This is an excellent spot to get a drink, relax and enjoy great food. The host was friendly and helpful. Our waitress Gorina was an excellent person. Constantly checking up on us and making sure we were doing well. She was well adverse with the menu and made great suggestions. I am a nervous flyer and just sitting here and enjoy the environment set my mood at ease
Brandon Johnson was our favorite waiter at El Primo on New Year’s Day. He started out the new year right by making excellent suggestions of queso loaded with a side of guacamole and fajitas for two in addition to cocktails. I highly recommend Brandon as a server for your Mexican nieces in this favorite restaurant of fine at the George W. Bush International Airport, please ask for Brandon Johnson. Otherwise you may be disappointed. Happy new year.
Outstanding Experience! The staff here was absolutely amazing. Shalimer, Jessie, Carlos, Rahman, Brandon, and Tiffany were all phenomenal. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and immediately seated at the bar. I ordered a spicy margarita, and it ended up being one of the best margaritas I’ve had in a long time. The service was exceptional — I never waited more than five minutes for a drink, and my food arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. This team truly goes above and beyond. Highly recommend!
I went there because I needed to charge my phone and I couldn't find a available seat in the lounge to charge it. Ended up having a delicious spicy drink, dessert for my plane ride and delicious shrimp Fajitas that I'm enjoying for lunch right now. Service was absolutely great too. Advised my server that my plane is boarding in 20 mins and she had everything packed and ready to go on time.
First off you're at the airport so prices are going to be a little higher . 2nd of all there is always going to be people who don't enjoy great food , are in a rush or just going to complain . If you're in houston traveling thru you definitely want to try this place. I stopped for breakfast , the coffee was strong great robust flavor . I ask for half and half for coffee and it wasn't in a packet it was in a small creamer cup. For breakfast my order was cooked to perfection came out hot and fresh . Was nice portion for the price and restaurant staff was key . Noticed my coffee was half full and filled it back up. Go give it a try
Definitely a good place for Tex-Mex food at Houston international airport. I came here for lunch and they were not all that busy so I was seated right away. I ordered the classic enchiladas and they were great food. It was a good amount of food and the enchiladas were flavorful. So if you're in terminal C and you're looking for good Tex-Mex, this is the place to go.
Came in hot and hangery after significant flight delays and an overcrowded AMEX Centurion lounge. Felisha introduced herself, sat me and provided excellent service. The Tex-Mex bacon grilled chicken sandwich and a Cabernet Sauvignon were a nice pair to cure the frustration of large airport travel. $50.00. Pretty steep even by airport standards Fair was decent nothing to brag about but Felisha was accommodating and provided attentive service. Music and TV’s were a bit on the MAX volume side creating a cacophony of anxiety. Turn the TVs/music down, stop with the intrusive in your face surveys (requests for phone numbers/emails) and just be a restaurant. Food was decent and service was a nice relief from the airport hustle bustle.
I got the carnitas tacos and they were just ok. My server was Brandon Johnson, very nice and hospitable. Good atmosphere, just wish the food was better
The menu was misleading in the classics Mexican food section as it says served with rice and beans but that's not really the case for every item. The chicken burrito was decent but the rice and beans were "served" inside I suppose. They said the menu needed to be revised. I can't speak for the American food, but the Mexican food left a lot to be desired. The enchiladas were essentially 3 taquitos for $30. Everything was overpriced but that's to be expected with airport food.
This place is a disgrace to Texas. Food came out cold, waitress appeared irritated by our request to reheat the room temp beans that were as thin as soup. Of, course she had already secured her 18% tip up front. My husband had essentially finished his food by the time mine arrived no one noticed or cared. Mine arrived minimally warm even in the middle of the burrito. Lime wedge looked like it had been cut a month ago. Not a good representation of Tex mex at our airport. Oh and prices were outrageous.
Rough experience. Service and food was not good. If not a captive airport audience it would be out of business in a few months. Don't order the fish tacos (captain highliners in a stale tortilla)
What a experience. We won't stop here again. I recognize the standard over priced food and drink in airports however, this store charges an auto 18% and charges every time you order something. There are much clearer options and we will not stop here again, even if they're the only eatery open.
Expensive, food wasn't good, service was lacking. Stopped here for a quick bite. Prices are ridiculous but I guess thats expected at the airport. Decent sized menu. Food was terrible. $30 for a dry steak quesadilla and hard Spanish rice. Not worth the time. Find something else. Can't believe there's bad tex mex in Texas 🤦🏼♀️
0/5 Stars – Avoid at All Costs - Disgusting food, dead bugs, and horrible service. Our experience at Tex-Méx El Primo was a sad way to end an amazing vacation. If you are hungry at the Houston airport, keep walking. My friend ordered a Caesar salad that came with a dead fly on some wilted nasty brown lettuce. When we pointed it out, there was no apology. The server didn't care, and to make matters worse, we watched the cook come out of the kitchen repeatedly wiping his hands all over his dirty clothes. The staff had poor attitudes. The first server didn’t even tell us her shift ended, just disappeared. Everyone was frustrated, yet the servers remained rude and unapologetic about the extreme delays. They had no sense of urgency to get to customers to help and apologize for delays. If we had a moment to observe the atmosphere before we ordered, we would have left before ordering. When we asked for a refund for the "bug salad," the server didn't even say sorry—he just told us to "go to the app" and figure it out how to request a refund ourselves. And by far the worst $25 burger I’ve ever had which I only ordered because they told us they were out of chicken! The burger was pitiful and basically thrown onto the table. It had no condiments, no sauce, and was nearly inedible. Bottom line: This place is extremely overpriced, filthy, and the staff couldn't care less about the customers. Save your money and your stomach. This place needs new management!
Awful experience. Food was bland, super expensive and small portions. You have to order, pay and tip before even meeting a person. Which also meant we didn't know they were out of red sauce until the server brought the food out and told us. Save your money and your taste buds and lotterally go anywhere else. Wish I had read the reviews before we chose to sit down there. Why would the airport continue to have a lease with a place with such poor quality?
Seriously overpriced, even for airport food. $18 for a half a plate of broken chips and a small dish of guacamole. $25 for 2 tacos and a few bites of rice and beans. Tacos were bland. Service was a bit slow which is problematic in an airport. At least it was entertaining to watch them load cargo onto the planes right outside the window while we waited.
service was poor, you pay first and our waitress only checked on us twice. food was poor as well, definitely not worth it for how much you spend. the food was very plain and lacked protein options, also came out cold and didn’t bring everything out at the same time. would not go back and don’t recommend. try and find another spot if you’re looking to eat at the airport.
Worst service ever. Food came and we didn’t have silverware. They were in the dish washer. Had to go and get my own. Drinks took forever and had to remind them. They just take your order and your tip and move on to get the next clients. Food it’s okay and very expensive. Ultimately you have to pick the less evil because all restaurants have bad reviews.
So bad. Horrible food- we had chicken quesadillas, nachos, something trying to masquerade as tinga. The rice and beans… oh golly. Tortillas came in an aluminum foil wrap- in about 200 pieces. Try and make a fajita taco from that! You can only order from a QR code, but don’t forget the included 20% tip….. spent my entire flight with the worst heartburn I’ve ever had. For all of this, I paid $200. I also got to spend an extra 20 at my arrival for some me Pepcid. A+!!
I’d give this place 0 stars if I could because we just never got our food which is a first for me. We ordered two takeout breakfast burritos and waited 35 minutes and saw 4 parties (4!!) who came after us get their food before us. At the 35 minute mark they said they were still working on one of the burritos, and our flight was halfway through boarding so we had to leave. Never experienced such incompetent service before. The only positive was that the hostess was very nice.
The service here is by far the worst I have ever seen. Do not be fooled, no matter the atmosphere, the staff here do not want you eating here. I'd advise you just by a bag of chips and move on, as this restaurant is not worth keeping in service. Management, you should address how your staff treat customers - rude ia an understatement.
Absolutely ridiculous, no greeter no cleanliness, food was prepared in front of us behind the counter, look delicious, and cook said yeah it was done they have it back there should have brought it never got it, when asked got a rude answer saying someone will bring it. Was not busy, totally unclean, and then the portion of my meal was great but my partners hers was absolutely a joke. When approaching the counter for a glass of water just so I could have something to drink with my sandwich I got a rude reply. Not worth it.
Came here during a lay over and wow! One of the worst experiences had! Sat down and got walked by many times, no greeting. Usually the QR code is an optional ordering method. Apparently not here, we used it to order. Then it took another 20 minutes to even get a drink. The food was awful and missing ingredients and even when the stuff was brought out it was just slapped in front of us and no words said at all!!! No greeting, kindness or service. Just a robot but you still are asked for a tip. If you have to eat here tip 0%! There is no service at all or follow up or check ins at all. We quickly finished and took off rather than having another drink. This place is awful and we heard others having issues too, this was not just us or our experience! Highly not recommended!
