Our second visit and the food is just as delicious as we remember! Love the service, the seating, the breakfast variety and prices. Loved their "Pork Me" combo $25 which includes half a sausage link, pulled pork So, 2 slices of bacon and 2 pork ribs plus 2 eggs, a side, and choice of bread (highly recommend the corn bread w/honeybutter)...So delicious!! Sorry I didn't take a picture of it since I took it to-go. But I took pics of the other items we ordered.

Portion is great, everyone there is nice. BBQ dishes are pretty good! The burger next table looks very good, I may try it next time. We ended up packing some food to go as there are a lot of food! (Not complaining! :))

Overall delicious. Corn bread is tasty and just about right sweet. Grilled asparagus is a little too oily. Beef rib is juicy, but beef brisket is dry. Pork rib is juicy and a little bit touch of fruity sweet, but pork link is a little salty and hard to cut off with a knife.

Smokey's Kitchen is a good BBQ restaurant in Truckee, CA on Donner Pass Road just off the 80 freeway. I had the Whiskey Steak which was very good and was basically a rib eye steak with their whiskey sauce (normally they use a New York steak). Friendly staff and reasonably sized food portions. The corn bread is really good. During the day you can sit out on the patio and get a good view of the local mountains.

Cute place super close to Donner Park. The staff were lovely and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the meal we took to-go. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich - he loved it 10/10. I got the brisket and cheese sandwich- it was pretty good and fatty. The BBQ sauce seems to be tomato based. We ordered garlic fries to share and those were AMAZING! Big portions.

We go here ever winter when we are in town. It was obvious the portions got smaller this year. The meat which is suppose to be the star of the show was dry. The steak ($49) was cooked alright but their was no seasoning...Not even salt and pepper it was pretty bad. My sides were not great either the lettuce for the ceaser salad was extremely bitter, no one wanted to eat it. The chili was the size of a dixie cup- for $8? Overall for the hefty price tag of everything, I dont think it wasworth it. The quality is not there. Customer service was great and friendly though.

A longtime establishment and must be a local favorite! The brisket was good but cold The cornbread was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chicken was dry. Pulled pork was new mixed with old meat…off tasting bites. The sauce on the table was 🎉. It helped the whole meal and added it to the cowboy beans to kick up the flavor. I’m so used to slow smoked Southern style BBQ, so I have to chalk it up to this place just being a local favorite and that is ok! 👍🏻 Close to Donner Pass. Very charming atmosphere!

3% extra charge to customers to use a credit card which they don't tell you when they bring the bill to your table. I only found out when I went to pay inside. Outrageous added charge on top of their very high prices for casual dining with paper napkins, pour your own coffee refills, and outside dining on a busy road. $18. Plus tip. for one regular coffee and a two egg breakfast with potatoes and bread. Dog friendly in the outside patio area and even brought a bowl of water for my dogs. Friendly attentive service with patience answering my questions. Nice size pieces of salmon in the Smoked Salmon Tacos which comes with delicious mango salsa. There is much traffic noise. Available parking. Clean bathroom. Food good but not worth the high prices.

Cute restaurant, expansive bar. Lots of seating. We found the service to be friendly but the meat to be just a bit too dry for our liking. Rates as decent BBQ, missing that smokey flavor that you'd expect. Unfortunate for a restaurant called 'Smokey's'. Still worth a try (or two).

Burgers were great, first and foremost. Big patty, grilled bun, etc., a la carte. Basic cheeseburger $16, small fry 6.75. The rest, not so great. Progressively priced 29 dollar sandwiches, large fries 15.75 (see photo), $40-50 meat plates. The smoked meat sampler tasted warmed-up. I don't blame them, if so, since no one was in there (on a Saturday), hard to justify smoking fresh meat every day. The sampler consisted of one "Beef rib" which was a big knuckle with almost no meat, two small slices of brisket, two pork rib bones. $18. In 2020, a sign was posted saying they raised prices 10% due to covid. Now that covid is in the past, prices are about 50% higher. Higher? My burger was $11 in 2022, yesterday $16. Meat sampler was $16 in 2023, now $18. I realize everything costs more now in CA, but it didn't have to be this way. If you voted progressive, thank yourselves for this austerity. I had a shake and cheeseburger in Austin recently - it was $8. Bill at Smokey's was about $190 with cash tip (as requested).

What happened to this place? Entire family feels sick after eating here. Everything looked and tasted like microwaved leftovers. And it cost $230 for two adults, two eleven year old boys and one 4 year old boy. No alcohol either. My brisket was about the size of a Costco sample. I’d post pictures but I don’t want to do more damage.
