Food is top notch. Best cold noodles I had in Ktown. The kalbi is grilled over an open flame instead of pan fried. It is way better grilled. The kimchi mandoo is huge and delicious. They were very busy and service was lacking a bit but I don't hold it against them other than really rushing everything when we asked for stuff. Atmosphere is very typical fast casual Asian eatery but the did food is worth it.
incredible naengmyun, love the atmosphere it almost feels like a cabin in there. plus self serve broth and fast service! great banchan too. i’d go back for the self serve broth alone but i loved everything about this place!
A no frills restaurant but comes with solid naengmyun (cold Korean noodles) that hits on a hot day. The broth is perfectly seasoned that it doesn’t really need vinegar, and the flavor of the red sauce becomes more concentrated as you get to the bottom of the bowl. The galbi was flavorful and tender, a go to spot if in the area
This place specializes in Korean cold noodles but there's also classics such as stone-pot Bibimbap, Bulgogi, Galbi, amongst others. Service was fast and efficient, the ambiance was cozy and welcoming and the food itself was really good. I had the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and it was great. Highly recommended place.
Update May 2025 After trying the Buena Park location, I had to come back and make sure it was just the location and not the whole franchise that went downhill. Happy to say, the KTown location is still serving up great self service broth and cold noodles! We also tried the beef tofu soup, which was a bit light on flavor but edible. The gal I was tasty, but had a few very fatty and chewy pieces that were an issue. We got lucky with parking, but can definitely be an issue when busy. Service was friendly for a Korean restaurant, which is always nice. Will have to come back for the giant dumpling and noodles the table next to us were eating :) ——- Second time trying this place and have to say I’m happy I came back. First time I was underwhelmed with the neng myun, which they are known for but loved the free beef bone broth so much, I thought I would come back and try some of their other hot soup dishes. Well there were three of us (mom and sis) so we decided to order three dishes and share. Neng myun with kalbi combo, spicy neng myun and hand cut noodles with clam. The two neng myun dishes were excellent. Much. Enter than my first trip. The hand cut noodles were also really very good. The only mediocre item was the kalbi. Nothing special and a bit fatty. Why 5 stars then? The free broth! It’s truly amazing. I might just order noodles next time and pour in some free broth :) Service was also pretty amazing, especially for a Korean restaurant 😜😮
A must whenever visiting LA! The complimentary broth takes me back to my childhood. I could live off of that broth! Mmmmmm. The nengmyun (cold noodles) are the best! The kimchi mandu/dumplings are also a must. Love love love this restaurant! Please know that this is an OG Korean restaurant so you won’t get the five star service at more modern places but if yo want some authentic Korean noodles, this is your place!
What a gem of a korean restaurant! I have been craving some cold noodles (물냉면) since I left Korea. I finally found this place and it was so good!! The flavor and seasoning were immaculate, and the waitresses were so kind! Highly recommend if you want some good Korean food in a warm and welcoming place!
The go-to spot by many people for Korean cold noodles, Naengmyeon. The broth is so flavorful and refreshing. The noodles are super chewy. Perfect choice for a hot summer day. They also have complimentary broth on tap that you can help yourself to. There's always people here but the lines are usually not too bad especially for Ktown.
Yuchun has quickly been my new go to restaurant especially since it’s been so hot in LA! Hot weather definitely calls for cold noodles 🤤 Their naengmyun is so incredibly refreshing and satisfying!! 🍽️ Ordered: 1. Kalbi + Chic naengmyun (Korean cold noodles with sliced beef in a cold ice broth) 2. Chic Bibim naengmyun (sliced beef and vegetables over noodles with spicy sauce) 3. Kimchi Mandu (kimchi dumplings) 4. Mandugook (kimchi dumplings in soup) I love how this restaurant provides complimentary bone broth because it’s such a nice touch! The broth helps when you have a big appetite and are ready to eat🤣 I love putting black pepper in the broth for extra flavor. The chic mul naengmyun (cold noodles with broth) was by far my favorite because the noodles were extra cold and the radish soup added SO much flavor!!! I preferred that one over the chic bibim naengmyun (dry buckwheat noodles with spicy sauce) since that one didn’t have any soup. I absolutely love the combo of cold buckwheat noodles with kalbi since the acidity of the noodles pairs perfectly with the fatty and charred meat. Btw make sure you cut the noodles before eating because I almost choked when I was eating fast 🤣🥹 This place is def a 15/10!!!
Yuchun is my go to spot for Korean noodles and dumplings in Los Angeles. I must note in advance though that the service is not that great. Essentially, this restaurant is a great example of a restaurant serving amazing food but lacks in service. If you are asian, I am sure you can think of a handful of restaurants like this. Regardless however, I can almost guarantee, that you will find yourself coming back for the food. Yuchun is known for their cold noodles, whether this is their mul naengmyeon (물냉면) or bibim naengymyeon (비빔냉면). The main difference between the two is one is served with a cold broth* and the other is served with a cold sweet and spicy, red sauce. *In case you are not familiar with how to eat mul naengmyeon, you are generally given vinegar and horseradish to season your cold broth to your taste. The white vinegar gives the broth a tanginess and the yellow horseradish sauce is there to give it a little kick if you like spicy foods. Do note that horseradish sauce is in essence what is used to create wasabi. If you add too much it will affect your nasal cavity first. Yuchun is also known for their (김치왕만두) or giant steamed kimchi dumplings. I absolutely love these dumplings and would 10/10 recommend! The restaurant sells its frozen dumplings by the bag so you can purchase them if you would like. While you are there, do not forget to take advantage of the self service hot broth offered. It’s called yooksoo (육수), or savory beef stock. People typically drink this before eating the cold noodles. In case you needed further elaboration regarding my note above, this location gets pretty packed during the day and the staff is understaffed, with the more skilled kitchen workers occasionally not being present, leading to Yuchun being “sold out” of menu items. Service may also be a bit worse to guests who do not speak Korean as the hired staff are generally Korean and/or speak limited English. If service is king for you, you may not like this restaurant. However, I highly recommend you to at least try the food before making a verdict. (By the way, the noodles at this location are better than the ones at the new location that opened up in Buena Park).
My father in law had his 95 birthday dinner here. He picked this place bc loves their nangmyeon. They also have self served hot beef broth as a drink which I haven't seen locally in a long time.
Went with a friend and got the spicy cold noodles. It was very good! I’d definitely come here again
Cool and taste good. It's usually better to eat it with naengmyeon(cold noodle) and kimchi jeon(korean kimchi pizza), but it was a pity to hear that they don't make kimchi jeon anymore. Two people went and ate two bowls of naengmyeon, so the impression of the wait staff was not good. It may be a personal opinion.
No frills, good food, get in get out kinda place. They have a self serve hot broth station which we tried while we waited for our food - pretty good broth. We got the Galbi + Naengmyeon Combo (cold noodles and ribs), another and kimchi dumplings. It was too much food for 2 people, we could have just shared the combo with the kimchi dumplings. I didn't realize how big the Naengmyeon bowl was. The kimchi dumplings were also huge so we definitely left with a full belly. The kimchi wasn't over powering in the dumplings either and the filling was good. I would have cut the noodles more for the Naengmyeon, almost choked at one point lol. They accept credit cards, 1 card per table.
I brought a friend who was visiting from out of town to try their naengmyun since the weather was heating up. It was my third visit, but I feel like the flavor hasn’t been as strong with each return. I remember when people used to line up to eat here, but this time it wasn’t busy at all—we were seated right away, though no utensils or water were brought out at first. The kimchi mandoo tasted a bit bitter, but the naengmyun itself was refreshing and enjoyable. My friend especially loved the self-serve hot broth, which was a nice touch.
Korean style cold noodle - Naengmyeon is a main menu in this restaurant. I went to eat lunch. Parking space was so small and no ballet parking available. So I had waited for long time to park. When I got in, there were lots of people. The staff asked to sit at a table. However I recognized later it was for the disabled. Omg I ordered 2 cold noodles and Galbi. It took more than 20mins due to lots of orders. Cold broth noodle- tasted too sweet. Seemed like lots of sugar inside Mixed spicy noodle- sweet and spicy, so tasted not bad Galbi- marinated beef galbi tasted good overall. However it was too salty and some pieces were tough to eat. Broth- self service. Tasted good, seemed MSG added a lot Price was increased a lot since pandemic. If you want to eat Korean cold noodle easy, it can be a good option. However it won’t give you authentic Korean cold noodles- Naengmyeon.
I'm a pretty frequent regular to Yuchun with my fiancée. We go constantly and it's always been consistently great we also tip really well. Unfortunately for the first time ever one of the hostess (not the nice one in glasses) served us our check rudely not even 5 minutes into sitting down. The restaurant was also pretty empty since this was right at opening on a weekday. This has never happened before and I do not think I will come back due to that. I also did not tip due to our check being served that early along with the rudeness of this hostess.
