Opinions de Seva Astoria
Had the most wonderful first time at Seva!! Super tasty food, phenomenal and attentive service. Will definitely be coming back.
This place is always solid. I have been coming here for years. Never disappoints and is always delicious! Service is always friendly. Highly recommend!
I love coming to Seva, been here few times, they accommodated us with everything we asked for all the times, whether we dined in or take out. Last time i ordered a pick up and they were so generous to give me extra mango lasi order, and extra samosas, from the house😍. My favorite is Malai Tikka and kabab : the interior decor is very welcoming, and last time i dined in they were playing some amazing songs which felt like being in a real Indian cousine restaurant! Thank you Seva we appreciate having you in Astoria! Love the Mango Lasi drink btw!
Nice restaurant and staff. The food is always hot and delicious. Come hungry portions are generous and we always take home leftovers!
Best Indian in Astoria. I always ordered through uber eats and this time I was passing in front and decided to go have dinner inside. Amazing food as always, service and staff impeccable.
Can't say how much I enjoyed this quiet little place. Service was nice & the food just right. Looking forward to returning soon..Thanks for reminding me that I had dropped my cell...
Food is very affordable and portions are perfect. I really love the quality of the food. Everything is seasoned just right. Not too much salt. The lunch special is great value.
Went for the lunch special which is $15. Food was delicious, service was good, and the vibes of the restaurant was great. I liked how the music wasn’t too loud. Interior is beautiful. Every bite I took of this meal was perfection. I was too scared to try vindaloo this time but will definitely do so next time! Can’t wait to be back!!
Food is fresh, hot and amazing. I ordered from uber eats 4 times. Definitely the best. Edit: i visited the restaurant 2 weeks ago. It was amazing!!!! The staff were very nice, very hardworking. Especially that guy Kazi. He ensured everything was going good. The place is very clean & hygienic. Usually i never tip but tipped this time for the good service i had. Suggestion: go at night its an amazing dine in at night. The tables had candles and flowers. I suggest you invite someone there for dinner. The food is delicious. I ordered mild saag paneer and garlic naan and vegetable samosa also gulab jamun is amazing also the best about it is that the waiters are going around refilling the water cups with cold water for the customers. Very good service. My experience here was top 💯 and the best about it that they have a 3 course meal you get desert, appetizer, main dish. All for $25 so it was cheap for me. The food was very flavorful. They were very kind and welcoming. Best vibes i had! 🇮🇳❤️
One of the best Indian restaurants in Astoria. Staff is on point, seriously, they fill your glass every time you put it down. Tiki masala was spot on so we're the veg & chicken simosas. Wasn't a huge fan of the cheese or dumpling deserts. Mango lassi was nice though. Strongly suggest the pre fixed menu to try a few different things.
My favorite Indian restaurant in Queens so far. The vindaloo is on point and the set menu is very affordable. Good Indian beers
Very generous and tasty food. I got chicken saag (spinach) and chicken korma as well as daal. My favorite was the saag. Cooked so well, in the right amount of spiciness. For dessert I took the Kheeer which is simple but good too. I couldn’t find butter chicken in the menu which was disappointing and personally I prefer black daal (lentils) over yellow.
My go-to place in Astoria for Indian staples. Staff is chill and the food is great. Order directly with them for a discount and to support their business; they deliver pretty fast if that's your thing!
We got the Butternut Squash soup, Chicken Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Laag & Mango Lassi. It was my gf and I’s first time eating Indian cuisine and it did not disappoint. Waiters were very attentive and it was very affordable at $15-20 per person. Will definitely be back for more. We will be back to support this business.
Solid Indian food. They made it good and spicy for my when i requested 'Indian hot'. Mant Indians places don't do this for me because i look like a total honky who probably can't handle much spice. Kudos to the staff for watching me sweat with joy!
Great place. I am a person who doesn’t have Indian food very often but this is still to date my best experience yet. Very delicious and comforting - I felt so happy and just comforted after my meal. ☺️ also, I am vegan and the menu is very vegan friendly, which is always appreciated. I had the vegan cauliflower main dish called Aloo Gobi Matar. Really nice- the roti was fun to eat it with. Also tried to two vegan appetizers - vegetable samosas and pakora. I would recommend the pakora if I had to choose one but worth getting both to try them. Lastly, the staff was very nice and accommodating and made an effort to check up on us a few times to make sure we were enjoying everything. Five star! I can’t say I would change anything - but caveating I do not have a lot of experience with trying different Indian restaurants. Edit: we went to Seva again. I wanted to come on here to double check the rating because they are in fact five star for a few reasons: 1) their food is delicious and homey and feel good food 2) the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, 3) this place doesn’t break the bank at all and is very reasonable which in NYC is saying something and 4) the staff is wonderful. This time I tried to Chana Masala and we ordered it with the roti. It comes with basmati rice but I didn’t eat the rice. The chana masala was amazing. Another meal reco for a vegan or anyone in general who likes chickpea dishes.
Amazing place!!! The food is unbelievable! I can’t recommend this place enough! The waitress were so nice and helpful, always with a smile on their faces! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
my favorite spot for indian food! the staff are so friendly and attentive. i love their chicken biriyani, rogan josh and of course chicken tikka masala! be careful ordering spicy, it will have heat. their mango lassi is perfect for accompanying the heat. I recommend ordering at least an hour in advance for take out.
Fantastic local Indian food. Always my go to when ordering delivery or takeout. The dine in experience is also lovely. Personally always a fan of the lamb korma and the soups. Their mango lassi is also a hit. Very considerate with customers as well, they gave me extra when ordering samosa for catering in the past. Very lovely establishment.
had such a nice time at Seva. The lunch specials are very affordable but also really delicious, which makes it an easy go-to spot. The food is full of flavor, the portions are great, and everything tastes fresh. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming. I'd definitely go back - amazing value and great Indian food!
My husband and I passed by during their $13 lunch special for the restaurants 15th anniversary. I ordered the butternut squash soup and chicken saag with mango lassi. My husband got the chicken samosa and chicken tikka masala. Everything was so delicious and we got full quickly from the food. I had to take the rest to go and have it for lunch at work the next day. The service was good too and everyone was polite. I want to bring my sister here!
Glad to have found this place as we were deciding on where to eat while walking down the strip of many many options to dine. The pleasant interior and big windows immediately drew us in-- and the fact that Indian cuisine never disappoints ;) We selected from the 3-course Prix Fix menu that included an appetizer, main course and dessert of your choice. I ordered the Lamp Spring Roll, Vegetable Tikka Masala with basmati rice, and Kheer to end the delicious meal. I really enjoyed the crispy, lamb roll which tasted very fresh and well seasoned. It's an easy recommend in my books. As for my sister, she ordered the Chicken Samosa, Aloo Gobi Matar with rice, and Gulab Jamun. She recommends getting the samosa and the sweet honey dessert ball. The Aloo was good, but flavor-wise, was quite monotonous compared to the well-liked Masala we know it for. Although we both ordered regular spice and the dishes were not noticeably spicy at first, the spice did slowly creep up on us. Thankfully, our server was attentive and made sure our glasses were full at all times. This is definitely the go-to Indian fare for the locals and visitors!
I've gotten my favorite dish here, chana masala with a side of crispy pakora and garlic naan of course. All yummy yum deliciousness! Perfectly seasoned, fresh, bright with some heat 🌶️ and full of authentic flavor. Great portions and friendly service too. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
This is the second time I come to Seva for dinner and it was as consistently good as the first time. I recommend the Masala, squash soup, garlic naan, and rice pudding For a tasty smoothie try the Mango Lassi, you won’t regret stopping in! Me and the wife were very content both visits. Thanks for a wonderful evening dining experience!
Excellent food and service. Everytime I have a visitor in the city, I bring them here. The pre fix menu is excellent. Even when my friend thought she could handle the vindaloo, they brought her yogurt! I love SEVA!
My husband and I have been coming here for years. The food is always delicious and the staff is consistently friendly and eager to please the diners. We mostly order vegetarian dishes so cannot speak much about the meat dishes.
5 star restaurant hands down! Highly recommend the $15 lunch special every day (not just weekdays). I got the vegan chickpea bowl and my boyfriend got the Chicken Korma, it was so good I highly recommend that one if you are able to eat dairy, highly recommend the butternut squash soup. Servers are very respectful and attentive. Definitely a gem and will return. Vegan and gluten free friendly.
This Indian restaurant has my heart! It’s one of the best I’ve ever had in NY! If you’ve never tried Indian food or have had a bad experience, this will blow your mind! As an appetizer, we got a vegetable samosa with a potato, and green pea turnover filling. This was absolutely delicious and I loved the two sauces that were given on the bottom. They enhanced the flavor of the samosa and made it less dry. We also got garlic naan, plain naan, and cheese stuffed naan. Each came with 4 pieces. My favorite was the garlic because of how flavorful it was and how well it went with the tikka masala. I wasn’t a fan of the cheese that was stuffed into the naan. Overall though I love how fresh it was and how it came out to us hot! For entrees, I got a tikka masala (one of their best sellers, something the workers recommend). This was literally so mouth watering! The chicken was clean with zero fat, and the sauce was tasty! I got it mild, but it was still super spicy 😭 We also got a butter chicken. This tasted exactly like the tikka masala and not really like butter chicken. The last dish we got was a vegetarian meal called Saag Paneer. It had spinach, cheese, ginger and garlic. I didn’t like this meal but the other people at my table did. The consistency wasn’t my favorite. In all, I would definitely go back for their naan, and tikka masala! If you’re looking for some delicious Indian in NY, this is the spot!! 🤍
We walk past Seva often and it’s usually packed. There are also always tons of delivery people waiting for orders. Finally gave it a try and wow, delicious food! We got the 3-course pre-fixe to try a few things and were stuffed. Overall, the food quality was really good. The apps came out instantly but the main dish was a little slower. Dessert was quick. For people who don’t eat Indian often we enjoyed every bite. At $25 for each pre-fixe and no drinks, the bill wasn’t bad too. Get the rosemary naan! We would go back just for that! 😍 His: - veggie samosa (try!) - lamb korma (try!) - gulab jamun (try!) Hers: - butternut squash (try!) - chicken tikka masala (try!) - rasmalai (skip) Because it wasn’t busy when we were there the service was smooth and steady. They kept refilling our waters and we never felt rushed (maybe 4 other tables filled while we were there). Will definitely go back but hopefully not on a busy night.
Seva is always a fantastic dining experience! We love their $25 prix-fixe menu, though the regular menu never disappoints either. The staff is incredibly welcoming, attentive, and patient… always happy to answer any questions. The restaurant is spotless and well-kept, creating a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy the meal. The food tastes fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Definitely one of our go-to spots in Astoria!
I tried their new indo-Chinese menu they launched yesterday. Got the chili paneer with basmati rice, it was delicious, reminded me of back home (India). I tried it at other Indian restaurants but it’s always sweet but this one is not so much, I really enjoyed it. Will definitely be coming back to try the other Indo-Chinese treats they offer!
Food blew my mind ! We. Same in I had 5 friends with me that was being very negative from the start just because Indian food is always the same everywhere . But as soon as the apps came we got excited and the food just kept getting better. I would say the desserts was a let down but everything else was 10/10 Went back again and the food is still incredible!
This was my first time at Seva, but I'm sure that it won't be my last. I'm visiting family in Queens and I was advised to come here. I had Butternut squash soup to start. It was wonderfully creamy and spiced to accentuate the squash. The entree was lamb vindaloo. Flavorful and deliciously spicy. If I just had the sauce, I'd be content, but the perfect tender lamb tells you that Seva isn't just about flavors, but a whole experience. Kheer for dessert rounded out the meal. Too often, it is overwhelmingly sweet. This was mildly sweet and, like everything, spiced perfectly. Seva is astounding!
My husband and I have ordered from here for years but tonight was the first time we came in person and WOW it did not disappoint! Delicious food, fantastic service and lovely atmosphere. 10/10 - will be back!
I’d had Seva delivered before (fire buy one get one deal that fed me for 5 days straight) but this was my first time coming in person and it was amazing!! We came at a slower time of day and the staff went out of their way to send us extra appetizer and dessert. They were also super helpful being able to tell us the ingredients for multiple items since one of my friends has allergies to worry about. For both dine-in and takeout the vegetable samosas are a must, also it was my first time trying saag paneer and I will be coming back for it (on the garlic naan>>>>).
Scrumptious, authentic Indian spot in the heart of Astoria - wide variety of options (the prixe fix was a great value!), generous staff, nice art work. The lighting/ambiance doesn’t match the vibe of the restaurant & food, but otherwise stellar!
Seva is the hidden gem of Astoria for Indian cuisine. I’ve lived 10+ years in the neighborhood and their recipes and service have remained consistent year after year. Can’t beat their prix fixe, and they’re very accommodating of allergies. Don’t skip on the samosas and their lamb vindaloo is not to be missed if you enjoy spice!
What an amazing place! We had the prix-fixe menu it was absolutely delightful! The lamb spring role- superb, lamb saag- delicious and the Kheer was cherry on the cake! We added the coconut nan and the papadam. A good selection of beers and wines. The staff were attentive, professional and polite. Parvej’s hospitality outstanding! Overall a must and an amazing experience.
Food was delicious and very solid. Service was on point, ambiance was fun with lively Indian inspired music. Plus it’s a great deal! I got a $22 3-course meal and it was a lot of food! I’d definitely come back and recommend this place to others.
I went during Happy Hour on a Friday. It wasn't super busy when we sat down, but it quickly filled up in the time I was there and they had tons of pick-ups/delivery drivers, and I can see why! They HH deal is great deal and the food was very good! An appetizer, entree, dessert, drink (current special) for $22!!! The portions were pretty big for a HH deal! I highly recommend the Butternut Squash soup. Our waiter was helpful and the staff was very efficient. It took a little while to get our food, but it was getting busy so I understand why. Overall, a great experience!
Tried Seva recently and really liked it. The Mulligatawny soup was something different — it actually reminded us of pine nut jook from Korean cuisine. Subtle, creamy, and comforting. The Vegetable Samosas were super tasty too, came with a nice sauce (maybe chutney?) and had a little kick of spice. They even threw in a free mango lassi with the combo — super creamy and refreshing. The garlic naan was also really good. I got the Lamb Vindaloo, which was excellent. They warned me it was really spicy — at first I thought it was fine, but it’s that kind of spice that slowly creeps up on you. My fiancée got the Daal Makhani, which was also creamy, flavorful, and full of those nice Indian spices. Overall, awesome meal and really friendly service. Mind you this was all under the lunch combo for $15 pp!!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Seva Restaurant with a group of friends, and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, perfect for a get-together. The food was the highlight of the evening. We tried a variety of dishes, and each one was bursting with fresh, authentic flavors. The appetizers were a great start, and the main courses were cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and the presentation was beautiful. Overall, Seva Restaurant offers a wonderful dining experience with delicious food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere. It's a perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends and family. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back.
Best Indian food in NYC!!! Wow from the. Butternut squash soup, to the coconut naan, to the lamb korma and the coconut dessert. Everything is fresh and delicious. My husband loves the chicken tiki masala and swears no one makes it like them. He loves spicy and I don’t but I do love flavorful food and they nail it every time. The mango lassi is the best I’ve had too. Good people that give great service, amazingly delicious food for a super fair price. I’ve eaten in the city and spent double trying out a new place by work just to end up wishing I had just come here instead! I’ve tried many others and no one compares! Love you guys since the old place years ago.
This evening, I went to the restaurant with two of my friends. Since it was a weekday, it was quite calm. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. We ordered three appetizers: chicken samosa, lamb roll, and chicken tandoori. The lamb roll was a bit spicy, but all of them were very tasty. For the main course, we ordered three biryanis. The biryani wasn’t as good as the appetizers, but I can say we liked it. After the meal, the waiter offered us a milk-based drink on the house. The restaurant was small but very clean. Overall, I can say we left satisfied.
Fantastic casual Indian eatery with flavorful North Indian classics. Seva offers a great lunch special menu with an appetizer and main entree for $15. Really great service that kept our glasses full and made sure we loved everything we ordered! The saag was very rich and flavorful, a hearty stewed dish. My favorite was the fish tikka masala a la carte, which was so tender and flavorful. I love how fresh all their ingredients and their fish was really tender and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend this place for their lunch special!
Very good Indian cuisine. We came for lunch and left feeling satiated but not bloated. I was not a fan of the fish, but definitely will be coming back again to explore other dishes!
We went here on a chilly night and it was so great! Ambiance is spectacular, a modern take on an Indian vibe. Service was a little slower than it could have been but didn’t ruin the night. Food was delicious. Surprisingly our favorite dish was the lentil soup! We got two staples the Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala. They were definitely good. Would go again!
I am not a big fan of Indian food but a friend of mine was craving for Seva and i was happy to have dinner together. The food wasn’t bad, too many spices in my opinion but i could taste the good quality and definitely the good service. The owner was super nice and tried to please me!!!!
We now have a spot on our way home from Manhattan and NOT pay city prices. Pleasantly surprised at the ambience, taste and price of this gem in Astoria. Plenty of eating options in the area but Seva is exceptional. Try their Lamb Biriyani and you won’t be disappointed. Food was gone even before I could take decent pictures as shown.
There is currently outdoor dining available with limited seating and the environment was good. The staff was friendly and attentive. Most of the signature and well-known Indian cuisines were on the menu. We highly recommend to have their 3-course Prix Fixe with appetizer, entree and dessert. We shared 3 sets of Prix Fixe orders with a group of five people and we even couldn’t finish all due to the great portion. The food was overall decent, especially the Fennel Chicken Curry, it was creamy and rich. However, both soup, the butternut squash and mulligatawny, weren’t our types so we only finished the chicken samosa. Seva Indian Cuisine is a solid place for Indian food with reasonable price and great ambiance.
I got the 3 course pre-fixe menu for $25. Mulligatawny soup, chicken curry and kheer dessert (which is basically rice pudding). Soup was fantastic, Chicken was good (it comes with a generous portion of jasmine rice) and dessert was ok. I also wanted to try the garlic Naan bread as an appetizer but I was told by the server that the main course includes naan bread. So I skipped it but at the end of the dinner, I think I was charged for it anyway. Pre-fixe menu is $25 and I didn’t order anything else and somehow I ended up paying almost 40 bucks with an 18% tip. I didn’t really look at the check carefully cause I was in a rush but I asked if the gratuity was included and server said no, so I don’t know what happened. Just make sure to ask if naan bread it’s actually included or not or pay extra attention to the check once received.
Small spot but their 3 course prix fixe is a great deal. Was not the biggest fan of their samosas but the tamarind sauce makes it taste better. Their butter chicken was good. I want to say they used breast instead of thighs tho which is a sin in butter chicken but their sauce was good. It leaned a bit to the sweet side. Their dessert was great! I would come back as that 3 course prix is a good deal for the amount of food you get. Also the food is halal as per the staff members.
Came here for the good reviews. Was kinda disappointed. First, service is excellent. Warm, friendly, and fast workers. The ambience is decent, too. Right as the sun was setting small candles were placed on the tables by the teeny flower vases. Very cute. But the food wasn’t a highlight. I told my husband we should’ve stayed in Jackson Heights for Indian if this is what Astoria has on offer. It’s not that it was terrible, it was just… blah. Ordered pakoras and samosas for appetizer. You know what a good pakora is — it’s light and crispy and gives you the warm and fuzzies. These aren’t it. They didn’t taste stale but they didn’t taste like they’d been made that day. Samosas… lol. My husband ordered the chicken samosa. I have no idea what we were expecting but this thing was massive (A+) with a super crumbly filling inside. My vegan curry was a regular, plain Jane curry. The frozen curries I’ve bought in the past have more flavor. There was absolutely no depth of flavor. I liked that the veggies still had a snap to them but the flavor just wasn’t there. Disappointment. Husband had the vindaloo. Said it was “fine.” Naan bread was a big let down. It was dry. I love when naan is a little greasy and chewy— this isn’t it. Overall, it was a meh dinner. 😭
food was really good, but i found a hair in my chicken tikka so i couldnt really finish it. food was very good but precautions should be met so this doesnt happen. i placed for takeout. however, i would order again considering the food was good and this was just a “one off” time (i hope)
Used to be my favourite indian restaurant and i rated it 5 stars before. But the lady that takes calls has terrible service and confuses customers with wrong order delivery updates. I gave a tip to get my order quicker not to end up waiting more.
Got delivery from here a few weeks ago when my wife (who hates Indian food) was out of town. I’d eaten here years ago (maybe 2016?) with a friend who worked in the area and then recently ordered as we moved down the road from it. I remembered it as totally average. This time got the green chili chicken and the aloo gobi with a request to make it hot. The aloo gobi was very good ; the chicken was awful—it was basically a sloppy soupy mess with not much chicken and no other vegetables except a few Thai green chilis that were tossed in raw. So one of the two dishes was good. To me this means to always stick with the basic North Indian dishes that every Indian restaurant in the US serves when eating here and don’t expect anything groundbreaking and it will be a good experience
This used to be my favorite Indian restaurant in Queens. Had delivery. The Chicken Tikka was bland. The lamb biryani was one of the worst I've ever had. This is not biryani, was just some rice with gamey tasting meat and barely any spice or garnishments.
This review is about a dinner we did not have. Not that we didn’t want to. We were conflicted if it’s appropriate to even pitch in about a non-happening. But then, future patrons can benefit from any part of experience of past patrons who dined or intended to. So, here it is. Sewa is geared for takeout and delivery options. For a place that claims to be among New York’s best, there are no widgets to book a table. Interestingly, the facade looks nothing like the destination page of their website. We called to ask about walk-in prospects; the call wasn’t picked and answering service was in overflow mode!! Decided to drive up, nonetheless. Out front, the place was well lit, family restaurant style, but seating seemed all hedged-in. Tried looking for parking options but found none. Had to drive off. We’re sure a spot that claims high recognition must be having captive parking arrangement but discontinuity in communication caused disappointment. If they have no reserved or valet parking, Seva may not grow out of neighbourhood destination or for those open to cab-in for an in-restaurant experience. Of course, we’ll try to make another stopover and then revise our rating.
Ordered at 6:00PM, as of 10:30 PM the food has still not arrived. Last time I ordered from Seva it took more than 2 hours to arrive which I figured was a fluke. Incredibly disappointing. Received a message that my order is now canceled. So glad I waited 4.5 hours, and paid for food that is not coming.
Ordered delivery. Order was confirmed but it’s nearly two hours and the restaurant is unresponsive/unclear if any food is actually coming. Edit: to their credit, the food did eventually did come, but about 2.5-3 hours after the initial estimate, so I'm increasing the score slightly. I'm increasing it by less than I would otherwise though, since there seem to have been dozens of inorganic, vague 5 star reviews posted the morning after, presumably to bury the negative reviews
The food is not aunthentic but so-so. I think the portions are also very small. Tried the calcutta inspired cauliflower manchurian. We were super dissappointed. The service was great and the cocktails were superb.
One of the absolutely worst foods that I have ever eaten in my life. We ordered the Vegetable Biryani, and not only was the rice stale, but the vegetables were also uncooked. Pathetic, this food would not pass any basic food standards. How 4.6 stars is given to this restaurant is beyond me!!!
Absolutely terrible experience. Never order the food online through Uber Eats. I waited for 2 hours and the order not only never came, but both Uber and Seva were directing me to the other to get a delivery driver for the order (which is literally the one job of a food delivery service).
First off, the food at Seva is always excellent. Best Indian in Astoria IMO. Go to the restaurant, enjoy a GREAT meal. You can't go wrong. However, if you find yourself on their website and are presented with the link to "Order direct - save 15%," I'd counsel caution. In fact, if somebody were to put a gun to your head and force you to choose between using that link and a frontal lobotomy, I'd recommend thinking long and hard about the lobotomy. It might actually wind up less painful. Their delivery partner, Sauce, seems to have a different definition of "delivery" from anything I can find in any English dictionary. I wrote a very long and humorous review, but sadly Google lets you keep writing long after you're over the word limit... so I'll just say that after 3 hours, my sub room temperature food finally arrived.
