Food was delicious! Service was excellent. Ample parking. We will be coming back often.
I love coming to Meriwether's if I'm celebrating anything, need a pick me up, or just want to eat some great food. Typically bar seating is a first come first served section and it includes a handful of tables, booths, and bar seats. They have excellent seafood and teacup bread with cinnamon butter. I always order extra! The most recent time I tried the duck with mashed sweet potato for the first time. It was very crispy and not too sweet. Might be my new favorite dish.
First time here! Our server, Julie was very attentive, made good suggestions and made us comfortable! My husband enjoyed a very tender Prime Rib and I loved the Butternut Squash Bisque. Ended my meal with a coffee desert, The Aspen... everything was so good!
Gorgeous place. Friendly staff. Food was delicious!
Delicious crab cakes.. shrimp & hashbrowns & goat cheese ..the tea cup rolls,
My husband and I started our evening at another restaurant down the road that ended with us walking out after waiting an hour for our food, which brought us to Meriwether's. We walked in 5 minutes before closing and had the BEST meal and the most WONDERFUL customer service. Our waitress, Sheri, was one of the nicest and most personable wait staff we have ever had, anywhere. We were the last table to leave and we were not made to feel rushed at any point during our meal. Our only regret is that we had never been there before!! But we'll be back and we'll tell everyone we know what a fantastic experience we had!
The butternut squash soup is exquisite. I have never used that word to describe anything before - it's that good. Our entire meal was excellent, celebrating my husband's birthday - for which they did the extra touch of personalizing & signing his menu. A very enjoyable meal, in lovely surroundings.
I don't often take the time to post reviews, but after reading all of the negative reviews that people are posting regarding Meriwether's, I felt that I had to weigh in. I hadn't been to Meriwether's in maybe 20 years and I am so happy that I finally got back. My wife and I went with another couple for happy hour drinks and appetizers. The space was as charming as ever and the service was outstanding. Thanks for the great service Brandon. My wife loved her mango mojito and the appetizers were creative and delicious. We will definitely be back.
My first time at Meriwether's! My food was delicious, bdrinks were great and even though it was near closing, the staff was exceptional and friendly. Happy hour specials all day doesn't hurt, either. I will definitely return soon!
My family had my mother's funeral luncheon here and the staff at Meriwether's did a fabulous job. The setting was charming, the food delicious and the staff was kind and helpful. We had a large group of guests and the event went off perfectly. Thank you so much!!
Swell seemingly undiscovered Happy Hour with great wine and food prices. Inventive apps they are as good as they are described. Well priced lunch. All around place. Sign up for the Landry's reward program. Pays off well and points earned at good places (Mitchell's, Big Fish...).
The food was excellent. The shrimp scampi was very good. Crab cake appetizer was big, full of crab. Tea cup bread and a Creme Brulee for mom's birthday topped off the celebration. The waitress was very good. I had made a reservation the night before, on-line, but Saturday lunch time had only a handful of diners. We will go back, soon.
We decided to stop in here before meeting with a wedding photographer at the Starbucks across the street. Didn't know what to expect but we were happily blown away. My fiance got the crab linguine and I got the roasted duck, both were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. We got two drinks, bread (the teacup bread alone is worth visiting for), an appetizer and two entrees for just under $100. Table service was energetic and friendly, too. I highly recommend.
I love their happy hour menu! The happy hour snacks are great, and the drinks are good too. I frequently bring friends here and its always a hit. Their mac and cheese is awesome, so are the cod fritters. My favorite drink is the spicy cucumber. They also have a nice upscale seafood menu which you can order in the main restaurant
We came here for Thanksgiving dinner. We had a 4pm reservation (which was super easy to book online) and were seated around 4:15. The place was quite busy. They had the regular menu or you could order the traditional thanksgiving meal for $23.99, which we ordered. It started with their warm teacup bread and sweet cinnamon butter. Yum! The main meal consisted of turkey (mixed light & dark meat), mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, cranberry and a slice of yellow squash. For desert you had a choice of pumpkin, apple or pecan pie. The meal was delicious and plenty to take home for a second meal. The only negatives were that the squash was bland - I would’ve preferred something like green beans or some green vegetable. And there was only a tiny amount of whipped cream on the pumpkin pie. The employees were all hard workers and very friendly. Even the ones serving other tables smiled at me. They also offered free valet service which was nice. The valet turned on my heated seats.
Nice decor, spacious and the service is attentive and outstanding. The food is delectable; you are truly getting what you paid for and what is comparable to other restaurants. Prime rib is tender and juicy, ginger rice is a great compliment and Crembrulee is the best portion size and tasting I have ever gotten from a restaurant. Always enjoy coming here.
Went there for our anniversary dinner and the food was great. We ordered the New England Clam Chowder and the Charley's Chowder, Potato Encrusted Whitefish and the Cedar Planked Salmon with assorted veggies. For dessert we shared the Chocolate Cake with warm Fudge center and Vanilla Ice Cream. Our server, Skip, was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. The custom dinner menu from the staff, had their best wishes for our anniversary and listed our names at the top. Nice touch!
Amazing service with a nice classy atmosphere. The food is great, seafood especially but they do also have nice cuts of beef, the NY strip and fillet are both excellent. I dine here on business functions often and I have always had great experiences.
We got Thanksgiving dinner here this year (2018) and it was wonderful. Excellent service, fantastic food. You get a choice of a traditional, very generous turkey dinner-or you can order off the menu. Ask for Mel if you want a great waiter. Make sure you make a reservation early if you choose the holiday. Dressy casual and very comfortable setting. Extensive choice of wine, beer, and craft cocktails. All in all I am very happy with our Thanksgiving.
Meriwether's is a very classy, upscale place to eat. It looks like they put a lot of effort into making sure this place looks clean and smells nice. The wait staff are very polite, and eager to make your visit as pleasant as possible. There is a pretty decent selection of food to choose from, but is mostly seafood themed. Their fish selection is quite delicious, as is their teacup bread and honey-cinnamon butter spread. This would be a good place to go on a fancy date.
The food was excellent. Service was superb. And our server, Ashley, was absolutely awesome. This was my first time dining here, but it won't be my last. If I could give more than five stars I would.
Convenient location with plenty of parking. Uses OpenTable for reservations which works very well with minimal information. Dining room is large and not too noisy. Tables and booths are available. Decor and furniture is dated but comfortable. Food is excellent and our server Mel did a great job promoting their best dishes and drinks and took excellent care if our table. Will definitely go again.
Cozy, old world charm atmosphere. The food is good (especially the beer bread rolls). I always have the fish tacos which is the perfect mix of flavors and texture. Friendly staff. Valet parking available.
My first visit, which took place as part of a family party. The service was extraordinary; every staff member we had contact with went the extra distance to make sure everyone was happy and taken care of. The food was very good, with minor glitches. For example, the Bouillabaisse was presented with very little broth; however, on request, the kitchen provided a tureen of an obviously freshly-prepared broth. The dish itself was luxurious, perfectly cooked and delicious; on reflection, perhaps a clearer description in the menu would have been helpful. Another party member was a little confused about his entree; our waitress offered several options to resolve the situation. Again, a case of menu ambiguity. That aside, Meriwether's provided a wonderful experience, and has an exceptional staff.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary, the dynamite scallops were to die for. The dinners were also very good. The waiter Skip was very friendly and helpful.
Clean. Friendly. Great food choices and prices. Only one thing threw me off. Our waitress was awesome aside from not checking my my party as often as I would've preferred. She explained she likes to give people time to enjoy their meal, which is great but we needed a straw for the kid cup and more salad dressing. I'll definitely return.
Very good food. It's a very nice place, but casual wear is somewhat acceptable. It's pricey, though about what you'd expect for the quality of the food. Their drink menu appeared to be outdated, with several beers listed that were not actually available, though they do stock some decent craft beers. I'm sorry to say that they messed up my order, bringing me salmon instead of what I asked for. I felt like the waitress quickly offered to rectify the situation.
Fabulous food. They don't substitute which is unfortunate but the server helped find something like they had as a special. Join their loyalty program for extra benefits. Come hungry and definitely try the soup. Say YES to the bread, it's fun and tasty but ask for extra butter up front, you'll use it all and you should, it's that good. Valet service too.
Food is good and surprisingly not too bad price wise. Thou Seafood jambalaya was a lil lite on flavor. Service was great. Atmosphere is warm and cozy could even say romantic. I really wanna try the Prime Rib next, it isn't available b4 4pm
Meriwethers has a classic style reminiscent of the wiseguy days. The food is good and they have a great happy hour. The usual bartender Marc is skilled and attentive and knows his stuff when it comes to a great pour. I still haven't tried any food here that hasn't been great although it can be tricky based on when you go and who is in the kitchen. The prime rib sliders are usually great although the last time I went they were dry and not as flavorful. Consistent excellence is key. Otherwise this review would have been 5 stars.
Came here to celebrate a birthday. The service was fantastic, the ambiance was great, we had a private room. The food...... I ordered the Prime Rib/ Coconut shrimp entree. They should have left off the coconut and just called it shrimp. Didn't taste one iota of coconut; I'm glad they were good size shrimp or else I would have sent them back for false advertisement. My prime rib was tender yes, tasty no. Please for the love of God season that meat. I used a whole cup of horseradish for seasoning. My husband ordered Jambalaya, he enjoyed it. The bread and butter were the stars of the show along w/ my drink. The portions sizes could be larger for the money. I think I took two forks of my potatoes and they were all gone. I would come back, but it would not be my first choice. For the money, I want to leave singing and skipping. I just casually walked out and ho-hummingly hummed. Not bad, but not Great!
The food we got was very good. Unfortunately they were out of mashed potatoes and asparagus. The waiter forgot to bring one out of two starters and a bottle of Pellegrino we had ordered. So this time it's not more than 3 stars
The food was ok. Started with the mussels, the broth was somewhat bland but ok. Had the linguini for a main. The sauce was very watery, like a broth and the flavor was just ok. At our table we also had an 8oz filet, steak was decent, the rest of the plate not so much. 2 apsearagus sticks and red potatoes as they were out of mashed. The service was decent, the decor is dated. I felt that for the price we paid, we could do much better elsewhere. Would not go back.
The food was pretty good. We had the Potato Encrusted Whitefish and Coconut Shrimp. There was actually enough shrimp! Both of our green beans were cold though. The drinks were good too. There service wasn't quite as good. The hostess seated us across the room right next to the server station even though it wasn't crowded at all. Ordered the Brie appetizer, but didn't get it until after we received our dinner. The server said she hadn't realized that they had made it with the entree, which makes no sense. Maybe she would have if she had ever stopped to check on us. I wanted a drink, but she didn't come back. It wasn't very busy and she'd gone to the table next to us several times but walked by us so fast we couldn't catch her. I haven't been to Meriwether's in at least 20 years and still looks pretty much the same. It could use a little freshening up.
Great service to start off the visit with free valet, a warm greeting and seemingly good food recommendations. Then it all went south. The lobster bisque was watered down and the seafood pasta sauce was more like a broth than cream sauce that seemed like a watered down flavors. I feel like the food had potential but the execution failed. I was also not happy with the pricey bill considering the quality of the food. I don't have a problem paying for good food but when my waiter disappears and the food is watered down, I'm not happy to pay a lot.
Out of all salmon orders at dinnertime? Half the fish choices are salmon based? Slow intro to the greeting. Slow drink order service. Needs improvement. Not the restaurant of its heyday. Reputation, Food quality and ambiance are what kept it a 2 and not a 1 star.
On a slow Thursday, I dined alone at 6:45 pm. Sat immediately, after 5 minutes a waiter asked if I had been helped. Hearing "no", he took a drink order. 4 minutes later, another waiter introduced himself, poured water, and took my drink order, again. By then I was ready to order. He was attentive enough to answer my questions, and when I was told that the prime rib was not available less than "about medium", I ordered blackened fish. Waited some more, then was finally served my drink and salad at the same time. Fish was overcooked and so tough around the edges. Vegetables were quite tasty, but 2 asparagus and about a dozen green beans with a small piece of snapper made the plate look empty. The waiter dropped off the check before I had finished eating.
This place used to be THE place to go in Southfield if you want to go fancy and have a good filling meal. The decor is gorgeous, but the service was a mess. Server seemed to be super busy with other tables in other areas? Who ever the chef back there is big mad. Grandma got a Medium rare (almost rare) steak instead of a Medium steak like she asked. Then asked for it to be re-done and they returned the same steak burned. We called the waiter over and got the manager and she gracefully had it resolved. Crab Legs were sold out smh. My plate and my aunties plate look so empty and we paid around 30 for the food we got. The menu is so over priced and the service didn't even match up to it. Nor did the food. I can cook better than this to be honest . Food was bland, or just small in size. That's why I advise people to go to the Seafood company in Downtown Ann Arbor. Better service and around same price for everything but more for your buck. Oh and also a whole family left after they waited and wasn't being served. So sad, because they had some kids with them.
Sat at the bar for dinner and listened to rye he staff argue with bartenders the whole time. So much for a relaxing dinner. Although the food was pretty good, the place really needs a good cleaning.
The food was good, the staff and our Server was polite, but the service was not prompt. Our dinning experience was 3hrs long, from being seated to dessert. it seemed as if the shift was understaffed, however a lot of the tables weren't seated. Servers were actually light jogging throughout dinning room going from one table to the next. The food plus the service did not live up to the bill paid. Will not recommend or visit again.
Food was great. Service mediocre at best. Had a 3pm reservation on a Sunday--only a few other tables in the restaurant at the time. We had a group of 17 with a reservation so they knew we were coming. After being seated promptly at 3, we placed drink orders at 335 after a lonely wait at our table. The server seemed to forget about us after they gave us the menus. They finally took our dinner orders at 4pm! Left restaurant at 630!. Our server seemed very flustered and incompetent. Many drink and food orders never came. When we finally got the bill there were many mistakes. Took about 3 tries to get it right. We had a $250 gift card and realized after we left that they only took $200 off. Had to go back and claim the other $50. So disappointing.
Beautiful atmosphere. Beautiful interior. The food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the Bleu cheese sliders and the meat was overcooked and dry. The service was average and the drinks were overpriced. I gave this restaurant two stars because of the beautiful interior.
I was sadly disappointed. The wine was good, the service was good as so were parts of our meals but the main dish for both my husband and I were overcooked. I had prime rib and he had cedar planked salmon. At one point during the meal I asked my husband if I should offer the chef my recipe for prime rib. I had the lobster bisque and it was good. My husband had the buffalo shrimp and those were good but I am disappointed in how much I spent for something that was overcooked and dry. Not a surprise that there were empty tables on one of the busiest nights of the year, Valentine's day.
They only gave 2 twigs of asparagus. I love vegetables! The portion size was also pretty small, but the service was great! The waiter was very helpful with choosing meals and had a personality.
Came for thanksgiving dinner, with reservation. Was sat after a good amount of confusion despite our verified reservations. Once sat it was at least 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. Drinks arrived 15 minutes after. Waters were always empty. After food came the turkey was cold. Sent it back and received a better looking plate, but meat was colder than the first Server forgot what desserts were ordered. Server gave many excuses, none of which we asked for or were reasons for the extremely delayed and poor service. Restaurant appears to be a nice place but falls short on service and quality.
Went to have some apps and drinks with my dad before we met others for dinner. The older woman at the hostess stand didn't even acknowledge us! That made me angry as it was extremely rude. We walked to the bar but the rude hostess set the mood the the rest of our visit. Our server was nice but food was mediocre. We decided to call the rest of our party and go elsewhere.
My wife and I went here for our 41st anniversary it was a experience from HELL we ordered the surf and turf and all our food was cold everything.. had to tell the waiter to bring us bread when our main course came. when we told the GM he did nothing for our inconvenience just that he would re heat our food later we found out that the GM did nothing because 40 percent of the food went back to the kitchen that night, for what we paid everything should of been FLAWLESS !!! will never go back .
Don't ever go to this place....the food is terrible for the prices that their charging. When ask for the Manager she came with attitude out the blue, did give me a chance to explain why I was dissatisfied with the food. So by her acting the way she did...the service sucks too. When go or if you go you'll definitely experience what I did or worst. I should've listen to my buddy, he said the same thing.
Very dissatisfied with the service. I go there periodically around Twilight time, the service and the food is usually great, so I took my husband there for his birthday. The waitress gave us water and our first course salad. She did not return for an hour and a half. I wanted to leave but my husband asked to stay. we waited an hour and a half before we got served. Our waitress left us and never came back. It was a disaster. My husband did not get his free dessert for his birthday and I was very disappointed. Won't be going back there.
Everything was very slow. It look nearly 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the greeter. It took a long time before they took our order. It took a long time for them to come back to tell us they were out of the Prime Rib my wife ordered. My water glass sat empty most of the night. The only sign we saw of the appetizer we ordered was on the bill. I did like the ultimate seafood mixed trio. My wife thought the New York Strip wasn't good enough to be worth $35. Stringy. Maybe they were just having an off night, but we're not going back.
