Great place to grab local well crafted beer . Love that it's family friendly and you're welcome to bring your own food. Perfect vibes and good times!
I noticr this loc. looking for a place to pee. Had a beer! The place was very welcoming and relxing. LGBT+ friendly. Bathroom xcleaned, decor beautiful price afforable, they even have free condoms!!!! Worth to come by again from the Bronx.
I always have a good time at Alewife brewery. I live across the river, but shake a leg to get over to Sunnyside. The beer is great and diverse; the staff is attentive and helpful; the patrons are friendly - good community!
Great experience with battle club pro had an amazing time the burgers I had are delicious
Great beer selection and if you don't like beers they have a great cocktail selection. Every time I go the staff is amazing. Live music on Friday is the greatest.
Good vibes abound here. Bonus points for positive and queer-affirming energy from the patrons, staff, and owners. If you’re a serious beer drinker, Alewife offers a rotating cast of drafts, bottles, and cans that speak to the diverse flavors and sensations of beer in a laidback setting. On the one hand, because they frequently change offerings, some may find that the brewery is highly experimental in character, though if you’re serious about beer this is the soul of what I feel a brewery is meant to be; ever expanding, ever experimenting, bold with what’s on offer. True story: My partner who is generally against beer tried one of their aged bottles and was converted. Confused the beer for a sparkling rosé! This deserves some applause. Also deserves praise for the bands on display on Fridays and the weekend, great to see in our neighborhood. A very welcome presence in Sunnyside! Keep it up folks.
This is a really great spot with a wide variety of delicious beers. The bartenders were super knowledgeable about every beer we asked about. We were able to try a whole bunch of beers before decided on a flight. The space is designed well with a ton of space to find seating and hang out. I also noticed they were making tacos inside, but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to try any! I came on a Saturday night around 8pm and it was decently busy, but wasn’t crowded at all so it was pretty chill. We didn’t have to yell in order to have a conversation which is always nice when you’re in your late 30’s. Highly recommend for a large group or couples that are looking for a laid back atmosphere with a wide selection of beers.
This place has been a staple for me, my husband, and our pup for the past 18 months. This weekend, we held our baby shower here. The staff was super accommodating and made the whole thing easy (thanks Pat and Fred!). Guests loved the vibe, and we even had the benefit of a blues jam session during. Highly recommend Alewife, whether for a casual drop-in or for an event.
I wanna leave this 5 star review because they deserve it, I have no idea why this place has so little reviews. Great beer and cool arcade games. Can bring outside food, probably nothing better than that.
Great beer. Great location. Always lots of fun events. Should be a regular stop on beer lovers tours of NYC.
Patrick and his team make excellent beers, and while they are not afraid to try new recipes (e.g., Bines and Vines), they stick to quality brews and don't do trendy just because. The tap room is a simple solid place to enjoy the beers with friends. In time, it would be great to have more bar snack options - salty and beer are always a good combo.
Loved this place. Was in Queeens on unrelated business and afterwards googled breweries near me, and it was really close by. Once we got there I was amazed at how cool this place was, all the little details here, and there they let you sample before you buy and they all taste great to be honest. I always like buying merch at breweries and bought their last camo trucker hat. Fire!! They also have pinball and a few arcade cabinets only things it was a 90° summer day and they only have fans inside... but I can picture this place lit on a cool summer night.
I absolutely love this wide open taproom! There are *19 different Alewife drafts (incl flights), *usually 1 hard cider + 1 hard seltzer *usually 3 or 4 draft cocktails *usually 2 or 3 wine options, *a full cocktail + spirits menu *great selection of 4 packs + bottles to-go, *Monday-Thursday happy hour specials *3 jumbo projection screens for live TV/sports/movies/NintendoSwitch, *a bunch of arcade games (pinball, Ms.Pacman, Ninja Turtles, Capcom vs Marvel, basketball, BuckHunter), *a mug club with fun perks/swag/discounts *Monday open mic + all night happy hour *Tuesday night NYC Trivia League, *Wednesday night Teacher Appreciation & bottle share, *Thursday night Bingo with cash prize *some of NYC's best food vendors (Fri-Sun year-round plus a few added nights during summers). There's a high ceiling inside with giant fans as well as a ton of outdoor seating! It's kid friendly during the afternoon/early evening and dog friendly 24/7 (they even have Alewife branded dog biscuits made with pumpkin, PB, and spent beer grains)! Some of the friendliest and most diverse staff you'll find in NYC! Check their website (www.alewife.beer) for all of their fun events. Better yet, sign up for their newsletter for weekly updates
Great brewery with a huge indoor space with plenty of bench seating and tables, a few arcade games (Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga, Whack-a-Mole, Buckhunter), cornhole, and I’m told a few pinball machines will hopefully be making there way back (the original ones that were there had been removed by the machines’ owner at the time of this review), and a projector screen playing a baseball game (video only, no audio - music was playing on the overhead speakers instead). There’s also plenty of covered outdoor seating as well and there was a Birria taco truck outside on a Sunday afternoon. A food vendor is usually posted up outside this place which is great since the brewery itself doesn’t serve food. All of the beers were excellent and they have a pretty big variety on tap, with cans also available to purchase to-go.
While they gave me a "Thousand Stars" (German style pilsner) I can only give them a maximum of 5 stars. There are so many good beers like Death to Ego (Hazy IPA) available. While they currently do not fill crowlers & growlers they do offer 4-pack cans.
Love the music they play - wish they would turn UP the volume ❤️ can't speak about the beer but so glad they serve mixed drinks now. Always ample space for small parties. And good people working there
Chill spot, lots of seating, indoor/outdoor options, live music, arcade games and decent beer…what more could you want. Great option for dates, groups, families, etc. No food but you can order delivery.
What a cool brewery! The space is wide open inside and has some old school arcade games to the side. Outside they also have some sheltered seating with big tables and chill vibes. The music is awesome and the place is god friendly! Great place for large groups. They have a wide selection of tasty beers and ciders and had a really yummy food vendor mother hens catering really amazing Jamaican food.
Great place for a party with a large room full of great sound systems. We had a great time with family and friends.
It’s a nice place to chill and crab a drink. The beer choices are variety, I had Chaos(sour beer) and my husband had stout. Plenty of outdoor seating with heater(FCFS), the staffs are friendly. We came around 2pm on Saturday afternoon on a very good weather day, it got a little crowded. FYI-dog friendly here!
Cool local brewery in Sunnyside! They have a great selection of can and tap beer to choose from and if you like it, you can buy a pack to go. Great place to hang with friends and it's bike friendly. Also if you are craving munchies there is a food truck in front.
Very nice. Great drink selection. Also they have hot dogs. My only request is that they need a quarter machine so I can play the ninja turtles game.
On a summer afternoon nothing better than sitting out with an expertly made craft brew. Nothing fancy here but comfortable outdoor seating and friendly crew of people. Little popup kitchen too if hungry. It's in an industrial area but nice.
Better beers do not exist! But, more importantly, better people. When we launched our spot with Alewife on draught in 2019, it began a friendship with these guys that has been a true gift. Buy their beer, meet their people, hang in their taproom. You'll be glad you did.

First a Thousand Stars, then the Altered State. Thank you Patrick and staff for the good times, the unique beers, and supporting live entertainment.

If you go when its hot out, it will feel even hotter inside. Oppressively hot. Otherwise cool spot. Good beer.
Great chill spot to enjoy some beers in Sunnyside! Quiet outside tables minus the roaring motorcycles that speed by from time-to-time. Otherwise, great simple date spot or friends hangout. The selection of beers are very tasty and staff is friendly! Area is not the best and can be weird to drink beers next to a gas station but you'll get over it.
A large taproom attached to their new brewery is finally open, after many years of operating as a brewpub in LIC. They currently only have a few beers on draft plus small can selection to stay. All cans are also available in 4-packs to go. The outdoor setup includes socially distanced high top tables for smaller groups as well as individual pods with long tables for bigger parties.

I love homemade beers!!!! This is my place definitely
Sad to see them close but their beers were very good.. Taproom was a little too big, personally, but was a great spot to grab a 4 pack of a local brewery on a Sunday.. You will be missed alewife 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

The beer is good. But had an unpleasant encounter with one of the male band members playing on Monday night open mic. Aggressive and belligerent towards me and my girlfriends for being “not from the neighborhood”. Disappointed and felt unwelcome.
This is a great bar. So why only 3 stars? Every time I go, it's swarming with children. And, I understand that parents want to drink and figure the space is big enough to let their toddlers roam, but it's also a bar.
Long story short...1st time visiting the brewery. Went to the bar and asked for a sample, and was told to go take a seat at a table. The waitress comes over, and we ask for a tasting before ordering a pint. She tells us she can't give us any samples because it's starting to get a little crowded. We asked if we went to the bar, Can we get a sample she said yes. Back to the bar we go. The beertender asked us why we were back at the bar, and we let him know what happened. He shook his head, mumbled something, and proceeded to give us a few samples to try. Personally, I was not a fan of the beers. But everyone has their own tastes in beer. We were there on Saturday.
The good, friendly staff, big open taproom with lots of seating and some games, definitely a step up from the old location. Slightly off the beaten path. The shady, if you supported them during the pandemic through home deliveries they'd hook you up with a gift card. Well those 5 gift cards I've obtained over the course of months are no longer honoured by them. Their initial response was we needed to update the system, now it's sorry we can't do anything for you. But hey happy hour isn't bad.
Large, interesting industrial bar with a stage and concrete floors. I visited with friends for their Salsa event... which ended up being "reggaeton and dembow" themed. Not a happy camper. There's a $15 cover but no drink/food minimums. It's mostly standing room only, but there were some tables towards the back at the bar. The Salsa band was great! They performed around 11 pm and played for about 30 mins. They also closed the event with a spoken word piece woven with references to the black arts movement, poets/writers, critical think pieces, social justice and political issues, and community unity. Well done! I loved it. There was some dancing, but not many dancers. It was mostly people hanging out with friends, enjoying the vibes. There are 2 - 3 all-gender bathrooms with a communal sink outside the "stalls", aka small lavatory rooms. (The 3rd stall was out of order that night.)
Not the best craft beer experience in NY. In our trip it was worst taproom. Not the place itself, its cool and realy big. But the beers were just meh, nothing special really.

Arbitrarily decided my girlfriend was too drunk after 2 beers and refused to serve us a third. Absolutely ridiculous staff, I’ve never experienced something like this before.
Beers were not cold. The drafts were not to temperature at all. You want a beer that is cold, especially on a hot day, this was not it. I had multiple flights and none of the beers were cold. Lukewarm at best. So within 5 minutes the beers had no remnants of cold and were room temp. Never been to a brewery that messed up on beer temperature Had i known this i would've gotten a can from the fridges they had, which were cold. The space is nice and large, although it is warm inside as there is no cross ventilation but there is outdoor seating to avoid the heat. Not sure i would go back to a brewery that doesnt serve cold draft beers
Nice space, rare exception to cramped NYC hangouts. Unfortunately most beers are super fruity this or that thing. Restaurant in house was the same kind of thing when I was here; some fruity twist on every single thing, "bacon jam" on lamburger (not hamburger) for instance.
9/1/24: Came in for the first time in a year and was disappointed to find higher prices and smaller pours. Loved you in LIC and really glad to have you in Sunnyside now. Appreciate the rotation of food trucks and stalls. Glad you’re hosting different events throughout the week, but I caution you to be mindful that some people may not want the event forced on them. For example, I came by with a friend last Monday to catch up over a beer, and a few sips in we couldn’t hear each other any more because of the overbearing comedy show that was starting. We, along with a few others, left immediately. Please create a space that allows guests a choice in whether to attend/participate. Again, thanks for being here. Your presence in the community is valued. *What was going on Saturday night with a full bar and only one bartender? Staffing issues?
After tasting two beers that I did not like, they told me I only get two tastes. Sorry, but they have a bunch of unknown beers, I am not risking getting a beer I can’t enjoy. Waste of a trip… never again!! Update after their first response: Most ‘small business’ breweries and for that matter ‘small’ microbrew venues do not put a cap on tastes. Furthermore, your proposed solution is exactly what I am complaining about, I could buy your flight and find I don’t enjoy the beers, thus buying something that I don’t enjoy - that’s not what a visit to a brewery or microbrew venue is supposed to be about. I don’t like what I tried and thanks to your policy that’s all I’ll know about your beer. I could name drop several ‘small’ breweries a reasonable distance from your establishment that are more than happy to give as many tastes as necessary for their customers to find the right beer. But, instead I’ll just point this out, your unwillingness to give a reasonable number tastes lost you my business yesterday and going forward. Plus, when I brewery hop with friends I’ll recommend those breweries instead of yours. In reality you don’t want someone like me at your establishment, you’re likely better off with someone who doesn’t know a good beer if it hit them in the face - your wit beer is nowhere near actual Belgian taste, and you amber was horrible. I’ll stick with Hoegaarden and just about any decent off the shelf amber (Alaskan Amber, Fat Tire, etc)
