We got our food to go, but would have sat inside if we didn’t need to be someplace shortly after our stop in. We got the wheat noodles with peanut butter sauce and the pork and chive dumplings and with tip it was $10 for two people for lunch! What a bargain. The noodles were delightful and we added the leftover dumpling sauce, had we ate there I would have added Sriracha to it and it would have been perfect. The dumplings were crisp and steaming hot and delicious, though they did short us one so we only got seven instead of the eight we ordered. Make sure you count before you leave! We will be back and dine in to enhance our experience.
PEAK cheap NYC chinatown dumplings and noodles. Simple, quick, DELICIOUS, and most importantly, CHEAP compared to everything in NYC. Love their steamed and fried dumplings, great texture, tasty fillings. The soup is boiling hot that I had to wait 10 minutes to air it out. Service would be what you’d expect from a Chinatown place that they’d serve cheap food, appreciate it!
Man does this place really live up to the hype!! Kept seeing it all over social media and I knew I had to check it out. Busy is an understatment, line was almost out the door. Places was packed, but ordered online and still got in and got our food in under 10 mins which is impressive. The food smelt so good we couldn't wait to dig in. Took a few bites in the car and immediatly fell in love. I have never tasted dumplings this good. It's like they have it down to a science. The pork and chive are star steller and the peanut noodle and bao buns are on par with them. I would out of my way to eat here any chance I got!!
Absolutely delicious food and quick service. BRING CASH! It’s very busy inside but it’s common for you to ask to sit at a table with other people if seats are open. I got the wheat noodles with peanut butter sauce and vegetable dumplings for $8.25! Wow such a steal. I’m vegetarian and with my two dishes I left full and satisfied. My friend recommended the wheat noodles vs the thick rice noodles because she thinks they soak up the sauce more and I was happy with them! I’m sure personal preference factors into preferred noodle type. No frills place, but can’t beat the price or the flavor here. I think it’s worth the hype
I came here for lunch with a few friends who have never tried Fuzhounese food before. We ordered fried dumplings, steamed dumplings, peanut butter noodles, wonton soup, and fish ball soup. We all enjoyed the food and left super full. The prices are very affordable, we only spent $35 for a total of 4 people. There are a good amount of tables and also a bathroom for customers. I definitely will be coming back here soon!
A community gathering- both the chinese and the non chinese all convene and everyone sits together and shares the hot sauces and are nice to each other sharing hot dumplings on a cold day asking where each other is from. I love the scene. We need more of this type of place in New York. Obviously you can’t beat the freshness and price of these dumplings and noodles
Super yummy! I got the 10 piece chicken and chives dumplings for $5 ($3.5 for 5) and peanut noodles for $3.5. Both tasted EXTREMELY fresh and handmade. Noodles could've used a little more salt, but that's a personal preference, I just added some soy sauce. The warmth and heat were welcome on a cold rainy rainy day. It's a little chaotic and congested inside but it adds to the charm. People are always coming and going so if you've got an eagle eye you might be able to snag a table. Despite the line, it's not a long wait. Will definitely be coming back!!! Note: cash only
I came here on a Tuesday night, just stumbling into it, and it was hard to find a seat, that’s how I knew it was going to be good. I ate the wheat noodles with peanut butter sauce and tried some of my friend’s steamed vegetable dumplings. Both exceeded my expectations. The food looks delicious because it is. I spent a total of $4.50 on the noodles and a bottle of water. This place is cash only so come prepared. Great and quick counter service. The atmosphere is not very cozy or inviting but when the food is as good and affordable as it is here it doesn’t matter. Counting down the days I’ll get to go again. Highly recommend in general and for a quick and tasty meal.
Cash only! I tried the peanut butter noodles and fried pork dumplings with only $8.25 —both were great deals and super satisfying. The noodles were springy with a light, savory peanut sauce, simple but filling. The dumplings stole the show: crispy bottoms, juicy pork inside, and perfect with vinegar soy sauce. No-frills, hearty flavors, and unbeatable prices make this spot a go-to for quick, comforting eats. Me Asian approved!
I paid $8 total for both the dumplings and the peanut noodles. I waited no more than 5 minutes to get my order — the service is very efficient. The noodles are definitely worth it, and the portion is filling. The dumplings are delicious, and so is their sauce. There’s no table service and the restaurant is crowded, but once you taste the food, you understand why. I’ll definitely be back!
Shu Jiao Fu Zhou is a standout culinary gem tucked away in New York’s Chinatown, delivering authentic Fuzhou flavors with unbeatable value. Visitors consistently rave about the steamed dumplings and pork & chive dumplings, praised for being juicy, flavorful, and affordable. Many have pointed out that even during rush hour, service is impressively swift—one diner mentioned being in and out within five minutes. The peanut butter noodles are another fan favorite, striking a perfect balance between savory and comforting. Several reviewers mentioned how these dishes transported them back to their childhood in China, which speaks volumes about the authenticity. The restaurant’s prices—often under $10—make it a haven for food lovers on a budget. One guest exclaimed their meal was cheaper than a latte, and another said they could feast for less than $20. Despite being packed most of the time, customers appreciate the fast service and piping hot food. While the atmosphere varies in reviews—some find it cozy, others note it could be cleaner—the food consistently earns top marks. There’s also a cash-only policy, so visitors should come prepared. Critique: The only downside? Their official website seems to be down, which is inconvenient for those looking to preview the menu or plan their visit. Hopefully, they get that fixed soon.

When we walked in, there was a long line, but it moved quickly. I only waited about 5–7 minutes to order. They have signs on the wall saying you should know your order before stepping up and clean up after yourself, but I noticed a lot of people don’t really pay attention to that — so just be prepared. What I ordered: Wheat Noodles with Peanut Sauce (#5) – It was good, but I wish the sauce was thicker and more buttery so it would coat the noodles better. It was a bit watery, so the sauce kept sliding off when I picked up the noodles. Adding the chili oil from the table definitely helped improve the flavor. Small Pork-Filled Fish Ball Soup (#11) – Pretty good overall. The broth was clean and hot (though it cooled down quickly). The fish balls tasted like real fish paste, not the powdery hotpot-style. Overall, it was a good experience — two dishes for under $10 is hard to beat. Service was quick and efficient as long as you’re ready to order without hesitation. Also, it’s cash only.
one of the best places to be. for sure try the gyoza and the peanut butter noodles...i dont realy like peanut butter but that sauce was really nice...in general NYC doesnt have good places to eat but in chinatown everything is cheap and nice. be prepared cause the store only takes cash
I ordered the $3 peanut noodles, $5 gyoza and $3 pork dumplings! The food was good in general, well cook, good portions for the price. I personally like more flavor in my food but I encourage you to give it a try! This is a busy business so there might be a line and a man at the cashier who is loud and hyperactive. I honestly don’t believe they mean to be rude they just try to keep a flow in the business! The crew will help you with everything you need if you ask them.
I was recommended to stop by to experience some authentic Chinatown experience. It’s amazing how they can maintain the price. Obviously, this restaurant isn’t going to offer cream of crop Chinese cuisine experience. However, I was impressed by the quality of the food given the price. To be clear, the quality of the food is going to resemble that of a food truck. But there’s no other place that beats their price.
CASH ONLY 💵 that’s the biggest inconvenience!!! No cards 💳 No Zelle, No Venmo But no Tax either! You pay exactly the same amount listed on the menu. Very busy Quick service like a fast food place. Food tastes delicious 🤤 Very cheap prices. One of the best cheap eats yet filling portions. Modest atmosphere obviously.
Very good price/quality ratio! I tried the pork dumplings, which were really juicy and they came with this delicious sauce. The service is also really quick. I think the food was done like 2 minutes after I ordered or sum. It isn´t the coziest place where you sit down and enjoy your food, but it´s fine for a quick bite.
This definitely is a go-to for the quintessential Chinese dumpling in Chinatown. Lots of food for $5.00-$6.00, fresh, the original fast food! We ordered noodles in peanut sauce, won ton soup, and of course , dumplings, each order with a healthy supply of dumplings: 🥟pork chive dumplings (fried), vegetable dumplings (steamed) and shrimp, chive and egg (steamed) dumplings. Altogether with tax -$32.00! This isn’t your gourmet, fancy dumpling place - this is your nice portions size of decent dumplings on a budget place. The won ton soup and peanut butter noodles were okay too and as much as we enjoyed the shrimp, chive and egg dumplings - we deconstructed to confirm - no shrimps were actually used in the dumplings - so, truthfully, the chive and egg dumplings were delicious! 😋

We tried to go here a couple of weeks ago, but the line was long and we were very hungry, so we left. Good news was that today the line was short, but ended up pretty long by the time we left. It seemed to move quickly though. They also have plenty of tables, so by the time you order one is usually available before your food is ready. Given the lines, I was expecting the food to be better. We got a #1a and a #11. The noodles and meat in 1a were ok, but not great. The broth wasn’t super flavorful. I’m not sure if it’s what we ordered, but this was probably the first place from the infatuation best noodles in nyc place where we said we don’t need to come back. Note, I love spicy food. Like really, really spicy. They didn’t really have anything spicy, minus the chili oil, which isn’t even spicy. It also was one of the most unappetizing things I have seen in a while. I am not sure how long it was been there, but I think it has more nastiness in it than bob Marley’s hair. I am not sure what the red sauce is, but it isn’t sriracha.
Tasty and cheap but the flavors were a bit off my personal preference. Ordered the fried pork and chive dumplings and a hot and sour soup for $8.50. It would be more accurate to describe it as a chive and little bit of pork dumpling. Too much chive to pork ratio. I get it, you get what you pay for, and for that price it makes sense. You can see from the picture that it's mostly green. Other stores with more pork in them charge closer to $8. I just prefer a meatier dumpling. The hot and sour soup had decent flavor but wasn't sour, hot or salty enough so I added some of the readily available vinegar, soy sauce and chili paste. Not too busy at 10:30am but when I left at 10:45 it there was about a 6 person line.
Good cheap dumplings. But the noodle soups were straight up ~meh~ the broth was so flavorless I had to add multiple spoonfuls of chili oil and it still wasn’t good. The noodles were way too soft. The beef pieces and tripe really saved this dish. Go for the dumplings. Pork and chive were good. Super juicy. The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon at 2:45 pm. Nowhere to sit. Insane line. Luckily we sat across from two nice people which made it worthwhile. So many other less crowded and more delicious places to go in Chinatown. This isn’t a place that you need to visit. Skip it!
I don’t know where else you can find $5 dumplings plate that tasted good and served on the spot ! The chives and shrimp ones are yummy. We ordered 3 different types. The fried ones tasted the best. The chicken ones are so so. All good value. It was a mistake trying the beef tribe noodles - couldn’t eat it. The minced beef in the noodles soup also not to my liking. I’m a big fan of fish balls but fuzhou fishball has a gluey texture that I do not like. I also don’t care for the filling or flavor. The lines are long (between 6-8pm). It’s like the happening place for pre party and college kids, tourists etc it’s cheap. Portions are surprisingly decent. Cash only. ATM machine right there if you need cash.
It pains me to say this, but the food was really lacking. I thought the hot and sour soup was gonna be a hit. It was neither hot nor sour. The fried pork and chive dumplings were tasteless and semi-cold. The final plate was for the buckwheat noodles with peanut sauce. The noodles were OK. There was totally not enough peanut sauce coating the noodles. It didn't help that everyone that ordered their food after me got their orders ahead of me. I really wanted to like this place, but I really didn't. The only saving grace for this place was they didn't charge a whole lot for the food.
