Opinions de TaMee Thai Alameda
Unpretentious but delicious. I had the red curry & rice, spring rolls, and salad Salad was fresh, spring rolls fried golden brown and they were very accommodating in requesting no tofu for my veg curry. The brought condiments to the table so I could dial in my desired “hotness”.
Best Thai restaurant I know of in the Bay Area. The food here is always cooked perfectly and just how you request it. I love the drunken noodles, veggie dishes and green curry - but everything is good (: My bf really appreciated that they made his noodles 3x spicy just they way he likes it, most places never make food to meet his spice expectations so thank you and good job to the chef.
This is a low buck gem! I got the $12.95 dinner special with the wonton, the chicken and the basil rice.. The food was tasty and a bit spicy which was a nice touch. I wasn't horribly hungry and the plate that came out surprised me, it was enormous. I would have never finished an entire plate by myself but luckily I split it with my daughter and it was perfectly sized.
Some of the best pad thai I've had on the island. Very flavorful. Staff was nice. Atmosphere was cozy. A great neighborhood joint. 5/5.
This place is amazing. The food is tasty and fresh, not to mention the value and how quick the service was. The staff super attentive and friendly, this is a must try. The combo plate I had included an appetizer and a drink, such a great place honestly and cozy!
Small seating area. Three dine-in dinners; Pad Thai with shrimp and fresh roll, Spicy Eggplant with Duck, spring rolls and Jasmine rice and Masaman Curry with shrimp and fried wonton with chicken. All were very good. Portions were generous. Price was reasonable. Service was efficient and pleasant. They seemed to have a busy take out business, too. Will return for dine-in or take out.
I found this hidden little gem the other day I never knew existed while I was delivering an instacart order the area. I love Thai food and I was so happy to find this place! It's only about a half a mile away from my daughters school so I'll definitely be back! I was very happy with the service and what I ordered. They were pretty generous with their portions too. The prices are also reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
They have really good catfish!
The staff was very warm and inviting. I ordered the Green Curry with chicken. It came with a small side salad and rice to go along with the curry. The portions were grand for such a reasonable price. The Green Curry was comforting and full of flavor, not overly spicy and the veggies still had a nice snap to them. Overall lovely experience on a Friday afternoon.
I eat here about 2 times a month. I eat in the restaurant with my buddy, and I try something new each time. I love this place! I highly recommend eating here or ordering out.
Hands down, the best Thai in Alameda, and has been for years. If I have had a good day, this is my go-to place. Service is fantastic , the prices can't be beat. If I've had a bad day, this is my go-to place. The fact that I can order online and it is on my way home from the ferry terminal is dangerous.
The service was excellent. Our server was so kind, friendly, and attentive. And the food was delicious! I had the Tom Kha soup- the biggest bowl of soup I have ever had! Delicious, warm, and filling. I will be back.
Definitely my go-to for tasty Thai food in the area. I usually order take-out as I live nearby, always huge and piping hot portions, never missed any item. Great, genuine cooking and always with a smile. Highly recommend.
This is my new favorite Thai place. The curries are amazing. Delicious eggplant as are the egg rolls. Service is fast and efficient. Atmosphere is very casual but I come for the food.
Very good . I had a combo. Thai tea was very good. Bathroom was odd. I had to go around the building with a key. But food was excellent. Excellent Spring roll. Skip the fish cake.
This is a great little place for Thai food. The combo selection is a great deal for the price.
Always a great meal at Monkey Thai! Small garden salad lightly dressed with peanut dressing. The Mango fried rice is perfectly fried with chunks of mango. Not greasy and flavorful jumbo shrimp with tail. My sis and her BF ordered the won ton soup no noodles and requested extra veggies...super chunky! The broth was delicious and seasoned to perfection! I ordered the combo which includes choice of appetizer plus entree and choice of white or brown rice plus a drink. Thai Tea was good. And Green curry is the best!! Service is great. Overall great experience. Mmmmm...the best green curry. :-)
Ordered to-go. Always the main street Monkey Thai won't fail you for your expectations and money. Green curry is super good. I love it.
Came in for lunch and it was fantastic. Food was delicious, probably the best pad sew ew I've had, I would change nothing about it! Our server was very nice and attentive, he kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything. He also gave us a small bowl of salad before we ordered, the dressing was really tasty. I also ordered a Jumbo Thai Tea, and it did not disappoint: it was HUGE, tasty and not too sweet! It's a small resturant, but it had a great chill vibe and with the music, it was pretty relaxing. Overall, everything was a 10/10, will definitely come back and try more items on the menu!
Always five-star food and service! Many great menu items to try, but somehow I always wind up going back for the Pad Thai with shrimp, and sweet iced coffee. Great place for dining in or takeout!
The server was really friendly and attentive. Many options for vegetarians and vegans. I had a combo platter with eggplant and tofu as my entrée with a fresh roll as my app, served with brown rice. I also had an iced tea and a Singha, it was $20.
This is a very small place that can easily be overlooked but it is sooo good! We got huge portions and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth stopping by.

This will be our standard spot now. Had the chicken satay, tofu pad Thai, Thai Ice Tea for take-out. Food was amazing. Pad Thai was supposed to last two days, but slammed it one shot because it was so good. Satay was spot-on chicken so tender. The peanut sauce and cucumber chutney that came with the satay were delicious. Thai Ice Tea is a champion here. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Nothing fancy, but if you need some quiet-time it will be found here. A great stop-in spot if you need some food after the brewery's.
Still coming back here for the Chicken Satay and Rice. Still amazing; our daughter is in love with both. Added the steamed veges this time. Every restaurant should be getting training from here on how to steam veges. They are perfect for tossing back on the pan with your favorite seasonings and sesame oil. Never doubt the reliability of their menu and they are always super friendly. Alameda is lucky to have this small mom and pop place.
Love this place. Order from here all the time. I usually get the chicken yellow curry and gyoza. People sleep on this place honestly. Not sure why people don’t pack the place. (Location maybe?) super nice to go to sit down at. Super nice staff. Quick and accommodating service too. Food is absolutely fabulous. I usually order via DoorDash. When i did DoorDash and Uber Eats myself though i was always picking food up for people here! And there were usually multiple delivery drivers waiting too. (Means the place is good! 😂) Always made exactly how they describe it yet still tastes better somehow! 😂 definitely suggest! Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food too!

Always good and they’re good handling my sesame allergy. Super fast service and very nice people. Everything I’ve tried is yummy! Good balance of spicy and not spicy dishes on the menu, and the flavors are all distinct and complement each other. I do delivery or pick up.
We loved it! We were served quickly, efficiently, and ppolitely! The food was excellent. The Pumpkin Curry, while a little spicier than I can handle, was delicious! The Chicken Satay and calamari were excellent! The calamari is not fried the usual light batter way, but it was very good!
Good sized portions, pleasant atmosphere. June 2025: The new ownership has brought a few changes to the old Monkey Thai location. Even though Tamee Thai sell the basic same dishs as Monkey Thai, the flavour isn't the same. These dishes are now bland compared to what you once got from here. Not to sure how long this will be my goto Thai place for lunch. I may have try the other Monkey Thai in Alameda.
We bumped into the place while traveling back from San Francisco. They have really varied menu with a lot of items. I am vegan and they had good vegan options with a lot of curries. The taste was quite decent. Would definitely recommend pumpkin curry.
Finally tried it out - I’m a big Thai curry buff, it’s my favorite food. I got massaman with tofu and veggies, and I’m really happy with the contents (lots of good veggies and tofu, good portion, comes with rice on the side) but I was disappointed in the curry flavoring. It didn’t taste like other massamans I’ve had, seemed like there wasn’t enough creamy peanut flavor or just lack of general flavor maybe. Maybe it was missing fish sauce... not sure. I will try again with a different curry and update my review.
Friendly and quick service through EatStreet online order. They called me right away when they were out of a dish I had ordered. The basil chicken was pretty good, the penang curry was okay (maybe it could be more spicy? it was too sweet and creamy rather than vibrant) but the sticky banana rice steamed in banana leaf was so good! Definitely a unique and delicious dessert.
The best seafood salad in town. And the summer roll was large and quite tasty too. But the prices are higher than average. You definitely Pay a bit more for a bit more food. Dining Room is small and relatively clean. Don't be put off by The ugly 1960s looking strip mall. And the location is not optimum either - - outside the old Nas Alameda navy base. But, if you eat here you won't leave disappointed.
I always order the lunch special for $15.95 you can’t get a deal like that anywhere (drink, salad, small app and entree). I always order Pad Se Eww with Tofu, it’s my favorite. The Pad Ke Maow is yummy too if like spicy! The service is hit and miss! They only have one person serving/ taking orders (dining & take out). I’ve been in where people have finished and left but server hasn’t cleaned the table even when I’m checking out. I was there the other night and it was quick and done in 35 mins; last week I went with my kids waited 3 mins to be seated and after 8 mins of sitting down we left. Sad because it’s so yummy but waiting too long and they only had 3 tables and a couple ordering take out plus phones ringing. This area is expanding fast and it’s only going to get busier. I would like to See them thrive and highly recommend maybe a self ordering or QR code. Or have another second person work during the rush. Def come! As well I would po refer this place than the one located at South Shore (been twice, food was blah but service was good!)
The food and Thai tea were really good. Authentic, Thai-owned. Clean and nice interior. Quick service. Combo with appetizer, main, drink and salad was pretty good deal. Closed 3-4pm.
The food is consistently delicious. They are super quick & efficient! Our faves... Crab Fried Rice & Pad Sew!
Great neighborhood family place. Fried banana and coconut ice cream, pad thai, tom kha soup, grilled chicken, fried rice.

This place is still one of my favorite restaurant in Alameda even if one of our dishes was very spicy. I asked if they can make the eggplant dish to have no spices at all. The waitress said “Yes we can”. The dish was very spicy and I told the manager. She responded to order mild next time. Go figure! I’ll just stick to BBQ chicken next time. Maybe they really cannot make it non-spicy and just want to take orders. BBQ chicken and crispy noodles were very good as usual. I did not take a photo of the eggplant dish as it was upsetting.
Friendly staff. Food was okay. Came here during happy hour and was surprised that we had to pay $5 for a can of beer. Happy hour appetizers were a great deal

Quiet place. Food is good. Beware they changed the names it used to be Monkey Thai. Also they add an 18% service to the bill. My boyfriend and I came just the two of us and didn't notice the charge til after we had paid and tipped.

The service is horrid! Or at least it was on my particular visit. Wonderful food and nice drinks but the service was definitely lacking! The server never came back to our table after taking our order! She was completely inattentive. It was so bad that she even forgot who we were. When I went to ask for the check, she didn’t know who I was or where I was sitting!! The food was wonderful but the service really left me annoyed! Yet I still tipped! Stupid me I guess!
Not great, especially not for the price. Tastes like it should be low price thai food. We tried a LOT of things. The only things we all enjoyed was the squid salad, thai sausage and papaya salad. All the entrees were...meh. Most of them were plated well and looked nice, but waste wasn't so hot. Would rate 2.5 stars out of 5. Would not recommend or return.
I wanted to like this because they wore masks and were friendly but the food was downright terrible and not cheap. The noodles had no flavor and no spice, the spring roll was basically lettuce and wasn’t made well. My food was so bad, I wound up throwing it away which is saying something with my appetite.
Ordered the vegetarian pad thai, more veggies than noodles. They barely put any sauce on it and unfortunately the whole dish made me feel ill. No way they're charging $18 a plate for pad thai. Used to come this place for years, I don't know what they're doing now.

Damn I really wanted to leave a great review but I can't. My order was garbage, I just tossed it. Greasy, dirty, dry, burnt taste. Pad see ew How come all the thai food in cali is garbage?
Ugh, completely tasteless. I love Thai food and always have no problem finishing my meal. I couldn't even finish this. I tried putting soy sauce on just to taste something. We got the red curry with vegetables and the pad see ew with chicken. Vegetable rolls were soggy. Rice was dry and tasteless. My husband had a dark curly hair in his pad see ew (neither of us have curly hair). The Tom Yum soup was the only edible thing. Was surprised because the Monkey Thai at South Shore has always been so good.
The food here was pretty mediocre and a bit overpriced. Also, our particular waitress on that night was a bit on the cold, rude side. Felt like I wasted hard-earned money.
we checked Google Maps for hours; opens back up at 4pm on Saturday. So, we waited in their parking lot for 15-20 minutes. At 4:03pm, we stood in front of their door to be let in for dinner a early dinner. Finally, someone from inside let us know they are NOT open for this evening. But, NO sign stating they're CLOSED!!! We are NOT going back; they don't know good customer service or how to operate their business. (NO Sign)!!!!!!
I ordered take away. I found a bug in my salad and I grabbed it and dumped the whole salad in an open bag of Hawaiian rolls. Didn’t want any other bugs to start crawling out. I had to move swiftly. Definitely tip. I didn’t and the salad had a big in it and was kind of brown. I won’t be returning unfortunately.
