Opinions de Wolff's Biergarten Albany
Simply one of the best places to get a drink. Wonderful atmosphere, coupled with an attentive and efficient crew that makes sure your needs are met. Sam, especially, is a great tender! Can’t recommend this place more.
We had an extended layover in Albany and decided to make the trek downtown to check out Wolff’s Biergarten. Boy are we glad that we did, one of the most fun Saturday mornings in a while. Mark was stellar behind the bar. Great crowd, great conversations and excellent beer selection. PS. Try the pretzels!
Such friendly staff! Great selection tonight of beers on draft, too. Really accommodating of our family birthday celebration for mother-in-law's 85th. She loved the boot!
Great beer selection and I was into some of the funky decor. There were peanuts and peanut shells everywhere but I think it added to the ambiance. We tried the soft pretzel appetizer and it was yummy!
Always fun going to Wolff's. We particularly like going to the brunch, but night, of course, is fun too. Love the birthday boot of beer and the large screens showing lots of soccer games. Always a festive spot nestled in a quickly developing neighborhood.
Good late night spot. We went and had a few drinks, played darts. The vibe is a younger crowd, loud mixed music. Not in the greatest of neighborhoods but still would recommend if you are taking an Uber or driving there
We stopped here after a night of Axe throwing to end an amazing birthday! The bartenders Jahnece and Nick were great! All around good vibes. A must -stop if it's your birthday !
Great selection of German beer! Love the peanuts on the table. Definitely don't go here if you have even the slightest peanut allergy. Mac and cheese was delicious as was the pretzel bites.
One of the best bars in capital region. They have lot of variety of handcart bears. The beer price ranges between 7$- 12$. They won't accept card, they will accept only cash. If you don't have cash they have ATM inside bar. You can draw from there. If you can plan properly you can have a good bear and visit Granny's stout for dance pub opposite to it. There is large tables for 10 group of people to sit and hangout here. Best time is to go is on Friday and Saturday.
One of the best Bars in Albany. Great specials, ie. bingo night, student night, happy hour etc… really tasty food that is filling and doesn’t break the bank! Overall fantastic bar with great beers and even better staff!!
Great pub!!! Wish we had this back in Springfield!!! Awesome selection of German beer and the food was great too!!! My buddy had the Wurst Sampler and I had the black forest sandwich with fries. Soccer on two TVs was a nice touch. Football, beer and quality German food is man heaven!!! Next time in Albany, I'll be back!!!
Great casual bar with a great selection of reasonably priced beer and cocktails and food! The staff are so helpful and make the experience one to remember. If you're a soccer fan, this is the place to go to watch games (with 6 big screen tv's you can catch the game from any angle)
This place really is as good as it gets. If you never been let me paint a picture... Unassuming... seems like a bit of a hole in the wall... why are there peanuts everywhere on the floor? Turn the calendar page and the next thing you know... I'm throwing peanut shells on the floor and spending most weekends here. This place truly is incredible for a number of reasons starting with the ambiance. This is a German inspired beir hall (See what I did there) It serves up some amazingly authentic German beers on tap as well as an assortment of some domestics and a short wine list. On top of the beverages they do the same thing with the food. They have a great selection of all your German favorites (potato pancakes for life!). The experience is very laid back and wholesome. You can catch soccer games on the regular and they also show other sports on big game nights. Grab some friends and check this place out - very fun and friendly staff - great beer and food choices - and you can eat all the peanuts you want while chucking them on the floor without shame... I mean for that alone it deserves 5 stars right?
Have always loved this place. The beer is excellent. There is a variety of beers that are mostly from Europe. There are a couple local brews like 9 Pin Cider. There is table tennis and darts if you want to do a little more than talk to friends. The food is pretty good. It is above average bar food. It is considered one of the best soccer bars in the country and I can see why. The atmosphere is has a lumberjack man cave feel in terms of decor. There is always sports on TV but soccer takes priority. The only nitpick I have is that it is on the small side in space but that is part of the charm. Also lots of hip bars within walking distance if you are looking to bar hop.
Fun place with a good selection of German and other beers. Small but tasty selection of food. Free peanuts and a diverse group of people. Took my Uncle from out of town here and he had a very good time. We met a very nice couple with the sweetest Chihuahua mix I have ever met. This place will be a great place to watch the World Cup games on their big screen TVs.
Do you like beer? Do you like endless peanuts in shell? Do you enjoy sweeping your small pile of broken shells onto the floor? Do you like football (soccer)? Do you enjoy wurst? If you answered yes to any of these things this place is for you! It's a great spot with good food, great beer, darts, and shuffleboard. Just be aware it's cash only with an ATM on site
Authentic soccer bar by day, fun club vibe by night with awesome music and DJ talent. Drinks are very affordable if you pay attention to their specials so be sure to follow them on Instagram to stay updated. Bartenders and rest of crew are pure class and will treat you well. Best bar in downtown Albany hands down.
I came here with my family to celebrate a friend's birthday. The servers were friendly, ready to serve us with a smile on their faces. The establishment was typical of these types of pubs, a little gloomy and unkempt.
Watch soccer matches here for a good crowd and a great beer deal. Community-style tabling makes it an easy place to gather with friends. Great spot to celebrate birthdays if you're feeling confident about finishing a boot of beer. always a good time.
An excellent branch of the local “wolf’s Biergarten” chain. And a side note the French fries are the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly salted and perfectly crispy. Always love coming here
Fun place with chill vibes. Loads of place to sit, plus dart board and other fun activities for a group. Definitely would recommend going the day before, day of, or day after your birthday so you can enjoy a free Birthday Boot of beer (2L)
Best bar in the Capitol Region without question . . . The beer selection - tops, the staff- incredible, food - on target. Albany would not be Albany without the Biergarten.
Wolff’s Biergarten is the best bar in Albany! Sam, Sal and Ryan are the most kind and attentive bartenders who would do anything for their customers!! The speed with which the drinks arrived add our heads spin in disbelief! Biergarten is the best atmosphere for a night out and I wouldn’t ever pick anywhere else!
BEST PORK SCHNITZEL SANDWICH EVER! It truly is unbelievable. If I died tomorrow and went to heaven, I would end up here. Seriously, this place is great for classic deustch biers, darts, and some hella eatin'. Everybody who works here are all real nice. I plan on coming back or stopping by through Albany just for this daimond in the rough. They need a hotel or something in the area because I would spend a whole weekend just going there. Only 15 minute walk or a 5 minute ride to this place from downtown Albany.
Really cool bar with delicious food and drink options. I've been with family and friends and have always had a great time
This is one of our go to places for Birthday drinks or social gatherings. The atmosphere is chill & the staff has always been great, and I like the drink selection too. (FYI: It's a dog friendly place. I'm allergic but love dogs & it does't bother me.) The last two years for my birthday we had one of the same bartenders and he took care of us the entire night. Made sure we were set with food/drinks & had a good time. Last week was especially fun & I'll be going back well before my next birthday.
Went there for trivia and a few drinks. It was a hopping’ scene. Inside was packed and it was open to the air outside with some tables out there as well. Big tables for larger crowds playing trivia as well. Beer selection was good and the wait staff was friendly. Got the feeling that there were good, light-hearted people running this place.
As a Soccer fan, this place is my home for all the soccer actions. The beers, the food and the service are one better than another. I generally don’t prefer going to bars by myself, however at Wolf’s, the bartenders have changed that. Carl, Mike, Sal, Raffie under Kylie’s management make sure that our experience is top notch. Generally it’s an EPL bar, yet they happily facilitate other soccer matches. Sam and Dan are couple of the most humble owners I have come across. On weekends nights, it’s fun hanging around as there’s a DJ frequently. Although it gets crowded and you may not get served right away, but isn’t that same for every good/popular place! Pay a visit there once, you would also have similar experience.
Amazing place great atmosphere!! I love personally that they play a mix of all music throughout the night not just Latin music!!! Thank god for the amazing Djs and great staff for always keeping this place fun!
Soccer. Bier. Peanuts. Not to mention a fine selection of German bier and cider. Great food. Excellent service. Always a good time. All supporters are welcome... Update 8/23 The new owners are bringing Wolff's back to its former glory. The menu has just enough offerings to make brunch an option again.
What can I say, I just love Wolff's Biergarten. I had my first great experience there during the 2014 World Cup. It was a blast to watch the game with enthusiastic and friendly spectators, while enjoying some delicious and affordable German-style beer. The activities they offer are also a lot of fun! From bingo to darts to trivia to board games, you can expect to have a good time. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are welcoming and professional. Overall, one of my favorite bars!
Great place to visit if you're an English football fan. You'd often find team supporters on every match day which adds to the atmosphere. There's a great variety of beer and food items on the menu. I have had the breakfast before and the pretzel which were both great. Bartenders are nice and friendly. Highly recommended.
Great college spot on the weekends with great DJs (always good when Chris G or NVision is playing). Really feels like the vibe of the Boston/NYC nightclubs, even rivals Saratoga nightclubs vibe wise.
The best place to hang out. Pedro’s chocolate covered strawberries are a great special menu item!
THE place to be on Monday night for bingo. The best atmosphere and the most amazing bartenders. Will hype this place up forever.
I’ve been here a bunch of times. It always delivers for what I want. But…today was different. I did more than drink. I partook. In the atmosphere. In the vibe. In the FOOD. HOLY COW. I grew up hating onions. These were far and away the most phenomenal onions rings of my life. I will tell my grandchildren’s about these. I will bring my friends here to see them. I had delicious ciders and beverages along with this. And food. The sriracha garlic wings were amazing. But. The onion rings. And the dipping sauce. I’m going to have my dreams haunted. By its amazingness.
I've been traveling from out of town for the last month or 2 and quickly made this bar my home away from home bar. The staff are all super welcoming and attentive. The general people in the place are all nice and friendly. The food is waayy better than you would expect from a bar- is just delicious in general. Music has always been good. They play all the soccer games and it's just a great place overall. It makes traveling for months on end a much better experience
Visited this place so many times but it has always been crowded. This was first time it was quiet but good part was we didn’t have to wait long to order. It was my partner’s birthday and they had free bier boot (2 ltr) on the house for birthday customers. That was interesting. I had tried their food and cocktails in my earlier visit. This was only for beer, and we were so happy to get free beer, so just paid for my drinks 😄. Their large drink options must be tried so will be coming back more often and esp on the day of birthday, not going to miss it.
Wolff's is a great soccer bar. I was up for the weekend and caught an early morning Liverpool game. Opened in time for the start of the match, and staff was ready to serve right away. Plenty of viewing options (many TV's). Only downside was there were no food options at the moment. I'll definitely be back!
Let me just say I’d like to give this place another visit after our first time. Why do you go here? For beer and sports. What sport? Football. No no no. Not the American football. Proper football. At least on Sunday’s. Visited on a Sunday. Firstly, thank you for being dog friendly!!! Will remember this for the future. For first timers, I feel like there should be a disclaimer on the website/social media/on their paper menus on their ordering etiquette. Or even a dang sign in the front to sit down where you want and order at the bar. So, there ya go! It should be noted that if you go there during Brunch hours, you can only order from the Brunch menu, and not the lunch menu. They were super friendly for our dog visitor. Breakfast food was better than average. So maybe we would visit during lunch and have a different opinion.
This place exceeds a consumer’s unique bar expectations. From the food, to the drinks, to the staff, to the ambiance, it is the perfect spot to have a drink and chill or let loose and dance a little. I love how personable the staff is and how welcomed I feel when I walk in the door. No, this isn’t a ‘hole in the wall’ bar, but it certainly gives off the same comfortable and open vibes. The dart boards and specialty nights are a plus and really open a person up to expressing themselves in the most authentic way here! Definitely a must when you’re in Albany.
Wolff’s Biergarten is one of my favorite places I would love to spend time with friends and enjoy german beers 🍺. Wonderful atmosphere, very cool bartenders, dog friendly, solid beer selection, on the street, even you can bring your own food 😅🤩😍😎 You can ask for 1Liter beer 🍺 or boot 🤪🤪😵💫😵😵💫😵😵💫😵😵💫😵😵💫😵😵💫😵😵💫😵 Peanuts 🥜 Peanuts 🥜 and Peanuts 🥜 goes very well with any types of German beers 🍺 Plus, they have cool decorations for Christmas 🎄 🎅 see the pictures I’ve uploaded. Thank you Wollf’s Biergarten 🍺
Excellent beer options and pretty good German fare. I really like their fries. This place is self-serve (you go to the bar, you go order at the food register) so more for a friend hangout than a date. They have big long tables that you sit at with whoever is around. Free peanuts--you throw the shells wherever. Not fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but good at what they do. They often have sports on, especially soccer games. When major games happen you will have to fight for seating and put up with a bunch of loud drunk white guys in soccer jerseys...
A nice space in both summer and winter. I miss the more purely German style it had a few years ago, but the food is still good and the beers are good too. I would complain about losing certain German beers but having good American beers available is always a good thing. The "Wurst und Bun" is the best deal on the menu.
Very good food, very good beer, very good atmosphere although I would ask for quieter music on a Saturday night - you have enough of a din with people talking, no one's trying to hear the music above it all. The free beer boot on your birthday is a big plus. However, thanks to very inflated prices, that's about all I'd come here for. Not your everyday neighborhood haunt, for sure.
Great spot to hang out, when it isn't too crowded. The sausages and dinner plates are generous and tasty, the beer selection is fun. They've crafted a wonderful experience that is exactly what they were after, without feeling too corporate. It's nice.
The food here isn't anything fancy, but it's delicious. The beer selection is an interesting novelty for the area, and contains a personal favorite. Free peanuts and a pseudo-biergarten interior complete with heavy wooden picnic tables makes it a great alternative to the typical bars in the area. Aside from the slightly out of the way location, and the insane crowds that gather on the weekends, this is a fun bar. I've made sure to get my free boot of beer for the past couple birthdays too.
Good place with a great beer selection. The best time to visit the Biergarten is to watch a soccer game or two. If not you will still have fun throwing darts and just grabbing a bite to eat.
Great beer selection and relaxed environment are nice, and the open front makes it a good summer place for brunch, lunch, and afternoon drinks. One of the best local places to watch football/soccer games, too. It's a cash-only business, though, with an expensive ATM, which is a little annoying if you don't plan ahead.
Great atmosphere and fantastic German Beer! The Customer service is good, however they don't have a kitchen anymore. We ordered food and they only have a few menu items now. No more macaroni and cheese, or sauteed brats and potato pancakes.... 😔
Everyone in there were verynice. Bartender was great. She stayed on top of everyone making sure there drinks were good. A woman who seems like a regular there came in with a tray of cookies to share with everyone which was so sweet . I will be back there when i am in town again
Fun place for brunch on the weekends. Good food, friendly atmosphere. People bring their little ones because they can run around and no one cares. Coffee decent and if you want to start the day with a little kick the beers are the real thing, not the watered down bud and miller products.
I have been to biergartens in Germany and Austria so I had to withhold one star in comparison to them ;) but this is a great find! Nice selection of beer, great bday special. The happy burgers were a little small, but the wurst was a solid choice. For sides go for the Brussells!! And potato pancakes ;)
I personally don't come here for the food. Generally is ok, but very bland all things considered. If it's your birthday they give you a 2 liter glass boot of beer. It says $40 deposit, but they just hold onto the B-Day persons license. (Worth well over $40, but much better than a hold on your card.) They have a great beer selection and prices aren't too bad. There is a dart board wall, plenty of seating on the average day. The staff here is excellent, they are the real reason to come back. They have a great report with each other and it makes the experience that much smoother. When the bartenders and security are having a good time. So is everyone else. Would return, likely not for food though.
I’m a sucker for Bavarian food, so we stopped in to grab a takeaway meal while in town for the night. Overall, the food was just average, but definitely a fun atmosphere. The potato salad was phenomenal, easily the standout and something I’d happily recommend. The Jägerschnitzel sandwich, however, was missing the oyster mushrooms and schwarzbier gravy listed on the menu (see photo), which was disappointing. We were also expecting the goulash to be more traditional, with chunks of beef; instead, it leaned more toward an Americanized ground-meat style. While waiting for our food, we enjoyed a beer at the bar. The bartender was friendly and easy to talk to, which made the time fly by. I can absolutely see this being a fun spot for EPL mornings or a casual beer stop, even if the food didn’t quite live up to traditional Bavarian expectations.
The place is great, good German beer selection, nice decor. But man, every time I've been there on a busy night, the crowd is weird. Last night I grabbed an open bench, after asking if it was free, moved it to our table for friends and a random lady at the table next to me grabbed the bench and yelled at Me "don't take our bench!". I pointed out that I got the bench from across the room but it didn't matter. These kinds of awkward interactions happen each time. It's just a weird crowd that goes there.
We haven't been here in about 2 years or so. Somehow, they seemed to have lost their vibe. Maybe it's because Mark Graydon always seemed to be there tending bar when we stopped in. My wife liked a gluten free beer that they had, and Mark always remembered even though we only stopped in every month or so. I do like the new system for ordering food. The quality of food was very good though.
Some visits here are better than others. This time wasn't one of the better ones. For starters, the place WAS WAAAAAAY TOO LOUD! Even the outdoor seating was rendered unpleasant because their TVs were blaring some sporting event few of the other patrons seemed to be watching (all I was aware of were the commercials). At any rate, it was all but impossible to have a normal conversation over the noise. When I have visited here in the past and had good experiences, I have enjoyed the beer selection and the breakfast options. Sadly, we got here too late to get the breakfast menu and, since I had to drive someone to the airport, I couldn't get any beer.
Beer selection is awesome. Food choices are decent. Food quality is good. Service and Staff interaction is lackluster unless you are a friend of theirs or sleeping with them. Atmosphere is trying to hard but failing slightly. Waiting to see how the Schenectady location and staffing works out. If not for the beer and food I would not go all to often.
Good beer selection but it's not cheap and is cash only. They show all the soccer games. Seems like even when there are a lot of people here, it's not uncomfortably crowded. This is a good place to go for a couple drinks but seems like it could get really expensive for much more. I've been noticing a pretty steady police patrol in the area lately so it seems really safe at night...but obviously get a DD.
Cool set up with a large garage door front that's wide open. However while sitting at the bar my wife and I were watching sparrows constantly coming and going taking snacks from the complimentary 🥜. So I would recommend NOT getting any🤢. Also the bratwurst & German potato salad wasn't exactly worth the trip. We were hoping for better ...
A very popular spot in downtown Albany. Most people go to watch sports games (big soccer bar) and birthday boot. The food is German American and delicious. You get a free boot of beer the day before, on, or after your birthday. It's a cool hang during the week after work or daytime weekend. Turns into a college bar after 9 pm. The bathrooms are gross.
I used to love this place. Now it smells like sewer, there’s never enough staff, and to be honest the last time I came here the poutine was one of the worst meals I’ve had in my life. They still show all the games, but it’s not worth it to me to come here because it’s such a sty.
Place is beat and shop-worn. The owner obviously hasn't put a dollar into it for quite some time, and it shows. I ordered $16 poutine which was made with frozen fries and what seemed like jarred gravy. For $16 I expect freshly made gravy and fries. Spent $30 for a liter of beer and poutine (with tip). Save your money and get better food at Dinosaur BBQ .
Most generic bar ever filled with frat and sorority girls, the girls have the power of 300 men when they push you aside. Never coming here again, filled with alcohol and potheads. “Oh you play a sport come to wolfs beer garden!” I couldn’t breath there they had too much smokers there. I also got jumped by a bunch of goofballs who thought they owned the place, they can have the place.
I walked in and sat at the bar. The bartender didn't even acknowledge me, attended to other people who came in after me, and then went into a backroom. Okay, I will take my business next door.
Was going to drive all the way up from CT to go to Latin Night with DJ Loca, only to find out the event was cancelled on extremely short notice to bring in the same DJ they always have. It wasn’t super clear on why they cancelled and they tried to muddy the water it seems and shift blame. Very unprofessional and very disappointing.
Disappointed to see the Latin night was cancelled. And on extremely short notice at that. I was excited for new music and something that was different than your average bar. Do better.
cancelled latin night with DJ Loca last minute and replaced with regular white guy DJ. we were really excited to see more diversity in the music scene and they just dropped her for no good reason. not cool
There are much better bars on just this block that probably won’t cancel an event you’ve been looking forward to for weeks the night before it’s scheduled to happen.
The security guard needs more training on identifying fake IDs versus real, as well as learning how to properly deescalate rather than incite more disturbance. The security took my Maine ID and said I could get it in the morning, clearly they wouldn’t have given it back if it was fake at all, so he took my property without valid reason when I had two other forms of ID with my birthdate. I was only given it back when I said I’d call the cops. It put a really sour taste in our groups mouth to see how that was handled. The security guard lunged towards me as well when I told him to F himself. Clearly he has little to no control of himself and is highly uneducated and unprofessional for the position. It was sad to see the manager try to back him as well when he was in the wrong. I’d suggest he learn a thing or two before this becomes an issue to his employment. This also affects your establishment if he won’t let in other states IDs because he cannot properly identify them which shouldn’t be that hard.
I visited here tonight and got bullied out of my seat three times. The last time was right after the bartender put a 25%gratuity on my check. I guess you guys had a better night than me. Congrats.
Negative stars through and through. I wish I can give this bar a negative review. When my friends and I recently came here we were treated with nothing but RACISM. no one wished to attend us and they would serve others multiple times before serving myself and my friends all though we only wished to order one drink and a water. The absolute worst place to go to if you’re living or visiting Albany. This establishment is just filled with racists.
Great atmosphere with some fun people. We came during trivia night and it was a good time and enjoyable. They had a good selection on tap, and food was good overall. My only complaint was bar service was extremely slow, it seemed like none of them wanted to be bothered or the one to serve. Update: I thought it would be a 1 time thing…nope! One of the bartenders looked at me a few times while I was waiting and was serving someone else, when he finished he began to serve another man next to me who came after, turned out to be his friend. Terrible bar service.
Cleared my schedule right before the holiday to come to Latin Night with DJ Loca, only to find out the event was cancelled on extremely short notice to bring in the same DJ they always have, to play the same music they always play. Disappointed in how this business treated a local artist trying to bring new energy to the bar.
This business booked a Latina DJ months in advance and canceled her show at the last minute while replacing her with a white male DJ. There was no indication of why or clear communication towards the Latina DJ, leading the public to theorize as to why. Not very professional guys. Please do better next time.
This place is disgusting and openly has a sewage and septic issue. Went in here with friends one night and had to leave because of the overwhelming stench of fecal matter. Aside from that, trash clutters the floor, every surface is sticky, fights breakout regularly.
11pm on a Saturday the bouncer wanted to clear the tables from the floor, which is fine, but they literally didn't give us a moment to gather our stuff to get out of the way. I watched the bouncer purposely shove the table across the floor into a person pinning them up against the wall because he didn't move fast enough for him. When we called out the bouncer for hitting the person with the table he said "Why do you care that I hit someone else with a table?" Honestly, I was speechless.
Should be your go-to industrial beer place in Albany. Outdoor tables out front. Sports TVs with formula1. Super sweet and kind bartender. Food left something to be desired.
Really bad service and experience. Food never arrived until like 1.5 hours and the bar is the worst. Don't even know how to respond, in fact no response! Just ignored the whole time. How the hell are first timers supposed to know anything if people serving there ignore you and dont respond. They acted like we didn't even exist!! This is the worst experience ever in Albany. Now food we went and ordered brunch like 30 minutes before the brunch menu was stopped. We didn't get our food for like 1.5 hours and we had to ask the waiter multiple times and the worst is we already paid for the food and we were done and wanted to leave but the waiter has been the only saving grace for this place. He got our food in under 15 minutes. Never visiting again! Maybe its been an unpleasant experience for me but when I am paying money for a service I at least expect the service provider to treat me like a human. Which is where this restaurant failed and the service especially the bar was the worst.
