Opinions de Potluck Club Albee Square
If there’s a restaurant that can perfectly capture the Cantonese American experience, it’d be Potluck. It’s not Cantonese food, but a new genre of Cantonese American food. I love everything here. The nostalgic vibe, the innovative cooking, the reminiscence of home and the excitement of discovery. The curry tofu is seriously one of the best in the city, creamy, silky smooth and flavorful. There’s nothing like it!
Everything here was great - we loved all of the dishes we got, especially the rice roll noodles. The service was prompt and super attentive, even took a great photo for us! The place itself gets busy so make sure to get a reservation! They can also accommodate some dishes to make them vegan/vegetarian!
So much love for the Potluck Club! I’m an event planner who coordinated an event at Potluck Club for a group of high-level corporate clients. We did a buyout and I could not have been more pleased with every aspect. Cory was amazing to work with as we planned and no detail was overlooked. The food was incredible - delicious, beautiful and plentiful. The whole Potluck team went above and beyond from a service standpoint and took great care of our group. My clients, and all attendees, were delighted with the experience, which says a lot because they are in the food and hospitality business. Big fan and highly recommend! *pic is of our yummy dessert.
This was my first time here, and I instantly fell in love with both the vibes and the food. I walked in, put my name on the waitlist, and luckily got seated right away. Once seated, we started with appetizers and wow!! Berkshire pork & chive potstickers are a must-order ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ super juicy inside with crispy skin, topped with a special homemade chili oil. Endive salad is also a must ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ so refreshing, with dragon fruit and a perfectly balanced dressing. For mains, we ordered: Salt & pepper chicken with scallion biscuits—crispy chicken served with scallion biscuits might sound unusual, but the combination is amazing, especially with the dipping sauce and pickled jalapeños. Tiger shrimp with candied walnuts ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (100/10!)—my absolute favorite. So flavorful and delicious, served with fried romanesco cauliflower. For drinks, we had the Golden Bee and Crouching Tiger both paired beautifully with the food. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly. The vibe is cozy and charming, giving a classic theater feel mixed with a modern atmosphere. This may have been my first visit, but it definitely won’t be my last. I already can’t wait to come back and try more dishes.
Incredible truly. I’m in management for high-end, Michelin star restaurants it’s difficult to impress me throughout the entire experience. Nothing here missed from the moment we walked in, up until we were walking out: the management, servers, and food runners were welcoming and kind (on a busy holiday too which I give a lot of props to), the food was incredible- flavors and textures spot on and came out timely and hot, and the space itself was so fun and intentional and spoke to the pride that they have for what they serve and do. This will be a place I recommend frequently to my patrons, and I can’t wait to go back!
Overview: Come for the excellent, elevated yet authentic Chinese cuisine, stay for the chill vibes, decor and pleasant service. A completely recommend checking out Potluck Club when in Chinatown or in need of a nice yet chill dining experience. Food: 4.5/5 The dishes came out pretty quickly and the portion sizes were shareable. Everything was pretty delicious with robust, satisfying flavors. Yes the price point is steeper than a mom and pop restaurant in Chinatown but the overall experience justifies the costs. We ordered: Braised Short Rib, Oyster Mushroom Noodles, Spicy Eggplant and Tiger Shrimp. No regrets on any of those items and I'm looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu. In terms of adult beverages I had the Puffed Rice Chinese Pale Ale and it was really delectable. I general don't go for Pale Ale but this one was very smooth with notes of fruits. Service: 5/5 We were well taken care of by all. Even the bartender helped out by picking up one of our napkins that fell on the floor. Ambiance: 5/5 The decor is excellent and makes the environment welcoming for dining with friends, a chill date, etc. Evening the dining ware is pleasing. Did I check out the plate manufacturer? I sure did. They're excellently designed (if sleek and modern is your style) and hefty.
Probably our favorite restaurant in the city! Every-time we go, we eat off the whole menu family style. Every dish is flavorful and service is great. I highly recommend the fried rice and the fried chicken with extraaa scallion biscuits! Service is great and welcoming. Cant wait to go back for dinner again.
Honestly one of my favorite restaurants in nyc if not my favorite. Every single thing is perfect. Food is amazing , can’t go wrong with any dish because they are all that good. Atmosphere is amazing from the decor of the place to the awesome playlists that constantly doesn’t miss. But the most important part of it all is the service. They just don’t serve you like you’re just a customer, they serve you like you’re family. Immaculate service. 10 out of 10, HIGHLY Recommend.
I had my birthday dinner there and worked with Kim to get every detail right. Kim was very prompt to answer any questions or changes I had. Also, she made sure that my night was perfect. The music was spot on and my guests could not stop raving about the food. Thank you Kim and the whole Potluck Club team for an amazing birthday dinner.
Went here with some friends and it didn’t disappoint. The potstickers have sooo much flavor. The filling is excellent and the oil/sauce with garlic and green onions was sick. The thing I really wanted from here was the salt and pepper chicken and biscuits. It was packed with flavor! The plum chili sauce was such a nice compliment and I made a little sandwich because…that’s what I do. It was so damn good and I can see myself going back with people for sure!
Like how the restaurant has two bars - one towards the front, another in the back. Lighting was too bright - felt cafeteria-y. The biscuits were great - fried chicken slightly stringy and hard to chew. The endive salad dressing was delicious and the pot stickers were the best thing we ate. Order food to split. They have a strict hour and a half policy and kicked us out of our table, which feels a bit tough as it felt rushed. Might come back to sit at the counter and split the pot stickers and one cocktail.
Really cool restaurant with great atmosphere. The food was all really tasty, but the portion sizes were a little bit small, probably meant for sharing many many dishes, but I liked everything especially the dumplings and rice cakes. I definitely come back here, I think that a more traditional older Asian grandparent might not love this place, but it really hits home for the category of Asian Americans that want something a little different. Also, they have fortune cookies in a really cool display case and the owner works there and was super friendly.
I came here for dinner with friends one evening and we had a great time here. The inside of the restaurant is a fun modern take on Cantonese culture and popular media. Service here is nice and quick. My friends and I ordered their potstickers, cold noodles, crudo, fried rice, short rib, tofu curry, and salt and pepper fried chicken. Everything was delicious, a good portion, and super flavorful. Although I did think it was really fun to try the different fusion dishes, I wish there was a bit more depth to dishes such as the curry and the short rib. Overall, not a bad spot for fusion Chinese food!
Have been wanting to try more HK style 餐厅! Food was pretty good here. Got brunch with a party of 4. The menu is pretty diverse and can cater to most people. I really enjoyed the endive salad with the salt&pepper chicken and the HK style french toast. I feel like a lot of the sandwiches were pretty standard - not a standout but tasted mostly like a regular sandwich with some asian flavors. The most flavorful dish was the potluck chow mein, felt like everyone really enjoyed that one across the table. Generally wasn’t as amazing as I expected but was still great food! Interior is well decorated and clean, staff were also super friendly and accommodating!
I've been waiting for so long to try this place and had pretty high hope for it. The food was not bad at all but it wasn't enough for us to be "Wow". And with the price like that I expected something more. The customer service was really good there. All the staffs are friendly and helpful. Love the decorations and the creative in every corners. I might come back to try different dishes next time but for now the food wasn't worth the hype. My favorite one was the Stir-fried thick noodles with oyster mushrooms.
I really wanted to like this place. I've had a bookmarked for a long time and finally got a chance to check it out. There were only two of us, and we ordered the rice rolls, the xo fried rice, and the crispy drunk chicken. The rice rolls and chicken were decent; but we weren't wow-ed by them, and the fried rice was a big disappointment, and we felt that the corn tasted overcooked, as the texture was tough. I do want to mention that the service here was top notch, though. Everyone that we interacted with was gracious and helpful. We just were hoping to be more impressed with the food. I'm glad a tried it, and if someone I was with wanted to check it out, I wouldn't be opposed to going back; but I'm not looking for a reason to go back, either.
