Opinions de Mr. East Kitchen Alameda
One of my favorite brunch spots in San Francisco with Thai and Vietnamese fusion cuisine. I ordered the tom yum omelette, which comes with a side of potatoes and your choice of fruit or salad. I was pleasantly surprised, since I don't usually see this combination. The dish was bursting with flavor, with a nice balance of savory, sour, and spicy. It's also topped with pieces of sriracha bacon which has just the right kick. The Saigon steak was incredibly flavorful and ended up being our table's favorite dish. The beef was soft and tender, cooked with a generous amount of stir-fried onions. The restaurant uses a different type of noodle for their drunken noodles, but it's still a solid dish with peppers, basil and onions. I recommend the iced butterfly lychee fizz. Its not too sweet, and the lychee flavor is prominent. Good morning drink if you dont want caffeine or mimosa! The interior is nice, modern and comfortable. The servers are attentive, and it was overall a great experience.
Brunch here was an absolute delight from start to finish. The moment our food arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful presentation and generous portions. Every dish looked thoughtfully prepared, colorful, and inviting. The flavors were incredible—fresh, perfectly seasoned, and balanced in a way that made each bite better than the last. The French Toast were light and airy with just the right touch of sweetness, and the savory dishes were hearty without feeling too heavy. What truly stood out was the quality of the ingredients. You could taste the freshness in everything, from the crisp fruits to the perfectly Vietnamese’s coffee. Beyond the food itself, the overall brunch experience was wonderful. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a slow morning or celebrate with friends and family. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure our table had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. If you’re looking for delicious food, generous portions, and a place that truly knows how to do brunch right, this is definitely a spot worth visiting again and again.
My coworkers chose this place for lunch; otherwise, I would not have ever known about this restaurant. We were a party of 4. We came on a Wednesday around noon & were seated right away. The place wasn’t too small or big; in essence, you could hold an audible conversation. Our waitress was great. The food was great and I thought the portions were huge. We started off sharing the shrimp spring rolls. The white wrap was good and not chewy or hard. The peanut sauce was good. For drinks, I got the Dalgona coffee. It was rich and tasty. I love breakfast/brunch and this place serves it until 3pm! I had the Eggs Florentine Benedict. Came with a side salad and potatoes. The toasted potatoes were cut really small, which is what I like; I’m not a fan of big wedge style potatoes. All of it was good. Couldn’t clean my plate off because I was so full. I took a picture of it but later found out my phone didn’t save it for some reason, so apologies for not including a pic. Other items my coworkers got were: some type of noodles, stir fried eggplant/chicken w/sunny side egg on top of rice. This looked good and they finished it. Overall, food, service, and place were great. The price is about $16+. Typical rates for the area; however, the quantity and quality is worth it. I would definitely come back here!
This place deserves a big fat thumbs up for their attentiveness, taste and portions. I ordered their tomyum omelette, hainan chicken rice , salmon curry and crunchy French toast via ubereats. Firstly, I m pleansantly surprised with the potatoes from the omelette. It survived the delivery process and was still crispy . I asked for extra sauce for my chicken rice and they complied! Simple to do but yet so difficult for so many vendors whom don't give a damn so good job! The sauce and rice was flavourful and I enjoyed it! I asked for extra spicy for my salmon curry and they did !! They wrote it on the box which I think was so sweet. They packaged everything so well and I truly appreciate everything. 100 bucks well spent thank you! Ps: thank you for the extra bokchoy!!! I'll be sure to order again everytime I'm in sfo! ❤️
This Thai place is my go-to for my boyfriend and I for our date night dinners. It’s our favorite place in the city because of the savory and sweet flavors of the sauce, the crunch factor of the vegetables, and the variety of yummy yet colorful non-alcoholic drinks. Every time we come back, it’s been consistently delicious and the staff are very sweet ☺️ thank you, Mr. East Kitchen for serving up this comfort food!
I didn’t expect THIS level of vegan brunch—wow. I had my every plate customised and they were fire 🔥 the presentation is so cute 🥹✨, and they have huge portions. What we tried: 🍞 Thai Tea French Toast- unique, slightly sweet, and a must-try if you like dessert-style brunches 🍍 Pineapple Fried Rice- very flavourful 🍆 Eggplant Tofu (vegan)- crispy, well-seasoned, and incredibly satisfying 🥑 Florentine Benedict with vegan steak Drinks were a highlight 🍹 🦋 Butterfly Lychee Fizz (my favorite!) 🍊 Orange Passion Fruit Breeze ☕ Coffee lovers — don’t skip the Dalgona coffee. ☕️ They have Pink Dalgona Coffee and 🍭 Frosty mint Dalgona coffee.(if you’re a mint person) Friendly staff, great vibes, beautiful plating, and solid portions. Definitely coming back 💯
Customer service, atmosphere, drinks and food surpassed our expectations! The food has generous portions and lots of variety in every dish! We will definitely be coming back here again! Worth the visit and we recommend anyone to come :)
A friend recommended this place to me! It's a gem! The environment is pretty cozy. It's small and industrial. Tables are all clean. They have inside and outside seating. Their service was super nice! Everything came quickly. When you ask for suggestions, they are very informative. At the end of my bill, I accidentally paid more tips than what I intended to. They quickly refunded me and was able to help me input the amount I was gonna do I wanna give them extra tips just for that! I was taking pictures for the review. Their staff were so friendly and thanked me even though they have no idea I am a Yelp elite! The food portion is really big and tasty! Cooked just right! And drinks were awesome! So instagrammable!! And not overly sweet! I would love to swing back again! Recommended!
Delicious with reasonable prices and great presentation! I was looking for something a bit more unique and dairy-free compared to the usual diner breakfast. At first their menu looked like it was very lunch focused, but looking closer a lot of the dishes had a breakfast fusion to them. I got the Hai Nan Chicken which was delicious and flavorful. The coffee was also strong and hit the spot compared to what I had this morning. The presentation was beautiful. I thought the white thing was some kind of dallop of sour cream, it was actually a beautifully poached egg.
⭐ 15/10 — Mr. East Kitchen Delivers Big Flavor and Fast Service ⭐ I was in San Francisco this week for Dreamforce and needed a solid meal after a long day of sessions. I turned to Yelp to find a spot with great reviews, and that’s how I landed at Mr. East Kitchen. I’m so glad I did — they absolutely delivered. My colleague ordered the Banh Mi sandwich, and I went with the Angus steak dish. He paired his meal with a bold Vietnamese coffee, while I opted for the lychee fizzy drink, which was light, refreshing, and the perfect contrast to the richness of the steak. The food came out impressively fast — no long wait, just straight to the good part. Every bite was flavorful, balanced, and clearly made with care. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the overall experience felt effortless in the best way. If I could give this place a 15 out of 10, I would. Excellent food, great service, and quick turnaround — exactly what you want whether you’re in town for a conference or just craving a quality meal. Highly recommend Mr. East Kitchen — it’s the kind of spot that quietly surprises you and makes you want to come back.
My friend and I had a reservation for Sunday at 1:30pm and were seated outside since it was a nice day. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte and pad see ew with shrimp, and my friend ordered the hai nan chicken and iced butterfly lychee fizz. The drinks were delicious and vibrant. The pad see ew had a large portion and great flavor! Definitely want to come back and try their brunch offerings.
Came in for brunch - highly recommend everything we got. The garlic fries were excellent - super garlicky and with the perfect crisp. I ordered the chicken waffle, which was one of the best I’ve had. Try the Vietnamese coffee too!
Wonderful and cozy place! Delicious and beautifully presented food, calm atmosphere, and super friendly staff. They accidentally brought chicken curry instead of tofu, but fixed it right away — within two minutes! Our Thai waiter was so polite and kind that it only made the experience even better. Thank you for such a lovely branch! 💛
Came in as a pretty big group and they were able to seat us right away. The service was amazing! She was really nice and we even got free drinks by following their instagram!!! The food was also delicious. The portions are big so you will definitely be leaving with a full stomach!
Came for Saturday brunch, and they were packed! My friends and I ordered the Saigon steak, tom yum omelette, garlic noodles, and drunken noodles. I was surprised by how yummy the noodles were - the sauces for both were delicious! The tom yum omelette was unique, and the beef in the Saigon steak was tender. We also ordered the pink Dalgona coffee, strawberry matcha, and orange breeze which were all delicious. Solid spot for brunch and other asian fusion dishes.
FAST!! Maybe to fast. I ordered an appetizer, thinking it would come out first but it came out with my hot meal at the same time. Like in 6 minutes! I wasn't prepared.😅 It was so much food. All very good. Wings with fries and noodles with beef.
Servers were so friendly, and its a really nice little quaint place with a good menu. Big portion sizes. All the food looked good, I would have tried more if I had a bigger stomach. Definitely one of the best places in the area.
This pho was absolutely phenomenal! Every last part of this restaurant was amazing from the food, coffee and amazing service. Highly recommend anyone who's visiting San Fran to try this place out!
We had a lovely brunch at Mr. East Kitchen recently and were truly amazed by its well-seasoned and beautiful dishes that were meticulously crafted with authentic Thai and Vietnamese influences! Every dish was equal parts comforting and refreshing, and we particularly enjoyed the flavorful Tom Yum omelet, as the strong spices of the Tom Yum paired nicely with the delicate omelette and crisp savory potatoes. The drinks, such as the Strawberry Fizz and Butterfly Lychee Fizz also offered a refreshing fruity complement to the savoriness of the meals, and the sauces, such as the rich but delectable apple mustard and Thai Tea sauce melded beautifully with its offerings, from the delicately sweet pandan waffle to the French toast! It blends both American influence with diverse Asian flavors beautifully, all in a cozy, welcoming environment, and the friendly, warm service truly added a wonderful touch to our experience! Would definitely try again!

Chicken and waffles were good .. wish they had a boneless version though .. cappuccino is large size great for kickstarting the day . Good service with small team at brunch time .

Cute brunch/cafe spot. Highly recommended! Service was on top of refilling water. Portions were very filling and satisfying. Thai Tea French Toast - Plated beautifully, only wish the toast was soaked in Thai Tea. Pad Thai - Can’t complain, always a staple. Hai Nan Chicken - Chicken cooked to perfection. Rice was very savory and yummy. Saigon Steak - Cooked tenderly, highly recommend and very filling. Iced Butterfly Lychee Fizz and Orange Passion Fruit Breeze - Refreshing asian fusion drinks.
I had the loveliest lunch at Mr. East Kitchen with two of my closest mom friends, and we’re still talking about it. The food was absolutely delicious—every bite felt comforting and made with care. We shared the Thai Tea French Toast, Spicy Bacon Benedict, Saigon steak, and the Mr. East Salad—each one was so unique and flavorful. The French toast had this incredible Thai tea flavor that was subtly sweet and totally craveable. The Benedict came with a spicy house sauce that tied everything together beautifully. And the salad was fresh, crisp, and just right. The staff were kind, the atmosphere was warm, and it truly felt like one of those places you discover and keep coming back to. Whether you’re from the Bay or visiting, don’t miss this spot!
I came to San Francisco for a business trip and had the pleasure of eating here two days for lunch. The food and staff were incredible. They have so many options, delicious drinks, and delicious food. I’m definitely going to miss this place once I’m back home.
Such an unusual Breakfast! Tom Yum Omelette! Thai Tea French Toast. It was all so good. Others had a traditional breakfast. The Bacon was slightly sweet and mildly spicy. Will definitely come Back!
I thought this place was great. Fantastic food, friendly service, happening vibe. We ordered a lot: Eggplant Tofu - excellent Shrimp Fresh Rolls Hot Wings & Garlic Fries Saigon Steak Strawberry Fizz Limeade Fizz Garlic Noodle Bowl w/ Steak Orange Passion Fruit Breeze Thai Tea French Toast Combo Pink Dalgana Coffee - the winner Fried Chicken Sandwich
3.5 Had high hopes for this Thai brunch fusion eatery but some dishes fall a bit flat. Do hope that they taking this criticism constructively. Id suggest coming during brunch cause of seems all the cool dishes are at brunch. Unfortunately I came during dinner so we had the dinner menu. Chicken and waffles- The chicken is fried differently than like southern fried chicken which is fine. Chicken was generally juicy but pretty bland. Don't think it was seasoned at all. It does come with the syrup tho which you really need to drench on there to get some flavor. The pandan waffle had good texture but suffers from the same issue. Not enough pandan flavor. I got the dish with the Sriracha bacon. That was really good tho! Would recommend The Hainan chicken has the same issue as the chicken above. Just kinda bland. Best dish of the night was the pad kee mao bbq pork. I chose bbq pork cause I'd never seen bbq pork in pad kee mao... Alas it was not bbq pork but more like grilled pork. However it was so damn good all was forgiven. The pork was so good and the dish itself very flavorful. Highly recommend Viet coffee dalgona was tasty. Would recommend if you like Viet coffee. Overall some good and some meh dishes. I really wanted to try their tom yum omelette so I won't rule out coming back but since it's quite a drive from SJ it'll def be awhile.
