Opinions de Lionheart Pub Albany
Popcorn is the only food they have or you need! Always a good beer selection.
Many great beers on tap, free popcorn, dart boards and pool table in the back, a few tables outside. Good happy hour special on many of the drafts.
LARISSA!!! Amazing info! Personality! Area! Everything; be thankful for people like her! She supports her community! ...and all business owners in the area!
Great place to go to just chill n have a few drinks n play pool or darts... Bartenders, barbacks, and security staff r the best!
Great pub with a wide beer selection. If you like playing darts, this is your spot in Albany
The Monday dart league is a ton of fun! There is a pretty good beer selection and the Monday bartender, Jimmy, is fantastic!
Good place to gather with friends and family. Upstairs and downstairs lounge with pool table and dirt games. Good Vibe in there.
More of a younger crowd but the bartenders were fantastic and the selection of beer was amazing
Center Square's favorite neighborhood pub. The new upstairs brewery is beautiful and adds a bit of high end charm!
Beautiful building! Brew their own beers there too! Very popular place!
Awesome atmosphere, there are plenty of dart boards for everyone and a pool table. I definitely had fun everyime I go and they stay open till very late
Super cute place—larger interior and more floors than I expected. Enjoyed myself a pint and some darts and made for a very comfortable couple of hours spent.
Unapologetically a dive bar, but a great place for beer or darts. The only place in Albany that I know of with regular *steel-tip* darts competitions, but you can always grab a board and some darts as long as it's not one of their league nights.
A bar that works for almost any person. An atmosphere that's typical for a chill bar (darts, pool, karaoke each week), and always has a solid selection of craft beers. Beware (or embrace) the college crowd at certain times!
I drive for Uber, I do ride share amd Uber eats. I have never been to Lionheart Pub but the riders I pick up from there all report having a great time. From the great staff to the chillin' customers this place always seems to have a great vibe!!
Outstanding work environment, Great food, Drinks are amazing, were can you get a burger for 5 Bucks, and enjoy your self surrounded by a bunch of great people. Come by have a smash burger and a couple of beers see for your self.
Exactly the bar you're looking for when you're just going out for a pint or two. Good beer variety with lots of local on tap, with a few from further away. Very close to Savoy and Pint Sized on Lark, with lots of restaurant options nearby as well.
Huge selection of beer on draft and awesome bartenders. Pool table and real steel tip darts! No food, but there are a few places near by that offer takeout.
Love Alex, I had such a bad week! She definitely made the weekend better, had an amazing aura, would definitely come back for her, ask for her when you come 💗
A great place to come with friends during the week to hang out and it's usually packed on the weekend with great music. Large beer and liquor selection, with quick bar service.
Mark the bartender knows his stuff + is friendly + personable. Good music + cool relaxed interior + decent prices w good pours makes for fun visits
Low prices, great for a group hang or a fun night out with your friends depending on the time of day you go. Good drinks, fast and attentive service with a great location just kitty corner from the park.
Great selection of beers and plenty of room now that they have the upstairs. They are now brewing their own beer too! Still no food really, but I hear it's coming. If you are a dart player you have to stop in and play. You get to use real darts!! Pool tables available too.
This place is very special for me for numerous reasons. Plenty of memories. Staff are great. The beer selection is awesome. I love coming here. The aesthetics are wonderful. I'd highly recommend
Had a super experience here on a quiet, snowy, early Saturday afternoon. Love what they have done to the interior of the place, had some good beer and great conversation with the proprietors. Will definitely come back again, and I am sorry it took so long to rediscover this place!!
Did nt eat here so did nt give any stars for that. Very relaxing atmosphere. Great selection of beers , something for everyone, good Guinness. Spent a happy few hours playing darts and enjoying a couple of pints. A good pub
This may be the best bar in Albany, They always carry a great selection of beers. The staff is the best. They even have Touchtunes jukebox, Weekday dart leagues, Karaoke, sponsor the local kickball league, and are the place to be on the weekends. I cannot speak highly enough of this place.
High energy. Sports bar / club type feel.
In town for a couple days. This is a really cool spot. the Jalepno Saison was an adventure!
Had a great time. The staff was very friendly. They had a fun band playing and the pool table was good too.
An awesome selection of beers. Starting from a bottled Bud Light to a draft 10% Belgian Ale, they have everything. It is really worth a visit. The only negative point is that there is no kitchen /food offered.
Man, this bar was absolutely dope! I swung by on a Friday night and ended up coming back for St. Patrick's Day—talk about dope vibes! The venue itself is beautiful, with a cozy ambiance that just draws you in. But let's talk about the drinks—cheap and delicious! Lionheart Pub and Brewery is like a craft oasis in the heart of midtown. With an impressive selection of 45 draft beers on tap, including their own brews, and a diverse liquor selection, there's something for everyone. And the atmosphere? It's unbeatable. Whether you're engaging in some friendly competition with dart boards and a pool table or just enjoying fireside bliss, there's no shortage of fun here. Plus, the location couldn't be better. Easy access and comfortable spaces make Lionheart Pub and Brewery the perfect spot to kick back and relax with friends. And here's a bonus—the limited menu encourages patrons to bring in outdoor food from the surrounding cafes, adding even more flavor to the experience. Overall, Lionheart Pub and Brewery is a must-visit in midtown. Whether you're here for the craft beer, the games, or the fireside chats, you're guaranteed to have a blast. Cheers to an unforgettable experience! 🍻🔥
Good beer selection, not the best when it's mobbed by college students, but that applies to most bars in this area. Separate room for darts/pool/hanging out is nice.
Typical sports bar. Great staff. friendly crowd. Good place to go on off days for darts or pool.
Genuinely a cool vibe where I can sit down grab a drink a socialize! It has some food options and what bar wouldn't be complete without darts!
I like this bar. Very spacious. Clean bathroom. Pool and darts. Upstairs area. Lots of cute girls 😏
Great bartenders and lots of billiards! Great place to go if your a college kid
So the staff was quite nice, I found the ambience to be a little bit off for my taste. So where is it would not be my normal cup of tea for the people that enjoy this environment it would be superior
Best dive bar in Albany. I mean “dive bar” in the best sense of the word! Cheap beer, pool, darts, karaoke!
Good beer selection and bar area. Very popular place. Free popcorn is awesome.
Good beer selection and layout. Darts and pool area in the back is a gem reattach place for some real competition.
Lionheart has an extensive selection of craft beers, sidewalk seating in the summer and a fairly eclectic mix of customers. Great place for people watching. Just sit back and relax with the favorite brew.
Super busy most of the time, bar tenders busy but will greet ya nicely and get your drink to you as quick as possible. Security is a bit dicka and will seem to arbitrary close way before closing but whatever.
Who plays nice and mellow not a lot of college kids well if so the college kids that I do run into when I'm in there they act pretty much decent not too loud or acting a fool I enjoy myself when I go here because right after I leave I go right across the street to the pizza spot
Best bar in Albany. Great beer selection, great bartenders. Patio out front. Gets a little crowded during school season around 11:00. Still great though.
Great atmosphere w/ fairly priced top shelf drinks. My wife complimented the Ice Tea
If you want to hang with locals this is a great place to go. Bartender was awesome!!! My only knock on this place is no food, but plenty of places to eat close by.
College-type bar with good beer and many young adults. Darts, and pool. The floor is so sticky you'll need to put effort into picking your feet up.
Since Mahar's closed, currently best beer bar in Capital District. Large, fine selection on tap from imported wheat to NYS's finest to best west coast hoppy favs to darks with plenty of powerful, big beers - can't go wrong. Yes, there are others with many fine taps - the Ruck in Troy, City Beer Hall downtown Albany, new World of Beer at the mall and new Beer Belly on New Scotland. There's a beer explosion in this sleepy, backwoods set of towns. Try them all. But we believe best selection is still Lionheart. Low prices during happy hours for these top shelf brews. Free popcorn. Big back room of darts, pool tables and sports screens. Nice long front bar has diverse crowd for good people watching. Crowded and loud on weekend nights. At quieter times, bring in your own jerk chicken from the wonderful Dutch Pot a few doors down the street.
The Lionheart is a great pub, but it gets so packed. That being said, if you can carve out a little corner to hang out in, or if you really enjoy that lively atmosphere, it's a good time. The staff does a great job of staying on top of things despite how busy it can get.
5 star beer selection. 3 star atmosphere. If it weren't for the atmosphere, I'd put this up with the Pour House, Beer Belly and Beer Hall as one of the best beer bars in Albany. Granted, I probably shouldn't be holding the atmosphere against them if I'm really just focusing on the beer - but that's not how this works. Bonus points for Darts & Billiards in the back.
Lionheart is solid but I definitely see the draw backs of it. Lot of reviews complain about the food offerings or lack there of and staff. I’ve enjoyed the few times I’ve been there but I do agree it’s more of a local vibe I wouldn’t come here if I was from out of town. There are great dart boards and a pool table as well. Spacious upstairs and many bars tops up there as well.
It appears to be a good community joint jerry the owner is a self consumed money monger with little to no concern about the Community other than to drain its pockets but I understand they have a great selection of beer. Kaiser Lexie and R NAMASTE
That was my first time going to a pulp it was good aqua back again invite over people as well.
Love this place love hope they stay open late joe that never change a lot of nice people go here all is customers would be very up set if u ever closed early hate ur temporary close wish u open up soon miss u open Friday night late and sat please reopen soon we miss ur place it so much fun here Nice people go here
Lionheart Pub has two large bars - one in the front and one in the back - with a great drink selection and fast, friendly service. There's a surprising amount of room thanks to the bars depth and there are darts, a pool table, and bar video games in the back. Fresh, free popcorn is always available. This place definitely gets packed on weekend nights, but it's one of the best places to go to hang out with friends and enjoy Albany.
This is a typical college bar experience, the night starts slow with an older crowd and then starts to get younger as the night goes on. The drinks are standard cocktails and beer, and the bartenders are fast. The music is loud, but no dancing. A good place to start your night, probably not where you'll end up.
About a decade ago I was a regular here. Always had great people, a great atmosphere and excellent staff. I'll definitely say I was under impressed this last visit. After returning to the scene from several years of being away, Also I'll admit as a bartender I can be critical of how bartenders conduct themself, since they provide a majority of the tone for the establishment. But in short a particular bartender left me quite unimpressed. So I'm unlikely to want to be served by them again. Otherwise I had a fine time.
I love Lionheart. Have been having good times here since I was in college 04-08. Usually a great time Last night a man punched my 5’2” female friend in the face twice right in front of the bouncer. He was looking at it happen and they decided no action was necessary. Management changes, employees come and go. Use caution when going to this bar. Apparently things have changed.
Got harassed by the bouncer about the legitimacy of my ID. Instead of just scanning it he asked me all these questions. When I challenged him he scanned it and everything was fine. He didn’t apologize for holding me up. Like yes sir my ID and vaccination card are both forged(they’re not!) I was there for a private party. On a Thursday. It was early in the night and your bar was near EMPTY. Please believe me when I say your bar is not cool enough for minors to want to sneak in at 8pm on a Thursday. Won’t be returning for multiple reasons. Your power trip bouncer is just one of them <3
Nice bar. No food and no mocktails unfortunately.
Decent place for darts. Very low shelf well liquor. Very dirty... popcorn all over but none to eat. Bathrooms clogged and floors soaked. 81 degrees the entire 4 hours I was there throwing darts. The tiniest pieces of chalk for scoring
I don't like they you have to pay $5 to hear one song. And if you don't pay there nothing but slow old country songs and that's ok for a few songs but we're in downtown albany. There's a younger crowd that would like to hear other genres of music.
Changed way too much for my taste, loud and floors are filthy, went to play pool and there was only table. If you are 21 great, but for adults not so much
Beautiful atmosphere, great place in terms of appearance and presentation. Tonight was my first night there. I ordered some Bullitt whiskey for myself and a friend and another bar goer came up to me and told me not to order it in the future because the owner of the company beats his wife. All in a pretty condescending manner- I didn't know that, I just like whiskey. The bar goer said goodbye to the bartender by name, so I asked the bartender if she was a friend. She said yes, and I said that I thought that shaming me (or any customer) for my choice of liquor was inappropriate. The bartender responded in a way that defended her friend, but did not address my concern whatsoever. She dismissed me, belittled what I had to say, and continued with her work as if that wasn't a problem. I don't normally write reviews like this, but I felt it was inappropriate and worth the owner knowing about.
Went here when visiting Albany, the place itself was cool but I myself am a bartender and I felt that the female bartender was focused more on drinking than paying attention to customers.. not a good look
Man, this seemed like such a cool little joint, but I couldn't get the bartender's attention to save my life... Taking shots with his friends was more important, I guess. This was midnight on a Sunday, so I kind of get it, but still, not cool. I walked out and left the bar.
Going here is only good for college kids, college girls, or if you want to see college boys peacocking and failing miserably. Fights occur here as well. Staff is generally nice but the pool table seems to quite guarded and 'clicky'. It is like the college kids find some kind of entitlement owning that table as long as possible.
It’s ok. Certain Bartenders are rude. Was told I needed to use cash to do darts, and could use the ATM. I go to use it and it had no cash in it to even withdraw. Mentioned it to the bartender saying I could just put my card down like people do tabs on their drinks. Was told no and I can go to another ATM down the road. Lol maybe have cash in the one in your facility or accommodate guests when they’re willing to put down their card.
A friend of mine from the albany area was recently the victim of racially motivated violence and harassment here. The bouncer in charge of putting an end to that sort of thing intentionally looked the other way. This is not okay. Violence is not okay. Bigotry is not okay. I will not be a patron of the Lionheart any longer, and I suggest that others follow suit. There is no room for this sort of s**t today or any day.
Worst experience ever. Went for friends 21st birthday and bartender Larissa was so unbelievably rude and refused to serve her saying “it’s an invalid ID” ON HER 21st BIRTHDAY!!! She ruined our entire night. Will never be going there again
Don't waste your time.
The bartender upstairs on the second floor was very rude. He seemed to only care and pay attention to customer he knew personally. I will caution everyone I know to stay away form this place!
If I could leave a worse review I would I tried going here with my friends the previous night and the bouncer proceeded to tell me my id was fake and that I had to pay money to get it back to which I responded with I have a second form of identification and he gave me my id back and told me I could enter without me even having to show him proof I believe the bouncers are just trying to make money off people
Tried to charge me and my friends for food and drinks we didn't order, terrible bar in a town with many options, i wouldn't go here if i was on fire and they had the only glass of water left...
I'll edit this review in the future, with either the video, or pictures from it, of a bouncer that works here nearly killing someone. I may as well bring it back to light, given the owner trying and failing to scrub it from the internet xx
Was there on Friday, then this black bouncer or security, who ever he is, just ask me to get, tried asking him, what happened and for him to explain but he got so violent, talking about he was going to pop his trunk and talking loud. I believe I did have the right to know if I did something wrong or maybe he confused me with someone but no, this guy was just so rude. Was a bad experience. I was really embarrassed and never been humiliated like this. Especially, not knowing what I did wrong.
Bouncer was super rude to my friend just because he was wearing a jersey with no sleeves. He asked once if the jersey was okay and the bouncer got extremely rude very fast and told us we couldn’t come back even though he agreed to put a regular shirt on. Not going back again if that bouncer is there!!
My girlfriend of 105lbs went there for karaoke and was assaulted by a man and the bouncers did absolutely nothing and watched her get hit twice. I would not recommend going here as the staff are inept and don't care about their patrons safety.
I paid almost $30 on the TouchTunes juke box and the bartender kept skipping the one song i wanted to hear so I wasted almost $30 and didn’t even hear the song i wanted. So unprofessional and a miserable place to be.
Could be a good place if they would just get better staff. Almost every time I go there I'm met with bad service. Most recently the bartender downstairs ruined our time, and this wasn't our first bad experience with her. Big place, busy crowd, but I would still suggest somewhere with better bartenders
Place never really did it for me. Beer is good. Bouncers don't seem like they care about much, Bartenders are too busy with friends or eye candy to care about paying customers and how about it always being overcrowded? So not only am I forced to wait Half an hour to get my first beer while you hit on the campus bicycle.... but I have to enjoy it surrounded by droves of drunken frat boys? No thanks.
I was told at the entrance they don't allow plain white shirts. I thought the bouncers were messing with me at first, but they then told me go to the gas station next door, and the cashier had a sharpie at the ready so I could draw something on the shirt to be let in. Genuinely the strangest interaction I have had at a bar in America. Drinks are overpriced as well.
This place is truly run by dirt bags. My partner was assaulted at this establishment (we are locals who frequent Lionheart often). He was assaulted and security did absolutely NOTHING, the assault which resulted in a concussion, we reached out to management for help and they "respectfully" didn't even offer an apology. Disgusting business, worst customer service if any at all. If you are looking for a bar that doesn't care about safety at all this is the place for you.
Came for friends 21st birthday and where refused service. If your plan is to come and your remotely young, college age, or in a group they will give you a hard time and refuse service and tell you to leave. Awful experience they play ID game and bend real IDs without having a clue they are actually real.
do not go here!!! my friends went here a month ago to have a few drinks and get food. a bouncer dragged them out of the bar where they were jumped outside of the establishment. They had no idea why this happened. Someone inside the bar thought one of my friends was flirting with his girlfriend. on a seperate occasion my friends husband step brother and friends we dragged out of the bar and beat by the bouncers as well. He had severe gashed on his face and had to go to Albany med. police reports were attempted to be filed but there's no working cameras inside or outside LionHeart and no working cameras across the street as well. DO NOT GO HERE. I'm pretty sure they set people up and then jump them. It's a beautiful place and location but idk what goes on behind closed doors or what kind of business they are running
worst staff i have ever encountered, i got the worst remarks back derogatory and unsettling when entering, i don’t plan on going back
Imagine having a pretentious dress code that bans sweatpants for your shitty run of the mill bar. Place is a vibe killer. What a joke
Worst place to get a beer seven dollar PBR
Soon as I walked in with my one friends the worker yelling at us ID’s like common bro ,then wouldn’t wait for me to pull it out my pockets. Asking multiple questions. The guy literally interrogating people. It’s my 24th birthday and I felt very disrespected and not let in for no purpose. They didn’t deserve a dollar from me or a second of me time
My brother was having a stroke and was left on the sudewalk at lionheart, no help, no one called 911 until a neighbor passed by and helped him.
Absolutely awful experience came with a group of friends to try and celebrate 21st birthday. They played the ID game and bent up real IDs clearly not able to distinguish real IDs. They thought a real ID was fake only because it was from Virginia and didn’t even bother to scan. I guess it’s strange for out of state students to attend a university in the area. Thank you for making a birthday memory we will ensure we avoid in the future. No wonder this place had a 2.5 star rating before my review.
Got denied cause my shirt didn’t match dress code. Their dresscode sign is only shown inside the bar not outside and not on any website. Meanwhile the neighboring bars and areas don’t require one, & the location isn’t that nice. Several bars that are much nicer don’t have a dresscode and the ones that do clearly tell you online or have a sign on the windows. Not sure why they think it’s okay to not inform their paying customers, but its not my problem anymore ill make sure to take my money to a better bar
