Amazing anniversary dinner with family. There were 8 of us and every meal was perfect. Armanda, our waitress was attentive and had a great sense of humor. The only thing missing was the sunset but the view, company, food and service were all fantastic. The Red Snapper was amazing!
We have been coming to St. John every year for 26 years. We had dinner last night at Ocean 362 and it was by far the best dinner we have ever had in St. John. The food, service and the atmosphere were all incredible.
Still some of the best food on the island. We had the lamb chops and duck. Very little fat on the duck! Best I’ve ever had. Some good wines but limited selection. William at the bar is creating some great drinks and makes some of his own infusions. Great service!
Finest food on St John though quite hard on your pocket. We loved it. Must try Blackened Red Snapper. I should mention here, that entrees was delayed a bit but the server gave us complementary wine for the delay, we without asking to do so. Excellent service coupled with tasty food.
We had a great experience at Ocean 362. They were booked all week but were willing to work with us for an early reservation on evening, which was really appreciated. The upper bar is an incredible spot to watch the sunset. Our server was friendly, personable, and prompt. We started with the pei mussels, and holy cow, I’ve had A LOT of muscles and these might have been the best I’ve ever had. They were served in a coconut lemongrass broth that I could have drank straight. We also ordered the focaccia, and that came in handy to soak up that delicious broth. We also had the wagyu burger that was really tasty too. I’m still thinking about those mussels... I should have taken a photo, but we devoured them too quickly.
Ocean 362 has a new chef this season who is killing it! They still have classics like lobster ravioli, calamari caesar, and muscovy duck and fresh Mahi Mahi. But now they offer daily soups, mussels and fresh local fish like Wahoo and Tuna. Last night I had an amazing entree special of Scallops with coconut rice and creme corn jalepeno puree! So delicious and a wonderful view of the sunset.
We found the service very helpful and attentive, and we really enjoyed our meals and view as the sun went down. This was our nice meal of the trip and we had a great time.
Update. New chef so I have no idea what it is like. Old review before Sept hurricane caused a change in faces...Chef Shaun Brian (who is now at Cudaco in South Carolina) is very passionate about his food. He knows this island and is able to source food items that others don't even know about. He specializes in island to table. The flavors leave you satisfied beyond what you knew was possible.
Amazing place to watch the sunset. Food was extraordinary and so was the service. You'll need reservations here.
Great place to eat. Perfect sunsets. You can't go wrong here. The menu is limited, but it's because they specialize at it so well. Limited menu means fresh. Loved eating here.
We had dinner at Ocean 365 following our wedding in St. John. Our group was 17 guests (including 4 children). We worked with Jill to plan our dinner and she was very responsive and accommodating to the needs of our group. The chef provided us with a prefix menu with four entree options and included appetizer, salad and dessert courses. Most of our group went with the snapper or the NY strip and everyone raved about the food! The kids had noodles and ice cream and they were priced at an appropriate level. Jill did provide us with the choice to add on a bar package, but we opted to just order drinks separately while at dinner and that worked well for us. Jill was our waitress at dinner and was efficient, personable and lovely. The view from our table was spectacular, especially at sunset. We were thrilled with our experience here and would recommend this for a group setting!
Sunset is early, but worth watching, so skip lunch! The food is five star. Lamb lollipop appetizer followed by the halibut special for him and lobster ravioli for me. Both were incredibly good. Perfect martinis and a great wine list.
Although a mix up on our reservation, they made it right. Jill was our server, she was great. The food was amazing, we had the upstairs dining area and it was just us and made our trip to St John even better. Did I say the food was amazing? It was! Jill was great as well and on our next visit to St John we'll be back. Thanks for a memorable evening 😁
Do not go to this place if you enjoy friendly service, absolutely delicious food, and the best craft cocktails on the island... ...However, if you do enjoy that stuff, you should definitely go! Sarah was an amazing server on the roof deck, and the entire team was incredibly friendly/welcoming. On a very busy weekend, they found a way to fit us in, and despite being seemingly the last seating upstairs on a long rainy day, had a great attitude and were fun to be around. After our meals, we were the last people to leave the restaurant and it was down pouring. They attempted to help us find a cap for seemingly ever, until the island was shut down for the night (we could have walked earlier, but again, rain). They never stopped checking on us, made sure we stayed hydrated, and constantly apologized, even though the cabs were not their fault at all. We were on the island for 4 days total, and this was by far the best food, drinks, and service we had!
An incredible restaurant near the heart of Cruz Bay with incredible views of the water. Highly recommended to book a seat at the bar upstairs to enjoy the sunset. The menu has a wonderful selection of fresh fish and high quality meat dishes and an excellent selection of wines and cocktails. Friendly and caring staff make this a brilliant dining experience!
We’ve dined here twice this week. Food is delicious and service very prompt. Will was so courteous and kind…spent so much extra time speaking with us. Very unusual and refreshing to have such personal attention; we will definitely be back!
The best of the island in à la carte service, the tastiest food I've ever tried, and excellent service. Thank you to all the staff, especially those in the kitchen, thank you very much!
This was a wonderful restaurant to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The dishes we ordered were great and the service was very good. They have a pretty good wine list and we like the fact they had valet parking.
Valet made parking easy. The walk into the restaurant is truly incredible due to the view. Drinks were good. I had the Grilled Octopus with Pesto Burrata and my partner had the Snapper dish. The food was good, not great, although I did clean my plate due to the long wait time for the food to come out. I thought the other reviews were exaggerating but definitely not, you will be waiting a while for your food, even factoring in island time. The service was very friendly and kind. The view is the real star of the show!
Had a wonderful time! Service was excellent- there was a bit of a wait for our burrata appetizer so they provided a bread basket while it was being prepared. Waitress was very attentive and great to talk to! All the food we ordered was delicious.
The food was good. My favorite item was the lobster ravioli. The service is good with friendly people, but slow. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor and the much of the seating is open air. Its very romantic and you can see St. Thomas while you eat. The restaurant is a bit off of the beaten path, but still easy to get to by taxi. Its a vibrant atmosphere, when we were there motown music was playing, but things die down around 9pm
We had made reservations here as we are staying at Gallow Point & the concierge assisted us. We arrived 10 minutes early and the host said we had no reservations who also happened to be the Conceirge assisting with the soft reopening. She also commented on our “early” arrival but said she could squeeze us in. The restaurant was empty with the exception of 1-2 other tables. We were sat in the back by the bar tender with no view. I was disappointed. We were supposed to have reservations with the best view in town. We went ahead and tried to order some food. We started with the soup of the day and house focaccia bread. It was delicious. We then tried the burrata which was rather large but lacking much bread to eat it with. The ambiance at this time had not changed so we left to have dinner elsewhere. Their menu was not what was advertised online nor in the book at the lobby. I would try it again, some other time, where hopefully the staff is more welcoming.
I made a reservation many days in advance and I received a few text messages asking me to confirm and also received one when the table was ready. This system worked great. The restaurant has great views of the sunset in St. John. There were 5 people in our party and three of us ordered the Halibut special and two ordered a penne arrabbiata to split between them. We also ordered two St. John Brewery Ales and two bottles of water. The bill was $210 not including the tip, I guess that is normal on St. John. The food was really good. Please keep in mind that the restaurant is located in Gallows Point Resort and there is very limited parking, we had to find a spot on the road.
Good food. Not outstanding. My chicken was good. Tasty pasta. We did not order appetizers so a 1 hour wait from being seated until served food. That's a bit long even in a nice setting.
A beautiful setting, great ocean views professionally run, at Gallos point. Nice yet sophisticated atmosphere. A little pricy (but so is most of the USVI).
Fantastic Beef Rib Ragu sauce with pasta. The Bar and the Terrace are fabulous sites to take in the amazing sunset. The bar server is delightful!
Atmosphere and service was better than the food but the food was good not great. The snapper and fish were small filets and not cooked great.
Call ahead for reservations not a place you can drop in on. Excellent food & drinks plus great for seeing the sunset.
Great view from the restaurant of the bay food was good but not great
Advertising as "island to table" - it is not! Seated at 7:30 p.m., almost every seafood option was no longer available...or the options were sourced from Asia or a cold water venue. Even ran out the bread option. Nil was from the island. Our waitress was helpful...used her own wine opener to open our older wine successfully. Venue (and view) were lovely.
surprisingly happier than I expected. i've been here in the past, but it's much better now.
It was a great quiet place to eat and watch the sunset..The drinks were good as well you. You have to be in St.Johns to get here, and there is a slight hill. I would have gave them a 5 but it was so quiet and live music!! It was recommended by a couple of people
Went here as a larger group - some 20pax for dinner. Chicken and rice meal was nothing ordinary. Rhum drinks were plenty, strong and icecold, which compensates somehow. A thunderstorm came in while we were there and the setting is not covered enough from the elements, ie rainshowers and wet clothings. Its a partly stand/seat venue so good for mingling for a dinner event
Short version for the light readers: 3.5 stars for the food 1.5 stars for the service 4 stars for the location and view And yes, this is already factoring that we’re on island time. I believe in being fair but honest with all my reviews since I use others’ reviews to decide where I spend my time and money as well. We had a fairly good crab cake appetizer that didn’t have too much filler, but probably too much mayo inside. I’d get it again, but it’s not in my top 25% I’ve ever had. About the time the crab cakes showed, we noticed our drinks had been sitting at the bar for nearly 10 minutes. We watched as she walked up and grabbed other drinks for tables that had ordered after us and finally asked the waitress if they were ours. She quickly grabbed them and apologized, but clearly forgot (very nice waitress, but seemed disorganized and forgetful). After the waitress spilled about 1-2 ounces of my wife’s wine over the outside of her glass (continuing to pour the rest as she did), she apologized and brought back an extra 3 oz while my wife cleaned the mess with the tablecloth. (No clothing was harmed during this.) My bourbon and Coke seemed awfully weak but I chalked it up to how ice is clearly outmatched after 10 minutes in the direct sun here in paradise. But then our 16-year-old daughter’s puckered face quickly told me that the waitress had given her my drink and I had her plain soda. We quickly switched … it actually didn’t taste much different to me so … I guess one drink it is tonight. My Caesar salad never showed but it didn’t show up on the bill so maybe they saved me some calories. Entrées were better than average but, like the app, not great. Short rib ragu and pasta had a good flavor although the short rib was a little fatty; penne arrabiatta got two thumbs up from our daughter (they properly toned down the heat for her, as requested); and finally the Wagyu burger was decent … cooked to medium as ordered, but just not very flavorful. Lastly, an interesting variation of “key lime cheesecake”, which actually wasn’t cheesecake at all, but had a flavorful key lime pie filling (which is actually what I wanted before she called it “cheesecake”). That is, the little bit that was sitting on top of an incredibly disproportionate stack of graham crust that was quick to get us glances from nearby tables as we struggled to break it down, striking the innocent plate underneath with each blow from our dessert forks. Overall, no plans to return to Ocean 362 as I think we could have done much better spending this $300 (four of us) at one of the decently stocked grocery stores on the island and making our own versions of same. But the sunset view (over the villas, mind you) were decent. Safe travels!
This restaurant/bar has an amazing view. We enjoyed our food, but the service was extremely disappointing. The waitress was not friendly and barely came to our table, although it was a slow night.
Your service was on point but the dinner menu change and food preparation was very poor considering what my expectations were. I have dined with you on several occasions and this by far was the worst. Two years ago our family loved the surf and turf special that was served and still talk about how good it was. This year my family was looking forward to ONE “traditional Christmas meal” and Ocean 362 promised that. Your chef had at least 2 months to plan for this meal. Reservations were made, menus were printed, credit cards were exchanged, forms were signed etc. that highlighted this Christmas Menu. My entire family had studied this menu prior to arrival only to find out it’s not available. Inexcusable! Then to make matters worse the actual menu for the night was underwhelming. I did not plan this special meal for my family only to have the choices be so poor. A few of our family members did enjoyed the halibut and chicken. The steak was poorly prepared (undercooked), the oxtail was awful (swimming in heavy cream sauce). Unfortunately this was the only item on the menu that looked remotely appetizing. Bottom line is that we would not have made a reservation at your restaurant for Christmas Eve knowing that we would be dining off your “regular “ menu.
Disappointed with the service. We ate here on our honeymoon and the waitress became immediately annoyed when we did not order an appetizer and went straight to main course. While we were eating, food still on our plates she brought the check over and said “oh I figured you guys didn’t want dessert, right?” Shame because we were going to order dessert and another glass of wine. The restaurant itself is beautiful and very romantic. Food and wine are good but not for the ridiculous prices and rude attitude.
It was our anniversary, and we reserved a table with a view. Check. But after the initial niceties it seemed our waitress forgot all about us. 30 min between appetizers and ordering our main course. Empty glasses. Empty bottle of wine. Finally she came to get our dessert order. 30 min. Some guy we had never seen shows up, plops down our Ganache and disappears w/o a word. We finally had to wave our credit card in the air to get a check. The food was fine, but the service was terrible.
The food was excellent, the service not so much. The waitress was snooty from the start. She told one of the kids at the table first thing he better behave himself. My daughter accidentally spilled her drink due to an uneven table and the waitress had to be asked 3 times to take the wet napkins away. She never offered to refresh the drink. We also had to ask for our water glasses to be refilled. Would not recommend purely based on service.
Wait staff wasn’t interested in serving people of color . Very disappointing experience. Fantastic view marred by service with the exception of the bartender and the hostess. Chef is exceptional.
Hostess at the front was far from warm and friendly. Waitress was nice, but the food was just so-so and over priced. The view from the bar(upstairs) is really nice. Would not recommend anything other than a cocktail at the bar upstairs.
Waitress was very odd. Actually scary. They had a lot of menu changes and were out of 2 appetizers and 1 entree. My steak was overcooked . Pretty hard for a chef to mess up rare. Walter was their best chef. Won’t go back ever
I had high hopes for this restaurant, however, they really fell short. The server was very friendly and personable. She went as far as showing us pictures of the food and answering any questions about the food that we had. However, our portions were shorted and did not come out looking like the pictures. We specifically asked how many scallops came with the dish and were told two. we received one. The crab-cakes state that you get two yet we received one cut in half. That is not how the menu reads. When we brought these issues to the attention of the server, she said she was fighting for us in the kitchen to fix this. They ended up bringing another scallop out for both orders and one was undercooked and had to be sent back. The issue with the crab cake and another meal we had an issue with was completely ignored. Not once did they offer to correct the problem or make it right by reducing the bill. They expected full payment for 50% of the meal. If you charge fine dining prices your food and service is expected to be worthy of fine dining. There was no accountability for the mistakes that were made. Most of the food we received did taste good. It felt as if they were short on food, and therefore served reduced portions, yet charged the same amount of money. I definitely would not go back. This should have been handled much more professionally.
Great sunset view, if you can get in or get to the bar. The staff was not good. Some were rude, some were incompetent. Part of large party (25), told by phone we could get separate checks, then told no upon arrival, waitress seemed to scattered to be able to handle that level of detailed record keeping. Waitress couldn’t keep track of what was ordered had to come back to table several times to clarify. After we had ordered, she came back to say that the entree that several people ordered was now out of stock. Would have been nice to know that while we read the menu. She brought out drinks in haphazard fashion. Funny that the bartender came out at end of meal to ask how the drinks were, as if it were her 1st time tending bar, maybe that’s why drinks were served late & out of order. The food itself was very underwhelming considering the prices, which were very expensive, even for destination like St.John.
Our first experience dining here will be our last. Overall, it was just a weird experience and definitely not fine dining. My fish was undercooked and sent back. We poured our own wine which I don’t mind doing but doesn’t happen at other restaurants. We overheard staff talking while eating. Our entrees were just ok. I wish I could give a better review.
Food quality meh. Service good. View and atmosphere AMAZING! Music skipped all night. Should have just turned it off. Ox tail was all garlic. Trigger fish was good but cold. Scallops were great. You are paying for the view. Perfect weather to sit relax and enjoy the ocean and sunset.
I was told parking was valet only AFTER I had parked my car & started walking inside. The choice of water was either bottled or sparking & I was charged for it. (Tap was not given as an option.) Bread service is extra & considered an “appetizer.” No Caesar salads on the menu. Was told the full bar could make “anything not listed on menu” but the bar did not have a blender so no frozen drinks. Prices were noticeably higher there than any of the other restaurants around town.
The only factor that saved our night out here was the sunset view. Honestly, one of the best. We ordered the scallop appetizer and bread service to start, which is where the experience started to quickly unravel. The scallops were actually really good until my appetite was stolen by the obscenely long hair I found in our olive tapenade that came with the bread. (Wasn’t taken off the bill) We both ordered the dry aged NY strip with fondet potatoes and a grilled vegetable medley. Where to begin….I love a good rare/med-rare steak, but not a big fan of a lightly seared slab of meat. While mine (med-rare) was underdone, hers (medium) was overdone, both were missing seasoning of any kind, not even salt. The “no seasoning” theme continued into the “fondet” potatoes and veggies, and ended up being the only point of consistency other than bad. The “fondet” is in quotes due to its lack of existence with the potatoes. I’ve cooked better potatoes in the microwave at 3am after a Sunday funday gone awry. I’m not 100% sure what kind of sorcery was at play, but this place had a temperature so hot that only the suns surface could rival. I found more comfort getting sun poisoning in Turtle Bay the day before. Needless to say, I don’t recommend.
Food is inedible! The place was empty on a Friday night. First sign. Bummer. Good view and location . Kids got chicken tenders and they were frozen!
My husband and I were very dissatisfied by this upscale restaurant. We both ordered the special for the evening which happened to be Lobster. Due to the price I expected a quality that was a complete let down. I couldn’t even half of it. Chewy, tough and lacked any flavor. To make things worse, Our waiter took our order and that was the last we saw of him. He never came and checked on us after the meal was served. Someone else took our plates away and then we waited 30 mins for anyone to come and ask if we wanted dessert, drinks, etc. we just wanted our check and leave. I flagged him down for our check and he told me that he would get our server, HE was our server. My husband finally got up and went up to ask someone for our check and indeed it was him that had our check. This whole situation was unacceptable for this type of upscale restaurant. We spent a lot of money for a nice meal and atmosphere, there should be no excuses for poor service. Do better. We won’t return and we will not recommend.
