Great spot for a bite and drink! Staff is very nice and welcoming and the place has a good atmosphere. A little pricey but makes sense because it feels upscale.
Attended a company party here and was really impressed. The cocktails were fantastic, my favorite being the cactus cooler, which included prickly pear, mezcal, and some other delicious stuff to make a well balanced drink. The food was from a limited party menu, but the sliders were particularly incredible. There were a variety of great hors d'oeuvres including a particularly great eggplant won ton that was both crispy and soft in an exacting execution that I haven’t seen done as well anywhere else. The service was professional and friendly. I like the elegant minimalism of the decor that was both sleek and comfortable. I highly recommend exploring this newly developing area of Alameda and trying this restaurant.
This was a refreshing experience. I feel like nearly everywhere i go these days there is very little value for your money and you can pay an arm and leg and not receive quality. This was not the case with Saltbreaker. I went about 3 weeks ago with a colleague and everything was delicious. The drinks were reasonably priced and actually tasted like they use fresh ingredients. Everything was great - don't even need to recommend anything on the menu.
We went to Saltbreaker for what turned out to be their first brunch ever. While there were some very slight hiccups (to be expected when trying something new), they comped an item as an apology that more than made up for it. Regardless, even if they had not done that great bit of service I would be rating them a 5/5. The space is extremely well done with thoughtful furniture and design touches such as heath ceramic tiles at the bar and plants on top of the lights. The food itself was wonderful through and through. The salad was visually appealing and tasty, the smoked trout was packed with the right amount of flavor, our burger was exactly what we wanted and came with a mountain of fresh cut fries, and the avocado toast was not only delicious but a generous portion. We often go to the alameda antiques faire and will be back at Saltbreaker many times I suspect!
Not much to say. Seated at the bar and got to chat with the bartenders. Overall, a good experience for a quick catch up session with friends. Loved the dim but still casual vibe.
I come here most Wednesday’s for date night. Mike makes the BEST dirty martini and his specialty cocktails are always a hit. I’ve had most everything on the menu and keep coming back for more!
I went with my parents and their dog. All the food tasted very fresh and well-seasoned. It almost felt they dont even have a freezer lol. There isnt much outdoor seating, but I still would sit out there every time if I could. The breeze and fresh airt from the bay and water is unbeatable.
Had a great birthday meal for my mom. Excellent service and atmosphere. We loved the beef carpaccio, crudo and focaccia. The Caesar salad was also a hit. My chicken w gnocchi was flavorful and moist! Husband said his duck was a little dry and over salted. Both moms got the salmon and loved it and of course dad’s burger was perfect. Topped it off with some delicious fun desserts and it was a great night.
Absolutely perfect! Staff was so friendly, food was beyond amazing, and cocktails were perfect! We had the burrata app = superb, the steak = perfect, pasta =creamy heaven but not too heavy, two desserts = couldn't get enough!! Truly a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back many more times!!!
This is our family's favorite place to go for a fancy night out. We probably shouldn't have introduced our kid to it, because now he expects to go on all our date nights and he has an insatiable liking for crudo. 😂
We all loved our evening at Saltbreaker! Have been wanting to go since they opened, but never found the time. It is perfect! We had reservations and initially were taken to the side room. It's cozy but given our celebratory mood we asked to be moved to front. The hostess worked a bit of magic and we got moved to a charming spot near corner of main room. The bar is gorgeous, the entire place echoed our happy vibes. Ameerat served our table with much kindness and cheer. We honestly could have stayed the whole evening. Wonderful energy that still resonates the following morning. Food was fabulous, edible pieces of art! Drinks were creative and festive. Truly a memorable evening for us. Thank you to everyone at Saltbreaker for giving us such a hearty and welcoming experience.
Steak seared in butter so good.. It took alot of work to prep the specialy prepared leeks on top of the steak. Rossetti was so good. The lemon tart was delicious. Nice to see wines made in Napa and Almeda being served.
3rd time at Saltbreaker and it never disappoints. Everything was delicious, but I highly recommend the steak frites, hamachi crudo, smoked trout dip, beef carpaccio, house made focaccia with garlic butter, and lemon tart! Menu changes a bit but updated regularly on the website The space is modern, clean, and cozy with beautiful decor. It's great for a date night or a nice dinner with friends and family!
The food was delish but the service was inconsistent. We were served by multiple ppl but were told Emily would be our services throughout the night we have saw her twice. The food was very well done. We got the burrata, the Caesar, the special anchovy toast, the cast iron chicken, branzino, and the fresh pasta carbonara with the shoe string potatoes and the Brussels sprouts. For dessert, we got the chocolate bar. All in all a great meal for a fair price. Would be back if in the area as it’s one of the nicer restaurants in Alameda
This spot is very hidden from the outside with lots of parking. I brought my girlfriend here for our date. I made reservations through there website. You can pick bar or patio seating. We sat by the bar. We were greeted by our bartender and started with our drinks. We then ordered the focaccia bread as our appetizer. For mains, we ordered the beef Wellington and fresh pasta then finished our night with a tiramisu. Everything went well, no complaints. Very modern on the inside. Food and drinks were good.
We’ve recently visited Saltbreaker Restaurant and had an amazing experience. The hospitality was top-notch, thanks to the outstanding service provided by the host, Scott. Cannot forget Ceecee, who added a positive touch to the welcoming note and overall stay. They were both incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the burger, accompanied by the round on the house (THANK YOU, Scott). The burger was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a delight. The fries was something not to forget - crispy and perfectly done. The inside of the restaurant has a cozy seating, cute little bar with wide selection of spirits of your taste. The in-house recipe of Manhattan, preferred by an awesome bartender, gets a shout out as well. I highly recommend Saltbreaker Restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Five stars all the way!
Had dinner with my wife, daughter and her fiance. I had the steak frites, which was excellent! My wife had the pasta, which she loved. My daughter had the mussels in a curry sauce that were excellent, and her fiance had the roast salmon that he said was delicious. Service was great, and parking was plentiful. Yet another great restaurant in Alameda - who knew?
Great local upscale restaurant. I've visited for their brunch and dinner. The menu wasn't overly complicated which made it easy to pick a few items and share. Servings are very generous. They have some very fun and tasty cocktails which make it hard to choose just one. The wait staff were friendly and made great recommendations. Glad to have this type of eatery so close. Definitely a place I'd recommend and eat at more than once. A new go to for all kinds of celebrations of just great food and atmosphere.
This is a fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is great, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. I had the chicken, which I highly recommend as it had the perfect accompaniments.
Found the place last minute and decided to come check it out. We ended up being seated in the private room area as the main area an bar were completely full and really appreciated that. The food was delicious and big kudos to the chef as the skin on the chicken and also the salmon were absolutely beautifully crispy. Service was also very attentive and knowledgeable. Overall was really happy to find Saltbreaker. Hope to visit soon and perhaps even use the private space for team or group events.
The staff and host were so kind and attentive! I went for my 30th birthday, and they gave me a complimentary glass of champagne. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Temperature and taste were right on the money. I loved the atmosphere that was curated. It's small, but it doesn't feel crowded. I definitely recommend
We went for happy hour and had a wonderful time. Their pork belly sando was a great combination of sweet and savory, and their smash burger was a solid and delicious choice. Great caribbean jerk wings - flavor and texture were the best. But really, the desserts are what blew us away—their special was a Mont Blanc, and my gosh, it was amazing! We also tried their bisque cheesecake and lemon tart, which were the highlights of the night. Overall, it’s truly a great spot to eat at and the service was amazing.
We went to salt breaker because it was close to the breweries and couldn't have been happier. we had quick, courteous service (the food came out too quickly for me). We had the pork belly sandwich and the Caesar salad with chicken. Both very good. Our fav item may have been the peanut butter old fashioned. Unique and tasty!
Reservations on a week night- service was really on point from hostess at front to every part of in house team. Hamachi Crudo was SO delicious as was the trout rillette. Steak frites w perfect crispy fries excellent also. The off menu dessert special was sesame 3 ways. Perfection. Non alcoholic grapefruit / rosemary drink delicious- local wine & beer picks were good! Definitely will return
Just splendid service , elegantly unique and memorable cocktails, with a thoughtful and delicious menu. I scored the artichoke dip , salmon thing, and a burger, all were above and beyond. As for drinks I tried the basil gin martini that literally glowed and has delicate flavor to match. Next I had the orange cream soda which was also delicious. If your around alameda it’s worth a stop for sure.

I've been going here since open.I love the specials.I love the food.I know everybody by name and I love this restaurant The brazito's amazing the fresh made homemade pasta is always to die for. I especially go there for crudo hamachi and salmon with red fresno peppers that are just so fabulous. Last night. I had the special of the lobster.Shrimp real shrimp can't say how fast i ate that! I love all the servers everyone that works there.I know my name they're really cool. They remember me.It's just a wonderful place to eat.- I take friends there when they're visiting.
Delicious food! I had the Market greens with steak and my friends had the Thai curry salmon. My steak was melt in my mouth tender and the green were given a special flavor with spiced up seeds on watermelon radish pieces. My dish looked beautiful and tasted great. Excellent combination of quality, flavor, and texture. All of us finished our plates/bowls to the last morsel. Our server was delightful and happy to assist with anything! Also, the lemon meringue tart was homemade and delicious! It's my favorite restaurant in Alameda now!!
One of our favorite spots! Saltbreaker is a terrific value, with expertly prepared dishes, well-crafted cocktails, and a well-curated selection of wines that nicely cover their food offerings. Super friendly and attentive service, and a lively vibe!

Good food and good service. The clam chowder was probably the best clam chowder I've ever had, but it could have been a little bit warmer. I ordered the burger and fries. Unfortunately, despite my requesting no mayonnaise, it was slathered with mayonnaise, or rather dijonnaise as they called it. And I was a little disappointed in my fries. The two folks sitting next to me ordered the steak and fries, and their fries looked absolutely amazing - - crispy and brown and fresh. My fries were a little bit white and not quite what I would call crispy. The service was outstanding. I was sitting at the bar, so I got to watch the bartender working like a chemist to make some of the most beautiful mixed drinks I've ever seen. I was only having a diet coke. But he kept my Diet Coke glass full. The staff could not have been nicer. On my way out, the host took a minute to go out of her way and say thank you for coming in. The dining room was immaculately clean, as was the bathroom. The bus person quickly wiped down the table as soon as my plate was taken away. There's convenient parking right outside the door. I think I will be back here again, but I'll be sure to request my fries extra crispy and fresh. And I might well order that steak and fries combo. It really looked amazing.
We enjoyed excellent service! Our wait staff was knowledgeable took time to explain drink options and dish ingredients. The restaurant was aware of our food allergies and made dining suggestions. Select the deviled eggs w/candied bacon, the focaccia is served w/ the tasty butter and baked garlic. The broccolini is also another must-have dish, while the Cesar salad w/ fancy anchovies is a subtle savory treat.
Our friends from Alameda recommended Saltbreaker. We made reservations for the next day. When we sat down, we hummed along to the 70's tunes while enjoying our red wine and cocktail. We ordered appetizers, main course, and dessert. All very enjoyable.
We were a party of 3 and we did the full experience with multiple drinks, appetizers and entrees (but no dessert). My “Natures Will” mescal cocktail was excellent. No booze cocktail my Dad got was really good too. Food was good. Steak tartare was very good. Cheese soufflé was tasty. But the steak part of my Steak Frites was visually underwhelming and a little sad; just cut roughly and not plated well - looked like the steak was rushed onto the plate. Pasta was OK. Service wasn’t as good as I anticipated for a place that I’ve heard so much about. For me an indicator of a friendly vibe is having staff say “bye” and “thanks” to you when you leave, but that didn’t happen to us. Maybe because we were there late and the staff was getting ready to close down? Still wasn’t an excuse in my opinion especially after we spent ~$250 for the night. Another note about the vibe and staff: there’s a tinge of “yeah… we know we’re good” kind of attitude, which is a turn off to me. Might be just me but you can judge for yourself.
oh man we love this place since it opened, love the creative drinks (the peanut butter old fashioned is my fave) and excellent courses and dessert (the basque cheesecake is insane) really nice space and the staff is awesome the only dings are that the menu never seems to change and the vegetarian selection that I tend to prefer is rather limited.
4 stars for the food, 3 stars for service. They acknowledged it was a birthday dinner on arrival. Food was really good, however they brought one wrong dish. Unclear who's fault it was as the waitress just took it away without explanation and brought the correct one (salmon - was bland). The wait staff were standing around and even passing through our room, but it was impossible to get their attention. We had to get up numerous times to find someone to ask for more water and utensils. Dessert finally came but again with no forks or plates, and not even a birthday candle. We waited for about 10 mins before getting up to ask for help again. Thankfully the food made up for it, but not sure if I'll be back anytime soon.
“The food was really delicious, the drinks were amazing, and the dessert was okay. I really enjoyed the vibe, and the staff were nice. The only issue I had was that, even though we had a reservation, after about an hour we were asked to leave to make room for more guests. I didn’t appreciate that, as it felt a bit rude. Overall, I liked the experience, but that part was disappointing.
It's a semi-fine modern set American restaurant with cosy and relax atmosphere. Service was really good from the reservation till the end with welcoming and accommodating attitude. Food was tasty and fresh. I'd for sure be back for both burger and chicken sandwich! Didn't much like the Oysters and the lemon tart tbh! Cocktails were not like sugary juices in many places and with real alcohol! Ask for specials for the day or night! Plenty of parking available.

Pasta was fantastic (except for the gross mushrooms), but the steak was disgusting. I don't even mind that it was severely under-cooked, it just tasted horrible. We shared the pasta and asked for a check, and the bartender seemed bewildered and had a hint of attitude when I told him the steak was bad and we would not be finishing it. I absolutely love steak, but were told the steak would be medium rare and it came out as red as some fresh caught tuna. The outside was seared the slightest bit, and the taste was God awful. Will not be coming back.
I told them no brie on the hamburger. The Hamburger came with brie They put on a ton of Cherry Jam that was very sweet. It did not taste like a hamburger. More like candy. They are are little bit too creative for me. the burger patty itself was good. But it was 26 dollars . Pricy. Popular and crowded mid week.
Saltbreaker was a favorite of mine, and frankly still is but some menu (price changes) have affected the frequency that I'll go. Go for the "bigs" on their menu or the specials which are often very good. And the cocktails. Happy hour is a great time to go if you want something else. Wait staff and bartenders are very friendly. I really struggle with $26 for a smash burger. It's a good burger with a bacon bits inside which up the flavor, but that's a high price. On Sundays there's a food truck outside the sells smash burgers for $10 less than that. The $33 steak frites are also priced steeply for what you get. I guess the problem is I'm not sure if Saltbreaker knows what it wants to be. If it's going to be high end that's fine. If it's going to be a normal night out, that's fine too. Right now, the wires are crossed--and they didn't used to be.
Prompt and friendly service, nice cozy atmosphere, thoughtful tight menu, and good drinks. All dishes were plated beautifully, cooked well using fresh ingredients, but unfortunately the flavor just wasn’t there. Steak was under-seasoned, pastry of the Wellington undercooked, all sauces not bright or bold, multiple components in a dish not cohesive or complimenting the main protein, etc. Modern creative takes on comfort classics seemed to justify the higher-end prices conceptually, but fell short in actual taste.

Service was SO slow! It took 25 minutes to take our drink order and 40 minutes had past before we could order food. Food was great, despite finding a hair in a salad, but doesn't make up for the slowness. Staff was courteous, but maybe overstretched? I wouldn't return nor recommend.
Had a reservation for 6:30. Didn't sit till 7:10. Since we had a party of 3, they only wanted to sit us at a certain table, because that table sat for an extended period of time we had to wait, even thought they could have moved two table together to sit us or sit us at a table of four, they decided not to and said they only wanted to sit us at the table for three. Talked to the manager and he gave us lip service but didn't do anything. Never came back to check on us. Good was OK but would never go back and will tell friends and family that it's not a great restaurant. Waitress was good
