Good service and big portions! It was really good and easy with children.
Best customer service. Fast pace staff and delicious food. Worth the wait.
The best place/diner/restaurant/anything in all of New York. The employees are all FANTASTIC. The menu is big. Prices aren’t cheap but you get a lot of food. Pancakes are the best. Sausage is the best. Everything is the best the energy and vibes are food are all so freaking good. You’ll be nice and warm if you come on a cold day. It’s very bright inside. They never rush you to leave.
No clue why this isn’t 5 stars all around. Great neighborhood breakfast that is basic…but basically delicious. We visit here once a week to sit outside and enjoy breakfast. We tend to get there between 10 and 11 am so that we don’t have to wait. Service is fast. Food is great. They actually make the hashbrowns extra crispy upon request! My go-to is the florentine omelet. Ice oatmeal milk latte is strong and tastes wonderful. Haven’t had anything but breakfast here, but it’s tasty enough to have this be our regular breakfast/brunch spot. No frills breakfast that is always divine!
Finally I found a great place for breakfast in New York! Nice interior, classic music, huge meal choices, quick and quality service (guys even easily changed some ingredients in my “salmon on the flatbread” according my taste) with reasonable prices. Only one disappointed- this’s my last day in NY ).
We found Clark’s over a year ago when first visiting Brooklyn. The review rating was high and it was so justified. Had to visit again and make the effort no matter where we were staying. Incredible food, very attentive service and a great area to sit outside and watch the world go by.
Consistently excellent brunch and flawless service. I’ve had brunch at Clark’s three times in the past month, and it’s been a hit every time. The service stands out—impeccably fast, precise, and genuinely attentive. You feel taken care of without ever being rushed. The food is also top-notch. I’ve tried the French toast and the New York breakfast—both were delicious, well-portioned, and beautifully executed. A reliable go-to for a classic, satisfying brunch in a welcoming setting.
Gem of a restaurant in Brooklyn Heights. I loved the neighborhood & diner feel of the place. Diner food but a touch more elevated than what you'd normally see. I ordered the panko crusted cod wrap (which I had earlier in the week but for take out) & pancakes. Come here with a hunger & be prepared to be satisfied all day long.
Fantastic breakfast. I can see why it was busy. That did not hinder our service though. About 4 minuets to be seated and really quick once ordered. We found this place purely by accident and where not disappointed. The portions where huge and we all struggled to finish. Not through choice as it was all beautiful. All reasonably priced. Wish we’d found sooner. A definite recommend.
Great place to eat in Brooklyn. Had a short wait to be seated as it was so popular. I had the Reuben and it was delicious
Clark’s is the perfect breakfast/brunch spot. The line outside on any given weekend is indicative of how good Clark’s is but usually deceptively big - you will never wait for long!! The staff here is so fast, so friendly, and provides amazing service every time. The food never misses. I almost always go for a vegetarian wrap or spicy feta wrap, and everything else I’ve tried has been great. Vibe is good, old school, classic New York.
This was a surprising positive experience. A restaurant still led by the owner! Very clean, impressive menu, good food and excellent service. In times when the American service and restaurant culture is more than disappointing - the Clark‘s Restaurant in Brooklyn is a shiny star example how it still can be made better. The only item is something out of the control of the owner - it is located at street corner in Brooklyn, not to busy but still noisy.
5 star experience here. My husband and I spent the morning and Brooklyn and heard about this restaurant as a good spot. Can confirm one of the absolute best breakfasts I’ve ever eaten. As a lover of smoked salmon, this was the best I’ve had. Can’t wait to be back!
The food was delicious and everyone who worked there was so kind and accommodating to all of us, including the kids.
Amazing brunch spot! Varied menu with all the favourites on, quick service, and great tasting food, they will normally make what you want. The rice pudding special desert is delicious, not too sweet and with a lot of cinnamon!
My first time here and I loved it! It has a very cozy Welcoming atmosphere. The owner/manager tends to every customer as soon as they walk in. The wait was not that long but I was told that it moves fairly quickly. The food has a great presentation. My favorite item on the menu were the pancakes!
I stopped by the first time today for a quick lunch since I was in the area doing jury duty. This is a very cute restaurant that is really clean. They have a pretty good menu with lots of options and is reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the food comes out fast and delicious. I will definitely stop by again the next time I am in the area.
Fantastic restaurant! There was a line to get a table but definitely worth it. Very good pancakes and very good milkshake. Nice staff who had an eye on everyone, the owner was very nice and it was impressive to see him working. You can tell he's been around for a while. The only minus was the noise level, but everything else clearly makes up for it. We will definitely stop by here again the next time we are in New York.
It was a day when I Needed a burger… a Pizza-Burger that is… It’s not on the current menu, you can Ask for it! I’ve been having them at Clark’s for decades! Quick, efficient waitstaff, and look~ magnificent, luscious, pizza burger!… deluxe with fries, tomatoes, and mesclun greens!😛 Def yumyum!
Great neighborhood diner with delicious food. I just wish they were open for Sunday supper. Pretty busy for brunch, but they move quickly. Food is good and affordable.
Had to leave a review...everyone from the host that seated us to all the servers was awesome and delightful. The food was AMAZING... had the Clark's breakfast wrap and blueberry pancakes... taste like home! My niece had the philly cheese steak sandwich and strawberry lemonade, which she couldn't stop talking about. It was rainy so outdoor seating was not available and seating inside is a bit cramped for the small space but the food was so good and everyone was so accommodating you forget where you are. We'll beeee baaaack!
Such a nice cute little restaurant just blocks away from Brooklyn bridge park! After having breakfast just walk a few blocks down and enjoy breath taking views of NYC. The staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. The manager/owner is nice and greets everyone treating them with respect. I absolutely loved the food! I got French toast, egg and cheese and it was amazing! The best tastiest French toast I’ve ever had. I’ve already gone twice and will definitely go back if I’m in the area and in want of a delicious breakfast. - Follow my Instagram Page @outtoeatnyc for the best NYC restaurant suggestions and reviews ! 🥂
My favorite diner! The atmosphere, menu and staff are exceptional. Love the chicken gyro and fries. The strawberry lemonade is refreshing and not too sweet. I live in Virginia and we always add at least 2 stops each year to visit and have a wonderful meal. 🍽️
Popped in for a Sunday breakfast at 11:30am ish with 2 friends. There was a small line but we didn’t have to wait longer than 15 minutes for a nice booth table inside. The owner/manager was super nice and actually came out and talked to eat waiting party and shared when we would be able to get a table. Ordered the garden omelette and shared a pancake which was super fluffy. The ambiance inside felt like the cozy neighborhood diner experience that I want for a weekend breakfast. Service was great, would easily visit again next time I’m in Brooklyn Heights
Quick one day trip to NYC- Brooklyn and visited Clarks. 1st time going here and if I’m ever in Brooklyn Heights this spot will be on my most definite to visit. Everything we ordered was soooo fresh and delicious. Hubby seemed not to be too enthusiastic about the fresh orange juice but my cafe latte and my sisters mancha drink was perfect. The salmon Benedict eggs with avocado on the potato cakes is truly the best I’ve had. I wish they would do the cinnamon-powder & butter sliced bread with the brioche bread instead but my sister loved it. Great restaurant, service and food! It’s a must go spot!
When I think of Clark's which I've gone to an abundance of times...I think of the amazingly fresh OJ and how there is always a wait. Expect good food in a tightly squeezed location. Expect efficiency and not necessarily a friendly wait staff. It is loud, crowded and one of my favorite places to have breakfast.
We had a great breakfast here. Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine and a Godfather chicken burger. Some coffees that were decent (for US coffee) and really good strawberry banana smoothies. It was busy, still the service was quick and friendly. The few loud American patrons add to the atmosphere ;)
We've eaten in Clarke's several times before on our travels. This is a vibrant restaurant at 80 Clarke St. Brooklyn. A widely varied menu, very reasonably priced for NYC. It's a very special place and always well supported. Many thanks.
After getting to Dumbo very early for the sunrise, it was great to stumble upon this place. We'd planned to do Time Out however so flag we found Clarks instead. We had the Pancakes and French Toast. Both were beautiful. Service very good as well!
Wonderful old school Brooklyn diner. We had breakfast food that was fantastic. Pancakes, French toast, bacon, all fantastic. Place is run like a machine. Non stop movement, no delay, food came quick and they were slammed. But when you’re done, we lingered and they didn’t try and rush you out. We’re from the City, and just seems like a solid neighborhood hang. The Host maybe owner seemed imposing, but was actually quite lovely and accommodating.
The food was amazing! I ordered a turkey avacado tomato omelet and my friend got eggs Benedict with corned beef. The service was super prompt, polite, and accurate. The bathrooms are clean. The room we were in was very bright, natural light, and well decorated. They do have outdoor seating.
When I walked by this lovely little spot the day before on a little Brooklyn adventure and saw their cute patio that had so many folks seated with their pups, I knew I had to check it out! I came back a couple of days later for breakfast. So quiet and calm and the vibe was exactly what you want to start your day! The staff was very kind and professional (I had a lovely conversation with my server) and the food ... WOW. I couldn't even eat half of it! Perfection from start to finish! *I ordered the Clark's Poached Eggs with Smoked Salmon that came on potato pancakes, with avo and holl sauce. I know.... An easy decision.
Food was good but I wouldn't say it was exceptional. Portions were of a good size and the place was extremely busy on a sunny March end weekend. Service was a bit slow due to the crowds. It took quite some time before we could get someone to take our orders but once they took the order the food didn't take too much time. It was just the second outing with our infant grandchild so we didn't linger for drinks or dessert. Just had a sandwich each and left.

We had a very nice lunch in Clark's. The staff were friendly, the food was good, service was good, all in a very relaxed atmosphere. I'd recommend.

Great suburban restaurant that does a great brunch which we thoroughly enjoyed. Solid service and a wide range of breakfast choices to choose from. Sit outside and enjoy watching the world slip by …
A fun dinner with a solid breakfast menu along with lunch/dinner options. I went with the signature Clark's breakfast burrito which was tasty. I also got a fruit smoothie, strawberry and banana, which complimented the savory meal. Service was quick and consistent throughout. A little small but they maximize the space with their seating.
Decent area with pretty good, fairly priced food. We sat outside and the a service was very slow. I wasn’t allowed to make swaps for turkey bacon even though it was the exact same price on the sides menu which was kind of weird. I’d probably go back some time, but it’s not super top of my list. A good spot for that neighborhood. The service was the only particularly bad part.
Clarks is located on the corner in a quaint neighborhood. It looks like a classic New York diner with wonderful ambience. I got seated right away for breakfast and ordered eggs over easy with sausage and my bf got the lite wrap. Nothing special in terms of ordering here but the food tasted fresh and clean. The home fries were tasty.
One of the few places with a vibe and good food in a 10 block radius. Nothing is mindblowing, but it's solid. The service is extra friendly, the waitstaff there are really quite nice and accommodating, even when it's clearly bustling. Nice neighborhood spot.
Dined in during a rush and was treated with respect and care. The food was very good and came out quickly. My server was overwhelmed and didn’t say a word to us but other than that, the job was done correctly and the rest of the staff was kind so overall experience is 4/5 for me.
A typical Brooklyn restaurant experience. It took us more than 20 minutes to find a parking spot, but we eventually made it. The menu is extensive, offering plenty of options at fairly reasonable prices. The food portions were generous, though nothing particularly remarkable. Overall, a pleasant visit with a clean setting and friendly staff.
Update: on a recent visit the servers seemed to ignore us for 30 mins before giving us a check even after we asked twice. Strange for a pretty small restaurant! Lovely spot nestled into Brooklyn Heights, conveniently located if youre around and always popular for brunch on weekends. The food quality is good, though relatively standard for diner style brunch. I liked their french toast and omelettes. When there was a bee flying around the staff took care of it very quickly, which was cool.
Great food although a little expensive. wasn't too busy when i went there for lunch on a weekday but i heard it gets busy on the weekends for brunch. I had the eggs benedict and a cookie and both were super good. I would have given it a higher score but the waiter was never around and the people next to us were so loud that people around us kept staring and making comments but the staff did nothing to address this.
$$$blueberry pancakes Delicious though! Was not impressed with the $$egg whites. My company all enjoyed their food. We went because one of them is a regular. If you eat meat and dairy, you would love this spot. I don't eat meat or dairy and it was my first time at Clark's. I think it's pricey but what's not in this current climate. Service was decent. The atmosphere way okay. Lunch hour busy. Family friendly. Nice for dates. Children allowed! It's a winner for sure! Glad any business is still operating during this hard times, so I'll return when next I'm in the area to try the salmon Check them out if you want a hearty breakfast. Some pictures included

This place came recommended as a favourite of a local friend. I do wish they served potato pancakes with apple sauce, however… but I had an excellent grilled cheese sandwich with gruyere cheese. …
I would usually give this place a five out of five. I’ve been a regular for over a year since moving into the dorms across the street. The food is consistently amazing, and the service is usually excellent. However, my most recent experience forced me to lower my rating. There is a waiter who has served me twice now, and both times, his behavior was extremely rude. He forgot several items from my order and brought me the wrong drink order, and when I politely asked for them again, he responded with a blatant attitude. Despite my efforts to be courteous and introduce myself, he did not tell us his name or respond to anything my boyfriend and I said. We would say thank you, and he would just give us a blank stare. When I dine out, I expect at least decent service. Given the number of times I've come here, I was hoping for better. This negative experience has made me reluctant to return. If you encounter a waiter with both arms covered in tattoos, I would recommend dining elsewhere.
Clark's has a great neighborhood vibe when you walk in -- one of those places you know that people have been coming to for years -- and the staff is really friendly. We decided to keep it simple and got two of the traditional breakfast dishes: two plates of eggs, one with sausage and the other with corned beef hash. The prices were right and both were tasty (especially the sausage), but a bit too salty. Two things to avoid: I) The home fries were a bit bland, so I'd recommend swapping them out for something else. II) the orange juice tasted like it was diluted, which was disappointing given that it was pretty expensive ($5).
This place lives off it's past greatness. The waiting area is first come first served, unless you are a regular who get to skip the line and can place their drink order early. Our server was not good. Took a while, rude and forgetful. Pictures will show you everything. Try to find the sunny side up eggs, none they brought me omelet. Yes taste was good. The place is super loud and it sounds like dishes are being broken every 5 minutes. For the amount you are paying and the tip that is required you can find other near by places. I am giving 3 stars because the food was good.
The food is not bad, but it is definitely hyped up as I saw nothing special about this place. Came because the place was recommended to me by a local friend, but you can honestly find food like this in any of the diners near where you live. The vibe is pretty classy for a diner however. Service is what makes up for the average food—all the waiters greeted me and my company with a smile and seated us right away despite their busy tasks. Not a bad restaurant—would recommend that you go for a quick brunch with a close friend or a date if you happen to be nearby or are a resident in Brooklyn. I just personally wouldn't bring myself all the way here just for the food 🙂
First time trying this diner as the queue is always really long once 10am hits. Unfortunately I really disliked my food: scrambled eggs & bacon with 'house potatoes'. The eggs were almost inedible, flat and dry on the outside, slimy and cold on the inside. I wonder if they may have been that liquid egg stuff you can buy, or maybe just bulk made and left under a heat lamp. Either way, did not taste good at all. The potatoes similarly were an odd texture, like mashed potatoes with onions and peppers in. If they had been fried there wasn't much evidence of it. The bacon was ok. Service was excellent, and it's a bustling, obviously popular neighborhood spot. I'd be willing to try it again, and hope that meal was a one off.
We came here based on reviews and lined up outside to be seated. We waited around 15 minutes and was hosted and welcomed in a friendly manner. The menu was great but the food was not so good. The eggs were just tossed with no presentation and slapped on the plate. Caffeinated drinks were amazing and as for my friends orange juice, they said it was not good. Pancakes were amazing. But we were really hungry and wanted good tasting food.
The restroom could be much cleaner... quality of food not good. If u r looking for the typical American diner low quality food this is ur place to go. If u want sth healthier stay away. Tons of whip cream, cheap milk used for the smoothies, horrible hollandaise sauce... won't try this one again.
Would have loved to eat here, but they refused to make my order. I requested the chicken parmesan, except I wanted alfredo sauce instead of marinara. After I ordered the manager came to my table and said the kitchen would not do that. I explained that I wanted the breaded chicken cutlet from the chicken parmesan, except I wanted alfredo on the pasta instead of marinara. They flatly refused. They offered fettuccine Alfredo with a side of chicken tenders. When I asked why I couldn't get the culet, I was told they just wouldn't do it. I was willing to pay for the change, but that didn't matter. I've never heard of such a refusal! Very disappointed. Ended up finishing my hot chocolate and moving to another restaurant for my meal.
Unfortunately, most of the stuff we hot was either soggy or just very cold. The steaks were okay. The calamari was not crispy nor hot at all. All of our eggs were very average. I did love the fries though. Service was great and the vibe of the place is sweet. Overall, we were REALLY disappointed with the food.
Order breakfast daily. After 3 times in a row part of my order is missing, I finally call the store to see what is going on. The person who answers refused to rectify the situation and even decided to blame me. Will not be ordering again.
I came home from work early 3pand thought I would treat myself to some pancakes and Clarks, my dad loved this place but my treat from Clark was a roach set atop my pancakes like he belong there with my powdered sugar and extra butter Was he in the batter? Did he fall from somewhere either way I’m disgusted and will not eat there again.
The food was good, but the service was honestly ridiculous. I politely asked one staff member if I could move to another table, they said yes, so my friend and I carried all our things — even the water and cutlery — by ourselves. Then another staff member suddenly waved at me in the rudest way possible and demanded, “Who told you to sit here?” I explained that I had asked and was told yes, but they still questioned me like I was lying: “Did they really say yes?” — complete with an unpleasant face. Great food, but if the staff can’t even communicate with each other and choose to treat customers this way, it really ruins the whole experience 🙃
Stodgy low-quality food, served on different plates, not even on one, smoked salmon was the worst I ever eaten and undercooked poached eggs and the potatoes for breakfast were just a bad idea. Coffee less than mediocre and all this topped up by plastic glasses and filthy toilets. Definitely not recommended. Oh and we paid $40 per person for this privilege… shame the staff is so lazy and cannot cook and clean.
I don’t know why this place is rated so highly when everything is mediocre and if not, just not great at all. I ordered the blueberry pie pancakes, which came with jalapeño in the pancake batter. Disgusting. The pancakes were nothing but plain with the blueberries all to the center of the pancake. If I wanted diner quality food, I would go to one. I wouldn’t recommend this place for brunch or breakfast. A blueberry pie pancake stack for $16 is ridiculous when it looks like a $5 plate.
Not sure what the hype is all about - either this place used to be good or the reviews are all fake (and paid for). The service was not good - they seemed to be short staffed but it took a long time to order, ask for anything, or pay our check. They were hurried and hardly took the time to respond to our questions. Also, the dishes were dirty - my water glass had orange pulp congealed on the side, and the plates were crusty. They brought creamer for my coffee and had orange juice all over it. Also, the coffee was served spilled in the saucer and had stains on the mug. It was disgusting and unappetizing. The food was also very mediocre. We will not come back and don’t recommend this place.
