My new favorite restaurant. Some of the best flavors I’ve ever had in my life. Feels like your sitting in a moms dining room. It’s a MUST try for any foodie.
Nice food ,clean restaurant and freindly staff.
Food was awsome wife and I weren't sure what to expect. Surpassed our expectations and will definitely return.
Great food also if you’re a truck driver they have parking behind the building
Best restaurant I have ever seen I will recommend everyone to go check it out
Can't wait to return. Friendly people, delicious food.
I am rating this place for food quality and service. The building looks a bit beat up; it's not on the beaten path if you are traveling along I-40; and it's not fast food. But this just means they have to make up for this with flavor--and they do. I had the rice and goat meat. It sounds plain but it was full of flavor. The meat was tender. The rice I believe was Basmati and infused with flavors from the meat and other flavors I don't know how to identify. There were a few vegetables on the side, which give more of a crunchy texture if you choose. They also had some bananas for the kids, who loved the rice but not the meat. This dish is not spicy by itself, though they do have hot sauce if you are into that. Finally, we also had a wonderful bowl of soup. I don't even know what it was besides delicious. If good food full of flavor but not overpowering is what you are looking for, you should skip the Big Texan and stop by Somali African Safari.
Great restaurant with great employees. I had a goat meat with Somali rice cooked with different flavors and spices. Meat was tender and not over cooked but delicious and tasty. It wasn't pricey, just 15 dollars per meal plus 2 dollars for Somali tea. Definitely worth to come back.
I travel and I’m always on Route 66 this will be my to go restaurant for sure Bashir what a guy food here is something else most definitely coming back
Eat here!! Very good food. Goat, chicken and rice is fantastic. Step out of your "known zone" and try something new. Don't let the building fool you. They have a lot of different spices for sale also. Hidden gem for sure.
Great food of my ethnic Somali and East African dishes…. I have been coming to this restaurant since 2015 when ever I passed through i got to get the rice and the goat meat the soup is delicious too i must at least get two orders… very friendly family.
Traditional African ambiance and service, tried Serbian rice with mutton—good mild spicy flavor, enjoyed fish with rice. Food is exceptional
A little off the beaten path from the Highway but well worth it! Fast and fresh. Some of the best pho ever, wife had pad tai, daughter udon chicken and we were all raving.
The Somali food over here is spectacular. You gotta get the rice or Pasta with goat meat. It’s very taste. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. I recommend the food.
The best african food in Amarillo. The owner is very nice guy and very friendly and very helpful. Specially if you are a truck driver they do have a truck parking. I’m definitely recommend this restaurant.
The best Somalian Goat and Rice Ive tried in my entire life. I always go in every time Im passing by and take more to go with me. 🙌🏽
I swung around the back of the property with my 18 Wheeler, parked near a tree with plenty of shade. My first time ever trying Somali food. It definitely won’t be my last. They topped up my sweet chai tea with some fine milk! Their “tortillas” are made from scratch, definitely not store bought. I can’t wait to be back delivering to Pepsi or Tyson again.
I stopped in here after hiking and the food and service were both too notch. We got the goat and rice, the options were limited, but that makes sense and what they do, they do well. The goat was perfectly savory, tender, and rich. And the rice was beautifully seasoned and cooked. The gentleman helping us seemed knowledgeable about his food, and slightly amused we were there. From the outside I was a little skeptical but the inside was neat and well worth it.
A hidden gem for truckers real East African dishes taste of home Somalia
The food was delicious. The woman at first said she only had beef and fish and then she brought out spaghetti and rice and this soup that was delicious. The food was halal and the spices were wonderful. The chai was perfect. Definitely would recommend going here. The Somali woman running this place really knows how to cook Mashallah.
We had a very enjoyable meal of goat meat on rice and a bowl of beef stew. One plate was plenty for two of us. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we tried to figure out what to order.
Ok the place doesn't look appealing from the road, but it does get a 97 out of 100 from the heath department. The food is authentic and the noodles have enough flavor to be a meal by themselves. The goat perfectly cooked, tender with little gristle that can be common with cheap cuts. The people are very nice if you engage with them. No menus so you have to ask what you want. Just get goat, noodles, and rice.
For $20 we received all of this wonderful food that was seasoned to perfection. How could it not disappear? Granted, I am stuffed! The spaghetti is slightly spicy - not tomatoey, which was not only really good, but paired with the chicken it had a perfect flavor. We were also bought a slightly spicy sauce to add to the chicken. So good. The meat dish we ate using the bread as a sort of wrap. Tear off a piece and pinch up some meat. Here too, amazing flavor. I am looking forward to going back!
Food is always good never disappointed just a little pricey that’s it
This is new Somali restaurant the food here is so delicious and tasty I ate the square dish whichs rice and beef cubes very nice definitely coming back to this restaurant
The restaurant doesn't look in very good shape but the food is good I gave it a five-star

This place was so AMAZING! The customer service was the best I have ever had! The owner gave us free Chai, refused to let us tip her AND gave us a discount. The other person explained the whole menu to us, gave us free goat soup to try and recommend what we should have! This is our new favorite place for sure! If you are wanting to try something new I highly recommend here!
A gem if you enjoy Somali food! I enjoyed eating here while in Amarillo. The proprietor is not a native English speaker. At first I thought I was getting the cold shoulder for being white, but then on my second visit some African folks on a road trip to California stopped in while I was dining , and she was prickly and obstinate to them too!! Ha! So yes, service is not why one would come here. My goat curry was delicious.
For $22 plus tax, I got a humongous serving of goat, with rice and a side bowl of curry, small salad and a hot chai tea. Delicious! Came with a wonderful hot sauce on the side. Like makes your eyes tear up a bit it's so good. Incredible depth of flavors. Texas sized serving. Yum! Oh! And they care about the quality of water they serve. It's not tap water, it's from a pure water place. I care about my water quality and I was happy to hear they do too.
I probably just had the best dinner experience I have had in a long time. Great food and great customer service. I highly recommend.
The guy working there was very kind and generous
The BEST Somali food!! Not to mention, it's all halal. We arrived in Amarillo late in the evening and found this place still open. It may not look much by appearance, but it is the best food you will ever eat. We ate chicken and rice and served a salad and a banana. The brother was very kind and accommodating. I can't wait to return again one day.
Respectful mama owner who makes sure food is served with open arms; delicious food, welcoming faces. And after food, please don’t forget to try their spicy Somali tea with milk! Fantastic!

This is my 3rd time coming here for the goat meat & rice. Portion of the rice is plenty but goat meat not so much...as well as the customer service here can be improved. $Cash only makes things inconvenient.
Liked there food. The environment is not good. They have to improve a lot. Should try at least to keep the tables, floors clean. Language barrier is also there. They only accept cash.
I've been here twice now and had a wonderfully delicious meal both times. There is a definite language barrier but basically you choose from beef, chicken, or goat meat. If there is anything else it may vary. You really can't go wrong. They are all good. Their rice is delicious. I hope to make it back again and try their spaghetti.
I’ve been here multiple times, and it’s always fantastic.
Food was great. Cash only. Also I'm white and they charge me 30 dollars for 2 plates of spaghetti and beef. My buddy called in and spoke their language and was charged 15 dollars for the same meal. I am reporting this to the BBB. I was looking for a permanent place to eat evey week. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Walked in and asked if they had goat meat stew and the woman frowned at me and said they only had spaghetti. And when I said thank you to leave, she didn't say anything back. Just rude and uncalled for. Won't be returning. Wouldn't recommend.
Use to be fresh now the food is old warmed in the micro wave and only one choice of food. Rice and helib.. Too bad the truckers have no options while in Amarillo.
Three days ago I stop by to buy Iftar, first time trying Somalian food, I bought fish with rice, three hours later I stop at the truck stop for Iftar, open the the food at the microwave, I swear to Allah the food smells like a dead animal inside. I couldn't eat it, first time and last time ever. Worst food ever.
If I could put 0 stars I would!. I didn't even last 5 minutes. The lady at the counter was so disrespectful! I asked her for a menu, and she practically throw it at the table with bad manners. I got out of there inmediatly!. I didn't eat, but if the quality of their food is the same as their service, do not even think going to this place.
I use to love this place, but ever since the woman took over, she has sent my family and I away 3 times! While Ethiopian people are walking in and she does not send anyone of them away!!! I almost cried. We come from west texas to eat the food.
I would give a zero if the reviews had option. WORST LADY SITTING IN THE AREA. I went to grab the menu, she literally snatched it out of my hand. Very disgusting and rude behavior. DONT GO. Looks very sketchy place as well from outside.
This Somali restaurant I have bad experience own lady no respect anyone I don't know how she get the fi ve stars only people go there is truck drivers she used take cash app before now she take zelle everything u send to add 2 more dollars small plate rice is $20 + 2 more dollars I will never ever go there in my life again because I work my money hard no for free serve people good are we going to open all the restaurants
The old lady at this restaurant is rude and refuses to serve me when I cross bye, as a truck driver I always checking a halal restaurant while traveling in many states didn’t ever get this kind of rudeness. Even though the restaurant is old and dirty looking but I went there just to pick a halal food, this was my second time, the first one was bad also, but I gave so many reason for that kind of treatment, but this time I got the worst and So sad!! This is not an acceptable behavior at all! Or she has to put on a sign says “Somali only” if that is the case. After I wrote the above comment, I tried to check some of the comments other people gave and I found out other non-Somali people are also refused to get the service and treated badly. This might be a potential act of discrimination and it has to be investigated
Very rude old lady and their drinks in the fridge are expired. The old arrogant lady didn't wanba hear that the canned pineapple drinks were expired and still made us pay coz we opened them. The place is old and the food doesn't taste fresh. It was like prepared in the morning and she was serving it at 5pm! Don't waste ur money here
