Opinions de Pondaseta Brewing Co. Amarillo
Absolutely one of the best breweries I’ve been to! Beers were top notch. Brewery was clean and gave off a great vibe. The staff was very friendly and really seem to enjoy working there. I’m in Amarillo a couple of times a year and this will definitely be on my list to stop by each time.
We had a great time. They have an awesome local and always changing beer menu plus a few regulars. Very friendly staff who were able to make helpful recommendations. Great seats inside and outside. Lots of parking. And I hear they have happy hour week days. Will be back for sure!
This is the place to get craft beer if you're in The Panhandle. Plenty of variety of styles. Couple of Oktober-themed Marzens and Festbiers along with IPAs, Sours, lagers, pilsners, and more. A little bit for everyone. Didn't feel like anything was really their speciality, just variety. The flagship hazy IPA, The Fast and The Hazy, was worth the price of admission. Clean, simple taproom. Good vibes.
Excellent brewery with friendly staff, ample seating inside and out. Outside seating also has both an enclosed area and picnic tables out in the sun. Staff is knowledgeable not only about what beers you might like but also what hops are in each. Our favorites were the Tangerine Walker and Half Send, however all of their beers were solid and worth a taste. Excited to visit again when travelling through.
Such a great place! We were visiting Amarillo and stopped for some delicious food and drinks, but also were met with the loveliest staff. Colby and Nealey were the best—they were so attentive and kind, and so sweet to our dog. This place is awesome!
The best in Amarillo, and one of the best in Texas! Wide range of beers. Relaxed, but professional atmosphere. Cool, metallic stickers. Excellent food truck that can be added to your tab (get the onion rings)
This place is truly fantastic. I wish we lived in Amarillo so we could frequent Pondaseta. We tried a flight and loved everything. We ended up buying a lot of beer to go to share with our friends back home (all in the brewing industry) and everyone was super impressed. Keep doing what you’re doing because it’s working! 🍻
Good beer and great service! There is a good truck outside, which looked like it had some good food. There is a decent variety of beer here, all the ones we tried were quality poura. This brewery is definitely worth a stop!
The place was really cleaned. Nice looking stuff. The Korean tacos was really good. Kind of a surprise and a tad spicy. The beer I had was good not overly hoppy.
The BEST pizza around, such amazing service, like I cannot recommend this place enough!!! The Basil Goat Pizza is amazinnngggg!!!!
Nice brewery with plenty of choices for the beer enthusiasts including a “dark IPA” that was unfamiliar to this connoisseur. Favorite would be the I-40 IPA(crisp bite), then Fast and Hazy(super hazy) followed by Let the People Dance (very lemony). Big indoor patio with plenty of seating
If you really like craft beer, this is the place. I have an IPA and the wife had a Sour. Both of them were simply fantastic. They have a good menu to order from. We placed our order at the bar and our burgers were delivered to our table. Very good burgers, excellent fries, and great fried pickles. Service was just as good as the beer and food.
Buzzing place with a great vibe and plenty of good tasting beer and a dog friendly patio. Cans are available for purchase from the fridge next to the front door. Live music also on Saturday nights! We bought a six pack to take home with us.
Hannah and Jesse rocked it. We were walked through an endless flight until we found out 4 favorites, which of course went home with us along with a nice priced swag bag of merch. Will will be back again and again. I must say the huds looks super handsome in his Pondseta button up. 😍

They have a large selection of locally brewed beer. There is outdoor, semi-enclosed and indoor seating. The service is excellent. If you’re hungry, there is a food truck. This is a great place to enjoy great beer (or wine).
Amarillo is not exactly known as a craft beer Mecca, but the ones we have a damn good. Pondaseta opened on Amarillo’s southwest side in fall 2018, survived COVID by shifting to curbside pickup and innovative ways to sell merch and snacks in order to remain open, and then picked up where it left off with an aggressive schedule of about one new beer every week. And I have yet to taste a beer I didn’t like that Kaleb and Trever have brewed. Because of that, Pondaseta has been my go-to throughout their five years, and now that they’re adding a second location in nearby Canyon, you know they’re on to something good. For a long time, independent food trucks and trailers provided pub grub, but then Pondaseta bought its own trailer, which makes it a brewpub. Kind of, I guess. The new location, though, will be in a huge historic depot, and will have a complete restaurant. And yes, I have already let it be known that I will be holding some of my office hours for students at that location. Because beer. Damn good beer. My faves at Pondaseta are I-40 IPA and The Fast And The Hazy, two of the four core beers. I have also loved on their other IPAs introduced for brief runs, as well as their Sky Pie Pecan Porter. Think desert beer. That one is for sipping, not slamming. For my dinner, I went with the Classic Burger, subbing the Beyond patty, and holding the cheese and special sauce. I wished not down with a couple of I-40s, and then short pours of their two winter beers, Festivus Winter Lager and Mukluk Winter Ale. Pondaseta is definitely worth taking the off-ramp from I-40, and cruising south on Coulter a couple of miles to get a few pints of a much better I-40.
Trevor has the brewing down to an art. I have yet to find a brew here that I do not like. I just have my favorites that are a must go to for me. He has the best staff in Amarillo. Always friendly and eager to answer all your questions about what is on tap.
Friendly staff, exceptional craft beer, menu of tasty snack food options and typically a food truck on the premises for more food options. Casual atmosphere and family friendly. Update, 3/2022: Pondaseta has their own food truck on premises. Check their social media for hours and special events!
Our favorite place to decompress. Lots of new beer to try all the time and the staff is fun. Their new food truck has some rocking tacos. Patio is fun when weather is nice.
Really good i-40 IPA! The wife also enjoyed the pale aura - New England style pale ale. Working brewery. Food truck out back. Worth checking out!
Good beer, great service, friendly staff. Highly recommend this place. If I’m ever back in Amarillo I’ll be stopping here again.
Stopped in for beer and a snack Saturday, 10/21 while visiting Palo Duro from Ft. Worth. The beer was tasty, and the food was amazing! Everyone was so warm and welcoming, from the employees to the patrons. We'll definitely be back in the next time we're out that way! Prost!!
We went to Pondaseta this afternoon.Terrill was our bartender/waiter. He is the most friendly person there! Ben, bartender, was friendly as well. Our beers were never empty before Terrill was right there asking us if we wanted another. We are so happy this place exists in Amarillo, TX and staffed with such great bartenders and staff!
Was early on a weekday when we were there, was quiet. Good beer selection, liked all 4 in my flight
Highly recommend this place if you’re in the neighborhood. Badly in need of a brewski after driving 12 hours through UT, NM, and Amarillo, and sure glad we did! Liked the IPA and hanging at the picnic table out back on a late evening before closing time. Just what we needed to destress from driving Rt 40 all day. Ben, the brewtender , gave us a sample of the dark IPA to try, and we bought ourselves a growler! We’ll be toasting with this dark beer, watching the skies grow dark during the 2024 eclipse, this month. Cheers!
Hadn't been in on a Saturday afternoon in a while, but I'm glad I stopped in. It was nice to see that they are still making some killer brews. Island Sky was amazing. Good to see familiar faces around there too. Terrence is always so quick and friendly.
Excellent selection of beers. But even more, the service was awesome. Christian and Austin were the servers when we got there a little after 9 but they were so nice, full of recommendations, and made for a really enjoyable brewery experience.
This place was great from beginning to end! As someone in the industry, I can honestly say that my experience here exceeded expectations. The staff was so kind and friendly, and the beers were great. From their lagers, so their sours...porter and low ABV stout, they knocked it out of the park! They also had a very clean taproom, and restrooms which is ALWAYS important and a plus. Go support these guys! They are the real deal.
We greatly enjoyed the excellent beer selection and the very nice dog friendly patio. They had a lot of very interesting barrel aged beers. We would come back for sure. A must stop for any visit to Amarillo.
Pondaseta Brewing Co. has a good variety of beers on tap. I had 2 flights plus a 1/4 pour and every one of the beers was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful but I must point out that Malachi was amazing with his knowledge of the brews and his communication skills are excellent. The next time we’re in Amarillo we will definitely visit Pondaseta Brewing Co.
Great food, great beers. Chill atmosphere. Been several times and always seem to enjoy it all around.
Enjoyed the beer here. Amarillo is my hometown. When I left to drive back to Austin, I picked up a six-pack to bring home on the way out.
Have always loved the atmosphere at Pondaseta. Always great service. But I really want to give a MAJOR shout out to the food truck tonight. I had a party of 4. 3 who have never been to pondeseta. When we order food we were told it would be about 20 or 30 mins. Understandable. They were busy. But the food was out hot, fresh & perfect. We enjoyed the live music & will come back again. Our new favorite place.
We were camping at Palo Duro and decided to check out this place in Amarillo before hitting the park; so glad we did! The staff was super nice, very helpful and kind. The GM Matthew answered our questions and chatted with us, and comped us some onion rings when he saw our order was a bit off. The food was delicious, the beers were excellent, and the service was fantastic! We ended up coming back the next day for more and got some pint glasses to take home! Definitely recommend and will return if I'm back up that way.
A great selection of in house brewed beers. Our server, Lance, was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out some great choices. Can't wait to return and try some other beers.
From Amarillo, but living in AR and stopped here on the Christmas break. This place is awesome. The guys are so kind and helpful. The draft list is excellent. Only didn’t finish one sample. Kid friendly and were super accommodating with all our requests. Highly recommend.
Some of the guys from the brewery paid us a visit at Ex Novo in New Mexico and left us an assortment of beers. Really cool dudes and absolutely solid beers. Tropical Becky is the bee's knees! Can't wait to visit next time I'm in Amarillo.
Great food and great drinks! Friendly staff & they were super kind to our toddler.
Loved this place. Jeremiah was so nice. He was very knowledgeable about the beers. Had such a friendly smile. Was high on life. I would come back just to visit with him. Beers tasted delicious.
Ben did a great job explaining their beers. Delicious of course. We had never been there and really enjoyed it. Inside, outside and outside under cover seating.
I absolutely love this place.. They have a guy named DAVIS there that is the rain man of all that is BEER.. I'm new to the craft beer world but, DAVIS took the time to set down and really explain the flavor profiles in such a way that even I could understand.. If you you were ever ify about trying something new DONT BE GO IN and HOLLA AT DAVIS That guy is AMAZING . The beer, Homemade Sangria , and cider is all AMAZING.. I LOVE THIS PLACE.. SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF...
Amarillo is so much better because Pondaseta exists. And it's great to see it start to show up in every restaurant and store throughout Amarillo. Park Road 5, I-40 are both classics. The staff are wonderful and the environment is a great place to spend time during the warm months in Amarillo. If you're passing through and looking for a beer, Pondaseta is a must.
The beer tastes suspiciously like beer 🍻 They also have curds that seem to be made from fried cheese 🧀 Ranch dressing tastes good on most things. Go shorty. It’s your birthday 🥳
Every experience here is new and refreshing. Every drink is unique, full of flavor, and the highest quality. I’m proud of this company being Texas Panhandle local. This flight was right to left: Martin & Martin Stout Smokey goodness Razz Becky Light and crisp Blackberry entanglement: Great tingling fruit flavor Jersey shore shotgun wedding: my favorite out of this flight with blackberry a close second You drink the jersey shore you are automatically taken back to your 20’s, the flavor remind you of the beach and sunscreen with a fantastic fruit flavor that is unmatched by anything else available.
Excellent craft, awesome service 👏🏻, girl with the sick tats and beautiful smile made it memorable 😀
ERIK WAS THE DOPEST SERVER EVER! We tried everything that he recommended on the menu & nothing missed the mark! 10/10 experience!
Great beer, great selection! Erik is the best beer tender I’ve ever had!
5/5. The bartender, Erik, recommended the Jalepeno business pizza and it absolutely rocked.
The food is great and Michael did an amazing job at trivia! We come back because its so fun and they make us feel so welcome.
Welcoming, friendly and attentive staff, fantastic beer and food, dog friendly patio, what more could you ask for?! This spot came highly recommended as I was driving through the area on a road trip and it definitely did not disappoint! Cheers to the Pondaseta crew!
Fantastic beer and super nice staff..
Great beer at this local Amarillo brewery. There was quite a few of options on tap. My favorite was the i40. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is from out of town or even your locals who have not tried this brewery. There was a food truck outside but I didn't have a chance to try any food from there.
Always a pleasant experience, and today we invited family with us for their first visit. Our only regret is that we didn’t show up earlier to enjoy more time before closing. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate for me and my service dog plus 3 others in our party. (I mention this because other places we have visited in town are rude and/or unaccepting of service animals)
Great little brewery. Tasty beer. Superb, knowledge servers. Both air conditioned and outside places to drink. Nice place to spend a few hours. The food looked good but we didn't try any.
Great beer and food truck. Even the hopwater (pondwater) is tasty and refreshing. I recommend trying the fried elote - yum! We loved the dog friendly patio. The bartenders are great and one of them even brought out a little treat for our dogs.
This place is top tier!!! The owners are absolutely FANTASTIC humans. The beer selection is phenomenal, they really know what they are doing. The food is delicious, the staff is soo kind and welcoming. 10 stars for Pondesta!!!
Pondaseta is FANTASTIC! First, the variety of beer is fabulous & numerous. Second, the quality is wonderful - from the sours through the reds & bock, the taste was on point. But most importantly, the service is spectacular!!! Jeremiah greeted us the moment we arrived and led us through all of our options. He made sure we were completely comfortable and pleasantly entertained through our entire visit. Truly, Jeremiah made our night & will always bring a smile to our face when we think of our visit to Amarillo!
This place was phenomenal. We were traveling through with out dogs and they were very accommodating despite the bad weather in putting a table on the patio. The customer service was fantastic, regularly bringing us water for the dogs. Beers were unique and adventurous. Small but well curated food menu.
Nice Brewery. Above par offerings, a shame we won't work our way through the list. Ironically went for live music at a tied house, Bud, Corona, light lagers galore... but in the fridge were two cans from Pondaseta. Not sure the music sounded better, but we had a better time, having berr that suited our palates better.
Go here!! Where I’m from in New England I’m spoiled without so many great breweries within an hour from me. I wasn’t expecting much from a small operation in Amarillo TX but I was pleasantly surprised! Can’t speak to any food options because I just came to try a couple flights but I was very impressed. Shout out to Jeremiah (call him Jerry) and Ben! Great guys. Top notch beer! If and when I should hit up Amarillo again you damn well better know I’ll be stopping at Pondaseta!! (Too many exclamation points?) p.s. they have cans to go in the cooler too!

We loved this place! We were travelling through and wanted a cool place to check out. Highly recommend! The beer is delicious and the staff friendly. With COVID, you have to purchase an additional "item" with each beer, but totally reasonable. We got a pint glass for $1 and chips and salsa for $2. Totally worth it. Live music was playing when we were there on a Wednesday night. Super cool place.
Every time we come through Amarillo we stop here. They have a great staff that is super friendly and a great beer variety. The merch is awesome and I always get compliments on my items from them. One time we stopped in during a storm and the head brewer chatted with us and made our experience wonderful despite the awful weather. Overall outstanding experience
Solid beers. Upscale bar food available anytime, food truck for dinner (after 5p weekdays anyway) and restaurant next door that delivers to the brewery. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating. Large menu of beer and a selection of wine and ciders for those that come with you but don’t dig beer. When we went (March) they offered multiple IPAs, saisons, & an imperial stout, to name a few. IPAs were juicy and no cardboard taste. Solid.
This place is tucked away and quite the spot to hang out! Great brews and relaxed and fun environment. Very creative beers and merch to go along with it. I fell in love with their logo and especially enjoyed sitting in the enclosed outside area where we sat right next to the vessels! Drinking with the Mother of Dragons was pretty entertaining 🤣
ERIK was a FANTASTIC server! We were visiting from out of town and he made us feel right at home. He made some great menu suggestions and my family LOVED his suggestions. You can tell he loves what he does and he really enjoys helping customers. We would definitely recommend this spot!
Great atmosphere. Good pricing. Mostly good food. Excellent happy hour. Great beer selection.
The atmosphere here is truly out of this world, creating a wonderfully unique experience for everyone. It's refreshing to encounter such a positive and polite attitude from all staff members( thanks again, Brandon for your recommendations.) The burgers are absolutely amazing, exceeding all expectations with their delicious flavors. Furthermore, the selection of beer is also noteworthy and complements the overall dining experience perfectly. You'll find yourself enjoying every moment of your visit here.
This is a great brewery. The beers are incredible. Great service, friendly staff. Food is good. Charcuterie board needs help. Not worth $22. Great place though.

Pondaseta Brewing is a nice spot of local color. We always prefer to drink a brewery’s beer at their tap room to experience their beer and culture in their native environment. Pondaseta has a nice tap with with plentiful seating indoors and out, on site food options, and plenty of cool merch to rep their brand. Beer tenders are nice, friendly crowd, and a large selection of beer styles for you to find something you will enjoy. Definitely check this place out when you are in Amarillo.

Had my first visit last night. Great atmosphere, awesome tasting beers and outstanding staff. I would have given a 5 but the DJ’s music was way too loud and would have liked to hear more current music. We will be back!
Great tasting beers and it looked like a nice place, but we weren’t allowed to come in with a small dog. They told us we could sit outside in the patio, but the air temperature was in the low 40s and none of the heaters were on. It was pretty harsh, we had been driving since morning from Albuquerque. I ended up buying some beers in cans and eventually had them at home.
I have been to your brewery 2 times now and I absolutely love your beers. Amarillo really needed a place like this and the location is perfect. My husband has been there 6 times already, he likes to bring clients in as much as possible and so far they have all really enjoyed the place and have said they respect your talents as far as creating delicious beer. I agree with them. Your place has become a really popular topic of discussion, either people are talking about wanting to come in and check it out and those that have been there and just love it. For a place without a traditional kitchen, your food options are pretty good. The meat and cheese boards are a bit expensive but they taste pretty good. I know it’s a brewery and you aren’t catering to children but it would be nice if you had at least one kid friendly option. The queso is a little too spicy for my children but again, I know you aren’t catering to kids. The only other suggestion I have is that you guys need to have a diet soda option. My sister is diabetic so when she comes with me she can only nave water. She said she likely wouldn’t return because there really isn’t much of option for her when she is there. Other than the stuff mentioned above, you have a great place. You’re probably wondering why I only gave three stars if I like your establishment so much but there is a male bartender who is just really uninterested in your customers. He may even be an owner, I don’t know. But every time myself or my husband has come in he just has this demeanor about him that we are bothering him. I ordered a flight on two occasions and he was visibly irritated. Why that would bother him, I have no idea. He is usually standing around talking to what I would assume are his friends and myself and my husband always feel like we are interrupting him when we try to order. The guy I’m taking about is the one with tattoos, gauged ears, a and a black beard. He’s just not welcoming at all. Today we had a coupe different bartenders, the other two were really really nice and acted like they really wanted to be there. One pretty tall guy and a dark haired girl. Again, not sure who owns the place and who just works there but the tall guy and the little dark haired girl were both awesome! They answered our questions, she asked about our holiday plans, suggested food, and let my friend have a couple small tasters so she could find one she liked (not a beer drinker at all). She suggested the skycap saying it was her favorite and my friend really enjoyed it. The tall guy was just super polite and was really attentive. The girl was so friendly and genuinely interested in us. Sadly, the other guy with the dark beard is kind of a jerk. Every time we come he comes off that way. Sorry to say. Hopefully he’s not the owner. Thank you for opening your brewery on this side of town, you make fantastic beer and we love unwinding at your place. Thanks for reading this long review.
Stopped by on our way through. Good beer selection. Barrel aged was spot on but the cobbler gobbler was less than desirable, unfortunately. They're following covid protocol. Didn't get to try too many beers as they're trying to abide by the 51% rule to stay open so you have to make a "combo" purchase to get a beer.
EDIT. Bumped it up a star for the owner reaching out and honestly I had a great time Monday, I just wish the staff member with the man bun and long beard had the same work ethic as the ones working Monday night. Overall though I enjoyed my time there for the most part. Maybe adding a second staff member would help him be more proactive and stay on track? I don’t know the first thing about running a brewery but just an idea! I appreciate it. Will definitely come give it another try next time I am in town. Honestly it was pretty good! Just inconsistent. Needed a place to swing by and grab a beer when I got into town. It was a trivia night and with how busy it was I was super impressed by how quick and friendly the staff was, even got me to play! You could tell the were working hard to get everyone’s orders, pick the place up as people came and made me feel pretty welcome for a tourist. Felt like they were talking to a fellow local and checked in numerous times to see how I was doing and making suggestions for my next beer to try. However came back in the afternoon around late lunch time the following day and the vibe was completely different. Staff was short and busy talking to what seemed like other staff off clock or maybe even the managers or owners? They weren’t wiping anything down, when people left trays of leftover food sat at tables for forever, never asking if I needed a refresher, just had a 180 feel from what I had experienced the night before. However the beer was good though, solid selections to chose from. I would suggest going in the evening from my personal experience. Have to give them another try next time I’m passing through.

Beer is okay. Amarillo seven. Real world five. Only one person bartending on a Friday night so to say that service is lacking is an understatement. No table service either. I think they have competition in Amarillo would only be a good thing.
Their beers are great. I used to look forward to this place as an easy stop when passing through Amarillo. Not dog friendly? Totally fine but this place is anti dog. No shade, no water, and borderline aggressive if you try to stay there with a dog. Very disappointing, I used to fill my trunk with merch and beers on my way to CO.
When are you bringing back the Tex Mex tacos? I live for those things. They are the air I breathe.
After an exciting start and years of loyalty, I'm sorry to say that I've visited Pondaseta for probably the last time. Service has steadily degraded, particularly over the last year. I think there are only a couple of staff left who honestly seem to enjoy working there, and they certainly aren't the ones working the counter. Friday night my wife and I walked the dogs over to have an early beer and bite to eat. Place is dead. See some books around; ask about them. Cool, yall are having teacher appreciation night. I appreciate teachers; my wife taught for years. Go to order food; get told no you're not a teacher. Left half my beer on the table. With friends like these, eh? Adios, amigos. Christian, you're cool.
