Opinions de Loch & Quay Albany
Cozy place, it's got an aquatic 40s feel to it. One of the last bars around made of good wood.
Great place to grab a bite to eat. One of our favorite places to visit when in Albany
Great selection of beer. Great ambiance. Look forward to returning!
Nice out of state beer selection as well as some locals. Somewhat upscale.
A totally awesome place. Good brews good food good service!
Chill atmosphere, good drinks, great staff. Definitely coming back!
Went for a late lunch and had a chicken caesar salad. It was good and had A TON of chicken on it. The bartender was very nice and attentive.
Great place to relax before a show. Food was delicious. Everyone working at the Loch + Quay were happy and friendly. Drinks were perfect. We will return.
Even in chilly oct the patio was warm and cozy thanks to some seriously heavy duty heaters! All staff work masks diligently, food was delicious and came out in record time! 10/10
Above average food, great attention by the bar staff, cool atmosphere and a bar decorated and renovated to look like it’s former glorious self from the 1910s. Super cool!
A terrific pub with wonderful food. Will definitely visit it again.
Just had our holiday party here. They opened up on their day off just for us. Fun vibes.
Great place! Fantastic staff! Shout-out to Danielle and D! Excellent food (super clean kitchen)!
Great spot to go to for drinks. They are dog friendly and have a very nice staff. Very laid back place to catch up with friends!
Visiting for the weekend and found this place on yelp. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back.
Great ambiance, amazing bartenders, rocking beer selection with a small town bar feel. One of my favorite bars by far.
Super cool retro vibes, incredible food, professional and badass staff. Great prices. Apparently Trivia Tuesdays is a thing too!
Service is impeccable. Food is crafted with love. And the cocktails…. out of this world. A must visit place in Albany.
One of the greatest views from any bar in the Northeast. Lovely place to sit outside as well. Ample sidewalk space.
Great quality food Great beer selection Great vibes
Great service. Wide selection of draught beer. Small but good menu of apps and sandwiches.
Beautiful interior. Great beer selection. Good food. Excellent service. I'll be back.
Six of us went and everybody enjoyed their meals.
Great local bar with and old-time feel to it. Just two blocks from the Times Union center make this a great place to stop before any event.
So good we went twice in one day. Excellent food, service, drinks, and prices!
I work in downtown Albany, there are a lot of choices for lunch... I've gotta say, my coworkers and I have gone here a number of times and we always say how much we like going. If you haven't tried yet.. they have a great selection of draft beers (yes, it sometimes happens at lunch) and their lunch options are very tasty and well prepared. Great service too and nice normal people who attend. Try your next lunch here, you'll enjoy it!
Had a layover at the train station. Caught a Lyft to Loch & Quay. Well worth it. The music was amazing on 8/6 early afternoon. Fit the place nicely. The Caprese Panini had the perfect amount of crunch and you could taste every element of the sandwich. I loved how it was prepared. Bartender was super accommodating and friendly.
Good tap menu, had the George Burger and it was really good. Also had the tacos which are served on Tuesday, there were only a selection of 2, spicy chicken and spicy shrimp, both were fantastic but I wish they had a larger selection. When you see Taco Tuesday you are thinking eff yeah Tacos!! And different kinds. But again they were effn great. Almost went back to get some more later that night. And the staff was very very friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful art Deco bar and restaurant in downtown Albany. Just happened upon this after having driven by the city many times heading upstate. Loch and quay is located across from the SUNY building. The owner, Frank, was super friendly! Beer selection is extensive and the food was excellent. Highly recommend.
Cute and quiet spot... It's a very long bar which is nice for ppl like us that like to be at the bar. The bartender was friendly and made a killer old fashion for my hubby. The burger was good, wish they had fries but the chips were good too. My hubby loved their Mac salad one of his fav places for it.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. You absolutely HAVE to try the George burger! It's named after Loch & Quay's very own patron saint. Legend has it, one bite will grant you three wishes, and one of those wishes will be to have another George burger.
Great bar downtown. Doesn't get the intense foot traffic like city beer hall or wolff's, making it a chill, easy going place with a nice interior, good seating and a solid beer menu with local stuff on tap and more common large-scale brews in cans and bottles. They have a short food menu that looked good, but I haven't tried any food yet.
We had a party there and the staff was amazing!
I was lucky and stopped in on Taco Tuesday. The tacos were delicious. It’s three huge tacos for around $10. The food is fresh and the service was great too!
A local staple in downtown Albany and a great place to grab food and drinks before an event at the MVP Arena or a show at Empire Live/The Palace Theater. One hundred percent worth stopping by with their diverse craft beer selection! 🍻
Fun Irish pub and food. Daily specials so be sure to ask!
Wow! So great. Stopped in (unplanned) for lunch, had a club sandwich with mac salad (AMAZING), my boyfriend had a turkey panini.. everything was perfect. Nice beer list, excellent service.
The food was top-notch!!! The service was fantastic!!! The atmosphere was awesome!!! I really can't say enough about Loch & Quay. We will definitely be back! Loved, loved, loved this new find!!!
I stopped in for a drink during a bus layover from Montreal to NYC. It's very close to the Greyhound station. The service was friendly, and the place seemed lively. They had some TVs showing the baseball game. Would return next time I'm in Albany
Probably the best French onion soup I've ever had. Service was spectacular too. Was a great dining spot during our travels.
Today was my first time here and it certainly won't be my last! What a great pub menu. I had the chili and bangers and mash. It was outstanding. I wish I took pics but I just dove in. Excellent all the way around
I had a really nice lunch here! It was my first time trying L&Q, the server was extremely friendly and accommodating, the food and drinks were excellent, will definitely be coming back.
Very nice menu with wide choices. No fries, if that matters. Super fine staff, and very good food. Huge selection of beers, plus wine and some cocktails.
Lovely spot to stop for a quick lunch. I had the Reuben, my company had the club, the mac n cheese, and the buffalo salad + onion soup. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The ambiance was nice. The service was super efficient on a Friday afternoon (between lunch and dinner, admittedly). Great beer selection. Great spot.
Our company hosted our holiday party at Loch & Quay. It was amazing, and they exceeded my expectations. Frank and Christian were extremely helpful with letting me know the costs associated with opening on a day they are normally closed, and the costs associated with an event. Bea, their Head Chef was amazing and had menu items to accommodate our vegetarian and pescatarian staff. 10/10
I had the veggie wrap with chicken and the side kale salad. It was SO fresh and delish. So bummed we are leaving Albany tomorrow. I would go back for sure! The lady bartender we had was super attentive-didn’t catch her name though. Cool vibes in there too!
The bartender is the grandson of original owner & such a sweet, friendly guy. Have great meal suggestions. Food was great with huge portions. The atmosphere was great. Would definitely be back if I am ever in Albany again.
Beautiful!!! Bar is original from the 1930s. Awesome draft and can offerings for beer, great wine selection. Staff and service are excellent! They really did a great job restoring this space. Haven't ordered a thing off of the menu that I haven't liked.
A great first experience. The pours of Guinness were great. A fun atmosphere, the bar area is narrow, so it can feel a little crowded at times.
Perfect place for a nice cocktail, glass or wine or a beer after a long day. Friendly people and delightful food.
Wonderful experience. The buffalo chicken wrap was delicious and the wine deal on Wednesday was an added bonus.
Had a lovely time and bartender Jordan was amazing, fun, quintessential bartender. Super welcoming and warm. Good food! Just what we needed after a long day.
I visited Loch and Quay with large group of people the night before a wedding. The atmosphere was fantastic, the bar service was exceptional, and the quality and variety of drinks were everything we needed to accommodate the large group. We had an awesome and memorable night! Highly recommend for anyone thinking to stop in for some fun
I went during a time that wasn't too busy, so I had a wonderful experience. The food recommendation was great, although he mentioned he recommends mostly everything. ☺️. I liked the taste of everything, really. It was big portions for sure. The French dip sandwich with the mac salad was really good. I also ordered the mashed potatoes which were super tasty. Loved it here.
Sometimes you feel like you’ve found a hidden gem. Loch and Quay is one of those! It’s so dang cute inside…kitsch and local without feeling over the top. Full bar and good beer selection. The food was the star. We tried the Italian sandwich and a ham and jam sandwich, both soooo good. Also loved the Mac salad option. Service was fantastic, pleasant, and friendly. Highest rec.
Fun little bar/pub for lunch or dinner. Don't go on a night with an event at the MVP since it can get quite overwhelming for the staff and slow for the customer. But great food selections, I had the salmon last time and was thoroughly impressed for a pub style place. And remember taco Tuesday for lunch is great.
Visiting Albany from Nashville for a day, this downtown restaurant was a welcomed Saturday afternoon spot for a comfortable & enjoyable lunch. The suggested sandwich I had (turkey paninni with jam, arugula, feta cheese and other ingredients) was surprising and AMAZING! Can't remember the name, so ask about it. Super vibey, outdoor seating, close to the river, and wonderfully friendly service. Thumbs up 100%.
I wandered in the door while visiting Albany from out of town and I had a curry wrap that I enjoyed so much that I still tell people about it a year later. It really hit the spot! I'm visiting again this summer and one of the things I'm looking forward to is stopping by Loch and Quay for a bite and a beer.
This review is in direct response to Julia Jenkins one star review. First I have an issue with people purposely trying to hurt a small local business when they have visited only once. I have been going to Loch and Quay since the week it opened and the ONE time I received an order not to my liking, I let the staff know and was comp’d. Did Ms. Jenkins let the staff know? Or did she bring her order home and let the cheese set??? I have ordered the pretzels multiple times and it never looks like that. To those people wanting TRUE reviews of establishments please research those reviewers and how many times they actually ate at the establishment. Btw Ms Jenkins, next time you receive pretzels that are too salty—do what I do—take your pointer finger and flick the salt off. Chef Bev is the best Loch has had and the food is great. One of my favs is the patty melt. I also LOVE the reuben, best in the area. She also creates great soups for both vegans and non vegans. Thx Loch this review is long overdue, the entire staff are friendly and helpful.
I went to this place because the bar next door said food will take 1.5 hr and I can confidently say their food is 👍👍Tbh, I was worried when i was ordering because the menu option was so simple and everyone was just drinking but the food is great. I wish there’s fries inside of potato chips. They didn’t tell me that we can replace the chips with salad. that would’ve been a better option. With a bit more of work on the menu, I think this place will be amazing. I recommend this place for a quick bite
Great beer selection. Good food and service
Nice local pub atmosphere. A few TVs for sports. Sidewalk tables. Ok service but bartender was admittedly having a bad day. Will revisit regularly.
Place says online that it closed at 8 on a Saturday. But they stayed open to serve all the customers that were patronizing the establishment. Great ambience.
Quaint little place, first time there. Limited food selection and the same with the beer. Love the art deco decor.
Great drinks and atmosphere! Would like to go back to try the food and take some photos.
Great decor. Good beer selection. Food just ok. Service just ok.
The food was good. Sandwiches, burgers and paninis. Plenty of beer selections.
I went for my holiday party with work and it was a great time! Good atmosphere and great drinks! The bartenders for the event were awesome thanks so much
Super cute spot to grab a quick lunch of spinach dip and nachos!
Great old bar/restaurant with a classic art deco bar. Great selection of craft beers and ales, well stocked spirits, and a good selection of light fare(quesadillas, wraps, sandwiches, and burgers).
Went here (for the first time) on a Monday afternoon to catch up with a friend. Right away the ambiance and décor of the whole establishment caught our eye. The cocktails were delicious and strong ; we also enjoyed a quick appetizer - chicken quesadilla. No chicken wings here by the way- so you'll just have to try one of their other delicious food items!
Atmosphere is probably the main thing I look for in a bar. It could have the best beer selection in the world and not impress me. Which means that I have to go to the bar multiple times before I give it a fair shakr so this review is more of a first impression. It has a nice selection of local brews. Friendly staff. A nice modern look. The bar food isnt too heavy because they serve chips instead of fries. I had the Impossible Burger. If you told me this was a vegan burger I would be surprised. The burger is probably the most akin to a regular burger than any other burger I have ever eaten. So overall this is a nice laidback bar during the week. Not sure how it ia during the weekend.
Decent pricing, gorgeous atmosphere. The glazed carrots hit wonderfully different. No clue how to pronounce the name, but with a dynamite selection of east coast beers, youll be pronouncing it "Lock and Key" with confidence in no time
Simple pub with decent bar food and a wide range of beer/ale offerings. Wife thoroughly enjoyed the French onion soup. Burrito was good size, chips and pickle with most handhelds - unfortunately the "chips" that come with the meal are small personal prepackaged bag of Utz chips - kinda weak.
Really good food and beer. The bartenders were really friendly and helpful, not pushy at all. Very nice and warm atmosphere. Reasona, but good quality.
At my wife's suggestion we visited Loch & Quay (pronounced Lock & Key) on Fri 4/04/2025. This pub is on Broadway in downtown Albany. We went at 5:30pm because usually this area is busy. But to our surprise we found a free (no feeding the meters after 5pm) on street parking right in front - Nice! Found seats at the bar, about 10 people there. Bartender Nicole G got us our Happy Hour drinks, Pinot Grigio ($5) & Kilkenny draft ($6) and we had 2nds with our dinners. Wife had the Mediterranean lemon chicken chickpea salad - fresh & large ($18). I had the battered cod sandwich w/slaw & mac salad side ($16). Both were very good, just the right dinner we were after. Got kinda quiet after 6pm. A table of three were also there. Very nice experience. I would think that as the weather improves more people will enjoy their outdoor area. Good first impression. Chock full of Albany nostalgia. Thank you to Nicole & staff. It was a nice visit and we will go back. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY
Average food. Burger patty was thin and the thickness of the bun made for a burger that tasted more of bread than patty. The chicken quesadillas had ok flavor but weren't memorable. Service was good
Great food and good drinks! They have some great weekly specials. Love the tacos. Overall great little bar with awesome staff.
Walked by an app recommendation! Place was somewhat packed as there was a venue event close by. The service was very good. Was greeted, seated and Sarah the bart tender took my order. She gave options on IPA’s. The food was delivered quick. To my surprise, the burger was flat, a bit on the dryer side with 0 condiments. Was bun, bacon, cheese and a pickle spear. Fries were not available so a bag of voodoo chips were in place. $15 for a high school cafeteria burger with no fries is a big much. No lettuce, onions or tomatoes to justify the price either. Place itself and Sarah’s service was good; but the quality of the food could use a revisit to get value back. I’m in Albany often for business. I will return just for the beer.
Loch & Quay has a throwback feel to it,it feels like one of those bars your parents went to when they were in college, the music and the look of the place is lovely.I ordered a Quesadilla and because I was there for a quick stop,I asked if the staff could make my order quickly, and despite them being rushed,my food tasted great!I loved the cold salsa on the side that complimented the warm, soft Quesadilla. The service was kind, punctual and professional.I would definitely recommend investing. P.S. I also left my favourite black jean jacket there so If anybody finds it,let me know👀
Great bar, friendly bartenders, great beer and great ambiance on the inside. The beer menu was showing up on a TV above the bar. Comfortable seats too, I suppose the food is nice here as well but I didn’t get a chance to try the food out. Looks really good on the inside, wish I could have stayed longer but I had just stopped by for a beer during a very short trip to Albany, New York.
Great beer selection but super stingy pour on the pricey cocktails.
Good selection of beer but the food was rather mediocre.
Nice comfortable, chill atmosphere. Old Irish pub feel. I had the French dip and my wife had the party melt. Both very good. Definitely recommend. The beer list is totally skewed toward light American lagers (including a supposed Czech pilsner that tasted like a light American lager) and juicy NE IPA's. Hey, that's great for those who like that. But not everyone likes beer that has no malt backbone and/or no hop bitterness. A more diverse beer list would be a big improvement.
D, guy at the register/taking orders, is awesome and always provides quality customer service. Very pricey. Update: Had to change my review. Went there today with a group, and the bartender, lady with long curly hair, was rude and had a little bit of an attitude. I will return only because I usually receive quality service otherwise but I was not happy on this visit with this particular bartender.
Went before a concert… got there when it wasn’t busy yet. They could of gotten more business if the kitchen was open before 4:30pm. Ordered 5 different meals only got 4. They have a margarita of the month … they were “All out” and never took the sign down. Not going back.
Ate here 8/29/2020. Food took 45 minutes to arrive with 3 or 4 tables occupied. Quesedilla was burnt to charcoal one side... replacement was also burned almost as badly - at least they didn't charge for it. New chef apparently.
It was a Friday at 5:30pm, you have to order at the bar and get your own sodas/drinks & then the server brings you the food, but you never see her again. Small menu & food was not great have. Panini that was not even warm, cheese was not melted, got a Bacon Burger that was flavorless and the Reuben Quesadilla that was okay with a odd salsa and spoiled cottage cheese on the side. They didn't even offer us any sides besides a bag a sea salt chips. Then menu online is not the menu they give you. On a side note the place is cute inside & the bartender was polite and apologetic but was not worth $80.
Frank, No this review is not solely about the noise complaint. It is also based on multiple experiences ordering food over several months. On more than one occasion, the food was poor in quality and not worth the price, and the service did not justify the cost. Regarding the noise issue: this has not been a one-time incident. It has occurred consistently for over six months, nearly every month, which is why I do not have confidence that it has been resolved. A review reflects the customer’s full experience with the business, including food, service, and ongoing issues. This review accurately represents mine with Loch & Quay.
I placed a takeout order from this place a few days ago. I purchased 2 orders of the soft pretzel sticks. Each were $11 each. Total came up to about $24. The pretzels were cold and so was the cheese that came with it. The pretzels were drenched in salt and everything tasted old. Check out the photos and see how stiff the cheese is. Tossed this in the garbage. I will not be returning. This was around 1:00PM in the afternoon.
