Opinions de Hurtado Barbecue Arlington
We were welcomed so kindly from our first encounter walking in the door as the first customers of the day. Everyone was SO SO kind. That alone, means so much! We were given a great suggestions. Our food came out promptly. It was delicious! We came on a day that they had the beef ribs. My husband and son LOVED it. After we ate we were given the tres leches banana pudding. Also amazing! I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. If we ever return to Texas we will definitely make it a point to stop by and mention this place to any friends visiting. Thanks for starting our day off perfect, Hurtado’s!
I (Mike) and the Smoke-Forged Brotherhood hit the road again for their bi‑monthly BBQ quest, and this month the smoke trail led us straight to Hurtado Barbecue hurtadobbq in Arlington, the original spot, the birthplace, the one we’ve been meaning to try so we could finally say we’ve had the full Hurtado experience. We showed up early and still found a line forming, but luck was on our side, we landed 3rd in line and were feeling pretty proud of ourselves because that line got pretty long. The Arlington location has that perfect mix of cozy indoor charm and a great outdoor area, so naturally we grabbed a table outside and settled in for what turned into a full-on BBQ feast. Three out of four of us went big with The El Jefe, because why not go all in? • Brisket • Sausage • Pork belly burnt ends • Turkey • Pulled pork • Ribs • Plus two sides The rebel of the group went for tacos and brisket, and honestly? Those tacos ended up being one of the biggest hits of the day. If you know me, you already know the rule: brisket and turkey are my non-negotiables at any BBQ joint. • The brisket had good flavor and held its own but was a little dry but was still tasty. • The turkey was really good, moist and done right. • The pulled pork surprised me in the best way. I’m not usually a pulled pork guy, but theirs? I’d order it again without hesitation. • Everything we had was good and we all agreed we would get it again. Sides: • Hatch chili mac & cheese - instant fan favorite. • Texas Twinkies - loved by everyone that tried it, and the pimento cheese inside was a genius move. • Tres Leches Banana Pudding - I’m convinced a couple of these guys would make the drive back just for this dessert. (I am sure I would to but I stay away from the sugar). Great food. Great atmosphere. Great company. Hurtado’s Arlington location absolutely lived up to the hype and delivered the kind of experience that makes these BBQ quests worth every mile. The only thing that would have made it better is if eljefehurtado Brandon Hurtado could have joined us. Maybe next time! Y’all go check out the Arlington Hurtado location. #bbq #hurtado
Coming from Memphis, Tennessee, I’ve always heard all my life that the best BBQ is back home. Ironically, even when I lived there, I rarely ate BBQ. I didn’t truly become a BBQ lover until I moved here and tried this place with my husband—and let me tell you… absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, you can tell why it’s always a full house. The food is consistently top-tier, full of flavor, and worth every bit of the hype. If you’re hoping to eat inside, I highly recommend coming right when the doors open because it fills up fast for a reason. On top of the incredible food, the service takes the experience to another level. Emily was phenomenal—friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. She knows the menu well and adds that extra touch that turns a great meal into a memorable one. If you’re coming, do yourself a favor: come early, come hungry, for sure get a Texas Twinkie , and ask for Emily. You won’t regret it. 🔥🍖 These photos don’t do justice
This place was amazing, the brisket was a little bland, but the BBQ sauces they give allow you to choose flavor. I had the Mac and cheese, the street corn, and the banana pudding as well, all amazing! I was a little confused by the two slices of bread, not even toast, but overall great meal and would 100% go back!
Amazing BBQ! Me and my colleague got a Jefe sharing platter and to be honest we could not finish, so much food and everything was so delicious. Too bad they ran out of burnt ends, I was hoping to try that. Brisket was proper 👌 Service was really good, shout-out to Emily, so friendly and made us feel so welcomed. Will definitely come back.
Decided to experience the original locale today and it didn’t disappoint. Food was spot on. Service was great. If it wasn’t a cold day then the patio would have been great. Sliced beef was on point. Sausage was maybe the best I’ve ever had. Omg folks, the tres leches banana pudding? Worth the drive in its own right. Amazing. The folks in front of us got the last piece of the hatch corn bread so we will have to return for that some other time. Will definitely be back.
I have eaten here a couple of times and it has actually gotten better over the years. I got a 2 meat plate, brisket and pulled pork with loaded mashed potatoes and bacon braised cabbage. Meats were cooked to perfection, nice and moist but no big pieces of fat or grizzle. Seasoning was great. I had the Aztec Gold sauce on the pork but the brisket was naked. I don't like sauce on brisket as I want to taste the flavor of the meats. The Aztec Gold was perfect for the pork, has some mustard in it, mouth watering good. At a lot of BBQ joints the sides are an afterthought and to be honest would just as well go without. This is where they have stepped it up. The bacon braised cabbage was great, still had a little crisp to it but cooked completely not the slop on your St Patty's day pork and cabbage, seasoned well and nice pieces of bacon throughout. The loaded mash was just as good, seasoned well with lots of fresh green onions, bacon and cheddar cheese. I guess the good thing is I will be back in the area at least twice a year going forward!!
this was truly the best BBQ i had in dallas! we had family from florida and they enjoyed it. the service from beginning to end was 10/10. the food was amazing to say the least. jasmine was an absolute gem. she had the best service & was extremely attentive. i wish her manager was in the restaurant so i could explain to them the amazing person they have. she deserves 1000000% a raise. she made our experience so much better, truly.
First time here and beat expectations. I got the two meat platter with pork ribs and sausage. Ribs were juicy and packed with flavor, sausage was flavorful. Man N Cheese was creamy with a hint of spice, potato salad was smooth with crispy bacon bits. Atmosphere was great and staff were friendly! Love the peach habanero BBQ sauce.
We have been doing a BBQ tour for our week in Dallas and this is on the list to come to again. Google did me wrong the first time we tried to navigate amd we somehow ended up somewhere else. We had the big red barbacoa taco the birria tacos, amd brisket Toscana. The birria tacos were amazing! I wanted to get some additional meats but have just been full from the week. The fusion of Mexican and BBQ is fantastic and had us wondering why there are not more places doing this. The crunch on the taco combined with the brisket and cheese has thebperfect blend of texture and taste. The seating inside is limited but there is lots of room outside amd on Friday night a one man band playing as well. For what we got it was about $50 after drinks. The brisket tostadas were also really good with refried beans, guacamole a spicy sauce brisket and cheese piled high. They are open until they run out of food but they seem to have it figured out pretty well.
We stopped by Hurtado Barbecue in Arlington a little after 1 p.m. and lucked out with one of the last parking spots right beside the restaurant. There was a line outside the door, but it moved quickly. The staff taking orders were super friendly and patient, which we really appreciated since we’re not locals and had a few questions. We chose to sit in the outdoor area next to the restaurant, and our food came out pretty fast. Everything was flavorful, smoky, and perfectly cooked! Texas really knows how to do BBQ, and Hurtado absolutely delivers! Highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.
Oh. My. Word. Hurtado Barbecue is Our Happy Place. Excellent food and service (with a shout-out to CeCe💕 for her friendly help and hospitality) we love this place. Everything we have tried has slayed. We especially love the brisket tostados—it’s loaded with meat and is fantastic. And every time I bite in a smoky and tender pork rib, a tear rolls down my face. Mmmmmm. It’s that good.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hurtado BBQ in Arlington is top-notch truly one of the best barbecue spots in Texas! The quality, flavor, and presentation are unmatched. Every bite is perfectly smoked, juicy, and full of that authentic Texas taste that’s hard to find anywhere else. The brisket melts in your mouth, the ribs are perfection, and the sides complement everything beautifully. The service is just as impressive fast, friendly, and professional. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do. The atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and full of good energy. Definitely a place that delivers every time top-tier BBQ, five stars all the way!
Natalie was amazing took care of every question I had and even let me sample a side before I bought it. Definitely would be an amazing person in management if she’s not already part of the team. The food came out in perfect timing, it was fresh and tasted amazing. My Paloma was great. Not watered down and made perfect. Definitely will be bringing friends and family back so we can see Natalie and experience great BBQ & phenomenal service
I really enjoyed the food. I got the big potato with burnt ends with a side of mac and cheese. Came out pretty fast. Food was tasty as was the barbecue sauce. There was plenty of parking. It seems like they have quite the variety on the menu, I will have to come back and try other selections. These also had outdoor seating and a bar.
Best bbq in the DFW area, and it's not even close! Meats great, sides are amazing. Go here, you will not be disappointed!

Great food with local ownership. Not much seating inside but several picnic tables outside. Food had great taste with good portions. Average BBQ prices.

This was our first time, but everytime I've passed by, there's been a line. I will say this, the sides I had- hatch mac and cheese and brisket beans- they were fire!🔥😋 I got the 3 meat: brisket, turkey and chicken. I was sad they were out of beef ribs.🫤 The meat was ok, and a little cold. What I do appreciate is because I have a pork allergy, they cut the meat on a different board. The line moved fast and the sit with complete strangers comfort seating was fun. All the servers were all really nice. A friend of mine told me to get the tortillas, but I forgot. 🤦🏾♀️ I guess I'll have to go back to try the beef ribs and tortillas!🤭
There was a line out the door, but we were only in it about 10 minutes. The service is OUTSTANDING. Staff is busy but they take their time with customers. They've got a dog friendly patio. Neighborhood cat stops by and says hello. Everything we got was tasty. cHubby thought the brisket was a little dry, but still good. I thought it was seasoned well. Their sauces have a little twist. We got a mix...Mac n cheese, tostadas, brisket, tacos, beans... the cornbread was really nice. Tres Leches Banana Pudding was one of my favorites. Definitely worth the stop!
My family flew in from California and New York, and I wanted to kick off their visit with some real Texas BBQ. We were staying near AT&T Stadium, so I posted in a local foodie group and Hurtado Barbecue was highly recommended by locals. We gave it a shot—and here’s the honest breakdown. We were greeted at the door and waited less than 15 minutes in line. The staff at the counter was friendly and super patient as I explained it was our first visit. I told them I had to try the brisket and was hoping for the jalapeño cheddar sausage, but unfortunately, it wasn’t available that day. So I went with the burnt ends and pork spare ribs, paired with mac and cheese and coleslaw. The rest of our group ordered trays with chicken, street corn, loaded mashed potatoes, beans, and more brisket. We did a round-robin taste test across our trays, and here’s what we thought: Meats: • Ribs stole the show—tender, juicy, fall-off-the-bone. Easily the favorite. • Brisket was flavorful, but inconsistent. Some slices were perfect, others dry and needed a good helping of sauce to help them out. • Burnt Ends were hit or miss. A few were dry, but the good ones were like sweet meat candy. • Sausage wasn’t a winner for any of us—wouldn’t reorder. • Chicken also underwhelmed—pretty dry. Sides: • Potato Salad surprised everyone. Creamy, flavorful, and not your standard chunky style—easily the favorite. • Beans were solid and flavorful. • Mac and Cheese was a bit bland. • Loaded Mashed Potatoes looked great but tasted like plain mashed potatoes with cheese—lacking flavor. • Mexican Street Corn was the least liked across the board—just not the flavor we were expecting. One thing I really appreciated: a staff member noticed we hadn’t touched the corn and offered to replace the side without us even asking. That attention to customer experience goes a long way, and honestly, I’d come back just for how kind and attentive the staff was throughout our visit. Sauces: The Sweet & Spicy BBQ sauce was the winner hands-down. The Aztec Gold and Mango Habanero? Hard pass from our table. All in all, while there were a few misses, the highlights (those ribs, the service, and the potato salad!) made this a great kickoff meal for the family visit. We’ll definitely be back to try more—and hopefully catch the jalapeño sausage next time!
Really enjoyed the BBQ here. It’s definitely top-notch 👌🏽 The chicken was really nice, but the skin, though delicious, was a bit too sweet for my taste. The spare ribs were a bit drier than I’m used to, but also still really good. The brisket was ideal 👌🏽 The cornbread was really nice also. Maybe a tad sweet for my taste but, it was soft, crumbly, fresh, and delicious 😄

So I was looking for a bbq place that had moist brisket but I didnt want to drive to far so I found this place. Went in there and the line was almost out the door but they was moving pretty fast. I. The line you can see the meats as they prepare it for customers. I saw the brisket and was instantly happy because it looks moist and good. Due to that i ordered a 1/2 lb of brisket and the potato salad to go. Got my food in less than 10 minutes and is usually check it before I leave. Well im glad I did because my brisket did not look anything like what was being served to the customers dining in so I was very disappointed. I asked them if this was considered the most brisket because mine looked nothing like everyone else that was being served. They stated it was so I decided to return it and got the ribs instead. So as far as the ribs they were great!! I just wished I was able to get the moist brisket like the other customers that was enjoying it. I will just try again some other time.
