Snowshoe Bar & Grill is praised for its impressive selection of hand-crafted beers and friendly staff, especially Misty. However, some customers report slow service, inconsistent food quality, and a run-down atmosphere. The beer is generally well-received.

Ordered 2 take n bake pizzas during dinner rush. Pizzas came out in 30 min, enough time for a tasty beer. Cooked according to instructions and they were delicious. Bratzilla had some spice to it and Blizzard was very tasty. Staff was doing their best during a very busy rush. No complaints from us
This was recommended by one of the volunteers at the Big Trees, and sooo glad we stopped by. Everything was super top notch. A brown ale on tap? Yessss please! The burgers were sooooooo good. I had a black n blu burger and seriously was a top 10 burger of California, no lie! Perfectly cooked, that jam over the onion strings...dude! I should've gotten a 4 pack of beer to go, but wasn't even thinking. Thanks for making my day trip fantastic. Cheeeeeeers!
We really enjoyed our meals and loved how family friendly it was. We were able to walk in and be seated immediately. It did take a bit for our food to come out, but it was well worth the wait. I highly recommend it.
Went in on the 29th of July My burger was perfect! My beer was great! Definitely would return! Girls in the front are great! Wonderful experience! Gayle I believe was the owner and she was also amazing!
We ordered the 10 inch pizza and a salad. That was plenty enough for 2 people. It was so delicious. I can't believe I never tried their pizza before. It was a 10. The salad was great. The apricot ale was the best batch ever. That was one great dinner. P.S. Their outdoor area is very nice.
The food is great and the beer is better! Snowshoe offers friendly service and plenty of room for friends. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor dining area is accessible however the bathrooms are up one small step. Outdoor had accessible access bit is mostly grass. Highly recommend coming here if you're around!
A most excellent experience at the Snowshoe Brewery last night. As self proclaimed connoisseurs of craft beers, the ones created and served at the Snowshoe Brewery are unquestionably some of the best we have enjoyed, rating right at the top of the list with the many craft beers made in California. As for the food, it was superb. My wife and me (who are frequent travelers and enjoy eating out often), had one of the best dinners we have had the pleasure of experiencing in recent memory. The salmon was very fresh and cooked to perfection, the fresh vegetables were sauteed just right, even the rice pilaf was prepared perfectly. The Fairway Salad was excellent as well, a perfect complement to our delicious main course. An absolutely amazing dinner that was a very pleasant surprise on our first visit, one that left us planning our quick return. The service was outstanding, too, from our very nice and attentive server and a check in or two from the manager and owner (we presume). It all combined to create the high quality type of experience that is exactly what you hope for and expect when spending your hard earned money dining out. Needless to say, based upon our experience we highly recommend the Snowshoe Brewing Company in Arnold.
Great brewery, we came mid week with our children. The service was good, food great( big portions also for the kids menu) and beer was super fresh and tasty. Highly recommend.
Great local brewery with good food too! It's unpretentious and delicious, double win. The beer cheese is amazing. At the time we came, they were out of a handful of things because of the recent storms and a weeklong power outage but who cares, what we got was great. Wish I had pics to post but we ate and drank everything before I remembered I had a phone.
Only had enough time in the area to go once, but would absolutely go back. Awesome menu. We had the white sauce pizza, and it was amazing. Beer was very good, and all brewed there. Great service and very cozy/ski-resort type atmosphere.
1st experience was amazing, had an awesome time. Took my beautiful girlfriend out the second places started opening up. We had a lil wait but we were comfortable and taken care of promptly after waiting for the previous customers to be taken care of. Everything went smoothly, the beer and pizza were incredible. They were very helpful and informative , they were extremely friendly and provided service that will make me return fursure. My girlfriend had a great experience and that itself is worth its weight in gold. Because of this awesome experience we both would definitely enjoy the beautiful drive through the mountains to make a pleasant little stop here for a bite and a beer again very soon.
Amazing Brewery in Sierra foothills. Great place to stop for a beer after a day in the snow. Excellent selection of their own hand crafted beers. Excellent servers who care about their customers and offer excellent recommendations.
Great food, friendly staff, what more could you want. Sat next to the fireplace. Extra warmth for my kids. Dad liked the beer. Great seasoning on the fries.
Floored! Impressive beers for being so far out and away from any major city. The heffewize was really crisp and refreshing. The porter was nice and complex and the ipa was juicy and delicious! Not quite a NEIPA style, but lacking the dankness that marks our typical west coast style. The burgers were fantastic too. Juicy and huge!

The service was excellent, the Food was great and the bar tender was awesome. He was very personable and engaging. This is a must see place.
Misty was the perfect hostess. She was as attentive as we needed and gave great feedback on our questions. The food was outstanding and the apricot wheat was better than I remember. Try the flank steak sandwich!!!!!!

Our 3rd time in recent weeks. It had been lousy with past owners. Things have changed. Everything is better. Food, service and atmosphere. The food has been excellent. Locals are coming back! Pizza, sandwiches, appetizers are all terrific.
Came with our 3 dogs so we decided to sit out back for ease. There was only one other party there, inside, and it was a party of 8 people. The back area was so pretty and comfortable (tables were a little old and splintery but no biggie, just want to note), and the beer and pizza were really good. The staff was friendly but were either new or not well trained. They told us that we wouldn’t get a waitress because the other party was so large and there was one waitress there, and admitted they were overwhelmed. So we said that it was fine and we could come back in to order at the counter (and did), which worked out fine, but then they came out holding two empty cups, and offered us water for the dogs but no water for us. We already had brought a little water bowl for the dogs, expecting to use our water to share with them… but we never got any because she walked off with the cups. We were kind of in awe so we just went and got our water bottles out of the car. That was the only reason I’m taking a star away, but we will definitely go back sometime, and keep our water bottles on us, 💁🏼♀️🤣
We have been here before during the transition between owners and just say, Snowshoe has shown such a change with food, beers and overall service. We enjoyed the changes with the beer and the food was notable improved. We are looking forward to this continued upswing with the location!
The crafted beer is unique & a one of a kind experience. Love the casual style and look that gives you a relaxed homey feel. Both times we've eaten here we've been disappointed... come for the beer, taste the appetizers but for a meal I would pass & try another resturant.
Fantastic brewery to stop into on Hwy 4, especially after a long day! The staff were friendly and the service was pretty quick; my sandwich was ready in about 15-20 minutes after calling in my order. The food was hearty bar food; great for when you really want something delicious and greasy. The garlic fries were not amazing, but they were fine, and still very hot when served. The sandwich had a large serving of chicken and bacon, and was packed with flavor. They don't offer a huge selection of beers, but pretty much all of them are flavorful and distinct; they're likely to have something you'll enjoy. Overall a great place to stop for lunch!
Excellent variety of beer brewed here, especially their Mountain IPA. Great food menu too. Nice atmosphere inside, as well as outdoor tables. Nice service!
Food was decent, standard American fare. We got the chicken salad and Bavarian pretzels for starters, and two specialty pizzas: BREWS 'N QUES and BRATZILLA. Although the brews and ques came out with completely different ingredients than what we ordered (chicken instead of pork, no blue cheese or red onion). Food was good for four hungry people, but not great. Service is slow and the place was pretty empty for a Saturday night - only us and maybe 10 other people? Only one server who was also the bartender.

I had a soft pretzel with cheese. Their beer wasn't for me, but my husband enjoyed it. The place was quiet for a Sunday, which was a bummer. I hope they're able to stay in business.

Okay place, simple menu with long wait times for food.
What can I say.. I was really disappointed. The server was super nice and accommodating. However, we traveled a long way and was super hungry by the time we got there. We ordered hamburgers. My husband ordered the pulled pork and avocado 🥑 burger. He said it wasn't evenly paired. The pork over powered the burger and there was very little avocado. For my husband it was just over salted & seasoned. He wasn't happy about it. I ordered a RARE cheese burger. RARE IS RARE MAN... People who like there food cooked to a specific temperature often is pretty precise with this type order. I would have been happy with medium RARE. However it was well.. I hate the taste of a well burger. It really changes the whole flavor. Fries, I ordered garlic.. there's was almost no garlic and as my husband said way over salted & seasoned. Fries should have some potato taste to it. The server offered to exchange my burger but I'm uncomfortable with sending food back and by the time it would have come my husband would have been done and would have had to wait. Its no fun to eat alone. Could be a great place but the cook needs some training.
We didn’t try any brews, which seems to be their focus. Very casual setting and staff. Food selections are limited. My husband and son had the nachos- not impressed, kind of weird combinations of ingredients. My flanks steak sandwich was overcook- most slices were charred on the edges.
Unremarkable. Normally I love small microbreweries but in California the bar is high for craft brew and this place fell short. I had two beers, the Stout and the Hazy, styles which I normally love, but I would not order either again. The pizza I ordered was also unimpressive. The menu said it was made with gorgonzola cheese but I could only taste it in maybe 3 bites out of the whole pie. At least the Staff was friendly.
Good beer. Service was so-so. We just ordered the calamari and snow blossom onion and both were tasty. Host, who I believe was the owner, wasn't very friendly and wouldn't seat us since two people in the party weren't there yet (at 3pm on a Wednesday it wasn't very busy). Grizzly Brown ale is excellent imo.
Good beer. Food was so-so. Hence the word brewery. Have a couple of drinks first and then the food gets better. Just don't order nachos... Literally a hot mess.
This place has potential...just not quite there yet. I know they are struggling to find staff. We had a beer, and it was quite good. The physical space needs an update badly... and they are trying-slowly making some improvements...I think it will take some time to get up and running. I will try again!!

They didn't seem particularly busy when I visited, but it took over 10mins to finally have someone come over to us and get some beers. Once we were served, the staff was very friendly and the overall energy/vibe of the place was nice.
Since I live locally, I go there occasionally. Our biggest complaint last night was the service. Our server was very nice, but overwhelmed. One cook, one server, one bar tender. As a result, we waited a LONG time for our food, and our appetizer came after our main dishes. Generally the beer is good, but I tried the Candy Rock session IPA and found it on the malty side with not enough hop flavor or aroma (I am a brewer.). The wild game burger was quite good, as was the potato salad, but everything else was just okay. I hope that they can improve staffing, which might make the experience better. It IS worth a try though!

Beer was pretty good but that was about all that was good. Service and food were not good. Nachos had a weird cheese that tasted funky. The wings were decent. Great double IPA.
Pretty mid Took an hour and half for our food. Reasonable party of six with a reservation. Served us two pitchers of the wrong beer before food showed up. Sad to see this place change when we have gone here for years
Unfortunately this once excellent brewpub had gone downhill with the second owner, and the third is doing this great place no favors. While the staff is friendly, the service due to staffing is slow. The pizza was excellent, while the once highly regarded hamburger was so over-cooked, no amount of sauce could save it. Will return just to give a fair chance.
Used to love this place! Food quality has greatly diminished since our last visit. Very limited beer selection which greatly disappointed us. Pulled pork on nachos was worse than pre made at grocery store. Overall general conditions of facility have deteriorated. Outdoor space is not very inviting. Staff is trying their best with what they have to work with and trying to keep customers happy. We are a huge fan of the beer! We hope you can restore what has been lost.
Marginal food. Had the shrimp taco special. Not so special. Frozen shrimp parts defrosted and warmed up. No flavor. A bit of Avocado would have been nice especially for the price. Stick to the beer it was good. Mediocre service. Our waitress forgot about us. Had to go find her to pay the bill.
This place has ( had? ) so much potential. Huge parking lot right off Highway 4. That's about where the good ends ~ an extremely outdated and almost abandoned looking business from the outside, despite the new " now open " sign. The ambience was severely lacking here, A huge empty restaurant/brewery on a sunny Saturday, which also made me question if it was actually open. The service was lackluster, friendly, but not great. Half of the beer was unavailable, so truly only 2-3 on tap. The beer that was there was disappointing, I ordered an IPA, got a flat Pilsner ( beer prices aren't labeled on menu for some reason, roughly $8-9 a beer ) and the burger was mediocre at best also, the quality of the meat should be higher for the price point. There are many better options for food/drink/experience in the area

I love this place...and despite this mildly-bad review, if you're still reading this I hope you'll give them a shot, AND that maybe Snowshoe will get a bit better. Years ago, we were super-excited to have a brewery and fun pizza place in town. In the last year or so though, I believe it's under new ownership and we've been disappointed. -Often very long wait times for food. -Often out of beer, including the cool "take-out" fridge which has been empty the last few times I was in there. We loved this place, and folks who'd used our cabin gave us a gift card. When we went to use it, it was a very awkward encounter. The owner stared at the card when we handed it to her and we waited a good 30 seconds or minute for her to talk. Then she sighed and said she'd take it, but that she doesn't sell gift cards so she wasn't getting any money as it all went to the previous owner. This was after we'd called in an order at 5, showed up at 5:30, and finally paid a bit before 6:30...and no, it wasn't even busy. I'm happy to see some recently positive positive reviews, I hope the next time I go in I love it, and if you haven't tried Snowshoe I hope you'll give them a try...I just wanted to give you an idea of what you might be in for. Also, although I rated "service" poorly, I should say that the wait staff and bar staff are and have always been great! So, even if you happen to have a long wait, there are worse ways to wait than hanging out at the bar or on the back patio with dogs and kids playing!
I didn't expect 5 star dining in a cute little mountain town, but this was very disappointing. We waited for our food for 45 minutes. The pull pork was cold and smelled of dish soap. The grilled cheese was made from American cheese slices. The watress was apologetic, but it was a sad dining experience.

We have tried this place three times. I know, shame on us. It took 30 minutes just to get our beers and probably at least another 30 minutes to receive our food…our food that came out cold. They messed up my daughters pizza twice. She finally just ate it the second time and my husband and I are our cold chili. I had to get our own silverware after we were served our food without it. The server was nice, but inept. This was a Wednesday around 5:30, before the dinner rush. Save your money or get Chinese food.
Second time to visit, last experience was much different. Stopped for burgers and beer and should have kept driving. Service was mediocre and food was disappointing. $18 for a burger and fries,...fries should be hot and burger should be delicious, juicy and still hot. Even the iced tea was murky, yuck. Ambience felt more like a closed bar with a few table and chairs assembled for some drop in guests. Overall experience 👎 I understand that Covid hae made it difficult to run a business but if your taking money from customers I believe that more of an effort should be made to keep your customers.
Pretty run down…our table wobbled had sticky stuff on top wasn’t cleaned off. Service took forever. Everyone that was at the nearby tables had left by the time we got our food. Had to ask for refills. I don’t recommend the Margherita pizza. It was drenched in sauce! Worst pizza I’ve ever had! Very disappointing to spend $100 on a lousy meal. Only thing that was decent was the Pretzel and beer cheese. Long drive for crappy service and food. If you find yourself in Arnold pick someplace else save yourself the disappointment!
Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. It took an hour and 20 min to get our food, when it came, a child brought out some of the plates, my pasta was so overcooked it was literally shredding and falling off the fork, paid extra for chicken, there was barely any chicken , the pesto had zero flavor, tasted like olive oil. The chili was not listed as being spicy on the menu, the chili was so spicy my daughter couldn't eat it. Really overpriced for what it was. The server never came back to the table after she brought our drinks, I sent my son to the bar to have his lemonade refilled. My mom had to call the server over to get another drink, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, when I told someone at the bar about it, they looked at me like I was interrupting their convo with their friends .
Came here with wife and 1 year old because it had great reviews. Service is friendly and everyone seemed nice. Food was sub-par bar food if that. Definitely not worth the prices. Ordered the snowshoe nachos, sliders and kids mac n cheese. The kids mac is literally a bowl of Kraft poorly made yesterday and reheated, the nachos were store bought chips, guac, shredded cheddar cheese, pickled jalepenos, and fatty squishy pork heated in a microwave. Not worth stopping at in my opinion.

Food is great. The service sucked horribly. We went on a saturday around 5:30 pm. There were 2 other tables being used. That should have been a warning sign. Ordering food & drinks was fine. But, we NEVER saw the waitress again other than from afar. It would have been nice to have a drink refill. Ask how our food was??? She brought the bill with her credit card reader and stood there! 2 couples walked out while we were eating as they werent even acknowledged. We wont be back.
