As a seasoned music consumer, for me music venues stand or fall on central issue: do they allow watching live music happen or do they hinder it? Everything else can be important but icing on the cake related to this central component. On the evening of June 20th, 2025, we were privileged to see Alán Fajardo y los Viajeros with Alan Fajardo & Armando Cuevas, Oso Avalle, Simón Hernández. The music was amazing. We were very close and intimate with the band and the others in the room. We ordered a couple of dishes to go with drinks but I don't remember the food. I loved the upstairs rooftop area with additional bar but outside with tables. Staff and service were excellent and the music was phenomenal.
I come here for the amazing bands and the wonderful music they create! Their drinks are pretty spectacular (I don’t drink but my friends who do say they’re amazing) however they have amazing non alcoholic beverages as well! We don’t have food here so can’t comment on that. My only 1 issue here is the seating. If you want to see the band & you’re walking in, go early and get the table you want. But I’ve heard people say the tables at the front are reserved (however not sure about this so confirm With the managers)
This place ticks all the boxes. Safe for tourists, lovely service, inventive drinks and an octopus to die for. Diana was our very attentive server for the evening. Come on Thursdays for groovy vinyl night!
Casa Franca offers a distinctive setting in a restored mansion in La Condesa. The venue has several rooms that allow for both live music and conversation. The drink menu is varied with fair prices, the food is solid, and the overall music quality and atmosphere are consistently good.
150MXN of cover, and yes, you need a reservation if you don’t want to be standing when the show starts. Nevertheless, the place itself, its lighting, the food, the wine selection and the live jazz trio were fantastic. The show normally starts at 10pm and goes until midnight. The night I went they played progressive jazz, drums, keys and saxophone. Pro tip. Make sure Hugo takes care of you. He is a fantastic host.
Amazing, beautiful place - a must visit! The service was amazing, the food and drink were top-notch. The band was incredible. The ambiance just can't be beat! Highly recommend

We went to the Casa Franca on a recommendation from friends to visit Mexico City, more often. There is actually a restaurant on the main street with the same name, but this club is actually around th…
Excellent jazz bar with a beautiful atmosphere and great drinks and wonderful food. It fills up quickly so I suggest getting a table early.

I loved the concept and the intimate vibe of the place. That said, the space felt a bit saturated and simple at the same time. Still, the music experience is definitely worth it.
A 4.5 score. Great venue. Lovely that is sort of hidden. Upstairs is great decor and ambiance, with many rooms. However, you need to book well in advance if you want to see the band. Otherwise they put you in the bar, where you cannot see the band. Also you need to eat with alcoholic drinks. Situated just off the chic Alvaro Obregón avenue. There is no parking available. Worth a visit, even if you're not a jazz lover. And yes it is a tad expensive.
Jazz bar with great music and a rooftop for a more intimate setting. Arriving at the nondescript door, we were greeted by a rather pretentious host who wasn’t very clear on the bar’s overall concept, other than mentioning that the jazz bar had a $150 pesos cover charge to be paid at the end of the visit. We headed up to check out the main floor, which was lively and packed. The performance leaned more towards rock than jazz but still had a lively atmosphere. Finding the bar area was a bit confusing, as it wasn’t clearly indicated. While deciding whether to stay, a waitress informed us that there’s a rooftop with no cover, offering a more intimate experience. We headed up to the top floor, where we were seated and given menus. The menus were the same as downstairs, but the quieter rooftop allowed for easier conversations. We ordered cocktails, which were served promptly, but the service remained a bit impersonal throughout. The drinks were great, and the rooftop’s atmosphere was lovely, with our waitress checking in on us throughout the night. I’d recommend making a reservation if you’re interested in enjoying the jazz performance downstairs, or opt for the rooftop if you’re looking for a quieter spot to enjoy good drinks and conversation. A clearer explanation of the bar’s two different areas (one with a cover charge and one without) would have been helpful.
I really enjoy this place, you need to make a rsvp cause it always get full. We want on a Wednesday and it was amazing, check their fb to know who will be playing, that help us a lot. Food is OK, not bad but also not the best I've tried. And the waitress was also not the nicest. But I would totally go again the band was so amazing and the place itself has a nice vive and great decoration.
We ordered tapas, the food was good, I recommend the garlic octopus. The drinks are good, they have a good variety. The service is good, *keep in mind that you CANT’ JUST ORDER DRINKS, you must also order food. The ambience was nice with warm lights on the tables, but the music was so loud that you had to shout to communicate.
There are probably four or five tables in the main section where the musicians are, if you want to book these, you need to book one week in advance. Otherwise, I recommend just making a reservation though you’ll probably end up in one of the side rooms. I liked the antique vibe in the rooms and the rooms are well furnished with perfect lighting for the ambience and the bar doesn’t get too crowded. The cocktails and drinks are a on the pricey side but everyone seemed to enjoy them. There are very few options if you don’t drink alcohol though. I don’t understand jazz but I like the vibe here
This was such a mixed experience. Went twice - the first time just sat at the bar and had great cocktails. A total ‘4 star’ experience. Ambiance is great. We didn’t have reservations on the weekend and went around 830pm. We did this to check out the suitability for this venue as a family New Years Eve spot. Even though it took weeks to figure out how to make reservations from contacting various people via WhatsApp, Instagram messaging and even going in person to book with the bartender…once we actually arrived for New Years Eve at 9pm (as they advised) we had to wait outside for 30 minutes….why? They seemed so unprepared as if they’d never had an event there before. We were sat at the wrong table and asked what we ordered - huh? (we partially prepaid and pre-ordered.) The food was really bad. Most of it was cold - we sent it back, it came back still cold. The dessert was some dirt-dry chocolate inedible thing. The service took forever. We had a table full of cocktails and then food with no beverages, not even water. We had about 4 different servers trying to figure out what was going on. And the music was so perplexing. Kind of experimental jazz improv instead of some fun NYE crowd pleasers. Then some guy got on the mic at 11:50pm and talked completely missing the actual 2025 countdown. What a disaster. I could go on but overall it was a bust. One star experience… However on a regular night with normal expectations this place could be a cute option - great roof top bar and lots of potential if only they could get some half competent people to manage the place.
The Victorian home is beautiful, but not the most conducive place for a jazz night as only the "living room" people who have made table reservations (there are only 4/5 tables) have access to/view of the band. Everyone else sits in separate rooms where you can hear the band, but not see them. There is a 150 pesos/person entrance fee, which makes sense if the band is performing, but I arrived at 7:30pm and the band only starts playing at 9:30pm. Also, the tip charge is applied to the 150 pesos since it is added to your final bill. The cocktails were good, but the tapas was pretty mediocre. The potatoes cold and chewy, the bread mildly stale. It's defintiely bar food, just not ~good~ bar food. Perfect spot for couples looking for a dim first date location - the dark orange lighting and the alcohol makes everyone look incredible, and the acoustics are loud enough to drown out everyone else's conversations, yet soft enough for you to hear your partner speak. The staff are incredibly lovely, but that's more a testament to Mexico than it is to this bar in particular. I'd recommend coming after 9:30pm if you want the ideal experience of this place. Have dinner elsewhere, reserve a table in the "living room", and enjoy after dinner cocktails with your date.
Pretentious door woman acting like she’s doing everyone a favor. No one responds to their number for reservations. We were shuttled to the rooftop which was THICK with smoke, chain smokers all around. Revolting, we had to leave asap. Live music only lasts 2 hours. Bartenders were kind and polite
