We booked our table a month in advance for our family of six. The ride from parking to the restaurant was a little rough, but the arrival included drinks on the beach which more than made up for it. The waitstaff were good, but we ended up waiting longer on recognizing that we needed drink refills or our next course longer than I would expect from a restaurant of this calibur. The food was plated brilliantly, the taste combinations were creative and interesting without losing the Italian base. Everyone was in agreement that the meatballs were beyond anything we've ever tasted (and I grew up in "Little Italy" where the catholic church still does spaghetti feeds with dump, pinch, and pour sauce recipies that immigrated over with their owners, using only homegrown herbs and veggies!) As for ambiance and setting, the sunset was incredible for photo backdrops and the gift shop had tons of fun items. I wish we would see the resort get back to operational, it would be a top pick locatio. Without hesitation. Overall, our favorite resturant stop in St. John, even over Lavango and Karma.
Beautiful start to finish, shoot for sunset. Views of the leeward passage and st thomas from every table, pre dinner drinks on the beach and they really do an excellent job curating an amazing dining experience. Papperdelle in a truffle sauce and the porchetta were personal favorites but we're sure it's all delicious, just don't get the same thing as the person with you so you can sample more 😋
Had the fortunate opportunity to dine at ZoZo’s on December 23rd, with my family of 6. Certainly a top 5 all time experience. Phenomenal setting, food, service and vino. Still thinking about this place weeks later. An absolute must.
One of the best restaurants in all of Virgin Islands hands-down. From the atmosphere to the service you really couldn’t ask for more. Whether you’re looking for a secluded romantic dinner with the sunset or just some family time, this is a must go to when you’re on St. John. The food palette and drinks are definitely made with passion and love which makes the overall experience amazing. Until next time!
Such an amazing experience. A little off the beaten path, this restaurant sits right at the Caneel Bay Beachside. Reservations are required, but this 4 course dining experience is exquisite. Great wine and cocktail list to enjoy while meandering about the premises. Check out the boutique and take a sunset walk to the end of the dock. All of the servers make great suggestions for pairings, incredible attention to detail on staple and rotating menu items. A casual, romantic, getaway here will leave you will a happy belly.
This is my favorite restaurant in the USVI. The food is amazing, the staff is extremely friendly and attentive and the vibes leave nothing to be desired. The entire grounds are breathtaking. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
We’ve been to Zozo’s 5ish times and every time they knock it out of the park. Plating is amazing, as are the flavors of each dish. We’re big foodies, so being at a place like Zozo’s where the chefs put on a great show is always a win. We’ve done both bar seating (a la carte) and the coursed meal - both are great. The views from the restaurant are unbeatable and this is our favorite restaurant on the island. I think if you’re someone who really appreciates food and how flavors come together, you’ll easily give this 5 stars and it’ll be worth every penny.
There should be 6 stars for a place like this! Unbelievable everything! Atmosphere, food, service. All of it. We had a front row table to the sunset. The 4 course meal with wine pairings was just perfect. I can’t wait to come again!
They’re open!! We almost didn’t go since the resort is closed, good thing we checked again! Best meal (and sunset) on St. John!Make a reservation online, as they don’t take them by phone. Park at Caneel Bay, just tell security you’re eating at Zozo’s, and they shuttle you to the restaurant. The ride through the abandoned resort feels something like Jurassic Park and you emerge upon this GORGEOUS restaurant. We sat at the bar for à la carte and it was truly perfect. You can walk around the premises while waiting for your food, they even have a small shop with local goods! The Porchetta was to die for, Mahi was delicious, the Panna Cotta was unbelievable and the drinks were strong. This is a MUST if you’re on the island!
The location, the sunset, the service, the food & drinks...all just spectacular. We love coming here and we love that there is just a single seating. There is nothing quite like having a wonderful dinner on the beach watching the sunset with not a care in the world except whether you are going to finish your entree or take some home so you can enjoy a dessert.
Absolutely Dynamite!!! Service was incredible. Food was even better. John was a welcoming host. Cannot recommend this place enough. The view, the food, the service A+!!
Go for the food. Go for the sunset. Go for the vibe. Whatever you do, just go. My wife and I celebrated her birthday at ZoZo's and had a wonderful time. It's a bit of an adventure just to get to the restaurant, which makes stepping into the littoral paradise even more of a delight. If you don't like outdoor dining, then ZoZo's is probably not for you. There are sights, sounds, and smells that you would not experience in an air-conditioned restaurant overlooking a city. But if you're already on St. John and want to feel like you're in a movie, then this sunset dining experience is a must. Each course is presented perfectly. I can highly recommend the gnocchi and osso buco, and my guava tart was the perfect dessert. I ended the night with a cappuccino that could've come from a high-end coffee shop. Kudos to the entire staff, including our server Lani, who made our night one to remember!
We had an amazing celebratory dinner last week. The food, service and atmosphere did not disappoint! Thank you for an incredible experience!
Zozo's continues to be an amazing, memorable, meal on beautiful St. John. One of the best sunset views on the island. Gabby, our most recent server was lovely, knowledgeable and attentive. The food and drink options were inspired and delicious. The staff encouraged us to take our time enjoying our meal. I will definitely be back on future visits to St. John. Make sure to book an early reservation to catch the spectacular sunset!
The most memorable meal during our trip to USVI. ❤️ We opted for bar seats at 5:30pm (limited so book in advance) since we can do a la carte. It’s a whole experience - first you arrive at the gate, where a taxi type car will pick up dinner guests and drive to the restaurant. The restaurant is fancy looking and next to the water. The view is gorgeous! There is a pier you can walk to take some photos and beach chairs you can relax at during your meal. There’s also a cute boutique shop behind where we got some gifts (pick up some Zozo’s rum!!) Food & drinks were excellent!! Everything was delicious. We ordered pappardelle as appetizer, chef’s special (truffle pasta, Caribbean lobster), mahi mahi and two desserts. Everything tasted good - my favorite was pappardelle, my boyfriend’s favorite was mahi mahi. Bill ended up being almost $400 for two of us. If you are looking to save a bit of money, I would skip dessert. They are decent but the food is where it’s at. Service is excellent! Our bar server is so sweet and all the drinks she makes are just so good! Overall a very memorable night! Would come back again. Say hi to KC for us if you see her.
Very cool experience! For those that don’t know ZoZo's is in the abandoned Caneel Bay Resort in the National Park. Very spooky. The entire resort was shut down after hurricanes 5 or 6 years ago and never reopened due to a variety of reasons. Mainly conflict with the tenant and an approaching lease expiration and the National Park not wanting to work with them. They kept a food outpost, somewhat and opened this in some sort of partnership. It happens to be one of the best restaurants on the island. You have to take a shuttle thru the deserted ruins of the resort to get to the restaurant which is eerily fascinating for folks like myself who love abandomment.
Zozo's is a "must do" on St John. Five star food on an isolated beach at sunset. Service is awesome and they are able to easily accommodate vegetarians, but vegans are going to have a tough time. Well worth the price of an unforgettable experience.
Excellent 5 Star restaurant. Food was unique and delicious. Sunset was off the charts.
What an absolutely phenomenal experience on the island. We fortunately went with a other couple and were able to share the dishes and every bite of the app/entree/desert was worth talking about. Everyone there is a delight to talk to and incredibly helpful with island info, including the owner who took the time to chat during the sunset rush.
Dinner at ZoZo's was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The restaurant itself is gorgeous- the decor is so chic. I doubt there is a bad table in the place, but we were blessed with a front row seat to see the most amazing sunset. Our server, Corwin, was so delightful. He was kind, attentive, magnetic. Every other person we encountered was just as lovely. The food was divine. The porchetta and the guava tart are my two highlights, with the guava tart being one of the most delicious things I've eaten in a while. Overall, I cannot say enough great things about ZoZo's. A definte must for anyone visiting St. John.
It was our first visit to zozo's in the new location. What a beautiful setting, great staff and wonderful menu. Perfect for sunsets and great views. Can't wait to return.
First time at Zozo's and it was excellent! Cannot recommend enough for anyone that is mooring in Caneel Bay! Five star restaurant hands down! Food was delicious. The view is spectacular! We will be sure to come back again in future.
A nice secluded spot with a prefix menu. You don't need extras but the we're tasty... Way more food than you need expertly prepared and quite delectable. Over all a nice splurge for a memorable and quite relaxed evening.
Corwin was recommended to us by friends of ours and we were so lucky to have him as our server. He was outstanding, attentive, funny and so knowledgeable! The ambiance and the food were AMAZING! You have to check this place out. You will have a wonderful experience.
Awesome ambiance. The best restaurant on St. John. All food is excellent. When you combine the food with the ambiance and views, an excellent experience. It is pricier than most restaurants on St. John but the experience is worth the cost.
Delicious food, excellent service, great views! Sunset was amazing with the clear skies. View of St thomas lights with moonlight also nice.
This is the finest dinning on St. John! Worth the price for a very special evening. The four course meal is prepared and timed to perfection. The timed seating is staggered so the kitchen can deliver it perfectly, however the table is yours for the night. No touristy churn and burn here. As far as the food, i had the Osso Buco, and I tasted the tuna dish my wife and daughter ordered. They were all delicious. I did read other reviews about the food being too salty. I did not have that experience and thought all the dishes were seasoned appropriately. Getting there is not difficult. You park in the old resort's upper lot where there is an attendant there to greet you. A shuttle runs often to take you down to the waterfront restaurant. Very easy. You can arrive by boat, but I did not. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for more than dinner, it is a quintessential experience!
Fantastic. Been going to Caneel Bay for 50+ years and it's one of the most special spots on the planet. ZoZo's carries on the legacy beautifully and deliciously.
Delicious 4 course dinner. Service was personable and impressive. Can't wait to go back again.
To die for... period. Your pallet will thank you later for coming here.... BUT the experience is another galaxy on it's own. Def a much needed stop at St Johns.
Beautiful evening in paradise! Great food, superb service and the best view. Hope to come back soon!
Incredible food and service! The food is amazing and clearly thoughtfully crafted. The pappardelle is to die for and the view while dining is incredible. Absolutely worth every penny for an overall amazing experience. Definitely will be returning on our next trip to Saint John.
Ignore any negative reviews about this place! Those people must be snobs, because the service and the food - and the view alone - are all 5-stars. We celebrated our 10-year anniversary here and were greeted with smiles. The waitress was extremely helpful in helping us distinguish the food courses. The meal: perfection! Truly top two meals I've ever had in my life. I've been to all 50 states and 8 countries, with great dining experiences in each. This tops them. We're middle class and knew 'yea we will spend some money tonight, about $200 a person after tip (well earned), drinks (great bartender and options), and the 4-course meal. Worth. Every. Penny. The dining highlight of our trip to the USVI.
We booked this because my wife and I are foodies, And it was our last night in St John. Shockingly, we were able to get a table within a week's notice. We read some of the other poorer reviews, and we had to laugh. No, you're not going to drive into a big fancy restaurant with valet parking, and huge class encased windows. Sure, it might appear like Jurassic Park is active on the left and the right, as the amazing shuttle brings you in from the parking lot. But honestly, I really truly feel of this adds to the complete charm of this place. Once at the restaurant, we were created with lots and lots of smiles, warm greetings, Or I should tour table which had a 10-star view of the sunset, and had one of the most unbelievable dinners of our life. In the top five, And we've been to lots of different countries, coastals cities, all over the USA. The food, wine pairings, service and experience, were all completely worth it, for a special occasion 😁 Get a seat here if possible, it is a must do if you are in St John, and it's a must do at some point in your life no matter where you're going!
Wonderful food, and memorable experience! If I make it to St John again, I wouldn't leave without coming here again.
This has to be one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had in all of the Caribbean. We loved everything, including getting there. The food was unique and delicious. The service was top notch. You cannot beat the ambiance, the views and beachfront vibe - perfect. An added bonus is a beautifully curated boutique with fine clothing, jewelry, and accessories (our favorite boutique in St. John). You can’t go to St. John and not dine at ZoZo’s.
Having visited St. John’s multiple times, I can confidently say that it feels like home to us. Recently, my boyfriend took me to a remarkable restaurant, where the ambiance was fantastic and the setting incredibly comfortable. The food exceeded all our expectations. Our server was exceptionally attentive and contributed greatly to our wonderful experience. For anyone visiting St. John, I highly recommend trying ZoZo’s.
The food here is absolutely amazing and complex in the layering of flavors. Every bite was a spike of dopamine and each course was its own act of a beautiful choreography of culinary excellence. While the view of the setting sun was a sight to behold, the food was definitely the star of the show. Don't miss this one.
We’ve been here two years in a row and have had our socks blown off both times. The food is amazing, the staff and kitchen are incredible, and it is in a beautiful location. The owner is so nice and attentive! We will be back again and again.
My friend Kris and I ate here twice in the last week, it never disappoints! From start to finish, we ate at the bar, Tyler was terrific, food was amazing and sunset views were amazing! Thank you John for another amazing experience!
I'm at a bit of a crossroads here. Let's breakout the pros vs cons. Pro's: - Incredible views of neighboring islands and plenty of sky to take in dramatic sunsets. - Nice ambience and vibe here, you can tell they care about their appearance - Food ranging from superb to good Con's: - It's expensive. Two drinks each and fixed price menu now at $130/head brought us to about $415 final bill with tip included. I've spent more on meals in the past and the food really does hit well, but to put yourself in that upper echelon everything really must be extraordinary. - Pacing of delivering courses could use a bit of an uptick. I found myself going from ravenous to full only after a couple of dishes as it took awhile to get each plate in front of us. Overall, ZoZo's is worth a visit for the view alone. As others have mentioned, bar seating might be the way to go so you're not beholden to the fixed price and can come early to enjoy the sunset on their wide open terrace.
We went in to check-out the new Zozo's ... still Zozo's, but in their location on the water at the Caneel Bay Resort. Reservations are recommended for meals. We had cocktails ($14 for a Mojito) on the sand overlooking the bay and sunset. Beautiful! The manager was pleasant. There's a nice little boutique shop. You may arrive by dinghy to the dock. (There were plenty of land vacationers, I believe they taxi to the Caneel Bay entrance and are then transported in golf cart type vehicles to the restaurant.) You are not allowed to walk on the beach at all from the restaurant or dock.
The food and service once inside the restaurant are outstanding! BUT.. the guys at the gate are completely useless and we were told a taxi would be called for us on our way out.. these guys just sit around joke and could not care less that we are stranded. We called the host and he finally arranged our transport.. this definitely needs a LOT of improvement. Very disappointed in the way a wonderful evening ended.. still waiting for taxi btw…
Five of us were on a “Sister Vacation” staying for 11 days. As we were in a home, we cooked most meals, saving our final night for a special evening, deciding on Zozo’s. Boy, did we make the right decision. From location to atmosphere, food to service, all was outstanding. The Chef’s offerings were nicely varied, and the portions were more plentiful than we expected. Only one entree disappointed - the prawns were unseasoned with a too-sweet sauce. Everything else was excellent. The Maitre d’, Mike, was very welcoming. Our Server, Mindy, was professional and courteous. The support wait staff were very knowledgeable about the food, which shows good training. One support server was just nice and attentive, Rini…don’t forget to roll the “R” should you ever meet him.
Been visiting the islands with my family for almost 20 years and have been to Zozo’s many times prior to Erma. This last visit was my first time going to the new location since the old building was destroyed. For anyone not familiar with Zozo’s the sunsets are amazing and this visit might have been the best one. Pictures do not do them justice. That being said, the overall price was incredibly steep. For 4 people(2 drinks per person) our bill was $700(tip included). While it’s always been pricey, this was far more than in previous years. The service was good and the food was pretty good but not for the price. While I love Zozo’s they need to drop their prices or offer different menu options(currently you pay $100 per person and are limited to 3-4 app and entree choices). Not sure if I will go back next year but if you have never been, I would recommend trying it at least once for the view and atmosphere.
We visited for my birthday, and to be honest, the sunset view is absolutely amazing. The cocktails were great, and the food was tasty. However, everything is seriously overpriced compared to other restaurants on the island. For example, a single shot of espresso was $8 — which is just outrageous. We spent $390 for two people sitting at the bar, which felt excessive. There are definitely other spots on the island with the same stunning views, better value, and just as good food and drinks.
Unfortunately a pretty disappointing experience. We sat at the bar and started with a fantastic martini, 10/10. We ordered the Halibut and an addition of lobster ($30) the fish was cold when it came out, the lobster was so overcooked we couldn’t physically chew it. My partner and I are both in the service industry, so we never send things back, but I had to tell the bartender we couldn’t eat the lobster. He took it away and apologized. When our bill came the lobster was still on it, I had to ask to have it removed. Overall, atmosphere and drinks were amazing. The food was less than subpar.
We stayed in St Johns for a week and this was the worst meal and drinks we had during our visit. We couldn't finish the cocktails. We had to switch to wine just to have something to drink, although we are not normally wine drinkers. We would've left at this point but you are stuck due to prepaying. Now I understand why this restaurant makes you prepay. The add on meatball was probably the best food item at zozos. This is just a typical meatball. Most of the food was disappointing. The price, $500+ for 2, was not only unjustified, I wouldn't repeat the experience if it was $50. The only thing worthwhile here was the view. Every other restaurant we tried on the island had better food and drinks. Do yourself a favor and don't torture yourself here. Just skip it. * Yes zozos, your restaurant is not a good fit because the food is bad. You want to make fun of my nickname which is an inside joke with my daughter, but you seem to have no respect or concern with disappointing your customers. Your food is as bad as your replies. My money was good and now you could care less that I had a bad experience. After tasting your food, I'm not surprised by your attitude.
Never in my 46 years of life traveling everywhere have I been charged $970 for our group of 6 to have to cancel a reservation due to being rescued by our boat company after 1.5 hours of being broken down in our boat rental. I understand they have heard a million excuses but I have receipts and can back it up with boat company. We called and told them we had been stuck and would not make it back in time to shower and make it to dinner. It’s a Friday night, if this is a highly sought after restaurant I am certain our table was quickly & happily filled yet somehow we were still charged for not being able to make it. The guy was pompous & acted like we had reserved the most coveted, prized table in all of the Caribbean! Not sure who they think they are but this isn’t an exclusive private club, it is a restaurant by the water with fine dining… Get over yourselves, do better, this is absurd!!!
Profusely underwhelming other than the views everything was subpar and I'm sorry to say.... To get here it's more than a trek. It's an experience because you have to cover it or drive it into a parking spot and they take you and by car service over to the restaurant is adjacent to an abandoned resort that was never rebuilt after a hurricane kind of a spooky vibe. It's pretty cool if you're early, which we were, they ask you to sit you can sit at the beach with their lunch waiting area where there is a very nice gift shop, which employee was very unattended so I walked out. The host was very attentive and did ask us if we wanted a drink which we did their Grey Goose so martini was OK. Their olives were amazing. Martini was OK. I better have refreshing non-alcoholic drink was delicious as we waited to be seated and brought upstairs we did partake in the beautiful views totally amazing and maybe what the restaurant banks on the four course tasting menu we were grateful we didn't do the wine pairing, cause my wine was not impressive as wasn't my cocktail my Sauvignon Blanc from France lackluster and for a place that's about $400 to eat without wine pairing. I would expect the staff to be amazing. They were OK they were proficient. They weren't unkind but they were just OK. Everything I had was almost too salty and the papa pasta was not al dente was borderline hard. I'm sorry I come from New York and impressing is hard, but I'm willing to work with OK and delicious for the price point. I could've had four meals on the island which I would've found amazing and which I have and given an extra waiting to this was just not on par. I say save your money go local eat everywhere else. It's just not worth it to come here unless you want the experience of the view and to say you've been here I'm sorry that I had to leave this review..
