Absolutely the best sushi around. Family run business that caters to return visitors. Fresh, wild caught offerings ranging from complete sushi menu, fish & chips, full dinners, and delicious drinks. Reservations recommended, large crowds well accommodated. Not open during the day, expect to stay awhile, covered outdoor environment, upstairs from The Cocktail Bar. We usually spend all our celebratory meals here when possible. Buen provecho

Fantastic place for sushi, fresh and innovatively prepared fish and seafood. The oysters on the half shell are my husband’s favorite. I love the sushi. Everything is fresh and delicious and Marco is an amazing and wonderful chef/host. Don’t miss this fabulous restaurant!

Sehr leckere japanische Speisen, toller Geschmack. Ob Sushi, Rahmen oder Shrimps, perfekt zubereitet und freundlichst serviert. Was ich dreist finde, bei Kartenzahlung schlagen sie 5% drauf, selbst auf das Trinkgeld.

My husband and I ate there last night and again, it did not disappoint. I had a fantastic california roll and a shrimp taco. My husband had the hamachi and unagi sushi, and really loved it. He also had one of the specials, pompano. He thanked the chef and told him he hasn't had pompano for 30+ years. He used to catch and eat it when he lived in Florida. He said it was cooked and seasoned just perfect. This is a great place to eat, reservations are probably a must. I can see why.

This restaurant is AMAZING!! Everything gets five stars. The service, staff, food, presentation, hospitality, cleanliness, the drinks and for all of you bargain hunters yes even the price is excellent here at Los Compadres. Come on down and check it out, bring your friends. You will not be disappointed.

This is a very very good restaurant here in Lakeside. All of their seafood is very safe and very fresh, that is their specially. I’ve eaten at this restaurant. I’ve eaten at this restaurant 10, 12, 15 times and it’s always always been consistently great. I highly recommend this restaurant for seafood in the Lakeside area.

Visitamos el lugar para cenar y conocer los platillos que habíamos visto en su página de Facebook, la verdad superó las expectativas, el sabor de los platillos es muy rico, el staff súper amable en todo momento. Lo que sí recomiendo es llegar temprano y estar al pendiente de su página para saber los platillos que tendrán en el día. Probamos el rib eye con camarones y curry que estaba buenísimo! Los nigiris a elección del chef fueron una muy buena opción también.

El sushi esta super rico las pizzas tambien son super buenas, las bebidas estan muy ricas y tienen mucha variedad, el servicio es bueno aunque algunas veces si hay mucha gente es un poco lento Yo super lo recomiendo

Los Compadres is our favorite restaurant in the area! The seafood is always super fresh and perfectly prepared, and the service is friendly and efficient. I also think their pizza is better than that of the pizzerias around here, for my tastes.

We love Los Compadres and have eaten there several times and it is always amazing. The sushi, the salmon, the corvina and ribeye are favorites of ours. The open air atmosphere is great, along with the friendly prompt service. We have traveled all over the world and lived in various countries, Los Compadres is one of the best. A definite must try if visiting or living in the lake chapala area. Keep up the great work. Gracias!

We were seated promptly. However, I do suggest having reservations before you come. This is one of those places where you sit and enjoy your cocktail and dinner for hours with you don’t even know the time has passed. Food was superb. The presentation was very, very beautiful and the variety was incredible. We ate there Friday night and we’re going back. Continued success! PS the drinks are economical and reasonable. Fabulous sushi designed with beautiful fresh colored vegetables. If you are a vegetarian you are at the right place. Thanks for joining us Scott and Paula. We love Los Compadres, and we showed up without a reservation. Everything was booked except for the upper deck. We were fine with it, but unfortunately, they sat us up there and then forgot about us. After about a half hour of waiting, I went down to find someone to serve us. Once they remembered there was a group upstairs, the service was fine. As always, the food is great here.

Looking for a sushi restaurant in Ajijic? Check this gem out. Located on the roof over an inconspicuous bar, this place has the best sushi by far. It was so good, I ordered a California Roll to go. Not like sushi in the states, but darn close. Service was excellent too.

The Monthly LGBT dinner this month was at Los Compadres Ajijic. I arrived early so that I could visit Isabella Downstairs at the cocktail bar and have a few drinks. I joined upstairs about 30 mins after most. I ordered the Calamari which was delicious. The addition of fried Basil leaves really adds so much to the dish. The chili sauce it came with was so good I emptied it all. I got 2 pieces of the unagi sushi which I love Eel and theirs was delicious. I haven't had Lambchops in about 20 yrs and ordered theirs which was a great choice. I did order mine Med well as I don't like alot of color other then Char..lol. they were very tender with a great flavor and I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!! Looking forward to the next dine out. Each plate is beautifully presented, a work of art made from really good food. We like being able to watch the sushi chef create these masterpieces while we sit out on the Mirador. Update June 2023, it seems that there is a new chef. While we still enjoyed our visit something has changed, a bit more oil on the food etc. Still recommend it though 😁

I needed grilled salmon and they did not disappoint! I loved my salmon so much, I returned the next evening for a taste of their sushi. I tried their tuna roll which I was advised was small. It was very simple, but hit the spot. I had a little queasy tummy from drinking and dancing the previous evening, but the sushi roll helped me get back on track. Sometimes I just need a little protein and rice, simple unarresting flavors to help me beat "the night befores" and this was the place!

Marco and the gang are the best! They have always taken care of me whenever I come in. Fireball anyone!! The sushi dishes are delicious. The place has been discovered by many to be the best sushi in the area. The bad thing for me is not getting a table. Good idea to make a reservation.

Fue muy desagradable la experiencia. Nos ofrecieron “los especiales” brochetas de pulpo y rack de cordero… dijeron que eran 5 brochetas y resultaron 3. El sabor estaba rico, la verdad. El “rack” de cordero resultó en 4 chuletitas pequeñas. Los precios como si estuvieras en Restaurant 5 estrellas. No volveremos ahí. We had a reloj bad experience. It was expensive, and the dishes were really lack of food. Lamb rack was conviertes into 4 small pieces of lamb. And 5 octopus brochetas were now converted in 3. It had a good flavor though but we will NEVER go back there

I paid $95 pesos for a small bowl of miso soup with mostly broth and not enough stuff in it. I also ordered the California rolls 8 small pieces bite size was just okay and 2 pieces salmon sushi $85 pesos and a lemonade natural. $355 pesos total for my lunch alone and plus $50 dollar tip kinda expensive eh?

Service a little slow, the Mahi Mahi had bones in it, so that was a turn-off for one of our guests. The tuna appy was excellent, but it was a small portion for the price, compared to other places. We will definitely give this place another try. Maybe they will have another server to help. Plus, they opened a third level for pizza. If looking for this place,it's hidden, it's at The Cocktail Bar, walk through, to the steps, at the back, up to the rooftop.

I agree with the other reviews, it reminded me of grocery store sushi. We ordered two rainbow rolls and they were not even close to what one would expect a rainbow roll to be. Yes it was different colors, but not because of the variety of fish, just different colored roe. There are superior options in the area for sushi.

La verdad este restaurante fue muy recomendado por amigos míos, y tenía algo de buenas expectativas por la comida. El platillo que me sirvieron estaba muy salado (udon al wok con vegetales salteados). El servicio de los meseros fue muy bueno. Eran muy cordiales y atentos Pero si no creo volver a ir por el sabor de la comida y porque , los baños como son unisex y pues, como entro mucho hombre, estaban algo sucios . Los costados de la tapa , estaba pues todo orinado.

Lugar nuevo , muy limpio, ostiones muy frescos , me gustaría los hubieran servido con galletas saladas y cocktail sauce , el chef preparó una salsa de coltail casera , no estaba mal , probamos un rollo de piel de salmón con salmón por dentro , estaba bien

Very good place, prices are average on the area, food not bad but it was my 2nd time ordering the pulled pork sandwich and it’s delicious NGL, but their fries are bad honestly, the first time i had it thought maybe i had a bad luck but no! Good food, very poor service the last time we visited.

I don't know what happened to this restaurant! But we will not be back, in fact we got up and walked out! When we got there there were only two other tables being occupied and both of them were eating. We waited and waited and finally the waiter came over and took the order for drinks, the two margaritas came out very quickly my strawberry daiquiri came out about 10 minutes after the margaritas, and then about 10 minutes after that my friends michelada came. My daiquiri the glass was only half filled I questioned the waiter about it and he said that's the size of our drinks "NOW" I said the glass is only half filled and he said sorry. Meanwhile three tables filled up while we were waiting for our order to be taken. The waiter, waited on those other three tables and their food was delivered to them and our order hadn't been taken. So we asked for the check and we left. My friend commented on the service and the waiter said we were busy, they were not busy when we walked in!!! The food is good and your paying for it too, but the service has gotten really bad and their portions have gone down in size. My friends and I will not be going back there again!!!!

Súper triste experiencia :’( Siempre era nuestro restaurante favorito, el cóctel de camarón y pulpo era uno de los mejores en Ajijic. Algo cambió… Hoy reservamos la mesa para 9 personas, invitamos a nuestros amigos para que conozcan el restaurante favorito. Era pura DECEPCIÓN. Cuatro de nosotros pedimos el famoso cóctel… Que sorpresa era recibir un cóctel mal hecho, sin caldo, camarones y pulpo gomosos… Cuando reportamos el problema, nadie lo solucionó. Súper triste. Aparte uno de los cocteles llevaba solamente 2 camarones. Los rollos vietnamita siempre estaban acompañados de una salsa muy rica de cacahuate, hoy no la trajeron y tampoco nos contestaron porque. La salsa agrega la mitad del valor al plato. No volveremos a comer ahí. Ojalá que otras personas tengan experiencia más agradable. Para la comparación: Foto de cóctel de camarón como era antes y el cóctel que nos trajeron hoy. No lo hemos tocado, así lo trajeron, la mitad del vaso y sin caldo.

Lugar decadente. Nos recomendaron este lugar para comer sushi como en Nueva York y vaya decepción que nos llevamos. Al llegar no había más que un sushi horroroso y microscópico así como caro. Pedí un Futomaki que es el peor que he probado mi esposa pidió un rollo que fue deprimente. La mesera nos bajó al perro, actuó con soberbia y prepotencia cuando su servicio fue arrogante y malo. En resumen: una basura de lugar.

De super pésimo mal gusto que llegué a las 7:40 pm y me llega un mozo para decirme que ya ni me siente porque ya iban a cerrar aun cuando su horario lo anuncian a las 9 pm hora de cierre, después de desplazarme para llegar ahi y te salgan con eso es razón suficiente para ya no volver, en anteriores ocasiones me había pasado que en cuanto me sentaba me decían que pidiera porque ya iban a cerrar l cocina, al parecer son instrucciones del chef pero si no aguanta el trabajo para llegar a la hora del cierre que lo cambien, que corrientes de plano.

Food: overpriced and so simple. Sushi 101. Tiny rolls with mediocre ingredients. Futomaki did not have any of the ingredients it requires. 95peso broth when in all Japanese restaurants it's complimentary as the cost is 5 cents to make! Service: a woman with a wool cape and cell phone in her hand at the bar chatting. Never came back to offer water or anything else. Atmosphere: looking at rotaplus and roof dogs hardly justifies their Mexico City or San Miguel prices where there, servers have actual training, uniforms and the decor is fabulous. Places like this thrive on North Americans from places like Ohio, Tennessee who have never even tried sushi so they assume this is exotic.

I don't understand why people find this acceptable. Maybe they are foreigners who come from small towns and have not been exposed to cuisine. The rolls are those you find at walmart or a gas station. Small, overpriced, frozen fish. I understand that there are not many if any Asian options in this town but this is beyond bad and overpriced. Miso soup can be bought in a pouch for $30 pesos and they charge $95 for broth. I think they take people for fools but if you have eaten sushi in any reputable city you would know this is very low.
