Wonderful views and ambiance plus delicious food and great drinks! Mahi mahi and tuna poke bowls were amazing! Perfect place to celebrate a family birthday!
Just amazing drinks & food, wonderful environment and exceptional staff. Great place to visit.
I’d come here over and over again for the bartender Nala. She made us feel more at home than our actual home. The food was delicious as well. Nala was a sweetie and they are super lucky to have her because I’d never imagine going to a place like trader Vic’s but I will definitely go again mainly for her 5 star service. Can’t wait to come back again with friends.
It was our first time to dine at Trader Vic restaurant. It doesn't look like much from the parking lot, other than the marina view, clam waters and the many boats anchored in slips encompasses the vibe. This was Thanksgiving day. WOW..as soon as we entered..our eyes lit up..little did we know-that this was going to be a "WOW EXPERIENCE"! The many staff members greeted us with smiles and salutations. The Buffet style setting was overwhelming, the amount of varieties of dishes..a mind blowing scenario. The constant attentiveness to details was awesum..everytime, we took a bite of food and drink a few sips of water.. the staff with brite smiles were filling up our glass of water and ensuring our needs was taken care of. We will definitely -will be returning for an another wonderful experience at Trader Vics. Thank you Trader Vics- Emeryville
Food is great, staff is even better, and the interior of the place is absolutely magical. Drinks are amazing, definitely a must visit for any cocktail historians as the Mai Tai was invented here! (Albeit in their old location on San Pablo which has since been demolished) Overall amazing, and absolutely will come again!
When you hear about a place that's notably famous for a certain thing, like Michelin food places, sometimes the reality doesn't live up to the expectations. However, my experience with Trader Vic's has been pretty good. Great decor and ambiance - dining while watching boats docked near you is a treat.
Finally made it to Trader Vic's after visiting over 70 tiki bars across the country. They did not disappoint. Great classic drinks (Mai Tai) as well as some unique to the Emeryville location. A lot of history to take in as you walk around and the employees are great and knowledgeable. Food was just as good as the drinks too! Can't recommend enough to visit if you are in the area.
I’ve been coming to Trader Vic’s Emeryville for years, and Didi has been my waitress every time. She is truly one of a kind — caring, gentle, patient, and always understanding. No matter how busy it gets, she treats you with genuine kindness and makes you feel right at home. Didi remembers the little things, pays attention to every detail, and brings warmth to every table she serves. Her service is the perfect mix of professionalism and heart, and she’s a huge part of why this place remains one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Simply put: Didi is the best waitress I’ve ever had, and Trader Vic’s is incredibly lucky to have her. If you’re dining here, I hope you get Didi — she’ll make your experience unforgettable. Thank you, Didi, for all the years of amazing care and kindness. You truly make this restaurant special.
Always a lovely time! We decided to celebrate our anniversary with dinner at Trader Vic's. It's been about a year since we last dined in & the menu was very nicely updated since our last visit. The drinks were great, we had a few appetizers then split a steak & fried rice. The 'decadent' chocolate cake was the only thing that wasn't noteworthy. We will be back!
Maybe the main reason that you're looking at Trader Vic's is because you love Tiki and this place is one of the Legends. If you are just looking for somewhere to eat and you're in the area, get ready for a pretty unique dining experience. I visited in May of this year and all of my expectations were met and exceeded. This visit was to complete my mission to visit to the 3 remaining US-based Trader Vic's locations ( Atlanta, GA, San Jose Airport, CA, Emeryville, CA) I don't think they have a T-shirt for this achievement but I am proud of myself! Trader Vic's does everything that you expect from a Tiki themed restaurant/bar - Polynesian inspired food and Rum-forward cocktails. The food was terrific and the drinks were what I wanted. Only 1 Tiki-drink needs to be followed by at least 2 glasses of water before driving, they are strong! The staff were very friendly and I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area.
We ate here last night and we had such a great experience. Everyone at the restaurant made our experience so great. From the start the hostess was great and the bar waitress was very friendly. Our server at our table was awesome and really engaging with our two girls. Even the support staff was very friendly and professional. The food and drinks were all delicious. Just overall a great time and as always we will keep coming back.
This place never disappoints! This particularSaturday night must be birthday night because there were nonstop celebrations from one table to the next! The bill of fare is just as adventuresome as the eye candy Polynesian interior, all adding to positive festivities. This place is known for its exotic drinks. Never have I seen such an extensive list of exotic libations. The view into the Emeryville Harbor is captivating.
A unique display of food and tastes. Arrived pretty much when it opened. Took a little bit for the food to show up when it did. We were not disappointed. Excellent views and excellent wait.Staff assisted us and cared for us well. The interior is unique and offers view of the water.
Great meal, excellent service, lovely location and sunset views. And they brought back their signature cheesecake!

Cool spot, came for a large party and had a pre ordered menu. Service was good and location had nice views of the bay. The food was nothing special, my son asked if they got it from Costco. Not to knock Costco but would expect the restaurant to be couple levels better. They also "just started" charging for parking, which was something like $65+, yikes. As it was a party, okay I guess, but I wouldn't choose to come here
What a treat! While we weren’t greeted right away at the door, it didn’t take too long for them to find us a seat. Afterwards service was good. I got the Koana puffer which was very good. I enjoyed it alot and the dropper of hard proof alcohol was a treat to sneak in. It’s quite a sweet drink as Tiki drinks are, but overall I enjoyed it alot. Also had to get the original Mai Tai which was typical but a must-try per the menu. I enjoyed it but I didn’t think recall much standing out to me. I am excited however to go back and try some of their other drinks! Everything on the menu looks great!
This place is throwback in time where Tiki bars and cooking over an open fire were more common. The service is excellent, the food is tasty and cocktails are from days gone by. It has nice views of the marina and bay. It's not super expensive, but it's not inexpensive either, so for the average person, it may be categorized as a special occasion dining experience kind of place.

Food: House salad was good but smallish. Brussel sprouts were excellently prepared, cut in half and braised on one side. New potatoes and brussel sprouts were nicely seasoned. Strip steak was a generous size but not well trimmed. I had to remove a finger sized strip of fat and band of gristle that ran most of the length of it. Creme brule was adequate. Service: nothing notable Atmosphere: interesting decor and photos; great view of the bay and marina lights. Value: unknown, as this was a sponsored dinner
Liked the food and the drinks. But, they are now charging $2 per 20 minutes with the first hour free. Seems a bit steep for their own parking lot while eating there.

I’m a regular guest at Trader Vic’s, and it’s always been one of my favorite places — great food, good atmosphere, and usually excellent service. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was very disappointing and not up to the standard I’ve come to expect. Our server was rude and dismissive, which really surprised me since the staff is normally friendly and attentive. I ordered the Tuna Poke, and the portion I received was unusually small — nothing like what I’ve had before or what I’ve seen in other guests’ photos (look at the photo from 9 months ago). I even took a picture, and the difference is clear. When I politely asked for a little more avocado (I should have had more tuna) , I was told it would cost extra, which didn’t feel right given how small the dish already was. The Bar Manager came to our table and was very professional and kind. He listened to our concerns about our other plate and offered to replace the pork slices, which were noticeably drier than usual. Unfortunately, after that interaction, our server seemed upset and avoided our table for the rest of the meal. The replacement meat — including the ribs — was still quite dry, and when we asked for some sauce to help, the tension from the server made things uncomfortable. Another manager was walking by and asked for our check, and decided to leave. I’m sharing this because I truly enjoy Trader Vic’s and have had many great experiences here before. I hope management can look into improving consistency in food quality and portions, and provide some additional customer service training. I’d love to come back and have the kind of experience that made me a regular in the first place.
This place is EXTREMELY over priced. The service was not that great either. It was $33 for a Caesar salad with salmon that was literally leaves of Romain and a sliver of salmon. And the cheese balls were completely empty. I’m sad to say but I feel like there are much better places in the area you can actually get your moneys worth. (I cut up the salad a little before the photo) but not worth it! And to to it al off what Hawaiian restaurant doesn’t have loco micro!!!! Horrible

12/17/24 My friends and I had a reservation at 5:45 to celebrate my g.f' birthday. Basically service was non existent. We seldom saw our server and kept having to ask the bus person to get our server and was shocked the multiple times we had to tell him our server hadn't come. We were left for long periods of time unable to order drinks or appetizers. In addition we told our server that one member of our party was stuck in traffic. Which isn't a single not to check in on us. I will also say how important it is to list the ingredients on the menue. This is a life saving method. As I almost ate the calamari which had sliced onions/leeks on top I almost mistook it as papaya. The menu had no indication there was sliced onions on top I am extremely thankful my girlfriend took a bite first. Anyhow, I was able to make sure the other items I ordered had no onions and explained my allergy to our server & the bus person. Our dinner came out fast, thanks to the kitchen staff. However agian the server lacked continuing to follow up. I believe we only tipped about 10 or 12 % on a $200 plus bill, which honestly in my opinion should have gone to the bus person & kitchen staff as they did all the work. Tipping fatigue has really grown on a lot of people & this is why, lack of service & the expectation of a 25% or more tip.. Its unfair when people generally go out for a good experience.
