This place felt like coming home after a few weeks of traveling. As female travelers, we felt really safe and cared for. The owner, as well as her companion, are really friendly. We even extended our stay. Tulum can be hectic, but I could always recharge in my room, and to be honest, I had one of the best sleep of my life because their beds felt like clouds and were large. Showers were hot and had strong water pressure. We remained in room 1 for the duration of our stay. The cleaning was done carefully, and we could always seek tips or assistance in town. The hotel offers bike and scooter rentals, and as true Dutchmen, we rode our bikes to the beach, which took 20 minutes if you went to Playa Paraiso. Good thing to know: you can always refill your water free and they give beach towels. If you're traveling as a group (2-4 persons) and don't want to break the bank, but still want privacy, instead of staying in hostels, this is the place to stay. Also suitable for travelers who want peace and quiet rather than being in the thick of a party in the hotelzone or on the main road downtown. Thank you for everything and see you in the future!

Nice hotel well located, in the center, near restaurants, ADO bus terminal, mini bus station, archaeological site and beaches at 15-20 min by bike. Large rooms with space, calm (better stay on the West side), comfortable and clean. Big bathroom with italian style showers, the hot water is really hot 🙂 Efficient aircon and wifi. The staff is really friendly, helpful and pay attention to their customers. Spanish English German Dutch spoken fluently. You can rent bicycle at the hotel and book tours (boat trip to Punta Allen is great and no commission). I fully recommand! Tulum is a bit more expensive than other areas but El Capitan worth the value

20/10 The staff are awesome and always make a big effort to make you feel comfortable. I am working remotely so a good WiFi connection was important to me. Easily the best WiFi connection I've seen in Tulum so far. El Capitán is in an excellent location in centro Tulum with shops, supermarkets and nice restaurants close by. The building is new and the rooms and facilities are clean and look great! I originally booked for one week but now have re-booked for a long term stay. I HIGHLY recommend staying here, you won't regret it

Good place, with good rooms and kind people, but is a little bit noisy due parties and constractions at night. But the rooms are facing far side so it is bearable.

I think it's a great hotel. We slept in the room near the stairs and the noise couldn't be worse ( we woke up few times because of that). I think the people in the hotel made so much noise but I think the hotel should improve the soundproofing because it wasn't normal, if someone would have whispered, we could have heard that too. Besides of that, there was a horrible smell in the room. No matter what we did, it won't fade away. We asked for help and they didn't know where the smell comes from, but it was impossible to breath it. I'm glad we didn't stayed that much in the room. I think they should check that too. Great hotel, but it could have been better without those problems. Everything else was ok.

We came to eat here on our way to our hotel. The food was just ok. I wasn’t impressed. I would not be going back. The service was also just ok. I ordered a soda and the waiter forgot and started up a conversation with someone from our party. I had to remind him multiple times about my soda haha.

We are a group of 40 seniors. On October 20th, we stopped by for lunch and everything was fine. However, today, we spoke to the owner by phone two hours before our arrival and sent him each guest's order. The owner promised to have the food ready, and lo and behold, when we arrived, two tables of about 50 people were reserved for a group of Americans, and our dishes were nowhere to be seen. So, they told us that if we wanted, we could go after them and wait at least an hour. If, as always, they're going to give priority to foreigners over locals, well... Avoid this place if you're not a foreigner, and generally avoid Tulum. There are better places in both Quintana Roo and Yucatán, because unfortunately, the service providers in Tulum are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. It's their problem.
