I've lived in Tokyo and have had some of best sushi there. This place is fantastic and is in a great location. Service was good, sushi and sake was great. Location is nice as well. Solid sushi joint in LA!

Truly one of my fav sushi places in major cities in the US. tried new rolls tn and literally anything I try is amazing. 10/10 will always go back. happy to officially be a local :)

This is the greatest sushi place I have ever been to. It is also the only sushi place in LA I have ever been to, so maybe they are all this good, but that feels impossible to me. I can't handle the idea that better sushi exists because I've already had to shift my standard for good sushi so severely after going to this place that I'm unsure my gentle brain could take another brutal shakeup like this. Please try to ask the sushi chef if he has any recommendations, and try not to add "san" to the end of his name because I tried that and I sounded like a tool.

I enjoyed catching up with a buddy here. The the sushi was good, fresh, and presented well. The atmosphere was alright. I did like how it was laid out and decorated. However, it was crowded and loud.

You can find better sushi someplace in Los Angeles, but you won't find better ambience or vibe. This place is quintessentially Venice, they project surf videos on the back of the bar and their happy hour is killer. If gentrification takes this place, we riot.

Bonjour, I had dinner outside in the patio with comfortable COVID-19 protocols in place. Lovely evening with 3 girl friends. The service was excellent and the owner Esther delightful. The food fresh and beautifully presented. Bakes mussels,asparagus,blue crab roll, yellowtail roll, shishito peppers( These are a must try) jalapeno yellowtail and the yummy roll. I am a local and totally enjoy Hama Sushi and highly recommend dinner there soon.

Hama is a fun dinner! My husband and I like to come here on Friday or Saturday nights and eat lots of sushi and drink lots of sake! The energy is great because the place is packed with people having a good time and it feels like a little more than just a restaurant. We usually Uber or walk because it's fun to get tipsy here!

Hama has a great location with outdoor seating. Sushi and other choices were excellent and the service was outstanding, we would definitely eat here again. Highly recommended for a casual night out enjoying beer and fresh sushi!

The sushi here is spectacular! It's definitely a cut above other local sushi restaurants, and you'll pay that slight premium. It's absolutely worth it though! They have so many creative and delicious specialty rolls (the Temptation Roll is my favorite) you can keep coming back to try them all. If you're visiting Venice, Hama is a MUST TRY. If you live in Venice, don't be like me and miss out on this any longer!

Great atmosphere and delicious food. The presentation of the chefs and servers is all part of the experience, so fun to watch! Everything on the menu is fairly priced in my opinion, though I will say that the specialty rolls are a bit pricey. The taste is worth trying at least one to share if you're splitting the bill with a friend.

The food here is amazing. Came in to town with some friends and we were trying to find a sushi spot and came across Hama! We had the spicy edamame and calamari for appetizers. Both very flavorful and the calamari was light and crispy. For our main dishes we tried the surf and turf sushi and avocado salad... DELICIOUS! Just when I thought we were finished the waitress recommended the fried cheesecake. I mean mouth watering, sweet but refreshing at the same time. I wish there was a spot like this in DC!!! A must and definitely coming back the next time I’m in LA.

Literally the BEST sushi place on the Westside! They recently remodeled and the new atmosphere is stunning. Happy hour is from 3-7, bar seating only, and the specials are delicious and very inexpensive. The full menu is fantastic and the service is wonderful. IT'S THE PLACE TO BE!!!

When I went to this restaurant, there were already a lot of people. I sat at the bar enjoying hot sake and draft beer. You might feel that sushi is pricey. However, everything I had was delicious and staffs were so kind and frinedly. Tony, who is a manager, was kind and nice.

I loved dining at this low-key but solid Japanese restaurant that had a great selection of both cooked and sushi options. My colleague and I dined at the sushi bar and enjoyed our meal which consisted of generous portions of avocado roll (solid), chicken yakitori (yum), gyoza (pretty good, but a little bland), udon and a dragon roll. The drinks are large and strong, the staff friendly and the vibe pleasant.

Decent sushi, nothing special. To be honest, it was a little more than I expected for the quality and taste but maybe that's due to the location of the actual restaurant. I don't know if this would be my #1 choice if I were to ever come back

Hama is great, but their hours are bizarrely limited. No lunch, no late night even on weekends. They have a 10pm close (listed in person, 9:30 online) every night, but last call for food is 9:15pm, so in reality they're only open for 5 hours a day since they don't open until 4pm. Obey those exact sushi time parameters or you're SOL. My dream is a Hama that's open for lunch and open till midnight weekends.

This place is delicious! My only gripe is how incredibly long it took for the food to come out. Once it made it, we all really enjoyed it and the sake was fun to drink, their presentation of it was enjoyable too!

A Westside staple, consistently good sushi and a variety of creative rolls. Of note the bar has tv’s overhead (you either like it or you don’t) the sushi bar is more traditional (which I recco). This Venice hot spot lived up to its hype. Ambience is nothing fancy but the interior has modern touches. My spicy tuna rolls were flavorful and the vegetable tempura was crisp outside. The dinner menu has many selections and there is a sushi menu too you can view on your phone for touchless contact. Yummy fried green tea ice cream. Still tasting it weeks later. Service was pretty good but could have been better. It gets busy and the wait staff are not as organized as they could be. Took quite some time for everyone (4 people) at our table to be served altogether. If you are in Venice and have a taste for sushi, take a stroll to Windward circle. Inside and outside seating. Public parking lots, metered street parking for one hour only. Masks required. Give this place a try if you like Sushi.

Decent sushi place on a quiet-ish roundabout. Good food. Polite and helpful staff. If you don’t want a HUGE sports screen looming over you as you eat then go for an outside table or the more quiet and sophisticated side of the venue where the chefs are doing their thing!

Was expecting pretty mediocre sushi here but it was quite good considering the price! I don't believe it's related to the Hama in little Tokyo and doesn't feel like it is either, lots of speciality rolls and non sushi items, all were pretty good. Get the shishto peppers, Karage and a couple of rolls and you'll be good to go.

Decent sushi. Great prices and staff. You can definitely cure your sushi hankering here after a day at the beach. While the selection doesn't blow you away, you'll be pleased by their preparation.

Such a bummer. Grew up here and while it never would have been confused with the fish on Ventura, it at least was decent growing up. Last visit awful fish, awful service, they don't have a food runner??? Server was nice, just overwhelmed. Sent grilled squid back after 20 minutes and brought back just as cold. They just don't care and my guess is the tourist don't know any better. Served the Yellowtail with the skin on it, nuff said.

The food was tasty & fresh but horribly overpriced for the little you received. $25 for the Supreme Sushi Sampler … which was four (!) pieces of sushi! The prices are ridiculous!! $8 for two piece of mediocre and tiny sushi? $9 for a simple tofu appetizer !! The lack of asian customers should have been a red flag already. Total tourist trap!

I came here because it was rated high. I realize post covid things are tough. But this was such horrible service I would never recommend. Cold edamame that had been waiting for ever. A waitress that was only visible three times. At a sushi restaurant I want to keep ordering more food after I finish. I had three orders that took 1+ hours. The worst part was the food was good. I would have easily spent more had they actually cared about serving me.

The sushi is what you want to go for here. The salmon Teriyaki was way small and really not that tasty with mash potatoes...see pic of dish...so only 2 star. The environment is nice though and I think the sushi deserves more stars but Teriyaki was 2 star at best

I was with my wife and daughter and instead of being seated in the restaurant we were seated on the patio in a horrible location in the corner between the kitchen and dishroom. Constant employee traffic between the two. By the way. They were not packed when we got there and we had reservations only to get the worst table in the house in the bar area with my family.

Hama oh Hama. I was a regular at this place for 15 years. It used to be decent sushi at a decent price. There was a nice happy hour that saved you a few bucks. Now it’s decent sushi at a quality sushi price. And the happy hour doesn’t offer much in the way of savings at all. You’re blowing it. I miss the old Hama.

I've had much better sushi in tourist destinations for much less money. I'm willing to pay for good food, but this was not. Sounded imaginative on the menu, but taste was lacking. Server very kind and attentive (5 stars) but did not know how to open a bottle of wine. Noisy roundabout area, so not good for dates or "intimate dining," but we were there for fun so it wasn't a problem. Wish my review could have been glowing, but too much was below average for us to recommend it to anyone.

We ordered the crispy rice appetizer, the green devil roll, red devil roll, shiso lemon roll, and rainbow roll. With drinks, our total was $112. The green/red/shiso rolls were all pretty underwhelming - I would not recommend. The crispy rice app was interesting but not great - it was interesting to try but not worth getting again. The rainbow roll was good. We arrived around 7:10 but only got our food at 8 PM -- kind of a long wait. The wait staff and ambiance were all fine. Altogether, I didn't really enjoy my experience or the food (again, only the rainbow roll was good -- the rest was a miss). I wouldn't recommend this restaurant or visit again.

I had the beef & onion udon. Very low on flavor which I was surprised by because udon is typically flavorful. Service was slow. The waitress misunderstood my friend's order so my friend had to wait 40 mins for her sushi order 🤦‍♀️ Pretty disappointed. I personally won't be coming back

No chopsticks?! How do you except me to enjoy a $250 dollar delivery meal without chopsticks. Imagine how we ate this... With our fingers (as we are traveling and ordered from a hotel). Taste was horrible and the experience trying to enjoy sashimi with no chopsticks will be one that will never forget. WORST CHOICE.

Extremely expensive food poisoning. We all got sick after eating here. Sushi tasted old, and we ordered 4 rolls. Wine tasted like it had been opened and left out over the weekend. I don't know why this place was packed!

I went to this restaurant last night and it was the worst thing ever! The host and servers were great but when our food came out everything went downhill. I ordered the lobster miso soup which was okay but the sushi was so dry and bland that it was hard to swallow without using water to assist. The teryaki beef was DISGUSTING and looked old and the rice that came with it was also so dry that i could not swallow it. Even the soy sauce that they used was disgusting and cheap tasting, I would never recommend this to anyone!! My friend wasted $67.71!!!

I am a Postmates driver and I waited for 45 minutes to pick up an order that was placed when I was already 15 minutes away. Was not offered a drink or anything while I was waiting. I was there for so long, I saw couples come in and out ( so I'm assuming that it is a good date spot) and saw over a dozen delivery drivers come and go only waiting about 5 minutes. I guess it's your choice whether you want to roll the dice or not, but this is my first time here and I hated it

Very bad experience. Sushi itself was fine, but everything around it not. Starters came after the entree and 2 orders were completely forgotten. They started closing (raised chairs and disassembled the pavilion) while we were still eating and added a mandatory tip at the end. We feel ripped off. I do not recommend coming here.

STAY AWAY. This is literally the worst sushi I have ever had in all of Los Angeles. Writing a review to warn everyone to not come here. Went here last Friday night for the first time in years. I remember it wasn't mind blowing years ago, but it wasn't this bad. I don't know if I could even be eating at the same places as other reviews. The only thing edible was the edamame and peppers. The sweet shrimp which our waiter recommended was so bad I spit it out. It tasted rotten. The rice was messy on the sushi and the fish chewy and ratios were way off. Miso cod was dry beyond belief and flavorless. Sashimi was stringy and rubbery. Even the Sake was not great and overpriced. I wish I took photos to show how horrifying it was. Nothing looked anything like others that post. I'm feeling ill just thinking about it. There are so many delicious Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles. Hama is so disgusting it should be a criminal offense that they even serve food here. For 280 dollars we could have had a pretty nice meal at a fantastic restaurant. Please avoid for your own sake and support Japanese restaurants that actually care about the cuisine!!!!

Quite possibly the worst dining experience ever. I understand that post Covid, things are hectic, but they should not open the outdoor dining if they cannot service customers well. We take our seats outside and start with a couple glasses of wine. The wine took about 30 minutes to come, along with the water. We order our food, an hour passes and we get nothing. Our wine glasses are empty and the server is nowhere to be found. I finally get a hold of a busser and ask him to get us more wine and check on our food. Another 15 minutes passes, and it's starting to get cold outside. The busser gets back to cleaning tables and neither our wine or food is anywhere to be found. I chase him down again, and ask him how long it takes to pour 2 glasses of wine? He runs back inside to check on it, and five minutes later, our original server emerges with the wine and no food. She apologizes and simply says that it's coming. Now while all this is going on, an extremely inebriated couple are making quite a ruckus. The guy literally takes her pants off in front of everyone and kisses her where the sun doesn't shine. A few moments later, he drops and breaks a beer bottle. The girl is running away from him and he's chasing him down. The manager, Tony, allows them to continue this ruckus for quite some time before eventually kicking them out of the restaurant. Another 30 minutes later, we get our food and don't even bother to order more as we don't want to wait another 2 hours for some sushi to come. We close up and leave as quickly as we could and get some In N Out. I called Tony, the manager, to complain and he says the drunk couple were actually doing E and Coke in the bathroom on top of getting wasted on sake and beer. I tell him that this type of behavior and overall service (taking over 30 minutes to bring out wine) is unacceptable. He apologizes and simply says "I look forward to seeing you here again" in a somewhat sarcastic tone. Hama Sushi use to be a gem of Venice, but with this new set up and management, it is degenerating into one of the worst dining experiences of all-time. I do not recommend going here under any circumstance until better managers can take over. There are plenty of other great options in West LA.

Not authentic, overpriced and terrible food. Worst Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been in LA. Everything was insanely slow. We ordered Shiso Lemon Roll which, according to the menu, should have white fish on top. Among all the pieces, there were 2 pieces covered with actual crazy sour lemon with very little white fish… pretty sure they just replaced the fish with lemon cuz they ran out of it. Karaage looked and tasted like $5 popcorn chicken at fast food places Ramen took the longest time and only had 2 tiny pieces of BURNT Chashu in it. Asked the waitress if there was supposed to be an egg in the ramen as we read on the menu, the reply was - “I don’t know. Maybe they changed the menu or something” Bruh Cost was ~90$ for 2 people and we were still hungry lol

Made a reservation on Resy for Saturday night. Received the requisite confirmation texts. Drove to the restaurant to find it closed. Called the next day and left a message, no call back. Tells you a lot about what they think of their customers.

We had made a reservation well in advance via Resy but when we got there (having walked all the way from Santa Monica), the restaurant was closed for the 4th of July weekend. We received no notification or cancellation of our reservation.

Only good thing here were the ladies preparing the rolls, they were very nice and great service. Other than that, rolls are small and expensivee. I ended up leaving and buying a slide of pizza.
