I’ll start by saying that I’m not Peruvian, I’m Mexican AND this place is sooo good. I really like the lomo saltado. The chicken is also really tasty. I forgot to take a picture of the lomo before I started eating it. Great food, great service.
Love his hidden gem! Been coming here for about a decade, it’s been a while since I’ve been back, glad to see they made it through the pandemic. They get quite busy during weekday lunch rush and even on the weekends. It’s a very small restaurant so, order in advance or expect a wait and hopefully you get a table but the food have always been consistent thats why we love coming here. The only difference I noticed was the lack of salsas, we use to be able to bring the bottle to the table but now I believe they limit to 2 salsa’s per order. Our Favorite things to order Lomo Chaufa Rotisserie Chicken
This is a wonderful place for Peruvian food. Their rotisserie chicken is delicious; even moreso when you add their yummy green spicy sauce! The rice is seasoned well and pairs nicely with their meats. Their Lomo Saltado is on point. But my absolute favorite there is the Tallarin Verde. It's normally served with chicken, but I love mine with the steak!!
Good, legit Peruvian food. Would definitely come back. Update, I ordered this chicken for my babyshower and not one piece was left over. So I came in today to have some. Let me tell you, first of all I dont know what sorcery this is, the chicken is full of flavor, all of it. Not just the outside. The mashed potatoes are REAL potatoes. Amd the beans taste good and NOT like pollo loco or your mom's, its good but different good. I also want to mention that even though they got a fire going and the chickens roasting in the restaurant. It is fresh in there. Not hot at all. All the plates look good and i'll be going back soon for that Lomo Saltiado. 👍🏽👏🏽
Delicious food, large portions, friendly staff. Eating in is possible but can be kind of tight, with the large portions and tight inside, I'll probably get takeout next time but the food was very good and the sauces are all amazing (though the red one is very hot!)
Update on 2/24/21 Always good to great, but never disappoints. Ordered the 1/2 chicken plate with 1/2 beans 1/2 rice and side salad. The food is always pretty good, but chicken a slightly on the dry side this time but not a major issue. The green sauce which is usually the highlight of the meal was a little off though. Grainier than I remember and not as spicy. Rice and beans were as good as ever and service spot on. ————- Great little Peruvian restaurant in West Covina. Everything here is amazing but the chicken, rice and green salsas are the stand outs for sure. On this trip we tried the Tallarin Verde with pollo and Lomo Salgado com bistec. Both were amazing and they gave us extra liquid gold, aka green salsa, to go which was awesome. Of course they are take out only these days, but do take orders I eat the phone so it made the trip easy and quick without having to stand around waiting for our food in the tiny shop.
This place was amazing! The food quality and serving is worth what you’re paying for. The food came in sizzling hot which I love, usually restaurants let the food sit for a while until they bring it to the table. Definitely recommend!
The food and service was excellent. Friendly staff in person and on the telephone upon placing the advanced order. Since it was my first time visiting Mr. Pollo, I decided to order their most traditional/standard dishes: Lomo Saltado, Pollo Saltado, and a whole roast chicken - Pollo a la Brasa. All three dishes were amazing! Both Saltados have the meats perfectly seared over crispy french fries and steamy white rice. The Pollo a la Brasa was well marinated both inside and outside the chicken with a mesquite, smoky flavour produced by the firewood used during the roasting process. This fragrance is immediately noticeable upon entering the restaurant.
Same as always so good small place but big in service ..food quality is amazing support our local restaurants
We love this place! The family meal is our go to and the tres leches is delicious! The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very clean!
Very satisfying foods selection. We tried a few and of the dishes is loma saltado tasty and a must order when you get here. There is limited seating area here so if you go during busy time you won't find a seat. To go ordering is available but then your fries will be soggy. And lastly the sauce . The green sauce is a must must have!!!!!
Came in for brunch on Saturday with my son. Shout out to this young guy- Luis who was very welcoming and made us feel comfortable as soon as we arrived. Ordered the split pea soup 😋 so good! Warm, flavorful, and really hit the spot. Great service and a pleasant visit overall.
Food is great, the service is always fantastic, and the vibe is just always quality. I saw this one lady throw a tantrum at Tanisha at the register and her as the hostess was doing the mostest and just keeping it cool and casual. Off the clock I don't know if she'd be that chill but I respected it so much for real. Even I wanted the smoke, it was so ridiculous. But the management must be good there because it's a pretty great team and I've literally never had any complaints and I'm there all the time.
Interior looks great, the center kitchen design and the tables surrounding it has a nice retro feel. Service was quick and respectful. Food was good too, I just wish portions were slightly larger. But the daily deals compensate for things like that. Nice service from our server Patricia!
Haley Is Very Nice! The Other Server Carol Didn't Want To Change Out My Order So I Moved Tables And Haley Was So Kind Enough To Customize My Order. Thank You Haley For Being So Helpful. She Deserves A Very Good Tip.
Best norms I’ve ever been to! All the staff were so friendly and seemed content with their jobs/workload which is such a neglected thing in the service industry these days. Adorable pumpkin contest going on right now. Thanks for letting me hang out and study (:
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Norms, thanks to our incredible server Tanisha! From the moment we sat down, she was welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Tanisha made great menu recommendations, checked in at just the right times, and ensured everything was perfect without ever being overbearing. It’s rare to find someone who’s both efficient and personable, but Tanisha our server nailed it. Her positive attitude truly enhanced the whole dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back—great food and even better service! Thank you Tanisha
Me and my family had a great time at NORMS. Our server Patty was amazing and she made sure we had our food out on time and filled up our waters and coffee every time. Good atmosphere
Me an my family Love Norms an now I love it even more ! , my aunt lives in West Covina so that's why we went to this location. The service was the BEST service I've ever had no exaggerating!. Damian is the best server I've ever had at any restaurant. He was helpful but not pushy ,so polite,an even assisted me an his co worker when he was already done for the day 😇🙏🏽, really appreciated his hospitality .
Plenty of parking. Restaurant was clean. Our server was excellent. Kept checking on us, refilling our drinks and asking if we needed anything. When the server imformed us she was going on break. Then the manager checked on us. Everyone was friendly and pleasant. Great experience here. Will stop by again when we are in the area.
Have not been to a Norms for a long long time. We found one off the 210 freeway at Ayala. Definitely still great food and the atmosphere is like stepping back in time. The service was great. She couldn't have been any better! I had chicken fried steak and oh lord was it good.. and plenty of it... Everything was great and we'll be going back soon. It's a drive but we go that way pretty regular... It's across the street from Cracker Barrel. 2 thumbs up!
So I'm a big norms fan and I took a plunge for the team to try their enchilada omelet and carnitas fries. THEY ARE AN ABSOLUTE RESOUNDING okay. If I gave it a grade it would be a C+ maybe. BUT their pancakes are fantastic. I'd even say better than IHOP and I will probably be willing to throw down for them.
Good place to grab some fast Peruvian food. The rotisserie chicken is good and flavorful. Fries are good. The place is nice and neat. It can get packed, and sitting is first come. Parking as well can sometime become a hassle. It gets packed during lunch time as well. But the food is good, the ambiance as well. Great customer service, very helpful staff. Stop by and try some good Peruvian food.
Chickens on spits roasting in a fire pit. Smells heavenly. Whole chicken meal with two large sides amounted to about $30+ with tax. The chicken was juicy and quite flavorful, I didn’t even need the sauces. You can choose from three: spicy green sauce, ‘Asian flavored sauce,” and Chimichuri. For the whole chicken meal you get 6 little containers, thus I chose two of each. For the two large sides, I got beans and french fries. Beans were good, fries were lightly salted, just how I like them. The fries came out piping hot but soggy. I prefer them crispy. I enjoyed the spicy sauce the most on my fries. The best part of the meal was the dessert which I scarfed down while waiting for my order. The alfajor was a lightly sweetened, crumbly cookie filled with ooey-gooey dulce de leche. I want to come back to taste the lomo saltado.
I discovered this place last week and I have already been there twice. The chicken is seasoned perfectly and the sides are tasty as well. The lomo saltado is also really good. It is huge portion, the plate is 13.99 but can easily feed two. They also sell homemade Carmel sandwich cookies. For 10 dollars we received 10 cookies, a little pricy for the size but they were really tasty as well and go well with coffee. The only downside is the size inside, there are only a few tables and are crowded together. I can see it being uncomfortable during a lunch or dinner rush. I also wish they were open later they close at 9 pm most nights.
Food is amazing must try if your not from Just definitely need to update their prices on line I ended up paying 10.00 more then I wanted to from a 60.00 order it would had been nice if they honor the price online which was why I came in
We ordered two lomo saltados ($17.49 each) for pick-up. We called in our order and it was ready in 15 minutes. The parking lot isn't too big but there was several open spaces to park in front of Mr. Pollo. Each order comes with two sauce cups, so we got 2 green sauces and 2 red sauces. The rice was garlic infused, so that in itself was already delicious. Meat in the lomo saltado was tender. We weren't sure until we went to pick up our order and saw that they use actual plates and not disposable items for those dining in. Our next trip will be to dine indoors.
If you’re looking for authentic Peruvian flavors without the fuss, Mr. Pollo in West Covina is a hidden gem. Their rotisserie chicken is incredibly flavorful—juicy on the inside with perfectly seasoned skin. The ambiance is laid-back and comfortable, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or a family dinner. It’s a solid, no-frills local favorite that consistently delivers great food.
Isaura was our server & she was welcoming with a smile, friendly and very kind. I brought my autistic brother with me & she was so kind & understanding when he ordered. She is an asset to your servers & an example to your staff. Kudos to Isaura!
The Thanksgiving turkey was just a few slices from one of those chopped and formed water-added things that you find behind the deli counter in a supermarket. Not really very appetizing. The stuffing and mashed potatoes were good, but the real star of the show was the Cream of Turkey Soup -- and I'm not generally much of a soup person. I'm grateful to the employees who work there on Thanksgiving to provide us with meals.
Norms is a hidden treasure of value. Where else can you find a restaurant that sells a decent t-bone steak dinner with shrimp and baked potato with a side of veggies for under 24 bucks? NOWHERE. The only reason I can't give them a 5 star is the side veggies are usually baby carrots, which i hate. Everything else is on point, though. The wait staff is top-notch and sincerely friendly. I hear there are really long waits in the week ends.
They bring the food as they wish and not as you order it. They ask you to pay your bill before you are ready to leave just because it's time for the waitress to leave. Waitress had attitude when she asked to pay our bill. Her tip was reduced by 50%.
Today I order chaufa de pollo, bad choice, very bad taste, dry/old pieces of chicken. I won't recommend to come to this place, taste used to be better, but not anymore looks like is not the same chef... sorry but just my personal opinion/experience...
Had the green spaghetti with rotisserie chicken. Breast of chicken was dry and the pasta was salty and flavorless. Prices are ridiculous for the food. Will definitely not be coming back
I wanted to place an order to pick up I would arrive 3 minutes late and they didn't want to receive the order, very bad attention from the staff
Nasty kitchen, not a great manager just there not friendly or anything just a dry lady.,food wasn’t flavored at all, hash brown over cooked pancakes burnt, omelette very little and nasty, dry , my pancakes had a bite missing. The manager wanted me to bring food they messed up back it was only pancakes and eggs she asked me to come back and bring it so ridiculous. After I had been waiting in food for a hour this was unacceptable and unbelievable then she was horrible manager. She should have gave me a refund. Nasty place sinking in kitchen new manager and more servers needed. The funny thing is the one guy that possible has some needs moves faster, care about his customers, he takes time, he ask questions he better than any staff member in there and the manager old man he good to. The rest of the staff are lazy with attitude including the girls.
Worst experience I've ever had at norms. Our waiter was terrible he took our order and left us without any water or anything till we asked him, taking him a whopping 30 minutes to bring us any refreshments he also brought us my order of well done t bone steak rare it was so disgusting since I'm not a fan of near raw Stake but what ever they also got my mom's order of omelet wrong this place is a complete disaster I don't recommend it we would have liked a apology from the manager for this mistake but nothing it's very disappointing I DO NOT RECOMMEND
