Opinions de Chuy's Amarillo
After a long day stuck in multiple airports, I finally landed in Amarillo. I took an Uber to my hotel, and as I was pulling in, I saw Chuy's was walkable from the hotel. I was starving so I hustled over but saw that they were closing in 15mins. I didn't know what else would be open so I went in anyway. I hate to be the guy that would keep them there later. I took a seat at the bar and Shay helped me right away with no signs of annoyance. She was very helpful and nice, and the manager was as well. He came by 2-3 times to make sure I was being taken care of. Great spot. Kudos to the staff for taking care of me late. It was much appreciated.
Chicken fajitas were great! Large portions and well seasoned. Waitress Brooklyn was outstanding. She kept our glasses full, chips full, super friendly! She got our food out fast and checked on us frequently to make sure everything was ok. Our family will ask for her when we return.
Great mexican food at very reasonable prices.
Greattttt food, great atmosphere & you literally cannot beat the price.
Been to this place several times, have always had good service, yummy food and it’s clean! They do serve big combo plates so you’ve been warned! 😆 The Elvis combo plate is big enough to feed a couple of people at least, possibly 3! They sell some of the cutest t-shirts too! Stop here for a bite if you’re driving through on I-40!! It’s totally worth it! Chuy’s customer for life!! ❤️🥰 🍽️
The customer service my friends a d I received has to be the best I've ever gotten. We went in to eat not knowing they were about to close, but they still seated us and took ours orders. They even offered free desert as and apology when they ran out of rice and we had to get substitutes. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, and the manager (I assume) was truly apologetic when he came to our table. The food was incredible, and we all happily took our left overs home. We will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommend.
This was a surprising gem. We had an excellent waiter. I wish I remembered his name to give him credit. I've never seen somebody wait so many tables and not lose their mind. The best salsa that I'm having a long time, good prices and clean restrooms. Tesla superchargers not far away.
Had a great a waiter who was super attentive. The food was good as always plus I really love how it still maintains the original flavors from the Austin locations. 5 stars.
This was our first time to dine at the Amarillo location. The food was great. Our server, Addie, was excellent. She did an amazing job.
Felisha was our bartender and HANDS DOWN best service and best chicken relleno I’ve ever had!
I absolutely love Chuy's! The wait staff is amazing. Our waitress never let our drinks go empty, had a laughing and was very knowledgeable about the items they have. The fresh salsa can't be beat (but sometimes the amount of spice varies due to the fresh products). Love this restaurant and will be back as often as we can.
The food was delicious as usual, that’s a given. It’s the customer service that makes this place amazing. The manager has one thing on his mind and it’s “how can I make their meal better.” I highly recommend to anyone passing through.
We had the pleasure of having Trinity as our server for supper. The fajitas were excellent, and the service was the best we have had! She was very attentive and upbeat.
Superb food! Best Tex Meal I ever had. Attentive servers who support each other. Loved the bridal photos on the walls.
I love Chuy's. I usually get the big as your face burrito. My son loves their fajitas. I'm not a big fan of their salsa, but the queso and the jalapeno ranch are great. Whatever you get, have it topped with the Boom Boom sauce.
I was visiting my daughter in Amarillo. I lived in Austin for several years, and Chuy's is just as good in Amarillo as I remembered.
I come here for the boom boom sauce, but its very convenient that the food is fantastic as well.
Passing through Amarillo with a tour group. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean. The food was so good and the service we got from Daniel B was exceptional. Location convenient to I40. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed the food. Tacos were great.
Mother’s Day away from home. Felt like some Mexican food to pick me up. Chuy’s is incredible! Excellent service by the bartender! Wonderful food! Made me feel much better :)
Food was delicious! Side sauces are free so I got a couple to try and everything was delicious! Last time we were in town this place wasn't open yet. Worth the wait and we'll be back!
Adrian was our waiter and he was so caring and prompt. The food was delicious 😋 the atmosphere was great. The AC worked great 👍you might want a light sweater of you get cold easy.
We had a great dinner at Chuy’s. Haylee, our waitress, was very attentive and responsive to anything we needed. The kids love the ice cream dessert that comes with their kids meals, too!
Best taquitos. Great service very friendly very comfortable and inviting. Next time I'm in town we will go there
Excellent scratch-made food! While in town, we enjoyed this place a few times. Our favorites are the taco/enchilada combo and the TexMex Burrito Bowl. The Creamy jalapeño sauce is AMAZING! We actually returned mostly because of this sauce 🤣 We are moving on the Colorado Springs and we're very happy to see that there is one there as well!
Amazing waiter. I don't know his name but he was tall had a red shirt and a beard, very friendly, and got a to-go tea. He needs a promotion.
Came to this location of Chuy's on the west side of Amarillo near I-40 and Soucy Road, on a Sunday evening around 6:30pm. Not too crowded and we were seated without any wait. We say on the center dining area, which is decorated colorfully, complète with fake palm trees! Good is great and the prices are also very reasonable. Clayton, our server, was very attentive, courteous and friendly. Lots of free parking outside (shared with adjacent businesses) and plenty of seats and tables inside. Recommended!
Placed an order for pickup and food was ready on time. Everything was delicious and they even gave us a huge bag of chips and salsa togo. Portions are huge.
Amazing as always! This one was super special since it had been over 10 months since eating at a Chuy's... apparently, they don't or won't put one in New Mexico - I just moved to Albuquerque. Thought I might die without my weekly - sometimes biweekly Chuy's fix. This one is about 11 months old and it is super friendly, clean and wonderfully serverd!
On a busy Friday night, we walked in and were impressed by the outstanding service from Zack. He handles the pressure exceptionally well and ensures that every customer is attended to.
Great food and our waitresses were AMAZING Ansley and Jor and the Manager Laz Was amazing to get our food order out so hot and fresh and so quick. Delicious food, great service always
We got in at 8:30 and they close at 9:00. They were very friendly and welcoming to us. The food was great! I had the grilled steak burrito my husband had a ground beef burrito with myself the Presley special enchiladas. The service was very good as well and the prices were a bit less than I thought they would be... Especially considering the massive portions. I definitely recommend this place!
Chuy's Tex-Mex in Texas is a fun, colorful spot known for its laid-back vibe and consistently tasty food. The chips are light and crispy, the creamy jalapeño dip is addictive, and the enchiladas and burritos are generously portioned. The quirky decor and friendly service add to the experience, making it a great casual place for family dinners or meetups with friends. It's not fancy, but it's reliably good Tex-Mex with plenty of personality.
Fast and delicious. Waiter was great! Took our whole huge, and complicated, order by memory and nailed it! Thanks!
This Chuy's did a great job on making my meal gluten free without cross contamination.
I love this place!! Raleigh is the most adorable server! She’s friendly and such a ray of sunshine when I go in here! The food is delicious!! Hopefully you bring back your raspberry lemonade margaritas soon! 😊
SIT IN THE BAR WITH JORI !!!! SHE’s amazing !!! In a world where customer service is nonexistent JORI HAS IT DOWN FOLKS !!!! Fast service very attentive didn’t want for anything during my visit. CHUYS is a place I only eat at in Amarillo because the food and service is SO MUCH BETTER than at home. Stop in for a marg and sit in the bar and ask for JORI you wont regret it she is a BEAST and fun to visit with !!!! My name is NATHAN MYERS and I approve this message.
Great food, huge portions. Seated near the bar and Ambrasia kept the bar running while providing excellent service to her tables and helping to diffuse a situation with a drunk customer. Happy hour is also a good deal, 10/10!
This was an amazing experience, we showed up 20 minutes till close and the amazing man Zack at the bar did not hesitate to help us, and on top of that he made me the most amazing drink and what’s even better he’s keeping his best friend alive by telling his story and bartending in his memory! Truly amazing guy and I will be coming back solely because of this man.
This was our first visit here! The service was great! It is authentic Mexican food with great flavor! The sauces are amazing! We loved the atmosphere and decor! We had the grand ma margarita and it was delicious! Our server did a great job and had a wonderful attitude. She even helped my elderly mom packed her to go plate. She was kind and made suggestions. We were definitely impressed and satisfied with everything!
Chuys, thank you for making our visit great! Gordan was our waiter and he was so helpful, kind and just all around awesome welcoming attitude! We shared the fajitas plate and honestly those are waaay better than chilis!! They also had a good variety of sauces and we tried all of them, super good! Drinks were good, place was easy to find, service was great, price was definitely affordable and would most definitely come back!
03/27/2025 - Met with Dr. Shanna James (Andrea's Project), Max and Wendy Clement (Grace Technology), Jon Klein (Jon Klein Family Counseling and Associates, PLLC), and Kenny Dapp (Bridging the Gaps) for a business lunch to discuss helping non-profit organizations in Amarillo work together to better serve those in our community who need assistance. As we had made reservations, we were seated in the enclosed patio area, where our server Jason had thoughtful turned down the volume of both the music and the television. As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, and the patio area was perfect for our needs. The chips and salsa were both fresh and delicious, with the queso absolutely delicious. When Jason took our order, I noticed he did not write anything down. "This ought to be interesting," I thought to myself. Yet, not only did he get our orders correct - including little details, he even knew who got what dish. VERY IMPRESSIVE. My beef fajitas were absolutely PERFECT, and the fresh onions and cilantro were the difference makers. Indeed, everyone enjoyed their individual meals, and the portions were large enough for me to get full and STILL take home more than half. All told, the food was great, the atmosphere, excellent, the service amazing, and the prices affordable. Because of this, our business meeting was a complete success, and I look forward to coming back again soon. VERDICT: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
The food was great! Chips and salsa were delivered within a minute of sitting down! Bartender was on roll! We arrived an hour before close, so we ordered a quick appetizer and two beers. Food delivered within 10 minutes of ordering. Now the rant...as lovely and cute the pictures on the wall are, they were nasty looking. Food splattered on all of the ones around our table. The light above our table had spider webs in it. As it is the weekend before Christmas, I chalked it up to being busy.
Chuy’s slogan is “Always Fun! Always Fresh!” We had a fun time at the I-40 location in Amarillo, TX. The decor is bright and eclectic. The food was good and fresh. Mission accomplished I would say. My salad was crisp and the waitress got my “no onions or cheese” order correct, which is apparently tough for many servers. The sauces on enchiladas were good, not great. The beans had a good consistency but required the salt shaker. Overall this is a nice place for some Tex-Mex favorites.
Went to this restaurant for lunch the first time ever yesterday. My family of five was seated right away and after a short wait the waiter came over with chips and took our drink order. It took a lot longer than it should have to receive our drinks but we didn’t let that bother us. We were able to order our food and enjoyed the chips. The food came out quickly. The food was good too. The only downfall to this visit is the fact that the service was horrible. We sat with empty drink cups for a while and had to ask for refills. Idk of the waiter was new or if he was just that bad. The kids meals were $6 but came with 4/5 chicken strips, and my wife’s steak burrito was massive Along with my burrito. Food was good but the service made it lose a star. We will probably try it again.
The savory flavors of the fajita burrito were quite delightful. The ingredients blended together perfectly, creating a harmonious taste experience. It was a satisfying meal, exceeding expectations in its quality. The overall culinary experience was truly enjoyable. I would happily recommend this dish to others seeking a flavorful and satisfying option.
The food was good. The price was right. The service was good. The things you expect when you go out.
I had the green chile fried chicken with the green chile rice and refried beans. The chicken was cooked perfectly; it was moist and light breaded in Lays potato chips with a green chile sauce. I’d skip the green chile rice. It was underwhelming and reminded me of a split open boudin sausage. Ore server was friendly and attentive.
We went on Halloween and our server was dressed as the Riddler. He was so inviting and made everyone at the table laugh. It was a little cold in the room we were in by the bar but overall atmosphere was exciting and busting with energy. The seating areas are randomly decorated and the theme throughout is sporadic. (Fun to look at while we wait for food.) We were a party of 5 and everyone ordered different items. The complimentary chips and salsa were nice. We weren't too much fans of the salsa, (fresh ingredients with lots of onion), so we ordered the queso to have something to snack on before our food came out. The menu is very limited but you can find something to choose. The food is definitely Tex-Mex so don't expect authentic. The tres leches dessert was slap your abuela good. Overall our experience was great and we have returned since at least 2 other times.
We've been here a few times and each time the experience was very good The service was very good The food was good fresh chips and salsa The atmosphere was very nice not very crowded and the servers was checking on us quite often bringing us whatever we need immediately this is One of the places that we go to quite often and probably will continue to and the prices are fairly decent
Place was CRAZY busy! Food is always good at a Chuy's. I've been eating at then since the 80's at the original in Austin.
The food was incredibly good tex-mex. While my guacamole was brown, the rest of my meal was a seriously tasty experience. The beans were definitely better than most, the green chile rice has that extra depth of flavor, and the fajitas were executed quite well. Our service was good, though we did feel as though the server could have come by a bit more often. The atmosphere is the real star of the show, with kitschy photos hanging from the wall and themed roomes. All in all, I'd recommend this for a great weeknight dinner!
They may have been busy. We saw the waitress 3 times in an hour.
I sat at the bar. I wanted to sit quickly so I sat at the bar. The area smelled really foul (I should have asked to sit at a table so that's on me) and the bartender had an attitude but the food was excellent, as usual!
Food was okay. Nothing special. To play it safe daughter ordered tacos, I ordered enchiladas. I've had much worse. But was pretty average. Thin, fresh Chips and fresh fine chopped tomatoes spicy was 4 stars!
the hostess saw us with a wheelchair and seemed to be annoyed. place was almost empty. but we had to wait for her to clean off a table for us to sit. put us in a room all by are self like we might annoy other customers. service was good at the beginning but went down from there. when I tip it's 20-25 %. but when it's bad 5-10% we'll they got 5%. only do this cause I want them to know i didn't forget the tip. I just rated there service so they can work on getting better.
Good simple menu. Food was tasty service was ok but took until both our appetizers and food arrived before I ever received a beer that I ordered 30 minutes before. And then $5.25 for a can of cheap beer that made it not a place to ever go again. Nothing negative about it just I think that's a ridiculous price for a can of beer.
Trinity our sever was really calm and kind which is why we stayed. The manager was frustrated because the tortilla maker was broken and everyone was waiting for food for 1 hour or more and there was a lack of empathy and care when we had asked a question about allergy and cross contamination.Food was good.
Came for a late lunch and it wasn't busy at all. Salsa brought with chips was too chunky for hubby's liking. Steak burrito bowl was decent. Ordered a spicy pineapple marg...out of pineapple so I substituted with mango instead. Tres leches cake is a must! Rips on booth seating make it a b8t uncomfortable t9 sit on with shorts.
Completely ok. The food is ok, the service is ok. It's just ok, nothing special. Standard overpriced Americanized TexMex with average flavor and trying to cover with tons of flair on the walls.
This is NOT Tex- Mex!!! Nor is it down south mexican food. I'm from San Antonio and our food does not look or taste anything like this. They didn't even have rice! What so called "TEX-MEX" place runs out of rice? This will be the last time I come here... I need real Tex-Mex food... not New-Mex!
The salsa is AMAZING it has a great flavor! But that’s it. The enchilada sauce had a hint of a cleaning chemical mixed in, and it was super disappointing because there are many sauces to chose from so I was excited to taste them! The children’s meals are more for toddlers and not elementary aged children.
If you're just after food, go to a taco truck. It's better and more affordable. Not really anything positive to say about this place, but nothing really stands out as being awful either. About the only space it'll take up in my head is just enough room to remind me to go someplace else next time.
We spent the night in a hotel near this Chuy’s location in Amarillo. My family wanted to eat at Saltgrass Steakhouse which was also near our hotel but there was a 35 minute wait for a table at Saltgrass Steakhouse. So we ended up at Chuy’s. I was a little suspicious about Chuy’s because, while all the other nearby restaurants had full parking lots, the parking lot at Chuy’s was nearly empty. By the time we left, we fully understood why Chuy’s parking lot was empty. Their food ranged from mediocre to barely edible. No one in our family was satisfied with their food. Service at Chuy’s was OK and the ambience was fine. But, like most folks, we go to restaurants for the food. The friendly service and ambience are secondary considerations. It’s really sad to see how Chuy’s has declined. I remember going to the original Chuy’s location on Barton Springs road in Austin in the early 1980s. I really enjoyed dining at Chuy’s back then. We are unlikely to ever return to this Chuy’s location. While not as bad as this one in Amarillo, the other Chuy’s locations we have tried are nothing special. I haven’t been back to the original Chuy’s location on Barton Springs road in decades, so I don’t know if it even still exists any more or if it is worth trying. Farewell, Chuy’s!
The best part of the meal were the fresh chips. Nothing else was impressive. I had the 2 fajita chicken enchilada combo. Chicken and Tex-Mex sauce over cooked. The rice and beans were bland. One of their specialty drinks costs as much as the meals. Even the sweet tea was bad. I did not even finish one drink.
This will not be a great review. Sorry but it is what it is. Normally Chuy’s is one my favs to go to…Tyler, Dallas, Arlington. Those places have always been top of the line. Tonight however, around 6:00-6:15 pm we entered the restaurant and was seated. Five minutes later, still no table staff. I finally looked over and saw two of the table staff having a moment with each other in a far booth. When he saw me looking at him he immediately got up but then yelled across the restaurant that he would be with us in a minute. Sorry, but that is bad training and I am not sure where the manager was but leadership in this store is lacking. We got up and left. I may be back but not sure.
Absolutely the worst restraunt I have been to in a while!!! After waiting 50 minutes for two tex mex cheese enchiladas, rice and beans it finally showed up. Waiter used some BS excuse that they were making the enchilada sauce fresh. At the same time he was telling me this 10 people in the same sitting area who came in after me finished their food and was paying the bill. 🤦🏻♂️ Do your self a favor and go elsewhere!!! Not impressed at all.
The table was in the sun and half of our party had to squint the whole time. There were no shades to close. The $7.99 queso comes in a small cup. The menu selection is small. The food was not great and was handed out to the wrong seats. We had not ever been so were not sure what our meals should look like. The steak meat was good. The rice was very dry. Nothing made up for the experience. Service was slow and rude. Hosts were especially unhelpful. Overall not a good experience. We had been so excited to try it. Three families with a total of 8 people. We were all dissatisfied.
It's usually a subpar experience but our kids love the place. 100$ pissed away, 1 wait time while others who came in after us were served. 2 of the 3 kids meals were inedible, wife's food was cold, sons food was supposed to be mild had the hottest sauce on it. Burger was so hard you could give someone a concussion with it. Poor server was trying her best, definitely not all on her. Zero management on the floor minus filing up chips and corny jokes. Couldn't find a manager to complain to. Definitely will not be back.
Ate dinner there on 1/2/25 and initially our experience was going great. The restaurant wasn’t super busy and we got our drinks and queso super fast! We placed our order and waited a long, long time for our food. Server was topping off our water and tea, etc., but clearly the kitchen was having issues. He never mentioned anything to us about the wait for food or status. We finally get three of our 6 plates delivered as well as two skillets with fajitas that were not sizzling like the others that came out. Server says he will go get the rest of the order, including the plate for our hungry toddler. He stops and takes an order at a nearby table. The three of us who got our food decided to eat while it was hot. We ate 90% of our meal before the server came back with one set of veggies/cheese etc for the first fajita plate. Goes to another table. As he comes past we ask if there is another fajita setup and where is the toddler meal? He said he’s getting it and “I only have two arms”. At this point we ask for the manager who comes out with the toddler’s meal and other setup. We told him we don’t want anything comped (he didn’t offer) but wanted to voice our shock at what the server said to us. He said “We are short staffed and I am in from Dallas to help out”. No apology. Nothing. I think the server was feeling burned out since he had no help running his food out with 6 orders and had to do it himself. It wasn’t super busy, but he definitely shouldn’t have snapped at us about it! Just know there are definitely major issues at this restaurant and we won’t be going to another Chuy’s anytime soon.
Went the other day with my mother in law and husband and it was absolutely horrible service . Our server was a teenager named Kaden and I personally witnessed him vaping behind the food bar while there’s food waiting to be taking out. and I had to personally go and ask for sour cream ! After we previously asked 30 minutes prior And wait that’s how I ended up witnessing him and other workers hit their vape. This restaurant is so unprofessional I have two other witnesses that was there when this took place..
Arrived at 630pm with a party of 8. Wanted thirty plus minutes until sat. Another party of 7 arrived around 650pm, got sat about five minutes after my party did. The party of seven was served and almost finished with their food before ours came out. We didn't even leave the building until 830pm. While the other party was long gone with thetr table cleared before we got a check. Food was okay, not great for the price. Service was terrible, don't know if it was the wait staff or the kitchen or a mix of the two. Either way this is my second time at any Chuy's, I will not be going back.
We ate chips (with spicy ranch) and sipped on beer for over an hour before we got our raw, cold, burnt, hard, tastless food. The best thing i ate was the ice!!!
This is just another example of a corporation ruining a great restaurant. First they forgot to add in $20 worth of our takeout order. So we went back. Started to unpack then realized they didn't include "the fixings" with my fajitas. I'm starving so I unroll my tortillas and discover they are raw. You can smell the dough. Awful experience. Don't waste your time
We came to Chuy’s to eat this evening and waited for over an hour and then finally asked about our food. Come to find out, they had not even started cooking our order, so we decided to leave. Our poor waitress was doing her best but said the kitchen was backed up. The restaurant was not too busy and we were not the only ones who decided to leave. We did order queso while we waited and it was really good.
Food had no taste. I ordered the chicken fajitas, a side salad with ranch and tacos to-go. Fajitas came with no tortillas haha, Rice and beans had no flavor, the chicken in my tacos were dry, with no flavor. Luckily I had the salad with ranch, I turned my fajita meal into a chicken salad haha, this place is a joke
