Barberio Osteria has been on my "want to try" list for a while, so I was excited to see them on the Restaurant Week lineup. My husband and I decided to go and noticed there was plenty of reservation availability online, so we opted to walk in. We were seated right away, although next time I might book ahead since it looked like reservations offered more options (e.g., counter vs. standard seating). No big deal though - it was fun watching the hustle and bustle of the open kitchen (even if it got a little warm near the wood-burning grill). Since there were two of us, we were able to try almost everything on the RW menu (everything except the cappelletti), while also getting glimpses of other dishes being prepped in the kitchen. As a pasta fan, I was especially excited for the pappardelle with bolognese, and it did not disappoint. Everything we tried was delicious — shoutout to the tonno e fagioli too! Even though it was a busy night, the staff were attentive and quick to respond. I'm looking forward to coming back soon and trying some of their non-RW items!
From start to finish, the service was stellar. Everyone had warm smiles and welcomed us in. Food was incredible. We sat at the bar and witnessed all the food being prepared. We got the papperadelle and red snapper special. DELICIOUS! The team is hard working. Great local place to support.
Truly one of the best meals of my life. The food was absolutely perfect. Don't miss the bagna cauda....warm garlic anchovy olive oil bath that you'll want to drink out of the ramekin. The 40 yolk pasta was so good we ordered two more! And we ordered another ravioli because it blew us away. The steak and branzino nearly made me pass out because they were so goddamn delicious. Honestly I haven't had a meal this good in years. The service was excellent also. These guys know what they're doing, please eat here, it's incredible!!!
Barberio Osteria is a solid Italian restaurant on the Valencia corridor-- I enjoyed a relaxing meal sitting by the window overlooking the bypassers on Valencia. The Heirloom tomato salad was an excellent starter-ripe tomatoes and delicious dressing. We ordered two pastas recommended by the server-- both were good but not great. The server was attentive and friendly
This place was absolutely fantastic. Dishes were executed perfectly, had great flavors, varied textures, and looked stunning on the plate. If you’re looking for some high end Italian fare, this cannot be missed.
I recently dined at an Italian restaurant in the heart of the Mission District and had an amazing experience. From the friendly and energetic service to the delicious dishes and desserts, the whole experience was wonderful. The Agnolotti stuffed pasta, pappardelle pasta, and the white panna cotta dessert were all absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. I also enjoyed the Betty White cocktail (R.I.P), which was made with egg white foam. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for its excellent service, delicious dishes, and authentic Italian cuisine.
Surprisingly good, authentic Italian is a wonderful new addition to Valencia Street. The pastas are delicious and unique and the service was super friendly. It's most comparable to Delfina, but note that there aren't cocktails here - just wine, beer, and spritz.
My first time here was a year ago and it was 'meh'. The menu has much improved and our waitress was super helpful and nice. We ordered all 6 pasta dishes and 5/6 were surprisingly good.
Barberio Osteria owners and chef know what they are doing! Delicious and authentic Italian dishes, great selection of wine and champagne, and personal service! My favorite dish only because it was unexpected the prosciutto with Parm!! This will be a redo for sure.
Authentic Italian cuisine, prepared to perfection, served with attention to detail. A very elegant experience indeed. Owners Saul and Nick have brought culinary perfection to the Mission district

Loved our dinner and the wonderful service. Highly recommend the bolognese and the squash stuffed pastas. Will definitely return. Added plus: Cushions on the seats and back pillow on the bench! Hallelujah!!!!!
This place should be packed - food is delicious and the service is top notch. Went with a group so got to try lots of things and everything was fantastic! Especially loved the gnoccho fritto with prosciutto, the branzino, and the bolognese. The place was pretty empty on a Thursday night which made me sad - they should be much busier. Go support this place!
Celebrated our anniversary at Barberio Osteria last weekend. Fairly quiet on a Saturday evening at the restaurant. The service is great and very friendly. Amazing cocktails and extensive wine list. And the food is equally fantastic. You definitely need to try their house made pasta.
Excellent meal! I came on a Tuesday night for a solo meal and was treated so so well. The server gave me several excellent selections including a citrus salad I probably wouldn't have otherwise tried. I also had the squash ravioli and papardelle, everything was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The ambiance was very nice and comfortable, neither too formal nor too fasual. Very surprised the restaurant wasn't more busy, but definitely take advantage of that before everyone finds out it's so delicious.
Fabulous. Well priced. Bargain for everything you get. The host, who is also the owner I believe, was tremendous. We brought two bottles of wine and he completely understood the importance of these wines for the evening. There was eight of us and we kind of allowed the Staff to guide us on how much food and what to order and they did a fantastic job of not overselling, but making sure that we had plenty of food. They gave us stemware for each of the different bottles of wine, including the bottle that we initially ordered. They changed our plates for each Round of food. They were super attentive without Lingering around us. I wish I lived in the city so I could come back more often. Highly recommend. The only Negative, and even if this is a negative, would be That the place is loud. Which doesn’t bother me, but it was hard to hear conversation from one end of the table to the other end. If you’re thinking about this place, don’t think any further just go. You’ll be happy.
This is such a neighborhood gem of a seafood restaurant. Everything is tasty, unique and innovative. The service also totally top notch and above and beyond. I’ve always loved their sister restaurant Alto Vino so I was excited to find them opening one in my hood. I was there on Monday and just had a spontaneous need for a pick me up dinner after a rough day. I was greeted with a welcome champagne that was so delicious I ended up ordering two more. My favorite here are the appetizers like Bagna Capra and acciughe. Haven’t officially tried the pastas since I don’t usually do carbs or diary but friends have ordered them and love theirs. Thank you!

Had a wonderful dinner at Barberio Osteria! The food was fresh and full of flavor, and the young lady who served us was so kind and attentive. The warm, inviting atmosphere made the evening feel extra special. Definitely a spot I’d love to return to!

Best Italian on Valencia street! The food was refined, authentic and delicious! We got an antipasto and two pasta entrees and it was just the right amount of food for my husband and I. The atmosphere is cozy and the waiters were great. I highly recommend!
Romantic, trendy spot on Valencia. I’m surprised at how easy it was to get a Saturday night reservation the day-off, but it was to my benefit — would definitely come back for dinner with friends before a night out. Great wine list, excellent pastas and the market fish was super filling. My personal favorite was salty, rich mushroom ravioli, but others really liked the red sauce.
The food is very good here as long as you are not trying something that seems experimental. Service is okay if your waitress isn't serving that many tables at the same time. Reservation recommended!
everything was pretty good, but nothing was quite extraordinary (save maybe the tuna white bean salad). still, a lovely dinner out.

Second visit. The pasta dish was outstanding, but the fish (snapper), which we ordered for 3 diners, was tiny (menu said it would feed 2-4 people, hardly), not very fresh and uninteresting. Definitely not worth the $57 price tag. Desserts were good, but all the options were pudding like, so not much variety. I seem to remember from previous visit that portions, and wine pourings, were more generous.
