Most places are either reasonably priced or tasty, but not both. Yaar is the exception. Their lunch buffet is delicious and less than $20. It's difficult, if not impossible, to find this kind of value anymore. Can't recommend them enough.

After a pause of over three years (since the COVID-19 pandemic hit), the weekend (Sat/Sun 12pm - 3pm) buffet is back. The food is still delicious, and there was a variety of items -- salad, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, curry chicken, saag paneer, chana, okra, veggie samosa, naan, and kheer. Also, great service!

Very tasty Indian food. Clean and cozy environment!! Nice service too! Seriously I enjoyed food and atmosphere in here. BEST Garlic Naan in my life. I will definitely come here again. I had a dinner course with a decent price. I wish I found this place earlier!!!! Strongly recommend this Indian restaurant!!

Ordered the korma chicken and really enjoyed it! I thought the flavor was really good and chicken was juicy. My partner got the butter chicken and it was a little bit tomato based, I tend to like mine a little more creamy/curry based. We also got the garlic and plain naan both were great (usually plain naan taste a little dry to me but this one was good). I also ordered the chicken samosa and although it was very greasy it was probs the best one I had in Astoria. Overall I did enjoy this place and would go back if I was in the ditmars area.

Yaar Indian Restaurant delivered a good overall experience. The food was flavorful and the service was friendly and on point. I enjoyed the butter chicken and naan—both were satisfying and well-portioned. That said, something was missing. The dishes lacked that extra touch of freshness or a standout flavor that makes a meal unforgettable. While everything was solid, it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Still, Yaar is a reliable spot if you’re looking for decent Indian food in the area.

Came in around 12:30 on a Sunday. Got seated right away and wasn't really packed. They have a variety of buffet dishes both veg and non veg. Everything was cooked and was hot .When they brought out the naan, it was cooked fresh to order. Service was excellent. A lot of the dishes were less seasoned and spicy as is in a normal Indian cuisine, but they do that to cater to the population in that area that can't handle spices. No disrespect but y'all can't handle spices. Samosas were fire and they had the chutneys to go with them too. Overall with tax and tip it was around $20 per person. Metered parking outside is decent and there's plenty around the area as well. After covid, this spot is good for what they have. Definitely don't miss out on the kheer desert at the end.

Walked in with no reservation and was seated immediately. The bartender was also our waiter, thankfully it wasn’t crowded. If you like Indian food this is a great place to try.

Spicy! Tasty! Lots! We came here for lunch and were not disappointed in price or cleanliness. Staff was friendly . Food was presented attractively. Our only issue was that the food was a little spicier than expected....almost too much in that it almost took away from the good flavor s presented.

A decent local Indian spot right on Ditmars Blvd, however, having been to many great Indian restaurants outside of NY this place fell short. The interior, although spotless, felt sterile and unwelcoming, definitely didn't have the cozy atmosphere that I typically get in Indian restaurants. Food was okay; we ordered the 3-course dinner which came with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $18 per person. The samosa I ordered was spot-on, fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. Curries were a hit as well, yet despite that, they didn't mask how overcooked, dry, and tough the chicken was and the rice similarly bland and dry. Thankfully we ended our meal with a fragrant bowl of kheer. The meal felt like a roller coaster, a mix of good and not-so-good qualities.

Ordered a chicken tika masala from here through Uber Eats. First time ordering from this place. Food tasted fine but had an allergic reaction to the food so evidently there was some cross contamination. I’m allergic to tree nuts and fish, neither of which should have been in my food

I usually don't post if I order from door dash but yesterday I order butter chicken and today while I was eating the leftovers I found a freaking staplers pin in the food 😲 this could have been gone so wrong omg please please be careful when you cooking it might be from spice bag or something but this is scary

I ordered butter chicken and garlic naan from this restaurant and honestly speaking it was one of the worst butter chicken I’ve ever had, I could not taste or smell any butter and cream from the chicken, it did not had any taste with it except the salt also the naan, tell me why there’s such big chopped pieces of garlic just under the folded naan? It smelled crazy, I mean I never write reviews like this but this was really disappointing when you expect so much after reading the reviews.
