Sono stata qui a pranzo per il mio compleanno, abbi mangiato bene, piatti abbondanti, servizio abbastanza veloce, il posto è piccolo, carino. Il menù è abbastanza vario. Consigliato.

Locale accogliente e personale gentilissimo, i tortelli al branzino e i dolci erano squisiti. Il bicchierino di vinsanto offerto con i dolci ci ha conquistato! ♥️

Ottimo pasto. Atmosfera e arredamento tipici. Coda di rospo alla griglia con verdure. Il proprietario è molto gentile. Non andate a Venezia senza aver mangiato in questo ristorante.

Siamo stati all'osteria per cena e dobbiamo dire che è stata un’esperienza davvero memorabile. Un grande applauso va a Vittorio, il nostro cameriere: simpaticissimo, alla mano e capace di intrattenerci come fossimo amici di vecchia data. Abbiamo prenotato su TheFork e ci siamo trovati benissimo. Passiamo al cibo: semplicemente spettacolare. Il pepato di cozze era qualcosa di straordinario, probabilmente le cozze più buone che io abbia mai assaggiato in vita mia! Poi siamo passati agli spaghetti: due porzioni alle vongole e una al nero di seppia, tutto davvero delizioso. E per finire, un tiramisù che si scioglieva letteralmente in bocca, un finale perfetto. Insomma, grazie a TheFork per gli sconti, grazie alla cucina del locale per averci fatto fare un viaggio di sapori e grazie a Vittorio per la professionalità e la simpatia. Una serata da ricordare e una recensione super meritata!

After a long day of exploring Venice we had dinner at L’Osteria San Barnaba. We arrived late for our reservation, but the staff welcomed us warmly and never rushed us. I ordered the cuttlefish ink pasta, and it was extraordinary. The sauce clung to the noodles like velvet, rich and briny with the taste of the sea, faintly metallic in the best way. It even stained my tongue and fingers as I used bread to wipe up the last drops. My wife chose the homemade gnocchi in spider crab sauce, pillowy-soft dumplings bathed in a silky, flavorful sauce that she called some of the best gnocchi she’s ever had. We were there late into the night with glasses of Fratelli Brunello grappa, comparing tasting notes and enjoying the staff’s patience with my horrible Italian. Our server even smiled through my slow, deliberate attempt at a full sentence, encouraging me as if to say, “You’ve got this.” We laughed and made friends with a French couple at the next table, clinked glasses, and ended the night with a shared toast of limoncello. L’Osteria San Barnaba is the kind of place where food, wine, and warmth all come together. From the extraordinary pasta to the genuine hospitality, it’s a dinner we’ll be talking about for years.

Being venice a very touristy city, it is rare to find a place like this! The quality of the food is very good and the prices are also affordable. Worth noting is the staff, kind, polite and very welcoming. I recommend the sarde in saor, a typical dish from Venice! Every day I see many tourists eating frozen pizzas at very pricey restaurants, it’s sad honestly! Traditional food is the one you have to look for while traveling and this place is definitely worth a visit.

We visited this place when walking around the city and we liked the quality of food, service and atmosphere of the restaurant. The prices are much lower than in restaurants nearby. Food was really tasty and tasted Italian. Be careful in Venice as a lot of restaurants cook Italian style food but not managed by locals and food doesn’t taste really Italian. This restaurant was authentic.

Really enjoyed the food - eggplant pie was amazing and so was the fettuccine with salmon. The friendly staff were the cherry on top; made us feel welcome and even got to try some sweet wine on the house. Will definitely swing by again if back in the area!

The cutest little restaurant hidden in the streets of Venice.. we just stumbled upon it while walking around on our first night in Venice and we just had to come back for a second time.. The service was amazing! The restaurant itself is very nice and cozy ..and the food?? i was blown away.. especially the tiramisu! - i would say it was the best dessert i’ve EVER had -( if one day i come back to Venice, this would definitely be one of the reasons.. ) Overall very fresh, homemade and amazingly delicious food ❤️ thank you!!

We had a wonderful experience tonight. The waiter out the front was welcoming. We booked through the fork. There is a cover charge, but they brought out bread which was part of this, and also gave a spirit ?limoncello at the end on the house. We had the squid ink pasta and the Vongole which were both exquisite, as well as the cod polenta entree. Tiramisu was the best we had. Highly recommend.

The house wine was delicious (5€/glass) and I tried new dishes I never saw before and was hoping to find in Venice (as the skid ink pasta, which was great). The eggplant apetizer was twice as big, but I only took a picture once I had my share. They charge water, but they offered bread basket and sweet wine, and the service was perfect. We had a great time.

Excellent food! This is how to eat in Italy - walk outside of a main area, find a little back alley, and stop in for food. Excellent food and service, very reasonable prices. It's a small spot, but totally worth it. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Rambling through Venice, on our way back to our hotel from San Marco, we were searching for a place to allow my wife to have a high quality gluten-free dinner, when the owner outside San Barnaba saw us examining the posted menu and invited us in. Inside, the place was warm and welcoming and their gluten free offerings extensive and delicious. Islam, the owner, was solicitous and warm, and met our every culinary desire. My decidedly non-gluten free mixed fried seafood was fantastic, as was my wife’s gf pasta. Also great were the grilled vegetables. A home run, and a place to return to in Venice, especially if you’re planning an evening visit to the nearby Venice Jazz Club.

We walked over to this area 1 night for late dinner. Did not know where to eat. Was looking at the menu and price when owner came out and greet us. We decided to give it a shot since it's not expensive. Food was great, bread and olive oil was the nicest we ever had. We are in Rome now and before that we were in Florence but we still miss the food here in Venice. Can't say it's the best in Venice but 100% sure it's 1 of the best and really worth the price. We only ordered 1 mains but we went in at 9pm still feeling very full from a late lunch and we still feel the food was so nice. Imagine if we were super hungry.. Total we paid €58 for the food in the pictures.

The restaurant was very traditional and loaded with fine dining aspects to modern vendig culture. The true feeling of Italy is felt through the nice Italian wine and traditional serving of salads with bread and olive oil with some cracker bread to go with it. Serving time with just us alone in the restaurant was about 20 minutes. Seems that even noodles are on, made to order basis, not bad, that's good. We had spaghetti carbonara and spaghetti with clams. Both tasted very good and was made the traditional way. In other words it was worth the wait! I would recommend this restaurant. The waiter is very nice too, funny as well.

Ci siamo fermati a cena dopo una giornata a Venezia con amici. Il locale è ben curato, con pochi tavoli e un arredo storico/tipico del luogo. Il servizio e il menù sono semplici, con piatti tipici del luogo ad un prezzo moderato. Il tutto abbinato ad un vino ha reso la cena molto piacevole. Consigliato se siete alla ricerca di un'osteria tipica veneziana.

Abbiamo mangiato bene all’Osteria San Barnaba: nulla di eccezionale, ma nella media un buon ristorante, soprattutto considerando che a Venezia è facile incappare in trappole per turisti. La qualità del cibo era buona; il nostro piatto preferito sono state le cozze e vongole. Ottima la polenta, fresca e ben fatta. La frittura nella norma. Le tagliatelle pistacchio e capesante avevano una porzione abbondante e un gusto particolare: buone, anche se il pesto di pistacchio era un po’ troppo intenso e copriva le capesante. Caffè da rivalutare, purtroppo non era buono. Il proprietario e il cameriere sono stati gentili e disponibili, e a fine pasto ci hanno offerto un bicchierino di vino dolce. Un posto onesto dove si mangia bene senza aspettarsi grandi sorprese.

Cibo ottimo, porzioni medie-abbondanti, servizio veloce (forse un po troppo, sembravano mandarci via). Tavolini leggermente stretti ma nulla di troppo grave. Personale gentile

Very cosy, not too big, excellent vibes. Outside of mega tourist territory, but it's small enough that it doesn't feel touristy either way. Very coeliac friendly with very understanding staff. Gluten free pizza was decent by Italian standards and the best you've ever had by UK standards. Very affordable, good Aperol. Normal pizza was decent.

It was our last night in Venice. Having a great last meal their was key. It was raining cats and dogs, so I chose to stay fairly close to our accommodation. We had the lamb and calamari. All was delicious, but the cost for the calamari was too high for the portion served. In a way, this is a compliment. Nevertheless, it was a good last meal.

A great little place. The service is very friendly and the place looks nice and cosy. The food is good, not the best we had in Venice but tasty and fairly priced. When you sit down you are offered water, be advised that it will show up on your bill. It is not clear that it is not on the house. There is a small cover charge which is fine but normally you get some bread or breads ticks but that is not the case here.

Esperienza purtroppo molto deludente. Il locale è molto turistico, ma la qualità del cibo è a molto Scarsa. Abbiamo ordinato una pasta alle vongole che si è rivelata estremamente scotta e insipida, con vongole di qualità scarsa, la pasta sapeva i vino non sfumato. Anche il servizio ha lasciato a desiderare: ci sono stati serviti bicchieri e piatti sporchi, che abbiamo dovuto far riportare indietro. Inoltre, su consiglio del cameriere, abbiamo ordinato la caraffa di vino della casa, pagandola 20 euro, praticamente quanto una bottiglia. La qualità era però molto scarsa, era annacquato. Abbiamo prenotato con un gruppo di amici tramite the fork con uno sconto sul pranzo. Premetto che se una piattaforma dà visibilità ad un ristorante con in cambio uno sconto non è il cliente a doverci rimettere. Nulla da dire sul signore che ci ha servito che ha cercato di fare il suo lavoro ma per il resto purtroppo siamo rimasti molto delusi. Poco puliti, infatti abbiamo chiesto di cambiare vari bicchieri, piatti per l’antipasto ancora bagnati e lo stesso cameriere li ha cambiati più volte. Cibo incommentabile, credo che il pesce non fosse fresco , la polenta insipida e con grumi , gli spaghetti alle vongole avevano il sapore di vino misto ad acqua. Ci hanno proposto una caraffa di vino della casa (20€) ma credetemi meglio ordinare una bottiglia per quel prezzo. Non torneremo sicuramente

È una TRAPPOLA PER TURISTI, non cascateci! Ho ordinato spaghetti con nero di seppia, tortelloni con baccalà, gamberoni e asparagi e una polenta con le sardine. I piatti sono arrivati dopo 5 minuti.. Gli spaghetti erano scotti e probabilmente precotti, visto che c’erano pezzi di seppia freddi. La polenta era fredda di frigorifero, acquosa e sciapa, mentre i tortelloni erano 4, con 3 gamberetti e tanti asparagi al sapore di Curcuma, a formare un piatto molto pesante e super speziato. Il tutto per 59 euro. NO!

Disappointing Experience at L'Osteria San Barnaba I recently dined at L'Osteria San Barnaba in Venice on October 3rd, and I must say it was a deeply disappointing experience that left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected. Upon entering the restaurant, the female staff member serving us rolled her eyes, which immediately set a negative tone. Throughout our meal, her rudeness and arrogance were evident. Not only did she fail to provide us with utensils upon our arrival, but she also laughed at our words and accents when we tried to communicate. When a different male waiter attempted to assist us, she dismissed him and asked him to leave. I appreciate the male waiter's efforts to apologize for her behavior and to provide us with the best welcome he could under the circumstances, but unfortunately, it was not enough to salvage our experience. While the meal itself was satisfactory, the service completely overshadowed it. I urge the management to take a closer look at the numerous negative reviews online, as many customers have reported similar issues regarding staff attitude and poor customer experiences. This pattern of behavior is concerning and reinforces my belief that the incident was a significant mistake on the part of the waitress. As a blogger and influencer who has documented various aspects of my Italy trip on social media, I can confidently say that this was the first time I encountered such a nightmare dining experience. I sincerely hope that the management addresses this issue and takes appropriate action regarding the staff involved. Until then, I cannot recommend L'Osteria San Barnaba to others looking for a pleasant dining experience in Venice.
