Wonderful place, very inviting and elegant. Service is excellent and the food delicious! Extremely clean and the decor is just fantastic!
Food is exceptional and consistency delicious.seevice is cordial and polite and they are aware of what services your table needs without being obtursive..portions are mor s than adequate. We always leave with a big doggy bag .highly recommend this resturant
Plum Blossom is the best Chinese restaurant in the 518. The interior design is extraordinary! Owner and his staff go above and beyond to create an authentic experience. The hot tea is great and entrées delicious.
One of the more authentic dining experiences that you can go to in the area.
Best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to Food was amazing Decor like out of this world Highly recommend
What an amazing Chinese restaurant. Amazing interior and the food was awesome. Super nice staff. Must go to restaurant next time in I am in town. Loved it.
I haven't been to the Plum Blossom since we moved from the area over 30 years ago. At that time the food was excellent. I have been there twice now since returning to the area and although the interior of the restaurant has seen a significant and beautiful overhaul, I'm glad to say that the food is still excellent and the service is excellent as well. My only critisism is that the music doesnt fit the atmosphere.
My teen daughter and I go there for delicious food, a great atmosphere, and some very amusing people watching. They use paper on some of the tables, which allows my artsy kid to doodle and chat while we wait. Always under a bit of construction, but owners are very kind and virtually always there and willing to chat.
Chuck our server was exceptional! Steve the owner interacts with customers in such a positive way! My shrimp wrapped in bacon was a feast large shrimp so flavorful! My friend had hot and sour seafood soup and general tso chicken tasted so yummy I can’t wait to go back
very yummy food i love it i drove 3 hrs to enjoy this meal the cod with thai egg plant basil is my forever favourite food in this lovely restaurant the owner of this restaurant is really keeping me company and very nice to all his customers, and the staff here are very nice
The chicken dishes here are consistently amazing. It's some of the best I've ever had. They are juicy and never dry or stringy. Everything I have had has been delicious. The only complaint I have is that the shrimp is often overcooked, but it always has good flavor. We come here often, especially on special occasions.
Beautiful restaurant. Best Chinese food I’ve had in a while and absolutely wonderful service!
Plumb Blossom is great. We’ve been going there for almost 30 years and it’s amazing to watch the never ending remodeling unfold. Steve, the owner is there every time we visit and always makes time to say hello and chat a bit. The food is straight aces.
The best authentic Chinese food I have ever have the menu is very easy to read it’s very clean the owners and workers are all very nice. The guy that owns it always talks to our boys and interacts with them like they are his grandkids they absolutely adore him. We will forever come back here when we are near by.
I have been continually patronizing this restaurant even though I now live forty minites away. I have known the waitress June for over 35 years, I have watched the owner Steven age from a teenager to a father whose children now help run the show. It is one of my favorite restaurants EVER. The food is always on point. I have never had a bad dish here. Prices have gone up, most dinner combinatiions are 17-20 dollars. Worth every penny.
Love this place! The food. The atmosphere, the people - it's great.
First time going to the Plum Blossom. Waited 5 minutes for a table for 3. Waiter came over upon being seated for drink order. Ordered the hot tea order of pan fried dumplings and crab ragoon for appetizer. Appetizer was out in about 10 minutes. Order sesame chicken and shrimp lo mein for dinner. Fried dumplings and crab ragoon were cooked perfectly, sauces were also very good. Took about 20 minutes to get our lo mein and sesame chicken after the appetizers came to the table. Everything was hot. Try the hot mustard if you like hot food.
Never judge a book by its cover. This this Asian restaurant is on busy route 7 and doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it is gorgeous ordained with many Asian artwork and architecture the ceiling alone is a masterpiece having said that the only thing that could be more praiseworthy is the food. It is reasonably priced and more Asian authentic than anything else you can get in upstate NY.
Amazing, well made food! Service and atmosphere was great. We will be back!
1st time going and a little over an hours drive and well worth it. Food/pricing very good as atmosphere and comfort. Waitstaff was outstanding from beginning to end. Thank you for a nice evening for the Mrs. and I.
5/5 for me! The staff is friendly and fast! The food was delicious and tasty. Everything was fresh and hot when it arrived to the table. They serve hot tea and water as soon as you sit down and I loved that. They also have the old fried noodles what the hot mustard and duck sauce. This is the best place in Troy that I’ve had.
Best Chinese food ever! Soooooo good. Every bite was a magical experience. I am an uncultured swine and was blown away with the beautiful and fancy nature of this restaurant. The service was outstanding. The price was very reasonable and they give you all sorts of starters that are free and all around just a fantastic experience! Everyone needs to try plum blossom! Such beautiful decor. The woman I took on a date was also very impressed. I can't say enough good things about this place!
Food was delicious. Tea was great. The only thing I would ask is that you make sure you put on the menu that the spring rolls have shrimp in them, as I cannot have shrimp and found out they had them only after biting into it. Thankfully I missed it.
visited this place for lunch (dine in) and I was very impressed by the decor and look of the establishment. I had the teriyaki salmon w/ rice bowl and it was delicious! The salmon was crispy and juicy. The veggies were fresh and the rice cooked perfectly. My partner had the general Tso chicken. The chicken was so tender and juicy that I had to take a few pieces for myself lol . Over all Great experience visiting this place!
Great food. Excellent general tso chicken. Perfectly crunchy and delicious. Amazing building with intricate architecture.
Wonderful service. Opulent atmosphere Delictable dishes. Wish the Dim Sum was available without shrimp but the dishes are masterfully prepared, reasonably priced especially since I must always take half home (this is Egg Foo Young) and the hot mustard is better than sinus medicine lol
All around a good lunch date. Service was quick and attentive. Food was good and plentiful. Had enough to take home.
Excellent food and service. The waitress even gave my kid a band-aid for her finger. Highly recommend!
Such a beautiful decor and lovely people working here. The food speaks for itself, so I highly recommend you visit. Bonus points for the free, complimentary tea that never stops being served.
This is not your average Chinese spot. The decor is beautiful, the quality of the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you go for lunch or dinner, you are greeted by your sever with complimentary fried noodles and a variety of dipping sauces, along with hot tea. I try to hit the menu before 3 because the lunch menu is completely affordable for just about every budget. The dinner menu is more pricey, but totally worth it, if you want to splurge on a great dinner.
The front door is like walking through a magical portal into a Chinese oasis. The building is beautifully detailed with lovely art. It’s truly a great escape into a zen. The first thing you get is tea and crips with dips. Nice surprise to start with. Then we had a little of everything and it was all delightful. The staff even brought out a surprise pack of cookies for this gremlin. Couldn’t have ask for anything better for our random lunch stop
I took my granddaughter out to lunch. I wanted her to see the amazing wood carving of horses they have in the restaurant. I personally love the woodwork inside! She loved it (she herself is incredibly interested in anything horse related). She loved her lunch; she now has a new favorite meal! She got extra attention from our waiter and the owner; I greatly appreciated it because it made our luncheon even more special for her! I told her she just got spoiled! 🙏
Very beautiful interior in the restaurant. Nice classical music playing. Friendly wait staff. Quick service. If you’re looking for Chinese food in Brunswick (and it’s not easy to find!), this place delivers. I had the general tso chicken - delicious. And the shumai was wonderful! Plus their house horseradish mustard was killer on the sinuses, in a good way. Really liked this place!
Recommended as a must try spot by a local friend. The restaurant looks like a palace with many intricate details in architecture and a feeling of peace as you dine. Large menu lots of options. I ordered boneless ribs and general tso. Everything was fresh and delicious. Definitely some of the best American Chinese food outside of San Francisco/NYC. Highly recommend!!
From the moment you step inside Plum Blossom, you're struck by its beautiful, classic ambiance — the interior is often described as elegant and thoughtfully designed, with intricate décor that feels a bit like dining in a traditional Chinese banquet hall. Many diners say the atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit. GAYOT +1 🍜 Food: The menu is extensive, blending classic Chinese dishes with some pan-Asian flair. Favorites include things like hot and sour soup, sesame chicken, chow mein, dumplings, and seafood specialties. Many guests praise the freshness and flavor of their meals, noting that portions are generous and dishes are served hot. 👉 A few long-time visitors rave that it serves some of the best Hong Kong-style dishes in the region. 518 Fever +1 Tripadvisor 👩🍳 Service: Service gets mixed but generally positive feedback. Many diners mention welcoming, attentive staff who make you feel comfortable and take good care of your table. Some reviews, however, note that service can occasionally be slow or disjointed when the restaurant is busy. 518 Fever +1 🏮 Atmosphere: This is where Plum Blossom really shines. Whether you’re enjoying a meal for a special occasion or a casual dinner, the warm lighting, detailed woodwork, and relaxed vibe create a memorable setting. Customers often highlight it as a place to linger over tea, conversation, and food — not just grab fast take-out. 518 Fever +1 💡 Overall: Plum Blossom stands out more for its ambiance and solid service than as a cutting-edge culinary experience — though many dishes are tasty crowd-pleasers. If you’re looking for elegant décor paired with good Chinese classics and friendly hospitality, it’s definitely worth a visit.
Host and server were very kind. No complaints about the food we ordered plenty and had no leftovers. Music wasn't my thing and felt a bit repetitive. Overall, I'd recommend and come again.
I haven't been there in so long but was in the area. It was amazing!! Food is great, atmosphere is wonderful, service was quick.... Highly recommend
The family went here after an afternoon RPI hockey game on Saturday. Arrived about 5:30 PM and had no wait for seating 5 people. The food was excellent. I had the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce combination plate which came with an egg roll, fried rice, shrimp and sauce. It was delicious. Wife had the General Tso's Chicken combination plate which she raved about. Everyone else (daughter and grandkids) thought the food was great. Service was superb. Small appetizer and tea came quickly. Ordered drinks meal which arrived and everyone's person's entre arrived at the same time. The waiter remembered who ordered what and place the meals in front of the correct person. Atmosphere and decorations are enchanting and give you the feeling your in an authentic Chinese restaurant.
Great Chinese food served by friendly staff and surroundings that please the eye. I had the General Tso chicken which was superb, tender and beautifully served with pork fried rice. Also came with a bowl of delicious Hot and Sour Soup. If you love Chinese, try Plum Blossom. New Year's Eve 2026, A second visit, great food and staff. Best Chinese in Capital District.
Probably some of the freshest and best Chinese food we have had in years. You can tell the chicken dishes don't come from a bag but are as fresh and juicy as can be. The egg rolls are not greasy and full of flavor and ingredients. The curry has great flavor without being overly hot. When we visit from Boston we always come here because it is hands down is the best around. Much better than Kowloon (a Boston famous favorite).
Meet with some lady friends for lunch. Food was delicious! I had eggplant in red sauce with rice & tea. Including soup, was just under $15!!!! Left large tip for waitress since bill was so low & she kept up with us with hot tea! Can hardly wait to bring my husband here! Beautiful Chinese decor!
An authentic Chinese restaurant experience felt like stepping into a vintage memory. Back when dining out was an event, not just a transaction. You sat down. You lingered. Tea arrived without asking. The room hummed with quiet ritual. The house-made mustard was perfect—sharp, clean, sinus-clearing in a way that felt intentional, almost medicinal. A small detail that said everything about the kitchen. This was a time when Chinese restaurants were places you dined, not just kitchens that fed takeout containers. Plates were shared, conversations stretched, and the food anchored the moment. No branding. No rush. Just well-worn menus, confident cooking, and the comfort of being cared for.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you so much, Muchísimas gracias, Plum Blossom! My family is incredibly grateful for the amazing experience we had tonight. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were welcomed with such kindness. From beginning to end!! We thank you so much again & wish you many more years, from the farm years-much more success & happiness.
This was the best meal we've had in so long. Everything was screaming hot and so fresh. Not greasy at all and the chicken had a light breading while being perfectly crispy on the outside and so tender and light inside. The dumplings we got as an appetizer were the perfect combination of fluffy and soft outside with an awesome crisp on one side. The meat was so tender and flavorful. I would give this place 100 stars if I could. The portions were so generous and filling with totally reasonable prices. We got an order of dumplings (5), two chicken combination dinners (which came with a big bowl of amazing soup), and hot tea and it was only $47! (And I have enough left over for lunch tomorrow) We will definitely be coming back in the near future and recommend this place to everyone!!
Plum Blossom is always one of our favorite stops in the capital region. Fresh, authentic Chinese food with an exceptional atmosphere and great service. This most recent trip, we order a Pu Pu Platter, Shrimp with Spinach Noodles, and Beef and Broccoli. Never once have we had a bad meal here; 10/10.
The place is very stylish and clean. It really impressed us. We went for a girls' night out. The coconut chicken soup was really nice and different. It was a flavor I wasn't used to and I ate it. My plate was salmon and rice. It was good too. My friends ate noodles. We were generally satisfied. It was a place I can recommend. I like visiting different cultures and restaurants and trying new things.
Best General Tso anywhere! The ambiance in this place is wild. It's so visually appealing. The service is wonderful. Everyone's so friendly. The staff was accommodating. The scallion pancakes are out of this world. Best I've had. I know I said that about the general tso, but this place deserves it. This isn't your regular Chinese food. They do it with TLC here. They've also got Japanese and Thai stuff on the menu. Think I saw Singapore too! Eat here. Get the General Tso, then come back and thumbs up this review 😎
Stopped for lunch with my cousin. Absolutely gorgeous little spot. Menu is beautifully curated with choices for everyone, and the food was delightful. They met us at the table with a pot of hot tea, water, and wanton strips. We had vegetable spring rolls (served piping hot), grilled chicken thighs with kaffir sauce, and e-soo noodles with chicken and crab. Everything was delicious, staff was quick, and the owners were so welcoming and enthusiastic. We will be coming back to try more soon!

I usually stop in on the spur of the moment for shrimp tempura to go. It travels well and is still hot and crispy when I get home. The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing.

I started with the miso soup and some hot tea. The soup was piping hot with scallions, mushrooms and some tofu. I’m not a huge fan of miso soup but it had a good flavor. For my entree I got the spicy tofu and mixed vegetables. It was actually spicy! Had broccoli, snow peas, mini corn, carrots, white mushrooms, bok Choy with triangles of tofu. Also served piping hot with a dome of perfectly cooked white rice. My dad wanted to order the chicken or beef satay but they were out of both, which is a little weird. So he got crab ragoons and chicken wings. My mom got sweet and sour chicken. Good sized portions. Lovely interior, plenty of parking and clean bathroom. I honestly didn’t pay attention to the prices as I was being treated, but my food was very good. Service was prompt but not intrusive.
The place is a stunning inside. Loves the feel of a authentic Chinese restaurant. We were never asked if we wanted anything to drink other than free water and tea. I traditionally like club soda or lemonade iced tea. The food was delicious but I have never sat in such uncomfortable chairs at the tables. They definitely need to update those. I'll be back but ask for a booth.
Shrimp tempura had the legs & shell on the shrimp. Making it very difficult to eat & disgusting!! When I mentioned it to management they said “that’s how they come”…. GROSS!! So, unless you like “EXTRA” crunchy shrimp tempura I wouldn’t recommend ordering that. Finally went with the Poo poo platter. They need a divider to keep the white sauce on the shrimp from running into the sauce on the chicken.

Overpriced and crowded. There are a few competitors who do better nearby but if you like waiting to guess if you’re being seated or like guessing who is your waiter, or, like guessing when you will wave someone down to pay your bill, this is the right restaurant. You can also call and try to guess when someone will answer the phone for take out. Having been here a few times, I can tell you some of the plates are actually good. Scallions pancakes and soups and appetizers are all safe, pleasing, options. However, the food does not make up for the overall experience. Entrée serving size is small and as it is not the best place I’ve ever been to— making the overall poor service the highlight of the experience.
When you first walk into this place you will be amazed. The decor, building structure and lighting are everything you would want when walking into a Chinese restaurant. The seating feels a bit upscale compared to a Chinese buffet, with tablecloths and hot tea served with your water. The menu has a large option of appetizers and entrees. I started with the wonton soup-- it was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. My entree was general tsao's chicken. It was served with rice and an egg roll. Again, good but nothing more than what you could expect at a Chinese buffet. We went on a Sunday at noon and it was not over crowded. Our server was attentive. What made me give this a 3 star was really just the food quality. The entrees were a bit pricy so I expected the quality of food to be better than I can get at a buffet. For the price I paid, I think I'm better off just ordering Chinese at my local take out place next time and save myself the time waiting in traffic on hoosick street.
I felt like Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai the second I walked in surrounded by beautiful hand worked wood columns and decorative molding. Or maybe that was Japan. Maybe I felt more like Chris Tucker in Rush Hour 2. Anyway.... the place looked really cool but the food left a lot to be desired. The wonton soup was average, the chicken wings sucked but that's what I get ordering them from a Chinese restaurant, and the chicken and broccoli with fried rice was good. But the entree was really small and double the price of regular Chinese takeout but not double the goodness. If you want to pay for a place to admire the walls this place is for you, but I'd stick to Ocean Palace. Half the price and better.
This is a very cool Chinese restaurant to eat at in terms of atmosphere. I've been there many times because my mother-in-law loves it but despite all the different dishes I've tried. The food is just okay. I've never had anything there I've really loved. At this point I go for the atmosphere.
The service and atmosphere is amazing. I had the tropical delight drink which was very good and strong. We got the pork fried dumplings which was the best I've had. The main meals of shrimp with mixed vegetables, egg foo young and chicken lomein lacked in flavor. This was our first time coming and definitely will be the last. Spent $77 just to have to bring the food home and doctor it up. The server and owner were very kind

I don’t usually write low reviews, but after a few sad experiences at Plum Blossom I must. Every time I order take out it is very inconsistent. The packaging and the food I actually get is never the same. Tonight, my order was missing 4 spring rolls that I paid for. Also, I was super disappointed with the chicken chow mein (picture added). I waited 30 minutes inside, making the total time from ordering 1 hour. Sadly, this means I will not be returning to Plum Blossom anymore.
Food was sub par. 70$ for 40$ anywhere else. Crab rangoons barely had any filling. best part was the fortune cookie
Food was very bland and pricey. It was shutdown for remodeling a while back, but nothing looks different. In fact the back looks like they just slapped together drywall pieces.
waited over an hour to get our food and finally left without eating \nVery disappointed

First time here and I will not be coming back. Ordered 3 soups, 3 appetizers and 3 dinners. Soups like dishwater. Dumplings awful. Singapore Street Noodles very bland. In fact everything we ordered was mediocre at best. Apparently they have no concept of Spicy Nothing had any spice or taste. Nothing tasted fresh. I love to eat. I love to cook. I would never serve anything like this to a guest. This was so disappointing. Bumper to bumper traffic to get here. Not worth it. $120 without alcohol. Takeout business was booming.
I ordered General Tso’s chicken for lunch and was extremely disappointed to find a worm on the broccoli. I understand mistakes can happen, but this is a serious food safety issue. I took a picture for proof. I hope the restaurant takes this seriously and improves their quality control.
Review for Plum Blossom Restaurant I recently visited Plum Blossom Restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The calamari was not tasty—it lacked flavor and wasn’t fried well or crispy as expected. It felt soggy and underwhelming. The chicken and shrimp spicy dish was another letdown. Despite being labeled as spicy, it had no heat or kick to it, making the dish bland and uninspiring. Lastly, the Pad Thai was simply not enjoyable. It lacked the authentic flavor and balance that this dish is known for. Overall, the food fell short of expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend these dishes based on my experience.
