I’m not one to leave reviews normally, but the staff here are absolutely fantastic - i’ve worked 7 years in hospitality and these guys really blew us away, wonderfully presented within themselves, quick and tidy, food came out perfect, and cocktails were incredible. thank you so much for making it a wonderful evening! There was even live music! (i’m so sorry you were forced to sing happy birthday in front of a full restaurant)

We've just spent 3 nights at The Cat and Custard Pot, a traditional English local pub with a bar and a cosy snug. It also has lovely, spotless rooms and a great restaurant - the food was fantastic and is sourced locally. The staff are all friendly, cheerful and helpful. It's got plenty of parking space, serves local ales and dogs are welcome. I felt a little sad to leave to be honest.

We had lunch here today before visiting the Westonbirt Arboretum. What a great pub.Very welcoming, the service was excellent and all our food was delicious and so beautifully presented. We shared starters of hummus and flatbread and the cured beef. My main was the chicken supreme and was so tasty. The other 3 mains, pork belly, pie of the day and the sea bass were equally so. I would definitely recommend a visit 🙂

Lovely country pub. Good menu, but more fox-hunting than vegetarian if you know what I mean

At last, a pub with food that really is excellent. I get so fed up with having poor, underwhelming food in pubs. The Cat and Custard Pot Inn does food brilliantly. How many pubs would offer a light, fluffy and to die for cheese fondant as a starter? Then slow roasted lamb that actually tasted of lamb, with the texture of lamb? A beef pie loaded with beef and herbs? Great puds and dessert wine? All the food is served hot, which makes a change, by a team of young, well trained, knowledgeable and friendly waiting staff. And it was not expensive. Starters around £10 and mains around £20. It’s just outside the lovely and not too touristy town of Tetbury in the Cotswolds. Go there! 😎👍🏻

I absolutely love this place. Great for a nice meal and some good beer. Can go for a lovely walk from the doorstep in any direction. Also works as a brilliant stop off on a bike ride. Frequently use it as a pit stop on the way through. Really friendly staff. Currently serving up a lot of Bristol beer factory beers... Which is never a bad thing. (They have clear head on tap too which is great for the designated drivers). There pizzas from the chalet might just be the best pizzas around. They do a mean Sunday lunch too!

Loved our stay. Comfortable bed and a good sized room and bathroom. The staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. We ate there throughout our 2 day stay and it was 5* quality. Well presented and cook to perfection. We would stay again when we are next in the neighbourhood.

One of my favourite local pubs, super friendly, great decor and history, and fantastic food!

We came in with our young daughter on 9/4/25. We were greeted with a smile and staff were extremely polite and accommodating. The food was exceptional. I had the Fish and Chips, which was devine. Lots of thick, flakey, well seasoned Cod and the batter wasn't soggy nor overcooked... Best battered Fish and Chips I've ever had. My partner had the Beef Burger and my Daughter had the children Chicken Goujons. Everything was cooked exceptionally well and everyone had clear plates. We also opted for deserts of Carmel Biscuit Ice-cream, Apple Crumble with Custard and a Chocolate Tart. Overall 10/10 experience for food, atmosphere and service by Staff. Couldn't recommend this little pub more.

I recently stayed at the cat and custard pot inn which was lovely. Nice area outside to sit and cosy inside with a good variety of options for drinks and a delicious menu. I had the beef roast which was delicious. The rooms were quaint but lovely. I didn’t realise how bad the situation is there with the taxis and didn’t have enough foresight to book one in advance, massive mistake! Luckily Lynn helped me by driving me when I was stuck but if you do stay there remember to book one in advance!

Came for a birthday lunch. We were in the restaurant at the rear which is lovely. They had a large wood burning stove keeping the place warm and with the lovely smell. The service and food was great. A good choice of pizzas and pasta (sold out of lasagne ☹️) but I had a great beetroot and goats cheese pizza instead.

We only went in for food so can't comment on the rooms. The Italian was a lovely cosy venue with a log burner and pelt covered chairs. Nice environment and the people were lovely with the right balance of attentiveness and service. Food was good, mostly pizzas, but they were clearly freshly cooked with a good selection of flavours and toppings. We would go there again, maybe try and get in to the restaurant where the menu is a little more varied. Its busy, so worth booking ahead.

What an amazing little pub and accommodation! We stayed here on a whim and it was absolutely amazing. The food, service, atmosphere and room were superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! Couldn’t recommend enough

Popped in for Sunday lunch and despite being very busy were well looked after by the staff. Nice and cosy without being overly noisy and the wood-burning stove kept things nice and warm. Food was decent despite the staff having to deal with a powercut midway through service, and they got things moving as quickly as possible once power was back up. Couldn't fault the welcome and will definitely return to try out their Italian restaurant part of the pub next time we are in the area.

Never been.. yet....How does this exquisite space exist?🥰😭 I come from a place where nothing is more than a hundred and fifty years old, with boring architecture and thousands of miles of soul-less, empty roadways. I have a habit of looking up every place I read about in a book or hear about. This looks like a divinely cozy, ancient space, kept from the decay of modern society... a countryside café with fireplaces, beautiful meals, pints of sweet, dark beer, and rooms to stay? How immaculately ethereal 😭😭😭💜💙💛💕💞💓🙊 definitely on my list of places to go when I cross the giant pond from Turtle Island 🇨🇦xoxo

Dining only, but a very nice experience overall. We had a calzone, a Margherita pizza, and a butternut salad. Everything was very tasty, well prepared, and nicely served. The garlic dip is an absolute must try. I have not had one this good in a long time. Definitely worth a visit for the food alone.

Great classic pub. I went there for Sunday lunch. I started with soup of the day and it was leek and potato. For a simple soup it was full of flavour. The delicious homemade bread with it was also great. It made me think of this was excellent how good can the roast be. I wasn’t disappointed. I had the roast beef and it was fantastic, perfectly cooked and so tender and bursting with flavour. The Yorkshire pudding was big, not greasy and just tasted perfect, roast potatoes were crispy and fluffy on the inside (perfect). I had the vegetables which were good, and cauliflower cheese which was so tasty. Couldn’t fit in a desert unfortunately, I was already full. Lovely pub, very nice staff, super friendly and were quick with the orders. If I was in the area I would definitely be going back. Just fantastic. I didn’t stay in the hotel just had lunch. 5 stars all round.

We went for a lovely walk in Shipton Moyne and followed it with a delicious family roast. The children's roast meals were very generous and the adults had the beef which was beautifully done. The dogs were welcome and the atmosphere was fantastic. Can't wait to return.

A glorious little find. We were going to to Westonbirt Arboretum and wanted something to eat first. Had a look on Google and spotted this place. Have to say that it exceeded expectations. The pub has a good car park and the decor inside is lovely. The service was fantastic. The range of beers was excellent and the we could not fault the food. I had the crab cakes followed by the minute steak and frites. This came with a rocket and Parmesan salad which was so fresh and tasty. The other meals included the pie and the rock bass were equally thoroughly enjoyed. We will be back.

We visit often for drinks and food & never have any complaints. Staff always made me feel very welcome We recently hired the Pizza Chalet at the back for a private party for my daughters 18th, everything very professional and accommodating, great food & very efficient staff Thank you very much to Gemma, Abbi, Liv and Bobby for looking after everyone front of house and the kitchen staff for efficient supply of a rolling pizza buffet etc

Lovely friendly pub with great staff. Excellent coffee. Didn't eat but what I saw looked delicious. £22 for a Sunday roast seems a little steep but I have been out of UK for a while

Genuinely the best “pub feed” I have ever had. I visited with my partner for a romantic dinner - our first time visiting the cotswolds! The food was 10/10. Astounding quality - rustic, authentic and fresh quality ingredients. We were blown away by how delicious everything was! Paired with the perfect wine, the meal was simply divine. Made for the perfect evening. As if things couldn’t get any better, our server Paul was friendly, personable and cared so much about ensuring we had a beautiful experience. We thought he was the owner given his level of enthusiasm and attention to detail. We have no doubt we will return upon our next visit. We had the fish & chips, lamb shoulder and the sticky toffee and custard pot for dessert. MAGIC!!!! Bring your loved ones for a special treat, we can wait to come back

We had a birthday dinner in the Cat & Custard last night and I was absolutely blown away with the quality and taste of all the food we had. The beef was delicious, veg is were cooked to perfection and don’t get me started on the desert 🤤 The service was so friendly too, from the moment we arrived the guy was welcoming and smiley. Nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely loved it and will for sure be back for another meal. Thank you for making our evening so special ☺️

A lovely Saturday afternoon spent at the Cat and Custard drinking rose in the sun. We were particularly impressed with the biltong that was served. As a South African always on the hunt for good quality biltong in this country, this was very well-received. Thin slices, tender and very flavoursome. We shall be back for the other SA items that were recommended - biltong pizza!!! Thanks to Paul and the team for making a South African very happy :)

It takes everything to be top form in order to score 5 stars, and reviewing the restaurant only, the kitchen is the star of this show. Excellently pub restaurant menu, prepared and presented very, very well. And it should be a 5 star review. The weak link was the greeting. Some would think the greeting to be rather important in terms of setting the tone. On our visit, we were told very quickly that we had no reservation (we were sure we did) and that the restaurant was fully booked. After 5 minutes of being told that we definitely didn't have a booking, my husband spotted our booking on the staff member's iPad, exactly as we had described in terms of number of guests, name, and time. Even more bizarrely, we discovered that the third member of our party had arrived no more than 5 minutes before us and had told the same lady that he had seen his 2 guests (us) parking their car and that we would be along in minutes! The restaurant is a lovely space, the food is superb, and we will return, but, people need to be welcomed, to be made feel welcome, and not turned away.

Went for lunch with a friend. I had the sausage and mash. Very tasty and nicely presented. The down fall was the dessert. I had syrup sponge and custard. It had clearly been heated in the microwave because one side was hot and the other side was cold. Not very tasty either. Its not somewhere I would go again.

Came for Sunday lunch. Waited an abysmal amount of time to be waited on. The pub wasn’t that busy, and there were visibly 5 staff members on the floor. Food was just ok, but frankly a let-down from what we’ve had in the past from here. Plus, food prices have been increased to extortionate: £23 for a roast! All-in-all, poor service, mediocre food, overpriced for the quality and experience. This used to be a favourite place, but we won’t be back.
