Heard about Tom Douglas' latest restaurant and knew I had to try! Palace Kitchen has been a dinner night stable for years. It's small and cozy, greeted and seated quickly. The staff were so friendly se super helpful in making recommendations. Did a bit of a tasting menu and everything was tasty and paired well together. Since it was our first time we ordered a lot but would have been fine with a start and entrees. Started with some mussels and cabbage, both were light and flavorful. Followed by the daily bruschetta and the focaccia bread with apricot Jam. The focaccia honestly stole the show! Crunchy, but fluffy and sweet. *chefs kiss For dinner we had the Black Cod and Short Ribs both savory and satisfying! And for dessert the Apple-Fennel Crostada which was actually very light and not very sweet. Will definitely be back to try more food on the menu!
Neb was amazing! Incredible service in a very vibey atmosphere. It felt very authentic, and warm. The food was top notch. The charcuterie board was so much more than we expected, I’ll remember that spicy octopus and eggplant for years to come. Don’t skip the focaccia either! Great experience and can’t wait to revisit.
Great place to have dinner and drinks. We just randomly stopped in without a reservation on New Year's Eve and lucked up and got a table. The service and food was spectacular! Everything we ordered was delicious. Thanks for a night to remember! A perfect way to end 2023!
Came for the spaghetti pizza and was very happy! Also loved the charcuterie board and the cabbage! Will be back for meatball pizza in June!
Outstanding evening. Much more than a wine bar, Neb makes for great dinners served in a romantic setting. Wines were of course very nice, as were the servers who made us feel right at home. We’ll be back.
Visited Neb for a post flight catch up after flying in from London. Was served by the wonderfully delightful Claire. Service was impeccable, friendly and just the right level of interaction from a clearly very talented team. The food was to die a for and the wine excellent! Highly recommended!!
A M A Z I N G ! Great to be able to enjoy the delicious experiences orchestrated by Tom Douglass, Jackie Cross and Team! Aperitivo hour is a great deal. ENJOY!!
The food was delicious and staff very friendly. They kindly accommodated and left out to the meat in the pappardelle to keep it vegetarian. Came with a large group and everyone left happy!
Just all around 10/10! Definitely going to come back! You cannot pass up on the focaccia bread with blueberry marmalata 12/10
Incredible service. Creative menu and so good! Delightful atmosphere. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!!!
Italian classics with a tantalizing Japanese twists hidden in each dish. The focaccia is to kill for and the broccoli Caesar is unlike anything I have ever had. The server knew the food, knew the wine and knew the neighborhood. It all made for a perfect date night. We didn’t even get to dabble in the Negroni menu, but will come back for it.
We found this place by accident after leaving a show. Best accident we've ever had! The food was some of the best Italian food we've ever had. Order the focaccia, you won't be disappointed.
We walked in here with no reservation but they were able to accommodate us. Oh my goodness. The artfulness of the bartender! A negroni flight? Delicious. The spaghetti was anything but mundane. We were in a hurry for a theater show but cannot wait to come back for a leisurely experience. The hostess, servers, and bartender were all so kind and knowledgeable! We cannot wait to come back!!
We stumbled onto Neb for our last dinner in Seattle and had an incredible experience. The food was heavenly, service impeccable and overall location was perfect. I would highly recommend and cannot wait to come back!!
The food was great, but to me the best parts of Neb were the atmosphere and attentive service. We loved their wine selection, and the chef’s slight additions to classic Italian dishes were well received. A little on the pricier side, but worth it for a special occasion.
We went to Neb for date night and couldn't have had a better time. The food menu was outstanding and the vegetarian dishes were both very original and unique for an Italian restaurant, while also delicious and very well prepared. Our server Emmy was absolutely fantastic and provided really great recommendations from the wine menu, was very funny and personable, and made us feel right at home. We'll be back!
This review is way overdue but I owed it to Claire and Sean for helping me host such wonderful birthday dinner for my friend. We were a big, loud group of 10 people and they were incredibly accommodating with the space and menu (we had dietary restrictions in the group). I think the cozy vibe of the restaurant and the delicious food made this a perfect spot for hosting a birthday dinner. We did not feel rushed and the birthday girl enjoyed every bit of it. Thank you, Claire and Sean!
went there for a happy hour. had the tastiest small bites i have ever had. highly recommend it. would love to go there for a meal.
Everything was very thoughtfully made, a simple delicious menu with fresh, homemade ingredients. The food was amazing, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the service was on point. Do not pass this place up.
Every dish we had was impeccable! My favorite was the Uni Spaghetti with Salmon roe. My husband’s favorite was the Lamb with Salsa Verde, but honestly you can’t go wrong. Alanna’s service was perfect, she had the best wine pairings and suggestions. Can’t wait to come again!
What a gem! Walked by Neb while trying to find dinner before a show at the Moore. The service was friendly and fast, the food was FANTASTIC (don't sleep on the focaccia), wine was perfectly paired, and the vibe was intimate and cute. The two of us were seated in a cute corner in the back but there looked to be plenty of space for groups of larger sizes. I don't recall the menu specifically mentioning any allergens, but the vegetable dishes may have been GF and/or vegan optional. (the cabbage was delicious.) Definitely check Neb out, it was a wonderful surprise find!
Outstanding new Tom Douglas joint featuring Piedmontese cuisine and a very well-curated wine list (with a bonus menu featuring many riffs on negronis, too). The plates are great for sharing or keeping to yourself, and there's a lot of variety on the menu for people who haven't had Northern Italian food to try. As is typical of Tom's other spots, the service is impeccable and the ambiance is great. The prices are fair for the quality of the food and for how great of an experience you'll have in Neb, but might cause a little bit of sticker shock for out-of-towners not used to the cost of living in Seattle. We loved our dinner here and we'll definitely be back soon. Very glad to have this in downtown!
To me, this restaurant really felt like you were in Tom Douglas' home, being served by his family. The food was great, the drinks were interesting, the wine was easy drinking. All in all, I would certainly recommend!
It was good to be back in the old serious pie location. Wines were great and the two entrees- short ribs and mussels were outstanding. The garlicleek vegetable was fabulous and the mussels were joined with a wonderful caper sauce. The short ribs were very flavorful and tender. Welcome back Mr Douglas u and ur staffs including the chefs at the wood fired ovens provided a memorable evening. Suzy and jeff Lantz Escala residents. We will definitely be back.
Unbelievably friendly staff, very accommodating for my wheelchair. Fantastic food, cozy atmosphere. Try the Beefcheek Ravioli! It was outstanding. Get a glass of dessert wine at the end, you won't regret it.
Great tapas adjacent place. Good cocktails, nice Italian wine list. Food was terrific -broccoli rabe is not easy to find in Seattle, and it was terrific. Cod was very nice. Casual Seattle vibe but great food.
Wow. This place is amazing. Visiting Seattle for one night and this was across from our hotel. We had our 3 year old with us and they were very accomodating. The food was wonderful! Such a fantastic experience.
Absolutely amazed by the service and quality of food and drink. I recommend this place over and over again. The balti board was TOO DIE FOR!!! Highly recommend making a reservation!! Please come eat here ❤️
Lovely small space that feels like you’re eating in your grandmas kitchen. Absolutely must try the curry lasagna
Delicious food, amazing Negroni and Italian wine list. We ordered the broccoli rabe, chicory salad, meatballs, and mushroom lasagna. All were delicious.
I am absolutely floored by how amazing the food and service was. All the staff was super kind and welcoming, we were able to get in quickly and the wine selection was off the charts. I will def be back!’
Amazing spot right downtown!! The food and the cocktails were out of this world!! Can’t wait to come back.
Fantastic! Went here on a whim and enjoyed everything! It's a super intimate restaurant and that wait staff were INCREDIBLE! The food was awesome as well. We arrived before 6:00 PM which meant we were able to to order off the happy hour menu. They have $10 negroni flights which were super fun to try. Overall, was a fantastic experience. Will 100% be back!
Had a great experience. Staff was knowledgeable and prompt. Outcome was a perfect match. Our entree, appetizer and desserts were amazing. Great sauce. We could hear each other and the perfect amount of light(we are older and my husband had a little difficult reading the menu). Overall, amazing dining experience.
What a perfect meal! The staff was knowledgeable, accommodating and attentive without being overwhelming. The food was awesome. 10/10, looking forward to coming back already.
Wow! What a great find!! This adorable restaurant was amazing from the moment I called to make a large party reservation for a special occassion. Claire was so accommodating and made sure to reserve us a lovely space at the chef's table. Alanna, our server, took the best care of us all evening with great wine suggestions. The food was just perfect. The small plates and pasta were so good and perfectly portioned for sharing. It was all so fresh and tasty. A truly wonderful evening of good food and good times!
Our first trip to this fine "wine focused intimate Italian restaurant". What a great experience. Love the staff - so friendly, accommodating & professional. And the food was exquisite. Bruschetta, Buratta, and the Short Rib. There was also a nice warm up with focacia & an amazing browned / seasoned eggplant topping. Just a wonderful experience. Our negronis were marvelous as was our bottle of incredible Pinot Nero. We can't wait to go back!! You don't want to miss out on this treasure!!!
Ah, Seattle, Shhhhhhh, keep this under your hat. There’s a new little Italian restaurant that opened recently on Virginia, at 4th, downtown. This is a quaint, rustic, intimate place of oak, an open kitchen with a wood fired oven, and a good wine selection. We happened in and our son immediately spotted the wooden wine cases at the entrance. We were quickly seated and started going over the menu’s. The menu is simple and to the point. Our servers were Davé and Alaina, both of whom were well versed in the menu. Due to food allergies, Davé was able to offer solutions to accommodate. We enjoyed three different entries, a Rigatoni dish, a Spaghetti with beef and pork meatballs, and a Gnocchi dish. What is it about dishes being cooked in a wood fired oven? These meals were excellent, the Rigatoni had a spicy zing, the Spaghetti was so tasty, the meatballs, very flavorful, and our son loved the Gnocchi. The meals were the right amount, not over stuffing. After dinner, our son asked Alaina, about desert wines and she was very knowledgeable about the wines and a couple of different ones were ordered. What is it about desert wines that really complement a meal? We finished up with a Lime sorbet. From my standpoint, this was more of a Gelato, so light and smooth. The service was excellent, as Davé and Alaina made this a wonderful dining experience. Now then, our son lives in Europe and has spent a lot of time in various parts of Italy, and his comment was this, “If it wasn’t for the air conditioning, I would clearly think I was in a restaurant in Italy.” So, shhhh, let’s keep it a secret to keep it special, okay!
Neb has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with some really tasty dishes. We had date night here and enjoyed a few appetizers, drinks and entrees. Drinks: This is a negroni joint. While not my personal favorite cocktail they have a handful of gin-less variants and we shared a flight of three, while not a convert to the negroni, I'll definitely be more open-minded! Delicious! Appetizers: This was the weakest portion of the meal. Tasty enough and reasonably priced, but felt they could've used a little more seasoning. Pastas: These were the star of the show. Perfectly seasoned (despite some reviews mentioning too much salt), rich without being heavy, and lovely fresh texture. Dessert is somewhat limited, take it or leave it! Overall, great value for flavor! I would like to see more churn in their menu items because while we could see going back for another visit, after two trips you'll have exhausted most of the menu options.
Our first time and we were very pleased. Focaccia and Brussels sprouts starters were great. Some of the best Brussels in town! My RIcotta Dumplings (actually gnocchi) were good, not great, but others in our party were very happy with Chicken Parm, Spaghetti with Uni, etc and Cannolini. The most notable aspect though was the service. Alana was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about wine menu and provided great recommendations. And other staff chipped in and were also great! Ambiance is lively and energetic - meaning the noise level can get a bit loud and the lighting dark enough that reading the menu required our phone flashlights. But I would always choose mood & ambiance over quiet, boring and lighting that is too bright. 👏 Neb & Tom D!!!
This restaurant absolutely blew us away. It was my boyfriend and I first time in Seattle and wanted Italian food. We ordered the focaccia appetizer that was light and paired perfectly with a roasted onion butter and red wine. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing with low lighting and an open wood fired kitchen that set the mood. I order the uni spaghetti and my partner, the lumache bolognese. My waitress even went out the way to sample me a white wine that she knew would help balance my meal. We ended the night with the affogato that I’m was delightful and would regret not getting!
We went here on Friday night for dinner around 6-7pm. Originally, we wanted to try Lola or assaggio restaurante, but both was very packed and the waiting time was over an hour. The staff at Lola recommend us to go to Neb if we don't want to wait and their food is pretty good. Since we have little ones, we went to Neb so we can eat immediately. Parking is mainly street parking or parking garages. We were seated right away, no wait time. Food was okay. We tried quite a bit. The balti's Board, gnocchi, and black Cod was good and we recommend them. Their 2 spaghetti was very underwhelming for us. We did try the spaghetti meatballs and the spaghetti with uni tobiko... The meatball one was better than the uni, but it's still underwhelming. I would not recommend them. What is outstanding is their service. We ordered 4 items, and they accidentally brought out the wrong spaghetti that we did not order. They apologized and immediately cooked the correct spaghetti to order and comped us the mistaken spaghetti and we were given the spaghetti to enjoy. They also was very attentive and nice throughout the service. I recommend trying this place out if you've never been. I would definitely recommend their gnocchi!
The newest restaurant from Tom Douglas has a wonderful Italian menu, nice ambiance and great service! Stopping in there this evening for a quick bite I had a wonderful choice of many Italian wines, both in the bottle and in the glass. There were several Negroni options and I picked one that was absolutely delicious! A few fun different variants on bruschetta along with a nice little meat, cheese and bread plate was a great way to start the evening. The menu itself had quite a bit of options, but nothing jumped out at me initially. I ended up going with the mushroom lasagna which wasn’t bad, but also didn’t really impress me. I felt like it should’ve been a bit thicker and maybe had some more or cheese along with it. After that, we ordered the Uni Pasta with salmon roe & nori (pictured). This must be the standout dish of the menu! Very unique flavor, absolutely delicious and a real treat for sure. Dessert options were limited but they did have a few interesting things. We ended up going with the apple pastry topped with a ricotta whip. I would’ve liked to have seen tiramisu on the menu. I know it’s rather expected in an Italian restaurant, but maybe some sort of interesting/unique variation on it would’ve been fun. Also, there were several dessert drink options, such as dessert wines and cocktails too. An espresso martini or some sort of a chocolate cocktail would’ve been nice. The service was very good and the staff seemed fairly knowledgeable about the products, especially considering that it’s only been open for 48 hours. I definitely recommend trying this spot and seeing what you think for yourself!
Small portions but delicious. In the original Serious Pie location.
Atmosphere and service were fantastic, food fell a little flat for me, unfortunately. The highlight was the lamb gnocchi, delicious with lots of depth. The burrata board was good but missing a veggie (for me). The lasagna had a different flavor profile and served in the dish it was made in which makes it difficult to eat. The tiramisu was good but expected more from an Italian place. Great drinks and like I said great ambiance, worth a visit!
Overall, the food was quite tasty. We had the lasagna and pasta with mushrooms, both of which were enjoyable. However, my main issue with the restaurant was the portion size relative to the price. We spent $170 on two small mains, four 4-ounce (or less?) glasses of wine, and a tiny tiramisu. In my opinion, it wasn’t worth the cost.
We went to Neb for a date night and found the service and the vibes to both be 10/10. The interior is warm and cozy and perfect for a winter evening. That said, we were underwhelmed by the food. It was all just very okay, more the quality/flavor complexity of what you might expect from a chain restaurant rather than a nice, standalone establishment. (Ie, the breadstick that came on the board we ordered being so burnt it was literally black + the alaskan black cod's primary discernible flavor being *salt*). We don't regret our visit, but both agree it will not be a repeat destination. There are too many other Seattle restaurants in the same price tier where the food is far superior to justify paying for ambiance alone.
Service & Atmosphere on point. Food is TERRIBLE. My risotto was so salty. The kind of salty you get when someone loosely screws on the top of a salt jar and the entire contents fall into the dish while cooking. Shocking they serve this to people. Everything I tried was just mediocre or less than. Sad because the with the good service & atmosphere the place holds great potential
Food was merely good, but neither the quality nor the quantity justified the price. I don't normally have a problem paying high prices to eat out in Seattle, but it has to have some value proposition there. Wine felt reasonable and a good list and I liked their Negroni flight. And the service was very friendly and atmosphere very cozy, so it wasn't an entirely negative experience. But we left both hungry and merely whelmed by the food. If you're looking for a Tom Douglas restaurant in the area, I'd suggest Palace Kitchen or Serious Pie rather than Neb.
Was a completely bad experience but mostly of the bad service of the waiter being completely unpolite suggesting wrong dishes and being ironic when asking queation! Food was ok nothing special and dishes seems to be kid menu all of them! I would not recommend it there are plenty of good restaueant with good services around
