My fiancé and I had our Night Before at Ryan’s and it was perfect. The staff was very easy to work with and the room was great. We had a few food allergies that they also catered to. We would definitely recommend!

Ryan's Wake is a typical college bar; however, it secretly goes far beyond that. They have created a space in the back of their premises that can be reserved for private parties and gives the feel of renting out an entire historic bar for your event. The fees are very reasonable, and the packages are designed to easily do the math in order to price out tickets or figure out your total. The food is exceptional; trendy and flavorful. Nothing weird, but not boring. The packages have multiple options that help you to create a menu that works best for you. The staff is also amazing. Very caring and attentive. Emily was wonderful to work with and AJ is a great bartender with a lot of knowledge. A large container of ice water sits at the end of the bar to help folks stay hydrated while sipping. Drink prices are also very reasonable. In addition, there is a back deck which is accessible to the entire crowd, but it has a great view of the Hudson and the Green Island Bridge all lit up at night. If you are looking for a great venue for your event AND with decent parking options for a downtown location, this is it.

We did a class reunion for approximately 80 classmates, and I can't say enough positives about the venue. The staff from the kitchen to the wait staff and the bartenders went above and beyond to ensure our event was perfect all the way around. I would strongly recommend this venue as it was ideal for a social gathering for our all of our classmates. Our entire class is still talking about how great this event was. KUDOS to all of your staff and we will see you at our next reunion.

THANK YOU TO WHO EVER GAVE THE HEART REACTION. I WILL PROBABLY NOT GET CREDIT FOR IT. I TRY VERY HARD IN MY REVIEWS. I AM NOT SURE I WILL WRITE ANY MORE. Yesterday, I visited Ryan's Wake, with my wife. It is a very neat, expansive restaurant pub. There is a main front bar (photo) and a patio bar (photo). The patio is very nice and surprisingly quiet with a picturesque view of the river and the Green Island Bridge . Our waitress, Erin, was very pleasant, upbeat, and attentive. A couple other waitresses stopped by during our stay. My wife had a Margarita, which she liked. I had my usual, a beer and a diet soda. They had a short beer (12 oz.), which is always a plus for me. We both had burgers, which were very good. My wife likes hers medium and it DID arrive that way. I prefer well done, which it was, while still being moist. (Photo - partially eaten- could not help myself). The entire staff was friendly. Chris Ryan (photo), was a pleasure to meet. He was very cordial and amicable. Ryan's Wake has reasonable prices and is worth the trip. We shall return.

Had Reuben sandwich , excellent and a Guinness and onion rings. They didn't have soda bread. Ate at bar, nice vibe, great bartender.

We came to town for a music show and needed a quick bite. Ryan’s Wake was recommended . When the menu says “ The Best Ruben You’ve Ever Had” they are not kidding ! It truly was spectacular ! We also ordered the Steak Salad, the steak was tender, greens were fresh and the dressing was great. The service was casual but “spot on” and their prices are too low ! Love, love, love this place ! Well worth a visit.

Stopped in Troy NY on the way home to NJ from skiing at Okemo Mountain in VT. The meal was amazing. Service top notch and great ambiance -lively and fun as you would expect from an Irish pub / tavern. I loaded up the reuben sandwich with corned beef and turkey. Both were hot and delicious on toasted rye.. the chocolate chip cookie lava cake was just wow! This will be a stop on future trips.

I went in this afternoon to ask if they take reservations, and then I returned a few hours to put our name in for a table. The employee who greeted me the first time remembered me when I returned and greeted me kindly. The waitstaff was excellent. The ambiance is great. We ordered the big pretzel to share, and it was crispy and hot when it came out. I'm pretty sure the four of us devoured it in under three minutes. Two in our party ordered the steak salad, and I ordered the Cesar wrap with shrimp and fries. Our fourth ordered the chicken teriyaki. All was good and came out quickly. We will definitely go back the next time we are in town.

UPDATE 8/13/24: This is now the 6th time I've gone since the last review, yeah I said 6th. I'm doubling down on everything below and adding that I appreciate the warm greeting from my guy Jared. Please read below and follow suit. Thank me later! Listen, Linda, listen, this is my second time here and I'm just gonna say it like this, if you haven't gone please bring that you know what there. I honestly love everything I've tried, drinks included in that testament 😂. Does it get a little windy at times, sure -- but thats mother nature's fault and actually feels nice when its 1,000 degrees out. Suggestion is to sit outside whether it is windy or not, enjoy the river and the atmosphere. We had another great server today, Mia or Mya (forgive the spelling), she was attentive and did not try and rush us out after we finished eating, she actually asked us if we were going to just chill out or did we need the check. Now that is some REAL service right there. Who does that today? There is always a feeling of having to rush through a meal, so thank you for not making us feel rushed -- even though we didn't stick around too long afterwards. I met Jared today as well, stand-up guy, gave me a handshake and all. I told him I would be back, and I will be coming back! Pictures are of Baja Tacos, and the Bacon Blue -- I'm fat and I already started digging into that. I had that with the onion rings and homemade blue cheese .. sheesh it was delicious. Also, get the Calamari (extra crispy). UPDATE: pictures are of the Reuben (yeah I took a bite), fish and chips, and Kickin Chicken sandwich all 🔥 Don't wait, don't hesitate just go there and you will enjoy it. Go here! I’ve been in the past (like 5-10 years) but the place has doubled in size since. You should go here for the view and outdoor/ alfresco seating. My husband and I came for a drink. He got a dirty martini and I got an espresso martini. Both strong and delicious and we could pick our own seating in the sunshine. I’ll definitely be back and get dinner next time. Great vibe and location!

They can accommodate small or large parties of 8 here no problem. Great views of the river. Prices for drink seem to vary at the bar and at the tables. Not sure why it's always extra charge for a tall single drink vs short single drink at the table but not at the bar for us? Seems odd since no other bars charge extra for a tall glass.. They just charge the same a single or double shot price. We have come many times here. But the crowds and foods always good and reliable. Hit or miss on the friendliness of the servers. The bartenders are always friendly. Good bit of outdoor seating. Forgot to take more pics 😅

We were a party of 4 with no reservations but they were quick to find us a table. Food was good. Service was excellent. Our only complaint would be the noise level which made it difficult for our party of 4 to have a conversation without shouting.

On December 4th, 2025 a ton of friends got together to celebrate my friend Danielle’s birthday who would’ve turned 21 but passed away three years ago on December 3rd. We all came to ryan’s wake to be together and have a good time but the bartenders were disrespectful and made our experience frustrating. As we walked in at 8pm, we asked if we could sit at a back table to have drinks and the bartender said no you need to be eating. However, the host told us we could as long as we get our drinks at the bar. Then, the mother of our friend that passed ordered 10 shots for us to have a toast to Danielle and told the bartender why we were there. He insisted to bring the shots over because he didn’t want anyone under 21 to be taking any (no one was under 21). As we handed out shots, the bartender said to Danielle’s mom “I’m gonna have to ask you to leave” right after we explained why we are taking these shots because he assumed she handed a shot to someone underage which was not the case. I understand as a bartender you need to be very careful about who you serve, but seeing as she was 21 after he checked the id, it truly ruined the moment. Fast forward to 9:25. Online it says they close at midnight but I assumed 10pm. They flickered the lights at 9:20 and i went up to grab a drink at 9:25 and said “can i have a sun cruiser please” as the bartender looked me directly in the eyes and ignored me instead of saying “we already had last call”. I am very disappointed by this experience especially as someone who comes here frequently on the weekends, and especially given the circumstances. The bartenders need to do better with their interactions and maybe look happy once in a while.

Attended the wake up Wednesday event and went to the bar to ask for a food menu the host says that they have a food kiosk outside down stairs for the event. Go and order a chicken sandwich and cheeseburger. Had to place a order of fries since neither the sandwich or the cheeseburger came with fries. Go back upstairs to table to eat and the chicken sandwich is plain and pathetic, it could have came with lettuce an tomatoes or atleast an option for toppings, instead it was plain. Needless to say won't ever be getting food at said event or even dining inside. The cheeseburger was also a plain burger with a slice of cheese, no options for toppings or condiments. For spending $33.48 on two sandwiches and fries could have ate somewhere else and had better meals. Now granted I didn't ask what was on sandwiches I would have thought they wouldn't have been plain for how much they were charging for them.
