We recently had a wonderful dinner as a family, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The highlight of our visit was the outstanding service we received from Rosa. Her friendly demeanor and thoughtful recommendations really stood out, making our meal even more enjoyable. It's rare to find someone who makes you feel so welcome and valued as a guest. We’ll definitely be returning, and we’re hoping to see Rosa again when we do!

They really do offer a tasty menu that won't break your budget. A lot of fried food but they really do it well. I have many favorites: chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak fingers, chicken fried steak, I could go on! Major, our waiter, was polite and attentive throughout.

After being greeted by the General Manager, Christie Strickland who seated us (the wife and I) our waitress Rosa came intruding herself to us asking to please let her know when we were ready to order. I ordered the "Big Ol Cobb Salad" while my bride went for the special of the day "Meatloaf!" The meal was off the hook wonderful and the atmosphere is always like home and the Waco Cotton Patch was really Clean allowing us to enjoy our meal and the soft playing music! Our waitress "Rosa" kept check on us regularly and again, made us feel right at home so we shall be back. Thanks for serving up some of the best "Home-style food" and doing what you do because it sure is good!

Yesterday was my first time trying this spot. Firstly, the place was clean and very spacious. Lots of tables and seating. Secondly, our waitress was very pleasant. She was friendly and made sure to tell us about all the specials for the day. And I was amazed at how many specials they had! Lots of $5 deals! Lastly, the food was delicious. As often as I come here, I never knew that rating the restaurant had incentives behind the scenes! I go here at least twice a week and never an issue. They're generally not to busy later in the evening 7-9 and that's my favorite time to go. It's calm, waiters and waitresses are always on top of it. Lacy was my waitress the night of this review and was phenomenal. Got my drink out quickly, took my food order and brought it out, all within reasonable times. Highly recommend!

Ordered Togo from Cotton Patch in Waco and went full comfort-food mode. I ordered the chicken and dumplings with green beans, rice, rolls, and okra, classic Southern staples done right. The green beans were the star of the plate, packed with flavor and clearly seasoned with intention, not as an afterthought. Absolutely delicious. The okra was crispy and comforting, the rolls were warm and hit the spot, and the rice was simple and solid. The chicken and dumplings were good and hearty, but I did wish they had a bit more flavor on their own. A little salt brought them right where I wanted them, and once adjusted, they were still very enjoyable. Overall, it was a comforting, satisfying meal with generous portions and that down-home feel Cotton Patch is known for. I’d definitely come back—especially for those green beans.

This was my second time visit to Cotton Patch after not having a good experience several months ago. Fortunately, Christie is the new general manager and she has done an OUTSTANDING job turning this place around! From the time I was greeted by the hostess to the time I left the establishment, I had such an AMAZING experience that I had to take the time to write about it. Rosa, my server, was genuinely nice and very efficient. I never had to ask for anything. She took great care of me along with all of the guests seated in her section. GREAT JOB, ROSA!!! Lastly, the food was excellent! The ribeye steak was moist and seasoned to perfection. And the peach cobbler was . . . unbelievably tasty! To that end, I highly recommend Cotton Patch. I'm a big fan and I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Well first off this was my first time going to this location in Waco Texas. The food was savory, the texture was crunchy,I ordered a chicken fried chicken and for my sides I ordered the baked squash and it was yummy 😋. The only thing that disappointed me was I wanted a house margarita, in this location it does not have alcohol 😭. But I know everybody does not drink, but that day I wanted a drink. They do serve beer and wine.

Synopsis: GREAT Food!!! Decent service, enviroment could use some tuning. The Enviroment: This place is, or would have been, quite the cozy cafe! I love the rustic decor though some of it might be a bit too rustic if you look at some of the metals and fixtures. The musty barriers for Covid, though understandable, add a drab, dreary element to this cute cafe. The cleaning agent they use on these beautiful wooden tables leaves them a bit sticky. The Service: I was greeted with a smile and lead to my table. And though friendly I do wish my waiter(ess) would have smiled more. When the staff is frowning it sets a mood. But I believe this to be related to the staffing issues. Dinner service was busy, a full house, but I only counted three waiters. I even saw a waiter(ess) take drinks from a customer, then put the dishes with another table that needed bussing (and had for a while) and walked off. I am not sure if this is a normal practice but the short staffing issues here are apparent. Even as the night died down things were missed. My plates never cleared, my water, though told it would be, was never replenished, and my dessert took 25 minutes to bring out and they forgot the sauce. However I am grateful for their service. The Food: From the rolls, to the meatloaf, to the Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce. This place serves wonderfully tasting food! I sampled quite a bit today and loved everything. But get it fresh and hot right at the cafe! Now the real reason for this review. The buttercake. I have never heard or imagined of such a thing! It is a thin, golden, and crispy cake, adorned with a delicious, perfect cheesecake, and topped with a light caramel sauce and whipped cream. I instantly fell in love with it. Best dessert I have ever had. Well done!

Big salute to the Cotton Patch Cafe for offering a free entree to veterans on Veterans Day. My wife and I both got the chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes. She got country gravy and I got their delicious jalapeño gravy slathered all over my chicken. Oh my, this was some good comfort food on a cool November night. We enjoyed our meals and shared a square of chocolate Dr Pepper cake topped with ice cream. The cake would have better warm but all in all, a top rate meal.

Had the White Fish with Shrimp, not a fan of Corn meal but the food was good! My son in law had the Meatloaf he said the his meal was very good. Our waitress was great, we had 3 little ones and she did a great job making sure the drinks were refilled, she was very friendly and did a great job!

Since moving to Waco, it has become our favorite place. Rosa is one of the best waitresses here. Very attentive and professional.

The fried nushrooms were hot and delicious. Fried catfish/shrimp combo with green beans was very good. Cajun combo was also good. They won't let you go home hungry! Our waitress was very nice too.We will definitely go back!

I hadn't been to Cotton Patch in a while, but we decided to try it again and we were impressed. The food was flavorful and portioned generously. Most of my party got chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken and we were all happy with our meal and sides. The (free) dinner rolls were amazing - fluffy and warm. All around, we had a much better experience than we expected and recommend CP for large or small groups who enjoy a family-style atmosphere with good food and good service.

This was the first time in our last 5 visits that we were actually able to get the Skillet Cornbread. I guess the truck is coming at lunch instead of dinner, it's always gone by 4pm it seems. We will be back but we will aim for lunchtime so we can get that amazing cornbread. Update on 5/18/20: What a waste of time this turned out to be. We ordered two salads and another entree to go. Both salads were made incorrectly, one missing the protein entirely. When we said something, the server took the food back into the restaurant for whatever reason instead of just bringing a small container with the chicken back out. This place is not prepared for curbside take out. We have enjoyed eating inside in the past but cold food and soggy lettuce dictates that we won't be back. Good luck if you choose to eat there.

Saturday night 11/22/25 dinner. Had a new server (Catherine)who really needs extra training (this is on the mgr). My peach tea first glass had hardly any flavoring (2nd glass was spot on). My potato soup had a funky aftertaste. We ordered CF steak dinners, both full orders. My wife’s arrived, it was small though server swore it was a full size. My wife was almost done with her meal by the time my plate arrived. My order hadn’t been turned in! As terrible as this evening service was, I did tip the server $20 with advice on being able to multi-task while focusing on each meal per customer. 1 at a time. Only received blank stare feedback. I frequently coordinate caterings ranging from 10 to 700 guests, and the lack of communication is concerning. I would greatly appreciate a timely follow-up regarding this matter.

Absolutely worst experience i have ever had here. I hope my server was new because she was absolutely horrible. It would had been nice if she had told me the food had changed. The mashed potatoes were not garlic like they used to be. Gravy was not jalapeño like it used to be. Corn was cold and bland. Server was nowhere to be found until I was so pissed off that I just got out of there without having my food fixed. I gave a great tip because I imagine she won't be getting any more this week. Completely awful.

I called in a order after getting off work (12 hr shift). The woman taking my order was polite and efficient. When I arrived, I was greeted quickly and my order was already bagged abd ready. That's where the good part of my experience ended. I had no utensils included in my bag, my broccoli and rice casserole was under portioned and cold, and my black-eye- peas were undercooked (borderline crunchy) and not warm either. Im assuming they didn't have much dressing to serve cause the portion was small as well.

I’m not sure how this place stays open. Possibly the worst restaurant in Waco. Service is always bad. The food used to be decent but not so much anymore. Took my mother for her birthday because that’s where she picked. Two things we attempted to order from the menu were out. Beer was hot. As stated before service was not good and there only 3 other tables occupied. This is not the only time this has happened.

Order takeout several times a month from Cotton Patch-tonight was horrible-meatloaf and baked potato meal was inedible. The meatloaf was not sliced in the to go container and was just burger pieces tossed together-I would venture to say it looked like leftover burger patties with ketchup strewn across the top of the chunks of meat. The baked potato was hard and cold. The potato would not even squeeze or break up for topping application. I threw the entire meal away and would not have even offered it to my dogs. My husband ordered a burger that he stated was "mid" and fries which were hard and cold. Sad to spend hard earned money to not have a decent meal experience.
