Lovely place , Food is interesting and of a high standard. Will go back. They also do blue light card discount so that is admirable.
I ate here on a business meeting I am gluten free so I am normally get forgotten and the memory’s of being able to order and eat nice food was far in the past or so thought I ordered fish and chips it came out it looked like batterd fish from the chip shop and gluten free I was in heaven thank you so much so a lovely meal I highly recommend this restaurant
I can’t comment on the atmosphere as we arrived early, mid week to a near empty pub. How we were able to sit in the garden and enjoy the birdsong and sunshine. Our food we was really tasty and good value. I had the Philly steak and it was one of the best I’ve eaten. The lady, Kathy, was lovely My friend enjoyed his veggie version of this too Lots of parking I’ve since been back twice and just as good. I recommend the Goan fish curry Went back today and had the pork belly. A generous portion, very well cooked (would have like a bit more veg!) Waitresses still lovely. Followed by a very good, HUGE, crumble. Recommended Went back and had a lovely an rather unusual Goan Seabass and prawn curry, very nice. My friend had a beautifully presented pork loin which tasted just as good as it looked
We visited on a Sunday for a birthday treat. 3 of us had roast chicken. Which was beautiful as was the roast lamb and fish and chips and the peach and raspberry crumble was sinfully delicious. The staff were all really helpful, my only complaint was my son is intolerant to strawberries and we asked if the Eton mess had any in which we were told it did so he opted for raspberry sorbet which came out with a strawberry on top, however we will definitely be back m
Just excellent. Lovely food, atmosphere is relaxing, staff are friendly and helpful though the food and atmosphere where overall worth 6 stars each, service was still excellent.
A party of 14 pensioners attended The Olive Tree for Christmas Dinner. The Service and food were outstanding and could not be faulted. The staff and chefs worked wonders. Heartfelt thanks to Cathy and the all staff at The Olive tree.
This really is a wonderful country pub! We had a delicious lunch at the Olive Tree today. There’s plenty of parking on site and a great marquee set up in the beer garden if the weather isn’t on your side. Lots of picnic tables nicely spaced out a and a few cushions to make you as comfortable as possible. Covid-19 measures were also clearly in place with track and trace available or the option to leave your details manually and lots of hand sanitiser dotted around. Drinks and food were fabulous, as was the service from our lovely waitress Kate who was so very friendly and helpful (as were all of the staff). We both went for the moules frites (on the specials menu) and they were we’re plump, juicy, delicious and came with a huge portion of thick cut, well seasoned chips and some amazingly good hand cut bread to mop up the fantastic garlic and white wine sauce. They even thoughtfully included a finger bowl with lemon to clean your hands afterwards which was a great touch. Our drinks were refreshing and spot on for a hot day so I really can’t recommend this pub highly enough. Support local and get yourself down there with friends or family - you won’t be disappointed! Thank you to all of the team for a wonderful afternoon x
Good soul music 🎵 and the staff were the best I've come across in Guildford for many years. We only had drinks and didn't eat.
We frequently go to Surrey pubs for a Sunday roast and having tried most in the Guildford area , we have decided that this is the best - generous with the meat , potatoes crispy and delicious- perfect !
Visited for the first time and came back two days later! Lovely and very attentive service, delicious food and a great pig atmosphere.
Really enjoy this pub owners and staff are amazing and welcoming food is some of the best I have had In Woking
Had a lovely Sunday lunch here, the place was busy but we weren't rushed or made to wait ages, well recommend the Sunday roast
Have been frequenting for a while and I am blown away by the kindness and understanding that they show every time to me and my pal who uses a wheelchair. Food is great, Beer is great and really friendly staff (All) I cannot praise them enough. Very good vibrations.
I’ve been going regularly to the Olive Tree for 4, nearly 5 years and this pub has never disappointed me. From the food being what I believe to be the best in the area, to the staff making one of the most welcoming atmospheres out of most pubs I’ve been to. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know the owner who has always been kind, respectful and welcoming.
A group of us decided to watch the rugby game here and absolutely loved the entire place and therefore recommend it and will go there more often.
We love this place. The staff are all incredibly friendly and chill. Great cosy pub, lovely surroundings, good meal options (I recommend their fish!) and perfect for going for a pint & catch up. One of the best pubs locally.
always good tasting food here. Not too expensive. Helpful and friendly staff with a good country atmosphere. Nice beer available. The roast dinners are good.
Very nice food, stricky toffee pudding was lovely.
Been here twice now to eat food was excellent and so was service would highly recommend it 👌
Very good roast meal. Service excellent . Prices very competitive for both food and drinks and not expensive at all. Would recommend and will be revisiting. Thank you
I often eat here as the homemade pies (with gravy) are fantastic. Brilliant service always - just a shame they don't have Hogsback TEA on any more.
Another visit to this wonderful restaurant today for lunch. Everything was superb. Sunday roast delish. Thank you
Found this pub by accident, best choice ever. Ordered an Olive special burger with all the trimmings. Wow, homemade seared on the fire patty, roasted Halloumi cheese, bb que sauce, all the salad trimmings, crispy homemade chips and slaw. Best burger I've had for a long time. Will definately be back for more.
‘Best roast potatoes’ says my mum who cooks the best tatties we’ve ever known. The rest of the roast was very good too and the puddings glorious! Sticky toffee light and flavoursome and the crumble fabulous. That proper home cooked Sunday lunch. Thanks to Nigel and the team.
I attend a regular networking event here and the staff are just lovely, the food is exceptional, as to is the service. I've also been a few times for dinner with my family and friends. Highly recommend.
Excellent service for a funeral afters. Very polite staff who were very accommodating. The quality of the food was very fresh and tasty with plenty of selection and food.
Nice Cosy Pub. We order the Olive Tree Beef Burger. Amazing! What stood out was they gave you a choice of cheese to go on the burger (no extra cost) such as Brie, Apple wood etc ...
Excellent main courses an sweets, friendly and helpful staff and pleasant atmosphere.
Good pub. I have very high food standards and Alex the chef is on top of his game. Best pub food I've had for years!
Best Father’s Day ever Love a Sunday roast oh wow the olive tree knows how to do a Sunday roast, roast potatoes outstanding the beef was pink and so succulent. what can I say about the cauliflower cheese Amazing Free pint of ale for dad was also a lovely touch Thank you
Passed the pub many times and finally visited and tried. Very Nice pub and quiet when we went. Cozy area with fire. Staff friendly. Food very good quality. Will definitely visit and eat there again soon
Really enjoyed our meal at The Olive Tree. Nice pub with a lot of character. Food was excellent, great choice and all cooked perfectly. Loads of choice for gluten free which was a really bonus. Very friendly staff. Will absolutely return
We discovered this pub about 2 years ago now. It's a lovely traditional pub and great food. The staff are friendly and always helpful. So much so that we asked if we could have my other half 50th there. It was a Sunday roast with cheese and biscuits, but I asked for a banquet style. They did not disappoint. Everyone (even the fussy ones..and you always get them) could not fault the food. They gave us the whole restaurant area as we had 34 people. Everything was beyond expectations. So thank you Olive Tree. See you soon
Having had to organise a funeral wake in October, with absolutely no previous experience I approached Carly at the Olive Tree. I was extremely anxious about the whole thing but she was incredibly helpful and reassuring. She sent a choice of catering options promptly, discussed bar tab, numbers etc and took a whole lot of weight off of my shoulders. Carly stayed in contact in the days leading up to the day itself which went very smoothly. Food was excellent and plentiful. We felt welcome and at ease. The pub itself is cosy, we had the front bar and fireplace area with a screen and music for a photo tribute. I have taken a while to get round to this review, its been a stressful time, but thanks to Carly especially, and the team at The Olive Tree the whole experience was managed very professionally and with kindness. Much appreciated and thoroughly recommended.
I'll start with the positive, the food was very nice. We had burgers, steak and a sandwich all of which were very well received. No faults. Sadly the rest slightly let it down, the service was very friendly, but also very slow, we were secluded away in the restaurant room and I found it easier to order at the bar rather than wait for someone to remember us. Then the room itself. It's dark, gloomy even on a wet day, and not very inviting. I was very jealous of the happy smiling people found by the bar and fire area, much more inviting. Sadly the restaurant bit, when it's just you is a bit solemn. If I couldn't get a table by the bar next time I would genuinely move onwards. But anyway back to the positive, the food was great.
A really nice place to eat, I liked what their varied menu offered for normal eating, but not much on offer to vegetarians. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the service was good. The marquee near the building was very useful for people with pets and also for parents with young children to run around freely.
Enjoyed our Mother’s Day lunch here today, service was good and the roast lamb was lovely. Plentiful and great value for money. However I noticed some tables were getting complementary glass of fizz for the mums and we were not offered this nor was it mentioned which was a bit disappointing. However, I would return.
Wonderful food and very nice area. Good selection of drinks and good amount of seating. Service was a tad slow but can be expected of a Sunday, and didn’t get dessert sadly because one of them was sold out but Sunday roast is amazing!
It's a really cosy place to eat. You might have to make reservations ahead though especially over the weekends.
We enjoyed spiced fish cakes, plant based burger and great chips for lunch today. Our first time here. The three waiting staff who looked after us were welcoming & attentive to just the right level. The chairs very comfortable (for a bad back). The decor could do with a lick of paint here and there but the important stuff is good. We'll be back 😋
One of the best steaks I’ve eaten in many years. Cooked to absolute perfection. Pricey but worth every penny. The waitress was friendly and helped where she could but somewhat untrained. Overall I would definitely rate this establishment.
We stopped in for a quick drink during a walk but were made to feel unwelcome and like a nuisance by the staff. There was a strong smell of fish in the pub, which was quite unpleasant. We ordered mulled wine and mulled cider, both advertised at the bar, but it took around 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. The staff didn’t seem happy that we’d ordered hot drinks, which weren’t pre-made and appeared to be microwaved in the kitchen. There was no apology for the delay, and when we followed up on our order, we were made to feel as though the wait was somehow our fault.
The Olive Tree has been a regular spot for drinks with friends and meals out for many years. This past year we have been enjoying the monthly jazz evenings on a regular basis. On Wednesday the 19th of November, we decided to treat ourselves to dinner. Taking our regular seats afterwards, I was tapped on the shoulder by a man I did not know and had never seen before. He did not introduce himself. "Sorry but due to your relationship with a valued customer, you are no longer welcome in this pub" he said. I tried to have a conversation but his answer was simply "No." My friend asked if we could stay for the music and he said "Yes." I had to ask a waitress who you were and I was told it was you, Nigel, the owner. As I have not been allowed to have a face to face conversation with you, the only way to address the events that occured on Wednesday, sadly, is by posting a review. Firstly, I am not in a relationship with your valued customer and have not had any relationship with him since the divorce was finalised over ten years ago and that is the way it will stay. Secondly, there has never been any interaction or any problem between both parties on the several occasions both parties have been in the pub at the same time. Thirdly, I have never personally given you any reason to question my behaviour or good character. Because your valued customer has been told not to engage with me due to his past behaviour towards me, you have acted in a way that could possible be deemed as harrasement by a third party; you have been played. When we were leaving the pub, there was slow hand clapping from your valued customers. I stopped, turned round and addressed the staff saying "Thank-you for a lovely evening, delicious food and great music, This has not spoilt our evening. It is a shame about the caliber of some of your customers. Good-night." This experience is what I will be talking about, not the food, and that I am sure is not what you would want. But this is not about me, this is a about you and your valued customers. Perhaps a simple " She is only here for the music, no need for drama" would have been more appropriate. The aim was to humiliate me but I am used to these games; it just made us giggle and I am proud that I got to be 70 before being barred from a pub! The serious part of this review Nigel is this. Every patron that comes to The Olive Tree should be welcomed and made to feel safe and valued, whether they are on a tight budget like myself or cash to spalsh on copios amounts of wine and beer. Women who find courage to rebuild their lives, hide their scars and embrace the joys of great social events, especially through music, should feel safe, not further victimised. I really hope you address this Nigel, I hear you are a good man and lets hope The Olive Tree can be the safe pub for other women that we had been enjoying. Perhaps your valued customers should be reminded The Olive Tree is your pub, not theirs. Sue
I'm appalled to learn of the treatment of two good friends of mine at this pub, by the owner Nigel. I have really enjoyed being at this pub in the past, the food is excellent, and service has always been wonderful, but this has now been spoiled by the behaviour and rudeness of Nigel. I will not be returning.
Pub advertises that it is open on Mondays...wasted trip...it isn't (5th January 2026). However having read albeit a one sided hearsay account of how Sue was treated in November....I'm glad I didn't give them my custom. Shame on you and your staff...
