Wanted a coffee while I waited for my husband upstairs in his eye dr appt. ( Dr. Kaw...did a review for her also). Had a latte with their maple bourbon coffee (but didn't add any extra sweeteners) and it was very good! Ended up going in after his appt for breakfast sandwiches and home fries. Definitely will go back! It's not exactly like Spillin' the Beans was in Troy but definitely a great substitute as they closed last year. Even better here is the parking! Free and ample (unlike Troy)! Place was clean. Food fresh. Cashier very friendly. I didn't realize they had an original location in Sch'dy on Jay as I don't go there as often since I moved from Scotia to across the river but as we have food sensitivities and seem to be OK with what we've eaten, I'll put them on our "safe to eat at" list!
This place is a treat for vegan options. I take my wife and son here occasionally on the weekend for a cafe beverage and vegan breakfast. Vegan Holland and Smokeshow Triple Decker are delicious. The staff is polite and the kitchen is quick. Can't miss out on the baked goods.
Exceptional humans own and work here. I am constantly stopping at Bud's because it is clean, convenient and quality (I have a very on-the-go-job). In addition to that, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his management team, and they could not possibly be better humans from the interaction we had. They are incredibly generous, caring and community-oriented. Highly recommend keeping these people in business forever.
The food and service are top-notch. It is a little pricey, so my wife and I save this place for special occasions. I highly recommend this place for morning meetups with 1-2 people or doing a couple of hours of remote work.
Fun cafe, incredible variety in food and beverage. Friendly staff (although a little overworked). Great breakfast and lunch options. Need to try their happy hour.
Cool new spot, everyone working was friendly and our coffee and breakfast was quite good. Location was really convenient to hop off our normal route if we were in a rush, today we planned to eat in and found a cozy table tucked in the back. Awesome to know this locally owned small business is right around the corner, might just have to add this stop to my morning routine. So far so good, looking forward to stopping by and seeing what they can do for lunch.
Great place!! Loved the breakfast! The eggs were delicious and the coffee was good. Loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Always excited to have another place with vegan options in the area! Staff were super friendly as expected! I've gone to the Schenectady location in the past & staff there are always kind as well. Had an iced chai, vegan buffalo chicken wrap w/ vegan mac salad plus the vegan plate to go. The food was seasoned well, chai was perfect, and the house made seitan was PHENOMENAL! Can't wait to go back!
Now this is what I’m talking about!! Thank you Jack and the staff for an amazing meal! I honestly thought a bit of bitterness was going to happen but not even a little, just very humble staff. I will be coming back and the food is so much better. Thank you again Jack for resolving this so quickly and with so much professionalism!
Great menu. Delicious food. Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff. As a vegetarian I'm not used to having so many options. Loved playing throwback games on the video game table while we waited. Will definitely be back and will bring more quarters!
We stopped in for breakfast and ordered Bagels and pork sausages on the side. By the time we stopped in the choices were limited but we both got the Asiago Bagels. They were HUGE! Delicious, tasty and we enjoyed them a lot. The Pork Sausage was also good too. I also ordered a Iced Tea which was very good and my husband got a iced coffee. Everything was made correctly and quickly. We definitely visit this stop again if we are in the area!
Great breakfast/brunch spot! Love the Das Visbek! They have great coffee options too. They make their own muffins and breakfast sandwiches to go, if you're in a hurry. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good ordering/pickup system.
Bud’s is my favorite cafe ever- no, seriously it is. I recommend Bud’s to everyone I talk to. You’re looking for a new place to try? Bud’s. You want to take your mom out for breakfast? Bud’s. Want to grab a coffee before your meeting with a client? Bud’s. Friendly staff, fantastic food, creative & delicious coffee!
Really amazing food and atmosphere, the sandwiches are delicious and feel like real ingredients. The coffee (especially the maple bourbon) is great. A little on the pricier side.
Vegan food is excellent and not many options in Troy NY. The vegan plate, Shaun's breakfast sandwich, and Holland are delicious. The staff is outgoing and super friendly. The atmosphere is chill and fun. I'm a regular!!!
Grabbed breakfast sandwiches here on our way out of Troy. The food is great. Solid vegan and gluten free options. The coffees and smoothies are great, too. I’ll definitely visit again when in thr area.
Bud's on the Hudson in Green Island, NY is definitely a go to!! Not only for the phenomenal food, the amazing ambience, & their awesome selections yet also for the impeccable customer service that was served up with a smile by Daniel. I stopped for a breakfast sandwich, which was egg whites with american cheese on a hard roll and a flavorful cup of fresh coffee with a few hazelnut shots. "Yummy for my tummy". I will definitely be back again not only for the delicious food and beverages yet also for the amazing customer service. Thanks Bud's On The Hudson in Green Island, NY keep serving up deliciousness for the palate.
Hi! I was searching for a special coffee spot on my way back to Albany airport, and I found this one was on a charming island, which seemed perfect for enjoying lovely views. It truly exceeded my expectations! Such a fantastic theme for anyone who loves comics and games!
Buds on the Hudson has become one of my favorite go to coffee shops! The staff is always so friendly, and I love love love their coffee. The mocha is delicious, and their delightful fall latte is my absolute fav this season. Their food is great too - I’ve tried their bagels, sandwiches, and wraps and always enjoy everything I eat there. If you’re looking for a cozy spot to work from, this is a great place. They have Wi-Fi and really nice vibes. Pro tip: They have a point system, so don’t forget to ask about it!
Dog approved Fun Cafe. Not your average cozy cafe, but really cool gamer/comic theme. They have a large menu including vegan and gluten free options; from breakfast plates, sandwiches, smoothies and sweets to lunch salads and sandwiches. I ordered an earl grey tea latte and my friend got a drip coffee, for food I ordered the McNalty (sausage egg cheese on French toast bread served with syrup- decadent) and my friend the toasted lox bagel; bagel was soft when it arrived but still tasted good.. we got a vegan banana chocolate chip muffin to split and it was rich and flavorful. The food is made ready to order and fresh in a timely manor, if dining in they bring your food to table (note: premade breakfast sams available at register for grab and go) the beverages are handcrafted and the coffee seems to be house roasted by Buds, bags for sale at the register - great flavor! I would definitely go back here.
Update: I went back and had a Nitro Cold Brew and Sean's Vegan Special breakfast sandwich and it's ridiculous how good the food and drinks are here! Plus, to no surprise, the service was again a highlight of the visit - everyone seems genuinely nice and you can't go wrong when you get service with a smile! I'm ready for my next visit back! Older: I've been to Bud's on Jay in Schenectady a number of times when I go to the Green Market, as soon as I heard Bud's on the Hudson opened nearby I went running as soon as I clocked out of work. The cold brew here is one of my top cold brews around, so they already have me as a repeat customer for that alone - now bring their food and atmosphere into consideration and I'm sold! The food is incredible, and a decent amount of vegetarian/vegan options, on this trip I had The Vegan Holland and side of Bud's Spuds Home Fries the quality is just as on point as on Jay! I also tried the Arnold Palmer this time around and it was pretty good, definitely more on the sweet side for me but it was refreshing and will be ordered again! This place is larger than Jay Street and they serve alcohol, and they have a bunch of tabletop games to pass the time while you enjoy yourself. As for the staff, they were incredibly friendly and personable, they definitely created an environment that makes me excited to make this a frequent stop for me - which is my experience at the other location and further cements the culture that they create. I see myself making lots of detours, and excuses for those detours, just because I know I will not be disappointed here! I made myself hungry writing this so I'll probably end up there again today! Great location, easy to get to, ample parking, and nice views of the water around it! P.S. the customers had it right, Team Luigi all the way!
I only get to go occasionally. Usually when I'm at my mechanics I come to kill time. But the food is always great and the atmosphere is very cool. They have those neat videogame/arcade tables so bring a quarter!
Their food and Drinks were great. I got the bacon egg and cheese on a bagel, and it was delicious! I'm also happy it doesn't have the nasty chemical taste you get from Dunkin sandwiches.
Solid coffee, breakfast sandwich, love the retro gaming atmosphere. Tyler was a great barista to talk to, friendly environment.

Just like the original....absolutely awesome! Buds is definitely Top 3 in the Capital Region. If you haven't tried them you need to! Great coffee, sandwiches and service. More people need to know about Buds, it's a must stop!

Absolutely love this place! The service is fast and everyone is incredibly kind, you truly feel like part of the family. The manager Tyler seems to be on a first name basis with so many regulars, which really speaks volumes about their customer service. My go-to is always the Chester Arthur latte and the classic sausage burrito, such a perfect way to start the workday. I honestly can’t go a week without stopping in! Love the atmosphere of this place and all the people. If you haven’t yet, you must try!
Incredible spot. Some places do food well, others do drinks well, Bud’s does it all well! My fiancée accidentally was given an iced drink instead of hot and didn’t even mind because it was so good 😂 the McNulty, bud’s classic burrito, Schuyler latte, and maple cold brew were all 10/10. Shoutout Michael and Reva for both providing the best service!
Neat little spot. They have a bunch of arcade tables. The menu has a lot of great choices and the couple of times I've been I always enjoyed what I got. Coffee is great as well. Staff goes above and beyond. I enjoy hanging out here.
Cool place, good vibe. I couldn’t believe it was so crowded (Saturday am before the outdoor Troy farmers market) i think they could come up with better seating arrangements but the video game tables are fun and overall, a great breakfast spot!
Our go to for great coffee and a quick bite to eat. Always made to order. Many choices. Fresh and tasty. A little expensive for the portions.

Great place!! Loved the breakfast! The eggs were delicious and the coffee was good. Loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend.
The coffee and staff were both excellent. However, the food was very mediocre. This visit I had the Greek avocado toast and It was served with almost no feta and on the incorrect bread. Albeit, they loaded It with tomato’s and cucumber but It was an overwhelming amount that shouldn’t have been served on avo toast. All in all, I would come back but just for coffee.
Ran in to grab a coffee. The place is nice and the staff was helpful. The coffee was kinda bleh though. They use torani syrups which sometimes taste weird and I legit couldn't taste espresso in my latte. I actually added shots to my coffee when I got home.
I used to be a huge fan of this place but food and the matcha has lost its luster the food I just received was disappointing the chicken sandwich had a tiny sliver of chicken the tri color pasta salad was dry as can be and had no cucumbers matcha was pure chalk i’m not sure if someone new made my drink or you got a new brand but it was the worst Ive ever had. This place has gone down hill in my opinion won’t be ordering from here again.
Not as cozy as I prefer my coffee houses to be. Worst Irish Coffee I have ever had....they should remove from menu. Lunch food ok...definitely not their thing. Like the cashier said, " we are a coffee house" when I inquired about chili for hot dog.

This expierence wont keep me from coming back.. but!! I was in Buds on the Hudson twice and I really liked the setup they have established. I walked in and grabbed a breakfast sandwich from the front case they had displayed. Im not sure if the case keeps food hot or not but my sandwich was cold. Here's the catch, the quality of the food was great! Egg and bacon were cooked so well, had great flavor amd wasnt overwhelming with cheese and protein to bun ratio was spot on. I WILL be going in to purchase more food and leave hopefully a better higher rated review. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was comfy.
The staff was friendly and pleasant this morning, which made for a nice start. Unfortunately, the latte and bagel breakfast sandwich didn’t quite hit the mark. This place has strong potential, but a few execution details hold it back. The bacon wasn’t cooked until crispy, the bagel wasn’t toasted before wrapping, and the eggs were overly oily. A lighter hand with oil and more attention to texture would make a noticeable difference. The latte tasted more like sweet milk than coffee—I would have preferred a stronger espresso presence. Overall, not a bad place, but not the best by any means. With some refinement, it could be much better.
I'm giving three stars because I ordered on doordash. I received my order. The sandwich was delicious but the smoothie I ordered tasted very funny. It tasted like the motor in the blender was going out and that was getting into the smoothie. So I called to let them know. They didn't offer to rectify or make it right with me so that's why I'm leaving three stars.

I once got an early morning vegan breakfast burrito from Bud's, as it was the only thing open. The chef/cashier told the customer in front of me in line that the vegan food smelled and looked like dog food. The burrito did, in fact, taste awful. Probably because they don't know how to make food or treat their customers with love. Overpriced and nasty vegan food.
For nearly waiting 30 minutes for a classic bagel it was basic. The server at the counter was clearly frustrated because others were getting their food in a timely manner because they were fulfilling…. Respectfully order should be fulfilled in the time that they have been introduced so trying to prioritize online orders while there are physical customers in front of you is not the best idea. I hate it when people are giving me attitude when I’m not even coming off rude and they give me sarcastic comments like we’re busy like clearly, but that doesn’t matter. There’s no reason why other people were behind me are getting their food and drink before my one classic bagel…unacceptable I won’t be back.
Great Atmosphere, but poor service, coffee, and matcha. Food was alright, nothing special. Your basic upstate cafe. The good: vibes were great and there is decent amount of seating. Quaint area to do work in or catchup with friends. Clean and tidy, and the game machine tables are cool! The bad: coffee and matcha were both super watered down with milk and didn’t taste like much. As someone who’s a coffee and tea connoisseur I was disappointed. I ordered the chocolate mousse and it was super dry, definitely left out for a few days. Would be better if it was more dense. But nonetheless the mousse wasn’t horrible. Service was alright but they forgot our order so we asked after waiting 15 minutes and the server exclaimed it slipped her mind. She wasn’t rude or anything, just forgot all our food and drinks. Overall, won’t be back. Definitely not in my top 5 of cafes in the area.

Ordered breakfast three eggs over easy ham and home fries eggs were overdone. Ham was one piece of deli ham heated up. This was a joke.
Ordered from here based on the reviews and I am absolutely flabbergasted that they are so highly rated. Breakfast is the hardest food to ruin but my my food was disgusting! I had a breakfast burrito. Even the dough was awful. This was my first time having disgustingly bland food. It’s usually bland or nasty yet somehow this food was both. It was hard to even swallow. Yuck!
I was the only person at the register and stood there for 5 mins before anyone spoke to me. Both girls behind the counter had scowls on their faces and looked like they didn't want to be there. Finally was acknowledged and got my food but their customer service needs to be worked on or go find a different job if you can't be pleasant to your customers. Big thumbs down.
I am really disappointed with my experience. My mom and I waited about 25 minutes for a breakfast sandwich. When the food finally came out, we still hadn’t received our drinks, so we had to eat our unpleasant sandwiches with no beverage. It got to the point where my mom stood in line for 15 minutes just to buy a bottled soda so she could have something to drink with her meal. We then waited another 35 minutes for two simple coffees and had to ask about them three separate times before they were finally made. It genuinely seemed like no one cared that we had been sitting there for over an hour waiting for a coffee. When the coffees finally arrived, they were disappointing and didn’t taste good at all. I also noticed other customers getting frustrated, and one woman even asked for her money back. (I also witnessed two female baristas laughing together about the upset customer who left.) I didn’t get noticeably upset or ask for a refund. I am a very patient person, but eating an entire meal without a drink and then waiting that long for coffee is unacceptable. Really frustrating experience and made my visit with my mother not as enjoyable as it should’ve been.
The food was good the owner threatened to beat me up and then kicked me out because he thought i i was looking at him but i was looking out window. Rest of staff friendly. I was on a date with my girlfriend. It was probably a misunderstanding from both of us no one acts correctly in those situation
