Opinions de Takara Sushi Alameda
Came in on a whim with a friend and ate our weight in rolls and appetizers. Came back again solo after a rough day to “treat myself”. Both times the food was excellent, the wait staff is super friendly, and the clientele seem to be pretty fun and joyful while dining. Come in if you want oof food from a local spot 💕
The food is amazing, so flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend, was the perfect date night spot. I took the picture when we're about half way done eating so the portions are slightly bigger.
My husband and I are very accustomed to another sushi shop on the other side of town, however even with this small island we get lazy to make that trek. We recently went to Hayashi and it blew the other spot out the water. The shashimi here are thick cuts so tender and buttery. So fresh and I know fresh fish - my dad is a fisherman and I grew up eating seafood out the water that day. But back to Hayashi - it’s so good. My husband and I enjoyed the shashimi sushi combo, the grilled skewers, the donburi bowls. We really didn’t have complaints about any of the food. The ambiance of the restaurant is relaxing, calm, background music but still able to have intimate conversations. Service was amazing and quick. My husband noted he liked the timing that they brought out the food. Honestly great food, great time.
Great food and very friendly staff! Big Tv at. The bar if you want to watch something as well! 10/10 recommend!
• Sushi lovers seeking fresh, varied options — from simple rolls to sashimi. • People looking for a casual but quality Japanese meal without very high prices. • Groups or friends who want a comfortable spot for lunch or dinner, or folks grabbing takeout. • People seeking both traditional Japanese fare and some flexibility (veg options, grilled dishes, rice bowls, etc.).and of course a Kirin to serenade it
Food was so good we ordered beef teriyaki, spicy girl and teriyaki roll. We got a free ice creams( 2 scoops) awesome! I’m making videos on my IG: ladyg.adventures Check it out.
Very amazing service! So quick and very kind service. Love the restaurant and the people. We got icecream at the end which brought smiles to our faces! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!
Me and my family came here got amazing service and the atmosphere was so cozy and beautiful and i REALLY recommend to get the Chicken Yakitory! Super good 10/10
This is one of my girlfriends go to spot. Food is always delicious!
Good food in a nice atmosphere. Arrived here late on a quite Wednesday so the place was empty. Service was fast and the waitress checked our table regularly. Parking is a bit limited due to the restaurant being on a busy corner.
Fantastic and fresh sushi! The California Roll is out of this world, the Tiger Roll is phenomenal, and the BlueFin Tuna roll is so flavorful. 20/10 recommend!
Amazing food! The quality was much higher than expected. Sorry the pictures are post meal . We had also gone through 2 sushi rolls and fried tofu appetizer. All excellent as well.

This sushi is outstanding! They have an extensive menu, quick made-to-order service and REAL wasabi! The bluefin sushi toro roll was amazingly delicious. The specials, uni and kampach, were both so fresh. This is a nice place to eat in downtown Alameda. You can’t tell by the outside, but this place is pretty spacious inside.
Beautifullly decorated inside. The food was delicious and the surface was impeccable. We even enjoyed some ice cream for dessert. We had the dinner combos and there was more than enough food for us so we wound up leaving with extra food which was lovely. Our server was wonderful.
It was our first time at Hayashi, but definitely not the last. We ordered an assortment of nigiri, the spider hand roll, and the Titanic Roll. All the sushi was fresh and delicious, and the service is friendly and attentive. The complimentary ice cream at the end of our meal was a nice treat. Highly recommended.
Hayashi is just a delectable hometown delight. Giving hope to the strong tradition alameda businesses. We had a large group and order a lot off the menu. They were able to accommodate all of our needs. Fresh seafood. Tempura was light and airy, rolls were well constructed. The shrimp skewer Devine. Come in and taste greatness!
First time we came here, the mango sweet potato roll blew us away. Now we can’t stop coming back for it, and everything else we’ve tried on the menu. The waitress is so chill. The music they play is always heat. We’ll be coming here forever.

I love the vibe here, it’s very family style. I feel very cozy here, and appreciated the kindness from the staff. I recommend their nigiri, their fish is so fresh. And lean more towards their fresh sushi than the baked. They also gave us free ice cream at the end of the meal! Also the music choice is a 10/10, had my boyfriend and I dancing haha. Definitely a great place to go for yummy fresh fish!
Came to Hayashi for the first time tonight. The interior is so cute. They did a nice job remodeling the space and making it feel very Japanese. The staff is very nice and pretty attentive. The hostess was also the waitress so it took a little while to get our order in but we appreciated not being rushed. The late hours are phenomenal because you don't feel like you have to hurry up and eat if you're having a little bit later of an evening. The food was presented well. Yhe pineapple tempura was very different but tasty and would've been perfect with the ice cream at the end. The Baby Lobster Roll was a bit too 'fishy' for me but my friend thought it might be the unagi sauce because I like lobster and crab so it didn't make sense why I couldn't eat it. We loved the V8 rolls! They were super good and the Volcano Rolls were also super good. The sauce in the bowl was the star! It was soooo good! The complimentary ice cream at the end was very good. It was light and refreshing. The only thing I am not a fan of is the tip calculator on the bill. It is calculating based the total, not the subtotal, and there's no reason to tip the tax. Other than that, we look forward to returning. Oh and the sparkling sake was yummers! 😍😍😍

Food was good. Service was a bit off. Our waitress was sort of out of it. Ordered a veggie tempura appetizer, they brought us a prawn one. When I notified them, they took the prawn tempura back to the kitchen and maybe threw it away? They should have comped us the the shrimp since they got the order wrong and then brought us the veggie. They brought one entree with the appetizers.
Really wanted to like this place, but i don't see it lasting long unless there's some changes........... in the pricing! Food is overall really good, sashimi fresh and large pieces, and the rolls are decent. But they are pricing themselves out of this market. There equally as good or better Japanese restaurants within blocks that have much more affordable food! For four of us; 1 roll, one unagi donburi, one salmon teriyaki bento one amaebi order and one combination 6 meat skewers (chefs choice, you don't get to pick, and two of the skewers turned out to be gizzards and chicken skin), all came to be $170 and change! Would not go back, not because the food isn't good, because it really is; I just can't afford to go back! Here's an example: on their menu is a "beef rib" for $11.99 (that's really twelve dollars folks!) In my mind, I'm thinking, yum, big juicy meaty beef rib bone! In reality came out 3 small pieces of galbi short rib. You can get 5 times that amount from a Hawaiian BBQ place, and that includes rice, veggies and Mac salad for $18!!! Sorry, wanted to like this restaurant, but got priced out!! ☹️

Came for lunch and had the bento. Food was pretty medium but cheap enough. Had the teriyaki salmon, California, and tempura. Tempura was good and veggies were well cooked but sauce didn’t have much flavor. Rice was overcooked. Roll wasn’t very good and salmon was medium. Probably wouldn’t come again unless I just want smth quick and cheap maybe Tea was very good
This was one of the worst sushi experience from food and service standpoint. I've been to hundreds of sushi restaurants and I can confidently say this is definitely one of the worst. I had to ask server three times if we could order our food. The server said okay and never came back. When he walked pass by, we ask again and he says okay and he never showed up again. He seems off or something. We finally got a hold of someone else and got our orders in after multiple attempts. Also food is not good and wayyy too overpriced. Raw sashimi based rolls are not bad but don't order crab shell based or unagi or scallop based rolls. It was way too much rice and no fish. Way too saucy and that was absolutely overpriced and distasteful. I would never come back here. Also forgot to mention it smells bad in there.

Not what I expected: prices are very very high for this place. To make a comparison, we are a family of 6 and we spent less at Benihana in San Francisco than this place which is nothing like Benihana. To match the decor and atmosphere, the menus prices need to drop by $10 to $15 dollars. The place was very empty and I felt the menue prices did not match the atmosphere, decor, menu selection, or location. They automatically charge 18% for 6 or more people. The owners are super friendly and nice people.
Dirty high chair. Awful service. The female server threw a bottle of wipes onto our table without offering to properly clean the dirty chair and surfaces. Not to mention, those wipes may contain harmful chemicals that are unsafe for children and for use on food-contact surfaces. This clearly shows a lack of care for cleanliness and food safety. The food was not good. The noodle soup tasted like plain noodles in water. The shrimp tempura tasted like frozen, pre-packaged food from Walmart and didn’t even come with the proper dipping sauce — just regular soy sauce. The skewers were disgusting and severely overpriced. The complimentary ice cream was disappointing as well — only two scoops in one bowl, even though our table had more than two guests. The only positive was that the restaurant was bright, spacious, quiet, and there was no wait. However, the fact that a restaurant is nearly empty during peak weekend dining hours speaks for itself.
