Tip: The restaurant can get crowded at lunch, but they'll find you a seat. If you like spicy, try the Mongolian beef and remember to tell the waitress you want it spicy.

Opinions de Shanghai China Restaurant Alameda
I really like the house fried rice. It comes with some chicken, some bbq chasu, and some shrimp (3). Sometimes the take out comes in a paper box and some other times it comes in a plastic small tray. I wonder why. Ive eaten there in person only once to try their lunch menu, which consists on a bowl of soup, a mini spring roll, plain rice, and a meat/veggie. The quantity is pretty big. The soup I had was the egg and tofu soup, very tasty. I got the chicken string beans combo, which doesnt show on the menu but shows on the small blackboard on the wall. The photos i added are from take out I did some weeks ago. the sesame chicken was very tasty, and i really liked the string beans dish too. The other meats (mongolian beef and pork ribs) were so-so. For an order above $35, the fried rice or noodles dish comes for free (but you have to ask for it). Service is fair, prices are cheap (usually under $10 per person), and they are fast.

Good Chinese food at a very good price. Crowded at lunch time but they always seem to find you a seat. Menu has a nice variety. I recommend the chow fun or, if you're into spicy, the mongolian beef:(remember to tell the waitress you want it spicy). Wonton soup rocks!
Food arrived hot, fresh, and fast within 40 minutes. General Gau's Chicken, Hunan Crispy Beef, and Beef Chow Mein. My only critique is that the Chicken dish could use some veggies, so consider ordering some on the side. Overall, flavor of the dishes was quite good and portions generous.
Great food. Outstanding service. The owner goes out of his way to ensure you receive fast, and personable service. You're always greeted with a smile and customer is always right attitude. Great neighbor.
This place is officially my spot. Now im gonna tell you this , the food is amazeing and served steaming hot fresh made to order. Now , parking is bad , good luck and theres a recovery for drug users next door , but who cares thats san francisco for you what can i say. Bottom line its worth it. When i want chinese , this is my go to. Try and opinion yourself dont take my word for it.
I'm glad that it's a great Chinese restaurant only a block and half away...I have ordered most of the chicken dishes and have not had any complaints...the food is fresh and comes to your table hot!
Shanghai China has recently re-opened after being closed for the past five years. They have a smaller menu now, serving Noodles & Dumplings, Appetizers & Pork Buns. The owner tells me they'll expand their menu to include more items later on. So far l've only tried the Beef Chow Mein & the Beef Stew Noodle Soup and everything was just as delicious as it was when I last came here five years ago before they had temporarily closed during the pandemic. Can't wait for them to bring back the Rice Plates to the menu.
So excited the restuarant reopened. Their menu is growing, as they just reopened. ❤️

Prices are great for the amount of food you get. We ordered delivery and it was on time and hot. Noodles were a little thicker than I like and the sesame chicken had alot of breading. All in all, good food.

Good food at an affordable price. The service was fast and friendly. A good choice for the area, if you're in the mood.
Delicious and inexpensive. Clean and fast for lunch. I highly recommend it for nothing-fancy Chinese food. Been coming here now and again for years
Ordered the broccoli beef and tomato beef lunch special. Loads of food for about $12. Each came with ample rice (which I like) and fried egg roll. Food isn't the best but is definitely fine for the price. I'm used to a tangy tomato beef, but this place seems to cook it in a different sauce. Still good though.
Ordered a take out; even at a busy hour, the speed was still fast. The price is okay, on the bit expensive side. Although the service was not that superb, the food is okay. There is a diver range of Chinese food with different styles and dishes. Was hoping to get more serve for the take out, but apparently dinning in would get you more. The inside is definitely nothing too fancy; crowed and kind of untidy.

It's OK, not bad but not great. Good for lunch option but there open to 9:00pm. I go there at night sometimes, service is usually good. It's right off Van Ness @ Mission St. The bus go's right there.
4/5 Salty spicy squid 1/5 mapo tofu 3/5 Yu Hsiang pork 5/5 Szechuan spicy fish Everything was pretty good except for the mapo tofu, which wasn’t spicy and had a soupy brown sauce, and almost no flavor.
I have been eating here for 5 years and the food is basic Chinese -American style. The owner Kenny is really nice and will create a dish of your liking. Place is old school and is not decorated. The interior still has wood paneling and Formica tables. I recommend the Chicken-vegetable dish or the Hong Kong style noodles with seafood. Parking is a real challenge.

Just finished the garlic eggplant dish. How the hell can you mess this up so bad? It was full of grease. While I was eating there a customer brought attention to something on his fried rice dish. They spoke quietly and the waitress took the dish into the back and he walked out without being charged. What the hell did I just eat???

They are not sanitary at all. I had been a customer for a long time but yesterday (11/13/19) I found a long, thick piece of hair cooked into my combination fried rice. I called them back to get a refund and they said I could get a free order but never delivered it. I won’t be returning.
The beef stew noodle was decent, but the pork buns we ordered were poorly done. They were obviously precooked frozen food, and when they served the food, the meat was still frozen while the buns was warm… I guess we were expecting too much from a small random restaurant on the street
Very likely I got food poisoning here. Would avoid
