Very glad we chose this over other local steakhouse options for a meal with the family. No trouble parking or making a reservation, and the space was clean with ample booth seating. Our server, Kat, was delightful and knew the answers to all of our questions – even the picky gluten free / vegetarian ones 😅 The food really impressed. My dad loved his steak, peppery and perfectly cooked. Sister’s chicken tasted great and there were multiple steamed vegetable sides to balance the meal. I really enjoyed my breaded catfish and grilled shrimp, and the hush puppies were delicious! The steamed spinach and broccoli were both so much tastier than anticipated, especially for a steak house in Texas 🤫 I recommend trying it if you’re looking for a local joint with great food and great service. Hope to go back before we leave town!

Let’s me start off by saying this restaurant was very clean probably the cleanest steakhouse I’ve seen in a very long time The young gentleman who sat my family was extremely courteous understanding and meet my needs for my family and was quick on his feet to get us what we needed to be comfortable Our waitress Venessa was far beyond we we have experienced in a very long time She was sweet, courteous, understanding, responsive not once. Did we have to ask for a refill she already had those refills on our table and she started getting low. She was fast to keep our table clear of any dishes and made sure our food was perfect We had four kids under five years old with us and she made sure to reassure us when we felt like our kids where being a bother The food was full of flavor and hot If you go ask for waitress Venessa you will have the best dining experience ❤️

Driving through Amarillo on a move east, and decided to try the Hoffbrau. We made the right choice. They have limited dine in capacity due to the pandemic, but there were plenty of seats for us. The staff were friendly, courteous, and observant of all the virus protocols. However, the food was the real star here. Clearly, you can't go wrong with a steak in this part of the country. I tried the smoked sirloin, and it was great. My wife got a salad with chicken, and the chicken was amazing. The portions were very generous to boot. They have a good selection of beers on tap, and decent wine as well. All in all, this was a wonderful dining experience. If you are heading through Amarillo, I recommend checking this place out.

Great place for lunch when trundling down Route 40! The lunch size steak was perfectly done and so inexpensive! Good to eat local rather than the Outback nearby. Lovely decor (may steal the idea of using old doors for a ceiling in my own place!)

I had the country fried steak and my husband had the steak with broccoli. I wish I would have got the steak. Dont get me wrong, my country friend steak was delicious but I tasted a piece of his steak and it was absolutely amazingly delicious. Will definitely eat here again.

Went here for graduation lunch and all the staff was so wonderful & accommodating. Megan W was very attentive, understanding, and ordered everything right for our picky party. Good accessible parking and they can accommodate large groups. Food was delicious and portions were large.

Ordered dinner through a delivery service from here while traveling through the area. Everything was packed well and survived the short trip to the hotel. The banana pudding was a nice treat after a long day. Would stop in when in the area again.

Great stop for dinner. I had the steak, baked sweet potato, and jalapeño broccoli cheddar soup (yum, I will never have it any other way now!). My husband had the burger and fries and enjoyed it. Our waitress, Kat, was so sweet. We appreciated the friendly service, especially on such a bitter cold night, and the warm food! Of course, all I got was a photo of the beer. Lol.

Wanted to try somewhere new to us as we were traveling. The food was delicious and well-cooked! The server (Forrest?) was fast and attentive without being overbearing. Ribeye and shrimp combo was very good. The smoked sirloin was a surprise! Reminded me of ham but meatier! Great choices of sides. We both had the side Chile Relleno. It was different than any relleno we ever had. It was delicious!

Sal's Ribeye was probably the best steak I've ever ordered from a steakhouse, nice clean place, service was great, should have ate here sooner.

It was outstanding once I removed myself from a table and went to the bar. Waited 25 minutes at a table with no recognition from any waitstaff. Once at the bar, the bartender service was outstanding (tipped him 30%) as was the food. I noticed a male waiter from my section sitting at the bar visiting with a customer and another female staff member behind the bar (didn’t see her serve anyone at the bar) and the waiter even offered the customer that he knew anything he wanted off the menu for some apparent favor.

Nothing beats a good Texan Steak…after 8 hrs drive and 6 mile hike at Palo Duro canyon, all I wanted was good food and Hoffbrau delivered it. We used to go to Austin location when we’re living close to downtown but Amarillo location was the best. Didn’t know that it’s a chain restaurant. Anyways! Service was great, got tables easily, it was weekend so restaurant was full.

A classic steakhouse experience. The coffee-rubbed ribeye was cooked to a good mid-rare and the bread is awesome. Service is friendly. A great introduction to Texas coming from New Mexico on a long roadtrip.

This place was recommended by our hotel concierge. It's locally owned and it is excellent. They definitely know how to cook a rare steak and they have fried catfish which my husband has been looking for for months. They have a great bartender who was able to make me a Crowley which is a drink. I discovered on Instagram and they actually had the ingredients for and made it very well. The server was very friendly and very knowledgeable and the restaurant was very clean and nice. If you want steak or fish I would highly recommend this place and their peach cobbler was wonderful..

I visited here after a 500 mile drive and sat at the bar, MJ was my bartender and she was very friendly and quickly brought me an ice cold beer. The food was not only prepared quickly it was delicious! I had the Smoked Sirloin, Mac and Cheese, and corn on the cob. I also had the Candied Bacon for an appetizer. When I pass through Amarillo again I'll be sure to eat here! Very nice atmosphere in here

If you're staying at the east end of the city...take the trip across the city to Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House. You can't get candied bacon down the street. Kim and Google hit another homerun with this stop. If you can get in during their happy hour, you can feed on the cheap...but really enjoy yourself. As per the photos...starters were the Texas Pesos and the Candied Bacon. Both were hits. The lightly battered jalapenos had just enough heat with the melted cheese providing salty goodness. The bacon was sweet and salty. Mary(Kim's mom) won with the double porkchops. Cooked to the perfect balance of flavor and tenderness. Nicely seasoned and a vinegar based sauce to add another layer. Kim and I shared the 10 oz sirloin. Kim wished she stepped up to the ribeye...all the more for me. The sirloin is the cut it is. It was well prepared. The absolute best part of our visit was Bobbie Jo. An absolute dream of a server...on time with all expectations, in the most friendly, welcoming manner.

If you are looking for a cozy family friendly steakhouse with big portions and all the fixings this is it. We were stuck in like about to wait for 2 hours at a tourist trap down the street when we stumbled upon this treasure. Hoffbraus made out night after a long day hike at Palo Duro. The staff was very nice and attentive, the food delicious. A nice way to end our trip in Amarillo.

We are in town for the week and wanted a good steak. We did some research on a very popular steakhouse in Amarillo but after reading reviews on several platforms decided to skip that one and try another. Review after review Hoffbrau was consistently good from wait time to seevice and most importantly the food. Let me just say we were not disappointed in any area. We went around 6pm on a Wednesday we were seated immediately steaks were tender and juicy salads fresh and sides tastey and hot. Tiffany was our waitress and was awesome. Atmosphere was perfect not loud or overcrowded. If in the area you have to try them you won't be disappointed

If you want a perfectly cooked, tasty, tender steak, try the 13 oz Sal's ribeye. I highly recommend giving this place a try. The Dr. Pepper ribs are also pretty tasty. Loaded baked potatoes ate good and the fries are good. My 10 hear old daughter loved the macaroni and cheese. This place was so good we went back the next day I got the same 13 oz steak and it was even better than the one the day before. Ribs were on point tender and delicious. Chicken fried steak mashed potatoes and macaroni was delicious and pretty large 😋 Salad and chicken tenders are also super delicious. I dont think they serve anything not delicious

I hadn't been to a Hoffbrau in years since the one where I lived closed so I was happy to see Amarillo had one. My favorite things to get are the Brau chips and a cup of chili. After all these years and they still were ad good as I remembered them to be! I got chicken tenders as an entree and took them home, but they were great the next day. I stopped in another night while I was in town, and I got Rainey's salad with fried chicken, and it was also great. Looking forward to visiting again!

Hoffbrau is a great restaurant making for a fantastic dining experience. Taylor took excellent care of us. He was helpful with suggestions and kept checking on us without being in the way. My wife ordered the tender birds, which came with two sides. She selected the side salad, which she enjoyed along with the broccoli japalino cheese soup, which had quite a kick. The gravy for the chicken strips was very good. I got the ugly bird that had bbq sauce, bacon, cheese, and onion straws. It was absolutely delicious. My side salad was good, and my pepperjack stuffed relleno was very good. If we are back in the area, we will definitely be eating here again.

Perfect location to our hotel after hours on the road heading to Colorado. And great reviews. We were seated immediately and drinks and orders were taken right away. Hubby and I shared a 13 ounce Sals ribeye with side salad for me, a bowl of chili for hubby and a side of Mac and cheese and corn on cob. The flavors were spot on. Our steak was perfectly medium. The corn had a perfect char and was sooo sweet and buttery. The Mac and cheese was soo creamy and maybe one of the best Mac and cheeses I've tried. We would definitely stop in again on our next trip to see Grandpa Rabbit.

The food and service were great! I had the banana pudding, which could use some more bananas. The coffee rubbed ribeye was tender and tasty but was a bit thin so was cooked perfect on one side and a little over done on the other side.

Pesos (fried and smothered jalapenos) were great and even better it was happy hour so cheap drinks. I believe it was 1/2 price appetizers during happy hour but don't quote me on that. I just know I was charged half price but the bartender never mentioned it, had they said something I would have tried another app that sounded good. 😞 The jalapeno gravy that we ordered with the chicken-fried steak tasted like they forgot the jalapenos. Could have been they used the regular gravy and didn't mention it... All in all, decent food and the prices weren't too bad.

First time eating here. Wasn’t sure what to expect as I honestly thought hoffbrau steak house was a German type for the name hoffbrau. Come to find out it wasn’t. It was catered more to as in the name steak house. I ordered the steak. Can I say I was really impressed as it was very tendered and cooked to perfection. I will without a doubt come back next time I’m in town. I do recommend them to others as well.

Absolutely loved our steaks and Macncheese! Keenan was absolutely the best at keeping our drinks full and making sure our food was good. Recommended some hot sauce for the Mac and we loved it. Had a little technical difficulties when we arrived is the only reason for the 4 stars but John the manager actually reopened the kitchen so that after our 15 hrs trip from Alabama to our first stop here in Amarillo we could have a hot meal. I truly appreciate Keenan the fabulous cook John the manager and the sweetest staff for going above and beyond. We will definitely stop in again.

New waiter was a little nervous I think. Never mentioned happy hour appetizers but we had ordered 2 anyway. The mushrooms were excellent the candied bacon wasn't quite what my son expected. The entré's were all good. Bread a nice addition. Well worth the visit and I would reccomend a visit and I'd go back when next in the area.

We had the smoked sirloin, shrimp and salmon dinners. The steak,, shrimp and salmon was excellent. However, as a side I had the mac N cheese. I did not like that because it was soupy and did not have a good cheesy flavor. We also shared the peach cobbler dessert with ice-cream on top and that was very tasty. I would recommend this restaurant but I would not get the Mac n cheese again.

The chicken fried steak was hard around the edges. Some like that I'm not one. Everything was delicious. I worked around the hard parts and cleaned my plate. I had a solo dinner here following a meeting with an organization. They have rooms that can be reserved, and we used one. The server was highly attentive to our party. All of the appetizers served looked delicious. Everyone seemed to enjoy them. My dinner was hot and fresh. It was a lot of food, so I had leftovers. I ordered catfish with loaded mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. They also serve complimentary rolls. I was too full for dessert but I've heard good things about the banana pudding.

Service was awesome. The broccoli cheese jalapeno soup has amazing flavor, but was a little too thick. The chicken fry had WAY too much batter on it, I cut into the end and got all batter because my steak had shrank to 3/4 the size of the batter. It was seasoned well and very good tho once I pulled all the excess off. The mac n cheese is nothing to write home about, just okay. They use traditional cheddar, nothing different about it. The sausage appetizer is great and the Dr Pepper bbq sauce they serve with it is amazing! My husband had the salmon and roasted corn and said both were very good. It's somewhere I'd definitely go back to.

The fried mushrooms were the best part of the meal. Golden and crispy and served with ranch dressing. The rolls were decent. Could have been hotter. The bbq sauce on the dr. Pepper chicken had an off taste. The catfish dinner wad pretty tasty. Liked the batter on it. The thick cut french fries were super fresh and hot. Good sized portions. Decent service.

I was here for dinner in a big group. Overall it was a very average experience. We had 1 waiter for 26 people so the service was extremely slow. The group menu was also very confusing. The food overall was extremely average and would have been cheaper if we bought it individually instead of as a group.

Not to busy for a Friday night. My wife & I hadn't been there in the past year. They served us a good salad. My Ribeye steak is queationable?? I've worked in a packing house for 38 years and have never seen a perfectly round Ribeye! So not sure what I paid for!

My wife and I had a Sunday dinner here. We arrived at 745. We ordered the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. Typically fried mushrooms arrive way too hot to eat. These fried mushrooms were warmer than room temp but not much. They were underseasoned and the coating was slightly soggy. The house salads were OK. There was too much dressing on both salads, but we probably should have asked for the dressing on the side. The red onions in the salad were cut incredibly unevenly and looked like they'd been cut with a paring knife whole holding the onion in the other hand. My wife had the center cut filled. I had the 13oz ribeye. Her filled was tough but cooked to temp (med rare.) Her greenbeans were fine. My ribeye was unevenly marbled and lacked intermuscular fat, so it lacked ribeye flavor. The steak fries, like the mushrooms, were slightly warmer than room temp and had no salt or other seasoning. When we were finished we waited 15 minutes to get our bill. The restaurant was around 20% full at the time. We were thinking any steak place in Anatillo would have to be excellent to stay in business. There is a reason the nearby Outback steakhouse thrives being so close to a locally owned steak place. And as a huge fan of locally restaurant it pains me to say this, but I would have preferred Outback. :(

We were more than excited to try this place out to see how it compares to other local eats. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations.1. Blonde haired waitress was not attentive, forgot our request for steak sauce, and gave me plastic utensils. 2. Poor food presentation 3. Smallest and weirdest colored chile relleno I have ever seen! 4. Steak was mediocre in taste(better elsewhere) Positive note: Steaks cooked at right temperature and soft drinks were good! Overall, I could not recommend at this time.

For $9 pulled pork sandwiches, they should have had more than one scoop of fatty meat. All meals were cold; I live around the block and waited for my food to be ready. The two meat plates looked good.

We were driving home on a 10 hour road trip and decided to stop for an early dinner. The customer service was fine and the waitress was pleasant. Our baked potatoes were very cold and rubbery as if they were quickly put in the microwave. They did not taste very good. The steaks were just average. The mushrooms were shriveled and had a very strange color. The website advertises this place is locally owned and operated which we prefer but in this case, chain restaurant food would have tasted better.

We ate here today after many years of not. I was reminded quickly why we don’t. Our waiter which I didn’t catch his name was very pleasant and although we were with a group of 20, he did a great job. As far as food and drink, so disappointing. Even the water had a weird taste and smelled like bleach. Ordered cocktails , the server came back to say they didn’t have the ingredients for one several at the table, maybe the same ingredient not sure, the Tito’s Tea came out with the same horrible taste as the water. Did not drink k it. Ordered a beer instead. Food came out. Most of which was cold. The child’s macaroni was cold all though the bowl was hot. My husband and I shared a Chicken fried steak, it was tough and cold. We ate less than half together . I looked around the table and all kinds of plates had been left with more than half on the plate. We spent $50plus dollars ordered 2 beers, 1 mixed drink, which I didn’t drink, and shared a plate. Atmosphere was good and server was good. That’s all.

The only reason the review isn’t a 1 star is because our server was very nice and respectful when I sent the food back. Will not ever recommend Hoffbrau.. funny to see the reviews on here because I’ve ask serval friend what they think of this place and not a single person said it was good… this place needs a massive change or to be shut down

So on a recent road trip we stopped by Hoffbrau Steak & Grill. I had eaten at Hoffbrau Steaks in Denver Co and had a great meal. Thinking it has been a while since the last visit, hoping it will be as good. I was with my Dad and my brother on this visit. Dad ordered the King Burger $15.99, this has Jack and Cheddar cheese and regular burger garnish, plus fries. He really enjoyed it. My brother ordered the Cowtown Chicken Fried Steak,$19.99 with baked potato and green beans, This Plate had a Chile relleno with pico on top of the C.F.S.. His plate looked great, and I tried it, Loved it. I ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad $20.99. The salad comes with chopped eggs, bacon bits, cheese, and tomatoes. Honestly, folks I really am trying to promote restaurants in my critique and I feel like I'm getting better at this. However, there are times when I have to be brutally honest. This was one of the worst salads I have ever eaten, it beat out the Caesar salad I had at the Lone Star S.H. ( see pics) as the worst. At first when they placed it front of me I was like " Wow" this looks good. But as I started eating I started noticing, the Salmon was not Atlantic Salmon, it was frozen not fresh and had a strong oily fish flavor. Next thing I started noticing more how unfresh the lettuce was . Worse than the soggy lettuce I received at Taco Kissie.( Photos) This lettuce was brown. I don't like when tomatoes are diced and eggs chopped up on a 20 Dollar salad. Tomato wedges and sliced eggs make for a meal. This is a restaurant that is cross using ingredients to the max. Great for cost but not on every plate. The jack and Cheddar cheese were on my salad and on Dad's burger. The diced Tomatoes on my salad were the same on the relleno. I really wanted to enjoy my Salad but there was just no way. Unfortunately for me my Hoffbrau experience was nothing like the place I went to in Denver.

Looks delicious right? Wrong!! Over spiced steak which just means they put loads of salt. Ordered the 13oz Ribeye and I was served 6oz of meat and 7oz of gristle. Over salted and overcooked bake potato...might as well have ordered the mashed potatoes. $30 wasted!! In all fairness they just reopened and perhaps need to remember their cooking skills but still very disappointing.

Tried to place an online order for pickup through the Toast app. I received errors with multiple credit cards. So I decided to call and place my order over the phone. If you call this number respect to be either disconnected immediately or to be connected to a fax machine. Disappointed. Really wanted to try this place.

First order was served ice cold, but was replaced. Service was slow, but it wasn't particularly busy. The part that bothered me the most was them changing my tip after I signed the bill and left. Very dishonest and sub par food.

Beyond disappointed! 🙄 It seemed like our wait staff was not interested in our dining there last night. The waiter didn’t properly submit my order and tried to rush us out before we had finished eating. The host tried to seat us at a tiny booth knowing my husband was 6’7” and when asked for a bigger booth, he was clearly not happy. There are so many steak restaurants in Amarillo - we will try those next time we’re passing thru town. The food was meh - something off a Sysco food truck IMO.

Absolutely the worst ribeye I’ve ever paid for at a restaurant……way too thin and rare instead of medium rare. Baked potato was cold and the salad wilted. Too noisy

We ended up here for a late lunch. The waiter seemed annoyed with us the whole time. The soup was undercooked, the pork chop was overcooked and everything was very under seasoned. It was almost like we got some of the the leftovers from lunch with a fresh bowl of soup that didn't have time to cook. I told the waiter that my daughters toast that came with her chicken was disgusting and I had to spit it out! His response was " why didn't you tell me sooner?"I told him my daughter did not complain about it until I asked her why she wasn't eating her food and tried it myself. I was too offended by this time I didnt even mention the ring inside my coke glass or try to communicate my disgust about it so we paid and tipped and went home disappointed. This used to be a good place to eat.

The absolute worst steak and service ive have had in a while. Payed 30 for a steak and it came out as a fatty flavorless ribeye that looked like a skirt stake. Had better sides in a cafeteria, and 20 people went in front of us before we got a turn to sit down. I had to go up to the hostess twice to be seated, and the witress checked in on us twice. Terrible experience for the whole party.

The atmosphere was forgettable, but the food was the real disaster. My 10oz sirloin had absolutely no seasoning, no flavor, and looked like someone stamped grill marks on it and then just threw it in a pan. The outside was soft with no crust.  The pictures online are very deceiving. I’ve had better steaks at the most basic chain spots, and that’s saying something. My server made the whole experience even worse.  He was obviously a man but was wearing women’s make up, fake nails and was putting on a feminine voice. I expect this type of server in Austin, not Amarillo. Between the terrible food and how uncomfortable the server made me, this restaurant managed to check every box for a bad dining experience. I won’t be back, and I wouldn’t send anyone here unless I didn’t like them.

Sad to write this review as I have been eating at Hoffbrau my entire life and it’s always been great. I ordered Broccoli cheese jalapeno soup and salad for delivery. The bag had not been tampered with or opened, it was completely sealed. There were no dinner rolls included. I think they forgot to add the jalapeno to the soup. But the really bad part was I got to the bottom of my soup to find a piece of rolled up plastic from a plastic bag. I could read the words dairy on it. I assume whoever made the batch of soup dropped it in by accident. Luckily I didn’t eat it and choke on it. Please do better!!

It’s disappointing to say that our recent experience will likely keep us from returning. From start to finish, both the service and the food were below average. Wrong drink was brought out, we had to ask for refill on drinks, and we had to find the waitress to get the check. My husband and I ordered ribeyes cooked medium, but they arrived rare and had to be sent back. When we let our waitress know, she seemed disengaged and walked away looking up at the ceiling. The steaks were already heavily seasoned with pepper, and when they came back out, even more pepper had been added. My dad ordered the smoked ribeye, which was extremely tough and not enjoyable at all. Based off other reviews about the smoked ribeye, this seems to be common. This was a birthday dinner for my dad and we wanted to celebrate with good food and drinks. Unfortunately, after this visit, we won’t be returning.
