On The Thirty is a Sherman Oaks spot with a great vibe, friendly staff (Arden, Mimi, Kayla, Emily mentioned), and tasty food. Many enjoy the Fig on Fire pizza and happy hour. Some find it a bit loud or parking difficult, but overall highly recommended.

This has been one of my go to's in Sherman Oaks for years. The Karmas a blueberry b!$@h is on of my favorites. They have a good ahi tuna salad the crunchy peanuts are a nice blend with all of the ingredients. A lot of good appetizers to pick from. I need to try their brunch, it looks good.
I was so impressed by this restaurant! The food was simply amazing. My husband loves the potato skins as an appetizer, and he said the garlic-infused filet was one of the best he has ever had. The shrimp alfredo is up there as one best I think I've honestly had. Inside was a little loud, but dining outside was perfect. Will be back!
I’ve been a fan of On The Thirty for a long time. They have a wide selection of great beer and the food is amazing! The waitstaff has always been very friendly and helpful. I always get the prosciutto pizza. I love how they use truffle oil in truffle salt on most of their food! the only negative thing about this place is it is a bit on the pricey side. Usually for prices like this for what you get I would deduct a star and give it four stars… But the fact that I literally dream about their prosciutto pizza is deserving of keeping that star and getting a five star review. I would absolutely make this one of your must stop restaurants if passing through the valley. It’s a great place to meet up with friends.
The food is great, especially if you like cheeseless pizza. Their recipes to die for!
Great food, everything was delicious. The taco trio was very tasty, I wish the tacos had 2 tortillas each as they were a little soggy. Amazeballs were good. The Mint Condition drink is what you need to try. We sat outside in the very back, it was difficult to use the bathrooms as we had to walk back to Ventura Blvd to get back in and also took the drinks and food a long time to get to the table. Check your bill while paying as if you order something and then they say they don't have it but it still made its way on the bill.
Absolutely outstanding atmosphere and food! Right in Sherman Oaks. I had a handcrafted brick oven pizza and a couple of cups of coffee with Bailey's and a salad called a chop chop. The service was everything you could ask for! Fast friendly and fun! This will become one of my regular spots for sure to bring business clients and just a casual late evening meal. Highly recommend! - Joey
This place was amazing. The servers and hostess were very nice, and the bar height table was more comfortable than most. I typically hate them but this place has a bar for your feet. ... I'm aware that's a strange thing to notice. Moving on. We ordered a bunch of shared plates for dinner, and each of them was spectacular. The slider trio was juicy, buttery, and flavorful. My fiancee got the brussel sprouts and she said they were "really good." The mac and cheese was maybe the best dish. Creamy but with a great kick from the bacon and earthiness from the mushrooms. The calamari was fresh, acidic, and tasted very bright and salty. All the dishes had good, correct amounts of salt that made them pop. The last dish was the tartare, and it was so good. Creamy texture on top of the thin, but surprisingly strong, cracker with a sweet, salty, wasabi sauce. We sadly weren't able to get drinks, but we're looking forward to going back and trying them because they apparently look delicious.
It is really hard to do everything well but this place does it... They have excellent brunch and dinner food, cocktails, beer selection, food for a wide variety of appetizers (oysters to mac n cheese to charcuterie plate) for all sorts of tastes, outdoor seating, and even TVs for those who wanna keep tabs on the game. It's a great place for first dates. The ambiance is lively but the light is dim and the setting is cozy. I have been here at least 4 times. They also have an excellent selection for brunch and your choice of bottomless mimosas or sangria. They have a pizza with a cracked egg, excellent choice of appetizers. Service has been hit or miss. The hosts always seem to be on it but the waiters are not reliably excellent. I doesn't change my opinion. This place rocks. A staple for any event or just an escape if you are in the SF valley. Happy hour is Sunday thru Thursday and I think it's 4pm - 6pm. I can't wait to go back.
Food was delicious. The entire menu was very tempting. I had the Brussels sprouts and chimichurri glazed salmon which I highly recommend. Staff was really friendly and helpful to our party of 20. I didn't care much for the choice of music but all in all I'd definitely return
The vibe here is excellent. The servers are always super friendly and mess around with you and the food is phenomenal. The pizza, any pizza, is amazing. Also highly recommend the amaze balls, they're amazeballs. And no meal is complete without dessert, deep fried red velvet Oreos with vanilla ice cream have your back here. Complete with full bar and good beer, one of the coolest places to go in the local area, if a bit pricey for a daily escapade.
The food at On The Thirty is fantastic. The Cheesesteak sandwich, sweet potato fries, and blackened shrimp spinach salad were the standout of our meal. The outdoor atmosphere includes music and television screens that make you forget everyone is outside due to Covid. The only downside it that the service could be better. The restaurant is so busy that our server forgot to bring requested items more than once. Our server was definitely really friendly and you could tell that she was working hard. I will definitely return.
Wasn’t expecting it when before got here, but was happy to learn they make delicious pizza here. Delicious in a way that I am planning to return here. Place is nice, big, and perfect for sport watching. When it is followed by good drinks and good food, what else can you ask for? Just a readable pricing. Recommended.
On the Thirty is a fun classy bar that deserves nothing short of a real human review. A.I. cannot quantify the price of a good time and speaking of prices their happy hour menu, food portions, and friendly staff made me stay long enough and enjoy the company to the degree of needing an uber. bravo On The Thirty.
Great tuna tartare, the potato balls were awesome, the shrimp ceviche should have been called shrimp cocktail because that’s really what it was. The drinks were great and the purple haired waitress was the best! We’ll definitely be back to try the charcuterie, pizza, and burgers- I can’t believe we haven’t tried this place before
My sister and I did some scouting for the perfect place to have an after party after my wedding wanted to give this place a try. We stopped for brunch and the food was great. We quickly decided this was a top choice. Benedict was the manager we spoke to and he was so personable and happy to help us work something out. Since it was far in advance, we were able to book the date of my wedding for 70 people. He toured us around the place with mimosas and was incredibly attentive and kind, genuinely excited to host a wedding after party. On our night, I entered the bar in my wedding gown and everyone in the building clapped and cheered (such a sweet moment from other guests)! Benedict was there and he checked on us the entire night and made sure we always had shots in hand to celebrate. We had a server who was also so on top of it, and I feel bad I can't remember her name. The whole night was incredibly fun and so well put together. I can't thank the team at On The Thirty enough for such a seamless and unforgettable night on such a special day!
Amazing place and great service! Great for happy hour!
During these times it's really hard to provide the best service when out for a drink or a bite to eat but On The Thirty did exactly just that. The staff was very welcoming and kind even after I spilled some water on the waitress, unlike other places, she was very nonchalant about the mistake and took it with a grain of salt. The drinks were exceptional and apparently the owner owns his own tequila brand so if you're fan of tequila mixed drinks, this is the spot. The spicy pineapple drink was the best 🥵. The appetizers were also exceptional! The wings, hot and flavorful! The cauliflower bites, spicy and crunchy! The sweet potato fries were probably the best I've had so far. The on the thirty pizza was also out of this world! Hands down one of the best brunch spots in the valley and for a damn good reason. I'll have to come back and try them out for dinner one day.
A big bar area with friendly bartenders and good food. It is a sports bar with pretty chill atmosphere. We pop in here pretty often for a quesadilla and sweet potato fries. They have the best sweet potato fries in this neighborhood. The Korean BBQ drumsticks are delicious as well. The alcohol beverages are reasonably priced. Jfyi, the bartenders, waiters and waitresses are all super nice and friendly. But the owner/management changes what to charge rather frequently, like some sort of service fee or credit card fee etc. They don't go to the service staff, but to the house. If they want to get more, they can increase the prices of the food. These fees are sneaky and draw unnecessary frowning. Also, they have a private parking lot in the back that charges $5 when we used it last. Before pulling in to the parking lot, look across the street, there is a huge public parking structure that costs you a fraction of the cost of the private one. They also take credit cards.
We celebrated my friend's birthday here and the food and the drinks were amazing along with wonderful service. Love the environment. Love the music and the atmosphere. Highly recommend it
Went with my team to celebrate and the restaurant staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Everything was perfect to enjoy the company while getting food and drinks 🍸
Good place to come in and share some tasty appetizers, drinks, and enjoy some music. We tried the Lily Martini (on the left) and the Richmond Gimlet (Right). Both were satisfying! We got the bacon wrapped dates, oh my gosh🤤. They were incredible! We got the classic sweet potato fries, the Amazeballs, which are huge!😆 And we also shared a BBQ chicken pizza w mushrooms added. Our server Kiya or Kira (sorry I forgot) she was super rad. Thank you girl! 🙌💕
Went with friends, had a great time. Our waiter was great, food was good, fresh and hot. Vibe was chill.
ONE OF MY FAVORITES IN THE VALLEY The food here is always good. I think they have dinner of the best pizza I've ever had! Full bar. Solid happy hour (Monday $1 oysters after 6pm doesn't suck). Tons of TV's that are easy to see making this a great place to catch a game. Validated parking if you park in the back lot behind the restaurant.
Always love this place! Great service, awesome vibe and delicious food! I've come here a few times but highly recommend the 7's cheeseboard, truffle fries, and maybe even follow it up with some buffalo cauliflower! So good. They have a full bar as well as a fairly inventive cocktail list - they have an extensive list of authentic tequilas too! Won't be disappointed.
On The Thirty is a good restaurant for good quality food. Their brunch menu is good and their fully menu is even better. I had their crab cake with eggs for brunch. At first I was upset that it only came with one crab cake but it turned out to be ok. The potatoes, melon medley and the 2 eggs filled me up. Their Bloody Mary was mediocre though but their other drinks looked good. Make sure to leave room for dessert. Their beignets are pretty damn good.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!! The food is awesome and the service exceptional. I came in on a Tuesday, JUST for the Chicken and Waffles not knowing it’s a weekend item. They went above and beyond to make a special order for me. It was worth the wait. Also they make a special drink I came up with only at this bar. “The PhoenixSunrise Hot Toddy” its Makers Mark whiskey, hot water, lemon, lots of honey and a shot of Angry Orchard Hard Cider **brings out all the flavors! Ask for one next time you go and tell em PhoenixSunrise sent you! 🤗👌🏾
our server Arden has always been fantastic and the sweetest person ever. very friendly, all smiles and very attentive. a regular spot for brunch with my mother and it never disappoints. their beef sliders always hit. the large mimosas (because one should practice moderation) are the best bang for the buck.
I had always passed this placed but not anymore. I went solo one night and easily spent over $100, with food and drinks. The quality of the food was amazing and I hope it keeps that same quality when I return. The drinks were spot on. Excellent bartenders. The atmosphere was great. I even met 2 wonderful ladies and we went to another bar afterwards! Definitely returning.
I have been coming to this bar for 12 years since they opened. This has been my neighborhood bar and go to spot for many years. I can watch sports here, have a chill night with great food and drinks or enjoy the DJ and atmosphere. They are very accommodating to anything you really need. I have thrown a few parties in the back room and when there is room permitting just take over a few tables in the main room. The food is great for a gastropub and really what else could you ask for. Good food ✅, good vibe ✅, plenty of TVs for sports ✅ and just over all good time.
It was my first time here and the food was delicious. From the fries to the ribs to the pizza! The staff was friendly and accommodating to our needs. & i don't know who the dj was but they need to pay them extra because they were playing all the hitsss. This place was definitely a vibe!
I’ve been coming to On The Thirty for over 10 years and the food never disappoints. Today I came for bottomless mimosa brunch and was really impressed with the pork belly benedict. The bread they use is perfect to soak up the egg and I was full. Huge pieces of pork belly was a real treat that was perfectly cooked. My friend was impressed with her avocado toast with the flavor and size. Double the size of most other places but everything was fresh and delicious. Usually I come for dinner and order the steak which one can never go wrong with.
Happy hour is great! I’ve never been during dinner or been to the bar but I am more than pleased with my experience during happy hour eating in the restaurant. The frose ($10 for happy hour) is not super tasty but it is so strong (and the more you drink, the better it tastes ;)) that one drink is enough. I’ve had better truffle fries but not for $6!! $12 pizza was good too! I’m moving out of the area and I’m so sad I didn’t come sooner. Happy hour is worth it! The waitress was so cute and nice. The ONLY thing that I could say negatively is it took a min for me to get acknowledged to be seated but I don’t really care because everything made up for it! Best restaurant in Sherman oaks that I’ve had for sure
I recently had the pleasure of dining at On The Thirty, and it was a delightful experience. The restaurant has a welcoming and festive ambiance with attractive wood paneling and good music. Although it can be a bit loud, it's perfect for a young crowd but also welcoming for all ages. To start off, we ordered the Mac and Cheese and the bacon-wrapped dates. The Mac and Cheese was creamy, savory, and full of flavor. The bacon-wrapped dates were flavorful, Smokey, and greasy, but tasty. We also tried the calamari, which was crispy, salty, and not greasy. It was a great appetizer to share. For drinks, we ordered two craft beers and a cocktail, and they were all fantastic. Moving onto the entrees, we ordered the Chop Chop salad, which was fresh and had a lot of ingredients, making it a complex and satisfying salad. The Thirty Boulevard Burger with sweet potato fries was the highlight of the meal. The burger was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor, and the sweet potato fries were crunchy and crisp. The Philly Cheesesteak was good but could have benefited from a different kind of bread and a bit more flavor. All of the portions were generous, and we left feeling quite satisfied. The service was fast and friendly, which added to our enjoyable dining experience. Lastly, the bathrooms were super clean, which was a nice touch. Overall, On The Thirty is a great spot to grab a delicious meal and drinks. The food is tasty, the portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the ambiance is pleasant. If you're looking for a fun and lively spot to grab dinner, On The Thirty is definitely worth checking
I have to say, I enjoyed this place way more than I expected. I thought it was going to be some overpriced hipster place, but it was actually really awesome! The staff were ALL amazing (literally they were some of the nicest people I've met) and the food was really tasty! I suggest ordering for the table and splitting things so that you can try as much as possible. If you like mixed drinks, this place is also great! They don't pour light, so that's great. Overall, while it is a bit pricey, it's definitely worth a visit.
Strongly recommend this place. Had a great time. The service is really good. I like a server who has personality and will chat but also know when to leave you alone so you can talk with the people you are with . Mimi was our server and was just super nice, had great drink and menu suggestions. She made sure our glasses were always full but never pushy or obstructive! The food was great with generous portions and the drinks were fantastic. Not watered down or light in the pour. I know it might sound strange but I always checkout the restroom before I order. If the restroom is filthy I leave. If it’s dirty I leave. I figure if the house isn’t concerned about my complete experience and aren’t keeping the restroom clean then I doubt the kitchen is much better. Needless to say I stayed!
We've been to On the Thirty a number of times and have never been disappointed with what we were served, or the service. I'm a big fan of the Fig on Fire pizza which is sweet, filling, topped with greens and a super unique pizza treat. My wife also got the gluten free crust version and dug it. I also treated myself to the Que Rico from the "Frosty Drinks" menu....Mezcal (think smokey tequila) mixed with vanilla liquor, bitters, brown sugar, lime and mint. Yum! There is plenty for vegetarians to enjoy here too, truffle fries, mac and cheese, fried cauliflower, Brussels (which are vegan and delicious), a couple other pizzas and salads. This is a great, comfortable spot for a delicious meal for any diet and drinks.
Indoor and outdoor dining experience on Ventura Boulevard. A tasty experience with a variety of menu items, an extensive beer list and cocktails. I had a perfect Old Fashioned that is now craveable and a flaky Maryland Crabcake. We also enjoyed the Shrimp Spinach Salad (spicy shrimp), the Ahi Tuna Tartare and a Margarita Pizza. The service was spot on. We were checked on regularly, food came out hot and fast, left over dishes removed quickly. During Covid they asked for 90 minutes at the table. Tonight must have been an exception with the playoff game on a roll away tv outside, this request was not enforced.
My new favorite spot in Sherman Oaks! Restaurant has an amazing selection of drinks and food. Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free friendly. The vibe is great and the staff is phenomenal. We went near closing and they were diligently cleaning. Still friendly even though we were there towards the end of the night. Our bartender bought us a drink for Fourth of July. Will definitely be going back! Highly recommend.
The bartender was clearly far more interested in others at the bar, because he practically threw menus at us and didn't greet us or make eye contact. It also took a good 10 minutes before we even had our drink order taken. It was also ridiculously hard to ask for anything else once we placed our order, so we ended up asking one of the bar-backs and he got us waters and eventually brought us our bill too. Definitely should work on their service at the bar.
The food was good but not great. The service was good and the outside seating was great. They had multiple football games on qt the same time which made it fun. This place had small plates and I had a pizza that was great. The small plates are very small. The drinks were decent, I had an old fashioned and my date didn't like her drink but was able to send it back and given something else. Park in the back and it was 10$. You are looking at 40 or 50 with a drink per person.
Reason for visiting: birthday dinner Date/time of visit: Saturday night, around 8:00 PM Parking: on the street or the adjacent plaza behind the restaurant Party size: 6 Environment/ambience: fun but loud. TVs everywhere so it's a good place for a game. Restroom is relatively clean too. There was a 30 minute wait for a table so we went to the bar where we ordered drinks and oysters. Service: bar was slow initially. We waited about 10 minutes before the bartender came by. After she came by, she was pretty good. Service at the table was good. Food: was good; had the burger with truffle fries. The oysters were good too, tasted fresh. Also had an Old Fashioned with Bulleit bourbon, which was good. Cost: expensive but worth it. Came out to about $120/person.
On The Thirty is an excellent dining spot with a cozy atmosphere and mouthwatering food. The menu offers a wide range of delicious options, from appetizers to desserts. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant experience. Highly recommended for a memorable night out!
Came in for drinks, they were decently nice cocktails. Service was pretty great with the late night water refills and she was attentive to us. It was late in the night so I didn't expect too much. Still very enjoyable . :)
On the Thirty bar has amazing atmosphere and great variety of food selection. Service was great. Staff are friendly and competent. Prices are relatively affordable and competitive to similar bars along Ventura blvd. A great bar to meet and hangout with friends/a date over wine or beer. Street parking is available. I highly recommend On The Thirty bar if you're in Sherman Oaks area.
Was here for a birthday. Our server was amazing considering there were 40 of us and one of her. My girlfriend liked her drinks. And we both liked the wings and pizza. I think we’ll go back for a proper dinner sometime.
Pretty much all of the food was good with exception of the fried calamari. It was drier than the Mohave desert, and it came with tomato paste, straight from the can. It was deplorable. Again everything else the 6 of us ordered was really good.
This place screams date night. Super edgy, chic, sophisticated. The small plates can get sort of pricey but they have decent sized and prices salads, sandwiches and pizza. I got the Kale They have Happy Hour Monday-Thursday from 4:30-6pm that features half off on Pizzas and $5 beers and wines. If you are ordering off HH then the bill really starts to stack. Great ambiance tho and tasty wine!
My friend and I kept passing by On The Thirty and finally decided to give it a try. We came in on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't too busy. There were a good amount of people seated outside on the patio but we were seated inside quick enough. The bar is the length of the room and all of the tables are high tops with very comfortable seating, perfect to sink into after having a few drinks We ordered from the mixology menu a On the mojito, blackberry smash, and I had the pina picante (pictured). Everybody was very satisfied with their drinks and they were quite strong, enough that my friend had to swap her drink with our other friend. The pina picante has the perfect amount of heat, and I love anything quite spicy. For food, my friends had the bacon-wrapped dates (A according to them but there's only four and they're small, so pricey in the end), the Montreal poutine (again A - the portion was plenty and the cheese curds melt perfectly), and the mac and cheese, which looked and apparently was delectable but again small and seemed pricey for the amount (though they do use local ingredients as much as possible!). I just went with the truffle fries, which seemed mediocre but the chipotle dipping sauce made up for that. I would come back for the drinks - the beer menu looked amazing as well - but pass on the appetizers/food unless I'm celebrating a special occasion.
I've experienced happy hour, dinner, and the sit-down bar at this place. The food is priced as you would expect for a location on Ventura Blvd; however, the taste and quality here surpass that of any other spot on the block. Granted, it is a tight and smaller location, but being situated on the hottest block of Ventura Blvd makes up for it. If it's your first time visiting, I would recommend going for happy hour—you'll find that the selection of food items is quite wide and tastes great. For a price perspective during dinner time: for two people, including two appetizers, one pizza, and two drinks each, the total comes to around $100.
Place is a great vibe. A little on the pricey side but the food is good and the drinks are solid. Usually pretty lively especially on Thursdays and Fridays. I have tried multiple items and they all have been good. Can’t really go wrong with the food here. Just be willing to pay.
I absolutely love this place at night. The workers are great, the food is great, the drinks are excellent. One thing I have to say, avoid their brunch. The owner is so rude and belligerent. She was dressed like a regular client, so when I was rudely told to hang my bag on the barely visible hook on the table. I was taken aback! I thought it was a drunk woman, so I shrugged it off. It was not until my server approached me immediately after the woman left and apologized for their owner's rude attitude. I was shocked! I later witnessed the owner forcibly move a large party that was there for a while, with loads of food and drinks, into a single table with barely room to seat all 9 of them. Literally left one standing without a seat. It was appalling to watch this. It is very obvious that this is regular occurrence, they all have this eggshell walk. Compared to the night, they are very much happier and livelier without her around. It's why I give 4 star rating, I knocked one off because of the owner. Definitely a great spot without the owner around.
Decent happy hour deals. $2 off beers. No deals on their special cocktails though - only well drinks and a few frozen cocktails. Brussel sprouts and truffle fries were great. I'd avoid the happy hour spicy shrimp. Pizza was pretty good but took about 45 minutes to come out. Bacon wrapped dates were amazing but only came with 4, and they also took about 30 minutes to come out.
The food was great the ambiance was very modern laid back fun. The food came fast and so did drinks the only issue was our server. We came in Saturday night and sat at a table across the bar. I saw her when we first walked in talking to host then after a long wait she was the one serving our table. We ordered drinks she was knowledgeable of what was in them but she was not attentive. For the price of menu items I would expect the service to be better rather than just have an ordertaker. She didn't follow up after we got our food and we had to keep asking other people for our server and we also prebussed our own table because she wasn't taking our empty plates away. The people next to us were complaining about her service as well. I will be giving this place another try though. My friend got the garlic infused steak that is not pictured because it got eaten so.quick haha
Delicious food with good-quality ingredients, comfortable inside, friendly, honest, and straightforward service. We started with 2 drinks, The White Lotus and The Fire & Sand. My Fire & Sand was one of the most delicious scotch cocktails I've had so far followed up by a glass of Ardbeg on a gentleman's cube. We selected a variety of items on the menu, with all of them delivering on satisfaction. The filet mignon, beet salad, Kobe meatballs, mac & cheese, and coconut shrimp spring rolls, with red velvet fried oreos to-go. A great liquor and drink selection as well as on tap beer. Fries were a little overdone and brown and the coconut shrimp should be more clearly stated as spring rolls and not so exciting, but everything else was superb. Will definitely be back.
Not bad, looks nice, friendly staff, fun environment but definitely not worth the price. It was a little over $100 for 2 sandwiches (came with fries) and 2 drinks 😖 I definitely don't mind spending the money on a good meal and drinks this just really didn't feel worth the amount. Drinks were alright but but again not worth the amount. We paid $21each for a double mint conditioned and Que Rico, I believe it was called, they didn't taste or feel like a double and were more on the sweet side.
Place is great specially the outside tables, Ventura is not too busy and the shade is perfect. Whether you sit on the bar or in a table service is quite fast. Oysters were surprisingly fresh and came with 4-5 differet toppings. Chicken skewers came 3 so if you share I suggest ordering another dish. Food was good but unfortunately every drink I ordered came absolutely wrong. Martinis were not shaken or stirred I had many ice chips and way too much olive juice... and the most disappointing one was the bloody mary. It was 50% water and 50% horseradish. I love the venue and the crowd that comes here is fantastic and nice. But drinks were not good. Thanks for a nice Sunday tho!
Really good food and okay drinks. However, it is extremely loud inside so if you plan on talking in any sense of the word then go somewhere else. The hostess Ana was very nice and accommodating. She had great recommendations for my entire meal.
The food was good. Our server was on top of it, even on a busy Sunday. The reason why I rate it as a 3 was the manager Regina, was rude to her staff as well as to us, she asked us to leave to accommodate a larger party. Really she didn’t like that we were occupying a table for a long time because we were watching the football games. The way she said we had to leave showed her lack of customer service. We had just ordered more drinks and planned on ordering more food. She said she would see if she could accommodate us at another table, then 2 minutes later she had our server drop the check. & to top it off there was no large party that came to take our table. Coming as a former industry employee she is not fit to be in a management position.
Lots of excuses for the poor service. Restaurant wasn't crowded but the service was terrible. Food is is mediocre at best. Staff is friendly as l9ng as you don't mind waiting. Won't go again. Too bad, great location.
Unique, eclectic offerings, laid-back ambiance, and excellent service make for the perfect Sunday evening dinner. Tried this place for the first time with a few friends. Being a dessert guy, I was drawn by their deep-fried oreos with red-velvet batter, which I ended up not getting :( We ended up having the spicy fig pizza, cauliflower wings, brussel sprouts and tacos. Food was tasty but not worth the price. I'm going back just to try their deep-fried oreo.
While the food and ambiance at the restaurant were enjoyable, it was unfortunate that the behavior of the owner detracted from the overall experience. Despite their position of authority, the owner's loud and obnoxious behavior was a distraction to other patrons and disrupted the atmosphere of the restaurant. Additionally, their rude behavior towards the mariachi band was unacceptable and disrespectful. It is also worth noting that the owner appeared to be intoxicated and made inappropriate comments that were offensive and unprofessional. As a customer, it is reasonable to expect a respectful and courteous environment, and the owner's behavior fell short of this expectation.
I've been on the fence about leaving an honest review for this place for a few months, but held back because my favorite trivia host had a little trivia night here and I was giving the benefit of the doubt. The first time I'd ever been here was because of Charlie's trivia. The owner of this establishment just canceled trivia night with no notice and hung up on our host when he inquired about why (which for me is enough of a reason not to give them your business based on the character of the people in charge) but here's my honest review. I'll start with the positive: the food is good. Not blow your mind great, but I ate there every week and tried many items on the menu and almost all the options were solid, especially the truffle fries which are my favorite. That said, it's all overpriced for what you're getting. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The service is abhorrent. Let me preface this by saying that I was a server and bartender for years myself and so while I'm empathetic to service industry workers, I can honestly say this is some of the worst service I've ever received and not because of being understaffed or slammed busy. We always had one or two servers in the back room where trivia was hosted every night, and it was frequently difficult to place an order or get a check delivered without having to hunt someone down or ask. This week, we asked for a server twice and after 20 minutes my friend had to order at the bar. All the servers I've dealt with are apathetic, slow, and genuinely seem to not care about the customer or the job that they are doing. So we've got decent but overpriced food, a rude owner, and atrocious service... when there are so many local businesses and great restaurants in Los Angeles, there's absolutely no reason to choose this one. I had never been before Charlie's trivia and I will never go again.
This spot wasn't it on the food game, you guys. It was honestly terrible. The Gordon Ramsay in my head was going OFF! Rarely do I say this about a spot, but I won't ever be back. The food was nasty. These tacos were sweet to the point where they gave a dessert tease. I ate one of them. My waitress noticed (even though I didn't complain), and she took them off the bill. I did like the idea of a wonton taco, but the BBQ sauce on it just killed the vibe. Truly, truly, not at all what anyone should eat under any circumstances besides the end of days. Then comes the lil bundt cake. The initial bite was good, but after a few moments, the cake had a seizure & got VERY STIFF. A tell tale sign that it was microwaved. Ugh...🤮 my friend got a brownie & it was half burnt. I wish I'd gotten a picture of that. Of course, AFTER we ate, I saw that the health code on the window was a B! It was obscured a bit, though, with fight posters & other sports related ads. 😭 I don't want to completely trash this restaurant, though... it's never my intention to drag a place for fun. I just honestly want to give you the tea. The good points were that the staff were very nice and that it was a sports lovers paradise. Several large TV's everywhere were showing a boxing match, baseball game, and other things. If you're looking for a man, you'll find him here. It's VERY male leaning & they all seemed happy, so that was nice. Not a spot I'd return to, though.😬
Server was friendly, but that was about the best about dining here. Food was bland and disappointing. Ordered the Kobe Balls and they were bland and gritty. Truffle fries lacked salt and barely had a truffle flavor. It seemed like they used truffle salt or oil, instead of actual truffles. Also ordered a BBQ pizza which was bland, under cooked and the cheese wasn't fully melted. The table we sat at outside was wobbly, missing parts under to keep it stable and other tables looked similar to ours. Overall, pricey and I wish we are elsewhere.
Came here on a whim - the restaurant was quite busy but im sure they could have taken two. However, the waitress told us due to the demand of the restaurant that they were closing earlier at 10 pm. And I asked about the hours, since it says on Google they closed at 11 pm. The waitress said it was already last call and wouldn't take anymore customers. I wouldn't say this restaurant is customer friendly.
terrible chairs and a default 20 percent tip. The waitress was polite, I would have left 20 percent myself, but the default is too much
First time going and it was not good ): I really wanted to like this place, however it seems like everything went wrong. The waitress took 30 mins to take our drink order, another 30 to take our food order, another 20 minutes to bring us our second round of drinks (which were shots) and they were WATERED down enough for the 3 of us to point it out as soon as we took them. We were shocked at the service, the food, the drinks... not to mention the Fried & Spicy Cauliflower, was more sauce than anything. It was just a bad experience overall which is shocking considering the good reviews. Maybe it was a bad day but wow, was it bad.
The last time I was here, it was prior to the pandemic. I remember enjoying my previous visit though. This last visit was unpleasant and a little bizarre. Things started off fine at first. The server was very sweet and friendly with my little one. The first red flag was when my husband asked if they had a specific drink. She said "no" and proceeded told us about another place that does serve it... (WTH? Lol) Maybe that was her attempt at being helpful? (Is this standard practice for this restaurant? -- recommending other places they should go? It's hilarious :'D) It took me a little while to decided what I wanted... sometimes it's hard to focus when you're preoccupied with a toddler. Maybe I was getting a little self-conscious but the server seemed a little impatient yet offered no suggestions or guidance... It was all downhill from there... there was an additional employee that would not communicate with us and just mumbled -- causing a ridiculous and awkward moment between my table and another regarding the patio umbrella of all things! We had to ask for our check multiple times and waited an inordinate amount of time while we watched other parties get theirs right away. Let's not even talk about the gratuity that they automatically tack on regardless of the size of your party. I honestly believe this is the reason the employees show very little effort. I've tipped up to 20 bucks on a $35 dollar bill before (at other establishments) just because I was so happy to receive exceptional help and service -- and I completely understand that the service industry can be very challenging. So this is not a matter of not wanting to tip for worthy service. Eff this place. Lol. You're better off going somewhere significantly nicer for the price you pay -- in terms of money, time, and principle. For what it's worth, the kitchen did a great job. The food arrived in a speedy manner and everyone at my party liked it. It's just unfortunate that the kitchen staff's success, efforts, and talent are suffering the consequences of an inept and clueless front room staff.
Extremely disrespectful manger discriminates and is often sexist towards women which disgusts me. To have such deliberate disregard for me and my family disappointed me to the greatest degree. Despite how long I’ve come here each and every time I have been let down by these peoples management and strong lack of a proper moral compass. Do not come here unless u desire to feel out of place and disappointed.
We sat on the patio - were sat quickly and it was not very busy. We were in the corner between two other tables and clearly visible from the hostess stand. We were there for 20 minutes and never greeted by a server - the tables around us were (and it was the same waitress so I assume they were ours too - purple hair) and we tried to flag someone and they never came. In fact every time we tried to make eye contact with the hostess she wouldn’t. The food did look and sound good, so we were super bummed.
I have been here over 30 times, this past time, one of the twin bartenders (who claimed she is the manager) denied me and my girlfriend (I am 23 and my girlfriend is 21) claiming our ID’s were “fake” and refused to scan the ID’s and refused to serve us. Her reasoning for the ID’s being fake was utter bullshit (she has literally served me here before) and I will never be coming back to this establishment. Get an ID scanner if you’re gonna deny people for having a real ID.
I would not recommend. The bar tender treated me and my friends with no respect. Took over 15 minutes to make three drinks even tho we were one of the only people there. They tried to up charge my friend on his mixed drink and all they could say after he confronted them was, “oh we upcharge for the labor”. Honestly can’t help but laugh at how terribly I was treated. We also asked for the check to be split between the three of us and their response was, “I guess but it would just be more work for me”. I didn’t think I was asking for too much. I could keep going but i’ll end it there.
DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN! I visited with a friend and my 2-year-old, who was calm and happy. After paying the bill, my son made a cheerful noise, and the owner told him to “keep it down.” She repeatedly watched him, and when he made another sound, she confronted me, saying his behavior would be “unacceptable” for an adult and he’d be “kicked out.” I explained he was only two, not crying or disruptive. The owner stood very close despite me asking her to step back. She also lectured me about not expecting a child to behave in a restaurant “for hours” — even though we had only been there for one. In my opinion, her behavior toward us felt discriminatory, and I believe race played a role in how we were treated. Other customers told me they were not bothered by my child. I will never come here again.
-5 stars🚨The food has always been terrible, but tonight I ordered a Philly and, instead of ribeye, the sandwich had FOUR SLICES OF LUNCH MEAT. No joke. Like they stacked 4 slices of the worst, most processed roast beef you can get at store, and then browned one side. I peeled them apart. It was disgusting. 🤢 I can’t believe I didn’t get a picture... I asked the manager what it was and he said “yeah it’s ribeye.” I peeled back another layer, he said “yeah they call that ribeye.” 🤯 It’s never been good, but I will never go here ever again. Just don’t, there are so many better places. Absolute trash.
would give 0 if we could. got there and we were seated in the back (no issues)... took a while to be greeted but our server apologized as it was the street fair, she was nice! we ordered our food and waited for 45 minutes.... we watched a large table who got there 20 minutes next to us get their food within 15 minutes. our kids boiled pasta ... yep 45 minutes for that. when we cancelled the food at that point they brought it and said this is on us because it was already cooked, we wanted to give it to you but we took it off the bill. when we paid we were charged in full- we mentioned the accidental charge and then they said no.... this isn't on us and refused to remove our food from the bill. we let them put it on the table because they said it was comped... we weren't after a free meal, we went to enjoy a lunch and had a nightmare of an experience shame on this place for how we were treated. never going back.
Food is awfully! We order tuna tartare, tuna looked so “tired” . Smells bad and no taste at all! We ordered second try . Pizza . in case pizza is always ok . But in this place even pizza is awful! Margarita with cheese and basil. I have never seen in my life that basil chopped for putting on the pizza . It should be leaves not just small pieces of something. Aperol spritz cocktail also doesn’t have correct way to prepare ! So I don’t know that was changed in that place BUT. Now it is terrible. DO NOT RECOMMEND GO TO THAT PLACE
