Opinions de Cellar 55 Amarillo
We went for an early New Year’s Eve and birthday dinner. Service was excellent (as always) and the food was delicious. This is our favorite restaurant. Appetizer was incredible (tried the crab cakes). We both ordered the sweet tea fried chicken and it was cooked to perfection. For dessert my husband had the banana foster and we got a complimentary birthday key lime pie for me. Both were very good!
My visit to Cellar 55. Atmosphere was 5⭐️+. Very nice restaurant. Olivia was our server and was fantastic. She was polite, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. We ordered the charcuterie board, the elk tenderloin with blackened scallops, the filet and key lime pie. Sides were mash potatoes and the honey glazed carrots. I would recommended the elk tenderloin (medium rare). If you like bourbon i would suggest the flight # 2. And again Olivia was a delightful young lady. Thanks
I was here for a work anniversary celebration. Many appetizers were ordered like calamari, wings, tuna tower, bacon line, butterfly shrimp. Lord everything was delicious. The server was amazing and very attentive. I didn’t get a picture of that and the drinks were great too. Some better than others. For dinner however I ordered the shellfish trio, I think is what it was called. It was amazing!! I never finish my food but seafood is a different story!! The company was great sharing memories and laughs of experiences throughout the years. Thank you Harwell and Cook for an awesome night and another year!
Everything was perfect about our experience! The restaurant wasn't busy and the service was spectacular. Our waitress was attentive and very knowledgeable. The food was amazing! We ordered the tuna tower, steak bites, snapper tacos, and French dip sandwich - nothing disappointed! Recommend this restaurant for everyone; if budget is an issue, recommend going at lunch, the options are affordable and there is no compromising taste. They are doing everything right!
Upscale yet comfortable, this restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience. The food is outstanding- we really appreciated chef's special swordfish. The wine list is impressive, with plenty of options for both casual drinkers and serious enthusiasts. Service is top-notch: professional, attentive, and genuinely warm without ever being overbearing. It is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality of the food, wine, and service makes it worth every penny. Highly recommended!
What a great place! I had a ribeye with side of Brussels sprouts and blue cheese risotto, and it was amazing. Also the cocktails didn’t dissapoint. Definitely my new go to place in Amarillo.
Thank you so much to the sweet staff for helping me and my fiancé celebrate our engagement today!! All the staff we saw congratulated us and they even gave us a free dessert 💕 The petite filet and ribeye were both phenomenal!! I work at a butcher shop so I’m a little spoiled when it comes to the steak quality that I’m used to, but I cleared my entire plate tonight! We’ll definitely be back!
I was so pleasantly surprised with this beautiful restaurant. Excellent menu excellent wine choices. Excellent food. It could just be the two servers I’ve had, but neither were very familiar with the WINES. You can sell a lot of wine if you’re familiar with these beautiful bottles, but then again, this is Texas, and I don’t see them being big wine drinkers but if you are a wine drinker, this is a good place to get a great glass or bottle. They cook their beef perfectly. It’s tender and medium rare. The calamari was delicious.
A very enchanting dining experience. Cellar 55 is one of the most refreshing restaurants we have visited during travels this year. It will require that we return next week as we travel thru Amarillo. The restaurant overall design is superb, with several dining rooms & dining areas flowing for good waitstaff movement & service. The booths, lighting, and sound damping create a warm & relaxing dining ambiance. Justin, our waiter, was very attentive and knowledgeable of menu items, and always seemed around if we had questions. The Norwegian Salmon was tasty, fresh & recommended. The Steak bites were unusually good. Ava greeted us in a friendly, smiling manner, and Triston, the Manager is obviously a very good one. Phil B.
The Dinning Experience At Cellar 55 In Amarillo, Texas, Was Simply Amazing! The Food Was Incredible, The Service Was Top-Notch, And The Atmosphere Was Just Perfect.
My husband took me here tonight. We had a really good dinner. The service was great. Will definitely be back.
We love Cellar 55! The service is always amazing here. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable on wine selections. We had the steak bites, grouper, CFS, & a side of the Cajun risotto!! It was all perfectly cooked and really great portion sizes. The wine selection is phenomenal. Highly recommend!!
Ate with here with some friends to try the new restaurant in Amarillo. After there was a mistake of a reservation on our end, the staff was very accommodating and allowed us to eat here even though our reservation was mistakenly made a week earlier rather than the intended day. We started off with a few appetizers (cheese curds and steak bites) and moved to the entrees. Overall the food was really good and delicious. If you have a chance to get some desert, the bananas foster is a good choice. The deserts are good for sharing if you don’t want to eat one of just your own. One criticism I have is the drinks. Although the drink had a good Smokey smell, they could’ve have been mixed alittle better. My first drink which was the Maple Bourbon was somewhat water down and the second was alittle strong. Other than this I believe this is a great place to come eat that is spacious and can accommodate a party of any size.

The place is really well-decorated and quite lovely. A good setting for a date or just a night out! You can dress up but it certainly isn't a requirement. Perfect atmosphere. My husband had the French Dip and I had the Smashburger and the drinks were excellent! I had the Raspberry Lemon Fizz and my husband had the Smoke & Mirrors and both were incredibly well mixed! The prices were outstanding and Incredibly reasonable, considering the amazing taste and the amount of food you get. Our waitress was very attentive! We're able to walk in and get a place right at the bar. We could have made reservations on OpenTable ahead of time but we were just passing through so the walk in option was nice! Highly recommend and would give it more than five stars if we could!
I have been so excited to eat at Cellar 55 featuring Executive Chef Shelby Swindell. I recently found out that Shelby has been the chef at all my favorite Amarillo restaurants, so I knew this would be a great experience. The restaurant is very open with gorgeous tables and a bar area that is fancy enough for a date, but relaxing enough to have a drink with a buddy. Another draw for me was the specialization in whiskey. They have everything from a $35,000 bottle to a $30 bottle of Buffalo Trace. I didn’t have a reservation, so we sat at a high top table in the bar. The bar servers, I only remember the female server’s name (Sara) were fantastic. They knew the whiskey’s and the menu, were fun, happy, and added to the experience. We started off with a glass of Merlot and the bacon sampler which was phenomenal. It’s a Very clever app with five different pieces of bacon ranging from maple to sriracha each hanging from a wooden dowel. They provide scissors to cut pieces off as you eat. The bacon melts in your mouth and the flavors were nicely balanced. The bacon came with a port wine reduction sauce that was out of this world. Next we had the gumbo which was very flavorful with a bit of spice but not overwhelming. For entrees, my date and I both ordered the 6oz filet. Both were cooked perfectly and accompanied by roasted Brussel sprouts and creamy mashed potatoes. There are a trio of sauces you can get for your steaks - chimichuri, au poivre, and the port wine reduction. We tried all three but loved the au poivre which is a cognac and cream sauce to pour over the same steak which is pepper crusted. By then we were full but decided to sample a couple whiskeys that were recommended and not too expensive. I can only remember one - the Eagle Rare which is a dry, oaky, Kentucky Bourbon with hints of cocoa. Not as smooth as Buffalo Trace, but very good. Total bill was $125 and it was worth every penny. I’m excited to go back for a lunch to try the smoked Philly Steak and for another dinner to try the tuna and grouper.
I owe Cellar 55 a very long overdue review. This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Amarillo, and that’s saying a lot. Everything we’ve ever tried—from the cocktails to the appetizers, the entrées, and especially the key lime pie—has been absolutely amazing. There isn’t a single miss on the menu. Back in October, I chose Cellar 55 as the place to propose to my now fiancé, and it could not have been more perfect. The team went above and beyond to help me plan the proposal, and every detail was handled with so much care and thoughtfulness. Chris and the entire staff created the most magical, intimate, and flawless setting I could have hoped for. It’s a night we will remember for the rest of our lives, and Cellar 55 will forever be a part of our story. The atmosphere, the service, the food—everything about this place feels special. I have recommended Cellar 55 to everyone I know, and I’ll continue to do so without hesitation. It’s truly unfortunate that I can only give a 5-star rating, because they deserve far more than that.
We originally made a reservation for 12, and the staff was incredibly accommodating from the start, ensuring all our needs were met. We ended up with a group of 15, and they handled the change effortlessly and with such professionalism. The atmosphere was warm and inviting—perfect for our gathering. And the food? Absolutely outstanding. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. This place exceeded all our expectations. I’ll definitely be recommending this restaurant to friends, family, and anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience.
Food is delicious! I had the grouper with risotto and my husband had the tea-brined fried chicken with brussel sprouts. We ended the night with bananas foster, it was delicious but we should have tried the creme brulee. Just an excuse to go back soon! One of my new favorites.

We had the best birthday dinner. As always the food was exceptional and the wine and drinks were excellent. Our waitstaff was so good to us and accommodated our group to perfection. Jordan thank you for listening to us and visiting with us. We know you are busy but you took the time to make us feel extra special.

We had an early dinner at this restaurant. We decided this restaurant as it included lamb on the menu. In general our finds were that the calamari appetizer was good however when served was not hot in temperature. The BLT salad was good. The Martinis (one gin and one vodka) were good. The lamb and vegetables as entree was disappointing. The lamb was overcooked and the carrots were undercooked. The petite filet (6oz) was done perfectly (medium) and the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes sides were also good. No dessert was ordered. The service was excellent and the server was made aware of the shortcomings of the lamb entree.

was really looking forward to dining at Cellar 55 based on the great reviews and elevated menu, but the experience didn’t meet expectations. The space is stylish and the concept promising, but the execution missed the mark. I ordered a cocktail that sounded fantastic on the menu but was poorly balanced and just didn’t taste good. My steak bites—served cold—felt like an afterthought. What made it more frustrating was that no one ever checked on me during the meal. I sat at the bar solo, and it felt like I was completely overlooked. To their credit, they did comp the drink without me asking, which I appreciated—but the gesture didn’t fully make up for the lack of attention and disappointing food. For a place with this price point and reputation, I expected better service and execution. Maybe it was an off night, but unfortunately it left me underwhelmed.

We had a horrible table with no lighting, also for four people when we were dining with just 2, so not intimate. Completely unacceptable for a place that boasts of its great atmosphere! I couldn’t even read the menu, and there were many more tables free with better lighting, 7 of them in fact(!!), so I asked to be moved to a brighter table for 2. Nope, they refused! We came and left and there were all still 7 tables empty on a Saturday night. Our reservation was at 8:15. Should have left upon arrival. Overrated and unfriendly hostess staff and unfortunately the whole place was a disappointment. We went there for our 1 year wedding anniversary, why do they ask if we are “celebrating anything special,” if they don’t want to make it special?!? Food is ok, but I can make better at home, the ahi tuna portion is small and whereas half an avocado seemed excessive, also poorly presented, cocktails were sour and overly bitter, I couldn’t even drink it! Amarillo you should do better! Would not recommend! I have been to fine dining and this such a failed attempt! Save your time and money and support a better restaurant elsewhere. We actually went out someplace else after, to still enjoy our evening, so this place didn’t ruin our night. But wow, what a horrible disappointment!

Service was good, but apparently if you’re not a known local, they will seat you in their worst seating areas. We come early, reserve a table and still can’t possibly get a decent table. They cluster outsiders in their overflow rooms when the entire restaurant is empty. I talked to a manger and he confirmed that this is how it is and that’s how they run their business. They value their pride over customer satisfaction. Food was ok, but pretty expensive and nothing worth coming back for that kind of treatment. I did ask to sit at a different table and I was told by the hostess we could not sit anywhere outside of our assigned server’s working area. So we were denied from sitting anywhere we wanted in a mostly empty restaurant at around 4:05 pm.
