So tasty, went for lunch- got the jugo de mora and bandeja paisa! Empanadas were bomb!
Entraña andina is DELICIOUS!!! make sure to get it medium. Also tostones al coco is AMAZING
Traditional dishes are plentiful and delicious! The waitress was attentive.
Great place, good music, nice people, and amazing food.
So good. Went here on Thanksgiving and had a feast. This place is usually packed around dinner time because it's affordable and delicious. Nice place for a date.
The food is great! their lunch specials are a steal! Their soups are HUGE and delicious!
Good food for fair prices. The place is small so it can get over crowded. But the services and cooking are really good
Bang for the buck! Great soups and service in an open interior, excellent street frontage, so the feeling is spacious. Love the campesino and mondongo.
Incredible steakhouse with excellent everything- meats, rice and beans, maduros, arepas. The steak was so good there was absolutely no need for sauce.
My favorite restaurant in Jackson Heights...food is excellent, steaks and the red beans are magnificent...Great service.
Delicious Colombian food. I had chuleta empanizada (breaded pork) and it was scrumptious. Highly recommend this place
The skirt steak is one of my favorites. The staff is always pleasant and welcoming.
Best place if you want a great steak house. Speciality steaks!!! Great Colombian menu!!! Coming to this place every weekend for 13 years!!!
The best fried chicken I've ever had...everything is delicious at this place
Still the best place for Colombian food! Everything was super delicious great portion and wonderful staff!!

Love this place so much. Especially the sangria. Everyone friendly food is DELICIOUS
The food is always delicious and good service ..😁😁
Classical restaurant, very cozy and relax, with an authentic Colombian flavor. Delicious.
Went here on spur of the moment with friends and did not regret it. Great prices and great food.
One of my top options when considering authentic Colombian cuisine in Jackson Heights, the food ambience makes me feel like I’m back home
Best service. The food is delicious. The sangria is delicious. The staff treat you like a family member. My family and I have been eating here for 12 years already and will continue to do so.
Love this place. My other friend also loves this place. They get it right every single time. I've ordered a few dishes here already. My friend orders the same thing everytime - the breaded fish fillet, with tostones rice and she orders beans extra. We also get an order or morcilla everytime, totally recommend it. I've had the chicken with mushrooms. Also the entraña with creamy sauce. Entraña grilled with rice and beans. All of it amazing. Highly highly recommend coming here.
The food is always good here. The entraña Steak with corn and shrimp is absolutely amazing! I sincerely don't know the exact name of the plate but wow it's the best!!! Enjoy your meal you'll love it
Best Colombian restaurant ever. Love my skirt steak with shrimp on top, and green plantain with guacamole. And of course with a glass of Sangria. Owners and Staff are super friendly.
Great portions at reasonable prices. Quick service and large selection of interesting plates. Be ready to eat when you come here. You will leave stuffed and highly satisfied.
Delicious. Omfg ordered some churrasco for take out. The packaging was incredible lol so neat and organized. The counter girl was so sweet and hospitable. Thank you so much, I was really craving an authentic juicy steak and they totally exceeded expectations! Juicy and THAT SEASONING 🤤🤤🤤🤤 We devoured it so sorry for no pics LOL
This. Is. The. Best. Restaurant. Ever. Period. I'm not of any Hispanic dissent but we have friends who we took there and they were impressed. I would go as so far as finding out how expensive the rent is in the apartments above. That's how good this food is. I always order an entraña and it's served on the pan it was cooked on and with yuca frita and rice & beans and maduros. Polite and intelligent staff and impecable Spanish and fine English. Would recommend to anyone within as far as 50 miles
Delicious food--i particularly love the skirt steak. Wonderful staff. Always a pleasure for my family and me to eat here. We have been coming for years!
My fiance's family is obsessed with this place. I went there once about a month ago and I can see why. I ordered poor mans platter and and was brought a huge plate of delicious and aromous food. Definately a target for my repeat business.
Great colombian food. The dishes are not over priced and if u order the super bandeja paisa, two people can eat from it.. their skirt steak is unbelievable. love it and I hope they continue just like they are!!
La Boina Roja is a nice cozy place, with excellent, friendly service. The kitchen is Colombian. They serve a lot of different flavors of steaks, that are cut at the butcher's next door (the same owner). They have soups daily, that are muy deliciosas.
Pleasantly surprised! Went here not knowing what to expect. Steak was better than anticipated. Hospitality and service was also great! Highly recommended. Get the Argentinian steak.
Amazing place, I love the food and servers are really attentive. I go there maybe twice a month. Great food ask for the “super bandeja Boina”
Everything is delicious! We have no idea who the chef is, but I can only imagine it's someone's abuelita. The filet mignon is amazing, the fish is always cooked to perfection. I had sobrebarriga which is considered a traditional Colombian dish. I can't translate it any better than "underbelly" beef stewed with potatoes, not cubed. It's enough for 2 and I took plenty home. The typical Colombian dish that everyone should try at least once is a "bandeja" which Boina Roja serves in their own name. The one with egg is what is recommended if you like to mix some yolk over white rice. Another dish, the chicken breast, is usually pounded flat seasoned and breaded. The one with mushrooms has an interesting flavor but is only recommended if you are willing to eat it with Latin spices. I recommend that any group over 4 try the "tostones al coco" as the appetizer. It's a seafood medley in a sweet and savory very creamy dip. It's rich and served with fried green plantain. It's the reason I go to Boina Roja! For drinks they always have fresh fruit juices and I skip those to go for piña colada instead. They serve both virgin and alcoholic beverages so if you're out and ready to spend a chunk of change this place beats the bit of competition nearby.
This place is excellent, I have been going to this restaurant for the past 25 years. And it has always had the same great service and food quality.
I've been coming to this place for 25 years. It's consistently great! Best sangria, best steaks!
My second time trying this place, food portions are big, we ordered; one appetizer and one entry, it was enough for two. About $80 to $100 per person. Steak tastes fresh though ordered temperature both times was not accurate. I prefere medium well but we got a medium rare, however I am not picky, it still was delicious, maybe a tad more seasoning would hit the spot. SERVICE: Ok FOOD: A solid 4 stars, Tastes fresh, shrimps where cooked PERFECTLY, I am not a big fan of tostones (flied plantain flats,) HOWEVER their tostones, I could eat all day. They are THE BEST tostones i have ever tried. They Guacamole is really good, and goes perfect with the tostones. ATMOSPHERE: Relaxed, welcoming, some light music might go very well.
My lunch at La Boina Roja was by far the best Colombian experience I’ve had so far, this Filet Mignon accompanied by the well-presented mashed potatoes was spectacular! The originality and the flavor, as well as the service by none other than the head waitress Maria Salazar. I ordered my meat well done, and as expected was pleased! I am definitely coming back here to eat a thousand times!
The service here is amazing. I came with my family on a Friday night before closing time and they attended me so good ! The waitress was very patient she recommended us food . I got a cup of wine and a couple of beers . The food is A1 ! I definitely recommend this place it’s a hidden gem !
I ate there with my girlfriend on Saturday night and we ordered the appetizer of fried calamari plus a “pechuga asada” and a “filet mignon”. Oh my goodness gracious; my girlfriend said it tasted really good and for me, every bite that I took from my meat, along with the sauce and the mushrooms, tasted like literal heaven.
Went here for aunts birthday with the family. Food is delicious and they have a great menu of different items. The portions are big and prices are good.
My favorite Colombian restaurant for about 15 years. Owner is humble and talented. Proud server of the community that takes pride in more than just what the customers eat. Service is impeccable and welcoming. Trust me, you won't regret coming here. I can almost promise you you'll come back, too.
Always an enjoyable experience! The lunch specials are a staple must try! The food is always great here. Bren coming here for the last 8 years and never disappointed. Come here hungry and enjoy these great portions of food. The prices are great for the portions! For lunch specials get there early enough or it may be pot scrapings. Menu online! Great for families or dining alone. Staff is friendly and tentative.
I felt very welcomed in this restaurant. Our waitress was so nice to us. When we noticed a lady next to us eating soup and we asked what kind it was, not only did our waitress describe it, she offered us a free sample. Now the food: it is incredible! I kept debating what to order because I'd settle on one thing, and yet people near me would get their order and it smelled so good I was tempted to change it. But I didn't and was glad I didn't, because the meal was awesome. I would definitely return.
Quick Columbian eats and great Sangria. Diner vibe with good service and good home cooked food.
After you get parking, you are in for a good treat and the service is good. You'll find good steaks as you like it.
Good place to eat with friends, great service excellent food.
Good food , little salty the meat , the waitress was nice ,and very professional, just one little thing, I think they need to clean the walls.
I have visited this place since 2006. The food is great! I feel the atmosphere has changed a bit.
Really good food but the place is small. Maybe that's what makes it so good. 🙂
La Bonita Roja has always been my go-to place for a nice affordable steak. Prices have risen a tiny bit ($28 for a Churrasco, compared to $23 three years ago). As expected, they gave us a nice hearty salad to start and delivered the perfectly-cooked steak on a sizzling plate. Unfortunately, the steaks were tough all around the table. They were cooked to the right temperature, but they weren't as tender as we'd hoped for. Portions of rice and beans were smaller than before; the platanos maduros were super ripe and delicious. Overall, it's still a decent place to visit and their table service is wonderful.
Good Colombian food, good. Customer service, good price. The stablishment has been there more than 20 years so it has a reputation. They have to pay attention on the quality of the juices that they make.
Very good food and quite reasonably priced. You can get a chicken dish for under $15 and it will com with salad rice and beans and your choice of side. I particularly like the plaintains or yucca for the sides. If you want to spend more you can get a delicious steak for about $20.
Been going here for years! Love the food and the staff is great... only downside it’s so small and cramped. I wish they would get a bigger place !!
This restaurant was very good, but it is no longer the same
I will say i went to this place from a recommendation and it was a bit dissapointing. The sangria was not the best tasting. The food sadly no pinto beans but red kidney beans and i ordered a meal similar to a surf and turf with fillet mignon and lobster and was very dissapointed because it was under their specialties the Lobster had no flavor and i asked if they could set aside the sauce for the steak and instead they marinated it and put mushrooms on top of it luckily the sauce was not bad tasting but they should notate in the menu that it has mushrooms and give some sort of sauce for the lobster to give it some flavor. 42 for a plate and cannot season a lobster correctly or add garlic sauce aside. And finallt they add tip to total 20% should not be legal.
I thought it would be better being that it has a butcher shop right next to it. Which they also own. Pricey for colombian food with so many options next to it. I can see they are pushing to be more upscale. The biggest let down to me were the beans. The beans are a staple in colombian food to mess that up. Service was great never empty cup always attentive.
I've visited this restaurant many times and never had any issues. Love the food prior to this visit. However this most recent time, there were many things that went wrong and I probably won't return. -When you first walk in, there is an off-putting smell. The tables are sticky and feel unclean. -The red beans had no salt and lacked flavor. -I had to continuously ask the waitress to refill my water. Very inattentive. -It was cash only which was not disclosed until the check was brought out. This was new as they took credit card before. There is no apparent signage that states this and we weren't told anything when we entered the restaurant. -They automatically added 20% tip to the check without my knowledge. This is unacceptable as it should be at my discretion how much someone is tipped especially if the service was mediocre. -This is what shocked me the most...they charged us for to-go containers. I've never been to a restaurant in NYC or anywhere in the world where you have to pay for your To-go containers especially after spending over $70 on a meal. There are many things the owner needs to consider as the economy is tough right now and people are being selective where they go to eat. And considering this restaurant is in a neighborhood with many choices of Colombian restaurants to last me the entire year, it's unfortunate that I'll have to look elsewhere for better service, food and a place that doesn't sneakily charge you different fees.
Today was my 2nd time going to la boina roja, i went with my gf 2 years ago and i recall never asking for a refill on water. we had to ask twice, the waiters where on their phones and were not attentive. And We weren’t told it was cash only nor was there a post about it. The beans could use more salt and seasoning. My beans that i personally make are 10 times better. I don’t appreciate having to also be charged for a to go containers. And my tip was also charged. I should be allowed to decide the tip i give you. Change those tables seriously! They are sticky and shaky. It will be a while before i go back again
Ate here on Valentine’s Day after not having eaten here for more than 5 months and was very disappointed. Had the chicken with mushroom sauce and the chicken was dried out, the rice with beans were mushy and the fried plantains were overcooked. And worst of all, when I was handed the menu, I noticed that the prices were all $2 more than the menu on the window! When I complained to the waitress , she stated that the prices had just been raised 5 minutes prior to the start of her shift at 5 pm - I got there around 5:10 pm. And then she proceeded to take down the menu from the window! To their credit, the owner let me have the lower price. But still - I should not have had to argue for it! And the service was not especially good either - I waited with my coat on for 10 minutes before the waitress finally arrived with the check. Maybe the previous good ratings have gone to their heads? Not sure if I will return to try again.
The food is not like other Colombian rest
5 years ago I had dinner at this restaurant and I had a bad experience about service and. very bad experience about the food, I ordered Mondongo soup but the preparation of the "Mondongo" soup had a red sauce that taste like ketchup, What? I am from Colombia and I know how it looks and how it tastes, At that time I swore no to comeback because I was wasting my time, my money, getting mad claiming that I did not get what I ordered. Today April 8 /22, I decided to come back to eat but it haven't change , it's so sad! I order "entraña" is meat, but it was very diferent meat , we talk with the waitress about it and she said itwas "entraña" for them, in spite of that, the portion was very small for the price $32 and served with one small bake potato, rice and beans. It was served in a very small tray, the portion looked like a child's portion. Terrible !! I will never comeback and I won't recommend that restaurant, the prices are very high for the food and service.
Meat department : they sell stale chicken, the smell is so bad. Restaurant : the salads are tasty, the service bad
Normally a great experience and love their lunch special however this is the second time I order the lunch special and the same waitress somehow understood I only wanted rice. Previously she understood I wanted rice with pasta on the side, and charged me +$20 for what should be an under $15 lunch. Very frustrating since normally there's a salad, arepa, and occasionally additional protein.
Service very poor. Waiter rude. Disrespectful. Not coming back. Dishes dirty. She was cleaning a dirty dish wit her nail. Bad service
Called to make take out order the lady just hung up in midde of order. Very unethical. Didnt bother giving them the business !! Not to mention that workers are english ilitrate .
Bad service , I did no even finish my food And the waitress just went to the table without asking If we were finished , she throw the bill on the table in order for us to leave the Restorant How rude !!!!! I never going in to this place
Probably the worst meal I ever had in my life, my brother was quite displeased as well. Tasteless food that was tough to chew, poor service as well.
Horrible to say the least, ordered a Lechona for Christmas drove from NJ and we had to throw out all of it. Was the worst food I've ever had.
Came to have dinner with my family tonight. Ordered a créame of mushrooms soup which I instantly realized had been made with expired milk because the smell was so repugnant and strong. I returned it and patiently waited for the garlic sauce salmon I had order which was NOT salmon. It did not smell or taste like salmon and was filled with spine bones. Do not recommend it at all. Not only was this a horrible dining experience but the owner denied all of this on our way out and was disrespectful in front of everyone in his own restaurant! I repeat DO NOT COME HERE! Save your money, your time and your taste buds
If there was an ever a place where one should stay away from it’s this this awful place. I called and asked if they required a reservation and they said no. We got there and sure enough, an incident was occurring. We didn’t heed the sign. Well an hour and a half later and still no food. This place should close down and owner dedicate himself to just being a butcher shop, he and his horrible staff have no business in the restaurant business. RIP.
I was told by a few of my friends that this restaurant has very tasty food, NOT. I took my wife and Daughter. I ordered number (572) Chicken in wine sauce, what I got was grilled chicken cutlet and sauce over it.I thought it looked and tasted like A1 steak sauce. I was right. I have eaten in about more than a dozen restaurants around this neighborhood and in NYC nothing like this. My wife and I will not be coming back.
never getting food from here again, doesn’t even taste like steak, i ordered medium rare aswell and got well done, smh, :( AND !! the menu says $30 and they charged my man 40.... no way tax is 1/3 of the price loooooollllllll. i never leave reviews but i just had to w this one. next time i’m waiting for applebees to open.
