This location has a friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious! The chicken tortilla soup was meaty and tasty. Our server, Natalia, was friendly, took wonderful care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. She made me want to come back. Overall the evening was fantastic! I can't wait to go back!

I love this Las Palapas, and now that the one near the airport is gone, this location is the only one I visit. I prefer their brown salsa, it’s full of flavor and available upon request. Whether it’s been breakfast tacos on the run, or a sit down lunch or dinner, the food has always been delicious and the value for the money is awesome.

This was some of the best Mexican food we had in San Antonio. The chicken soup and al carbón sopa were delicious and reasonably priced. We also had the tacos Al carbón with steak. The steak was marinated and tasted high quality. I highly recommend Las palapas if you are in the area.

Recently, after attending a funeral at Ft Sam Houston a group of approximately 25-30 people were planning on grabbing lunch together. Plans were made ahead to eat at another establishment that dropped the ball and at the last minute could not accommodate us. Without any prior warning we descended upon Las Palapas. Sheila, the manager did not even hesitate. In a matter of minutes, a private room was set up. Our server, Jessica was cheerful and efficient. The food was great, as usual. Today, y’all knocked it out of the park. You pulled off a miracle and we all were truly grateful. Way to go, Las Palapas!

We did takeout for dinner from here. We had the Macho Burrito with steak and Mexican Rice, Refried Beans, lettuce and melted Cheese on the top with a Mexican styled gravy on the side. Hubby got the Beef Enchilada plate with Mexican Rice and Refried Beans. Ample food portions which are enough for two people to share. Food is delicious and well seasoned. Will certainly return again and would definitely recommend you try their location. Great customer service and quick trip through the drive-thru.

Great service! The tortilla soup here is the best! I had a large bowl, comes with 2 slices of avocado as well as melted white cheese on top. Has chunks of chicken, some shredded, no bones at all. The corn tortillas are homemade. Delicious!

Get the family order of enchiladas and fajitas for the staff and they love it. Everything is packaged nicely and they have it ready when you call it in advance. Very nice staff will keep coming here.

There are too many Tex-mex restaurants around San Antonio to even try to declare a "favorite". Service was great, atmosphere was ok, but I really liked that steamed chopped vegetables were offered as an alternative to the standard refried beans and spanish rice with my puffy tacos.

So I decided to order my favorite dish, mole enchiladas after I heard Las Palapas had it. I can honestly say that I wasn’t disappointed. I enjoyed it very much. Even in a to go container as I got it from the drive through. Sometimes the portions are different with to go ordering compared to in restaurant sit down format. Needless to say I will visit again and definitely it order it again. The four stars to me is great. Five stars is for top tier elite type food five course meal and what not. In short I for sure recommend it. Three stars for the atmosphere is because I got it to go.

The location is very accessible. I went during a weekday at lunch time (drive thru) and there was no wait. They gave me a combination of beef and chicken on my salad, although I only asked for chicken, which is why I gave them 4 stars. They did let me know before I drove off and offered to remake the salad. Due to timing, I was unable to accept. Salad was good, but it is worth noting that it isn’t a traditional salad - not the healthiest option. Salad is accompanied by salsa verde.

The cheese enchiladas were good with my favorite kind of gravy. And I liked the Palapas plate with the serving of fajita meat to make a taco.

I picked up the food via the drive thru, so I can't really rate the atmosphere. The person at the window was friendly and efficient. The tacos were filled and tasted good. They took a little while longer than expected, but not really a big deal. Overall satisfied.

After being promoted by a customer of mine, i finally made it into this location on Walzem. The manager quickly greeted me and told me i would be attended to in a moment. She then proceeded to have a conversation with her servers in Spanish. Then i was sat quickly at a table that is in some need of repair. Rory quickly grabbed my drink order and walked away. This was the quickest part of my experience. None minutes later i received my drink, chips, and salsa. He went ahead an took my order where i had to upsell myself and he went away. As i look around and eat my stale chips and salsa, the other servers respond well with their customers. I got Rory who seems to be having a bad day. Still waiting on the chicken tortilla soup i ordered my street tacos. Food comes all together at the same time. Charro beans had the most flavor and needed no seasoning. The Chicken tortilla soup tasted like campbells chicken noodle soup with tortilla strips on it. The street tacos werent bad. Lacked the flavor and spices that im used to from Mexican Cuisine. The Queso Fresco was a nice touch. I did ask fpr some salsa verde to flavor the tacos up. It had an odd taste to it. The portions were decent sized though. Ill give them that. Rory was also quick to see if i needed a refill. Now im waiting for the bill to close out. Its been 20 minutes since ive pushed my plates and put my credit card out. It wasnt busy. Not at all what was described to me. I may eat here again. I wont go out of my way for it though. Recommend? There are other places nearby i would recommend over this place.

I cannot say better things about this place! Accidentally discovered it a few weeks back and didn't think I'd have many options to eat being a vegan. I was 100% wrong!! They have accidentally vegan items and numerous more that can be adjusted to be vegan!! We've been back a couple times and it's been great. The service especially is great here! I just found out that Las Palapas is run by the same family as Ruthie's Mexican Restaurant, literally our favorite Mexican place in SA and well that makes sense! That's why Las Palapas is so awesome! I had the stuffed avocado and the vegetable enchiladas with Verde sauce. Chips and salsa too! All vegan! Just remember to ask them to leave out the cheese and to leave off the crema sauce! 🙂 EDIT: July 2023: I visited another Las Palapas location and was politely advised by our waiter that I needed to swap the rice and beans that comes with the Vegetable Enchilada plate with sauteed vegetables because the rice and beans both have meat in them and are not vegan!! I am mortified no one ever mentioned this to me at this location but I digress. Please add vegan protein options like tofu/tempeh/seitan and some dairy free cheeses, sauces and milks for the coffee.

The rice and beans were very bland. Didn't seem fresh at all. The puffy taco ground beef seemed old. The burrito sauce was not spicy at all, more beans and rice than meat. We ordered, and the food came out in 5 minutes. The plates were very hot. Makes me think they threw the food in the microwave. Overall, not fresh. Would not come back again. They do offer military discount but even then I wouldn't return.

Everything was great until this lady (waitress) took forever to come to our table, got our drinks order brought our drinks, then takes forever to to come back until I had to call her to our table, she had a bad attitude, just so rude taking our orders, mind you as I was giving her back the menus she made a face expression like I was taking forever. Thanks to the boss boy which I didn’t get his name was super nice and I told him if he can tell his manager we are requesting another waitress, which they did, her name was Lupita! Super nice and fast. After that everything was great.

I’ve really tried to like this place, I’ve gone twice and both times I’ve found an object in my food. The food was really good both times until I came across a stick in my cheese enchiladas on my first visit. Never said anything or complained. Then this second drive thru visit I find a piece of plastic in my nachos. I’m done. How is it that on 2 completely separate visits something has contaminated my food ? I normally do not give a 1 star for service, but when you sit and wait for a server to acknowledge you after 15mn is insane. People that got here 5mn after me and were serviced before. Me patiently thinking I would be serviced next. NOPE!! Next customer comes in and sits to the left of and server goes and asks for their drinks. I literally had to raise my voice to yye server(something else I don't do) in order to feel like I am acknowledge. Like seriously... at yhe least the server could have said I'll be right with you.

Went to get an order yesterday the drive thru menu signage clearly states lunch specials from 11 am-4 pm, when i tried to order I was denied the service being told it is only until 2 pm, i questioned why the menu stated different and got to response. Add to this I ordered 2 crispy beef tacos with a half order of bean and cheese nachos with jalapeño and I received chicken tacos, no jalapeños, and the food was cold. I called the store who didn’t seem to care, I live all the way in Cibolo so just driving back is not an option.

I love las palapas but the food at this location is super gross. There was a hair in my nachos, the meat had gone bad the pico was sour and expired as well. They charge you for everything that the other las palapas already include in the meal. The water is from the tap! Please go to any other las palapas but this location!

Definitely not open 24 hrs. Went by around midnight the last couple of nights, and they were closed. They have their pressure washer guy parked, so you can't go through drive-through. I know they are closed on Sundays.

I come here almost every single day and I have reward points and I was accused of other people using my account. No one uses my account I just happen to go there every day, I live right down the street and I like to have a margarita everyday through the drive-thru with my snack. Their margaritas are very good. My mom and I come in and dine in about once a week, the other day we also brought my sister. It took at least 15 minutes for them to get their margaritas on the rocks and they were very watered down. I always get mine Frozen so I had mine and it was fine. My mom knows how her Margarita is supposed to taste and it was watered down so we asked for them to remake their margaritas. Well another 15 minutes goes by and they still don't have their margaritas and we are done with our appetizer and our food served. I went looking for our margaritas and they're sitting at the bar and I asked the bartender and she said the manager was bringing them out. Well we're eating our food and they finally got their margaritas, almost done with our food. The manager came out talking and talking and talking and offered them a shot they didn't want a shot they just wanted the Margarita made properly or brought out in a timely manner so it doesn't sit there and melt. Plus you want to drink your margarita with your food. My mom and sister ordered a large guacamole for appetizer to share and split it on their ticket will the waitress put $6.49 on both of their tickets. The large guacamole is only $6.49 but the guacamole she brought out was huge. It was like double a large, all we ordered was a large. In the menu it says medium or large it doesn't say huge for $13. The manager took their Margaritas off the ticket finally. I was trying to explain to him we did not want anything for free, we just expected our Margaritas to be brought out in a timely manner. And then to offer them a shot, my mother does not drink shots of alcohol. He should have taken the Margaritas away and remade them himself or stood there while the bartender did it and brought them right back to us, then he would not have had to take anything off of our ticket losing money for the store. They were not busy, there was no excuse to wait 30 minutes to finally get margaritas. And all that manager did was stand there and argue with us instead of just remaking the drinks right away. He knows we go in there a lot and we know how the Margaritas are supposed to taste. And we know when the ice has melted and they are watered down. And the bartender also telling me "well it's got ice in it that's why it's watered down" which was very mean. I'm not dumb, the drink sat there at the bar and the ice melted and watered down the drinks. Instead of them just fixing the problem all they did was sit and make us feel like we were doing something wrong. Same thing with my reward points, because I go through the drive-thru everyday I get accused if someone else using my account. If you look at what's ordered, the same thing is ordered all the time, if somebody else was using my account why are they going to order the same thing I do? It's absolutely ridiculous to frequent an establishment and spend money there and get treated like crap.

I ate a burrito and it had very little meat, it was full of rice and some vegetables. When I asked the manager to look at it and see if he could compensate me some. Just maybe a drink. He was very rude and continued to say we can't do anything since you ate all of food. I did not eat it all, though. I don't recommend going here.

Ordered tacos ahead of Time [ about 15 mins prior to arrival ]for my lunch break , drove to the restaurant and still waited an additional 15 mins to get my Order. Kept asking for an update because my lunch was almost over . The lady was getting frustrated and told me they are almost ready . I ended up having to leave, no tacos and had already paid . I was still late from my lunch break. .I got a call from the establishment over an hr after I placed my order but I didn't answer. So at this point I still haven't fixed the order so I'm out the money and tacos . Do better guys

I finally just told him nevermind and would go somewhere else since he wanted to give me a ground beef. Although an unusual request, it is served there as an upcharge and Im always ready to pay it. Maybe your employees should ask a manager before assuming it's not available. You lost out on a $30+ order. 2 beef fajita puffy Tacos $7.50×2 and beef fajita plate $14.99... Not sure I will return since this keeps happening. Just not worth the headache.

This place is nasty. I stopped because it was the closest las palapas to where I was. The restrooms stink so bad like urine and stench, the restaurant itself did as well. The food was sub par and the margaritas were terrible. They even overcharged my card with their tip. Don’t go here. They should close/hose and reopen with better everything.

I came with my my parents for dinner and I ordered 2 cheese enchiladas and they gave me 2 chicken enchiladas. I asked the waiter if he can switch them out and it took him 38 min. When I got my cheese enchiladas they had nacho cheese. Like who orders enchiladas with nacho cheese. That’s why we should have just gone to the one closer to our house the las palapas by 1604 and utsa area is way better I’ve never had any issue there.

Very busy when we got her but was seated pretty quick. We had a great waitress that was very attentive. Our food came quickly and was hot. The problem came with my drink. It was a roach in the bottom of my drink.🤢🤮 never again

Enchiladas are old and bland. Nachos are old and rubbery. Lettuce and tomatoes on everything but what I ordered them on. Sweet tea is extremely unsweet. If you order from here be sure not to do it online. They’ll just give you the oldest food off the line.

I placed an Uber Eats order for a regular sized bean and cheese nachos and I received 7 {SEVEN} tortilla chips (count 'em) with a little bit of beans and some old cheese. This was the first/LAST time I'll order from this location; Las Palapas on Callaghan is 100% better than this.

You will thank me later if you read this. After sitting for about 15 minutes, 2 separate larger parties came in and were given menus, chips and drinks. We then finally got our menus and chips. I did t get the lemon for my drink or the drink menus we asked for. Waited another 10 minutes and we had to leave so we could eat after a long hike. My wife and i decided to go to the pollos asadas directly behind this location. DAMMMNNNNIT THEY WERE BEYOND AMAZING!!! They sat us as soon as we got there, despite them being way busier than the crap restaurant we just left. We had our margaritas within 3 minutes and our food in under 10 minutes!! And it was soooo mouth watering delicious. Gratefully tipped over 40% for the amazing service and food!!! Skip this joke of a place and visit their neighbor

TERRIBLE! I ordered the "grilled" fish and shrimp. It was not grilled. And 2 of the sides were not included. When it came time to pay I told them I wanted a refund. THEY ARGUED WITH ME. NO GRILL MARKS, MISSING ITEMS, COLD, AND I DIDNT EAT IT. "We use a flat top grill" every other GRILLED meal we got had grill marks. SHOWED THEM THEIR OWN MENU SHOWING THE MISSED ITEMS. Whoever that manager was needs to check herself, telling me I ate the food....I walked back to the table(because they didn't bother bring us the check) grabbed the plate and brought it to her and ask what was eaten. After about 10min of arguing with this creature, she finally took off ticket. Next time I'll go to taco bell. Better quality, service, and they know their menu.
