First time here. Immaculate destination of salivating dishes and elite hospitality. Came with a large party yet the establishment was accommodating. Probably could've ordered more efficiently (us) but they were understanding. Beautiful food. Great prices. Left with the utmost satisfaction. 20/10 would return and recommend to all friends. Spacious interior, two floors of dining, and the ordering station with the fish has no stench (plus is on the other end of the restaurant). Well done on the floor planning with that. Cheers.

We went at a perfect time on Sunday at around 12 noon. We got a table right away but there was a wait and a long line out the door around 1:30pm, when we left. We got our table number and went right to the counter to order. Right away, we could see the seafood is fresh with no fishy smell. Everything you can imagine as far as seafood was available. Of course, make note that this restaurant has no chicken or meats, so if any one in your group is not a seafood lover, beware. We tried a bit of several things: deep fried red snapper, fried calamari, scallops, jumbo shrimp, grilled octopus, baba ghanoush, beet salad, hamido salad with feta cheese and seasoned fries. Red snapper and grilled octopus was our favorite. Beet salad was simple yet so good. The only issue we had was that the jumbo shrimp was not properly cooked in the center. We told our waiter and he was willing to cancel that off our bill. My only other wish was that they had a spicy sauce or option (Siraccha is available). Spice was the only thing missing for us. Quality, fresh and delicious tasting food. Very good service and it's a BYOB restaurant. The price is reasonable. Municipal parking nearby.

Incredible!!!!! Super fresh seafood! LOVE it!!! We had the red snapper (in the oven), and stripped bass (singari), shrimps (Alexandria style cooking - it was out of this world), and fried calamari! The mint lemonade was sooooo good - we ordered it without sugar (superb), along with Tahini, rice and Hamido Salad. Super recommended! A must to come again ✨ Music was loud - wish they put it down a bit to enjoy your food and a good chat - that was the only thing I’d improve here! 😊

This spot serves some of the freshest seafood I’ve had in NYC. Every dish I had is cooked to perfection and full of flavor. If you’re willing to wait about an hour or so, it’s a cool experience. A must try for seafood lovers looking for quality and taste in the city.

I’ve been here several times the past year, and most recently came with a large group. After our first experience, my friends and I started making it a point to come back. Jennifer was our server on 2/21, and she provided the best service I’ve had here (and they’re ALWAYS fantastic) and made us feel welcomed. The fresh food, the amazing lemonade and the great energy from the staff deserves recognition! I had to take this moment to make it clear that this is my favorite seafood restaurant out right now. Thank you guys for always taking care of me and my crew.

Worth whatever line you run into when you get there. Process can confuse first timers. Check in at the front desk to get your table number and then wait in line to choose your Seafood and how you want it cooked. Then you wait for a table.

This place is always busy for a reason. I usually come for their lunch special which can’t be beat. The scallops are cooked to perfection. I’m not a big fish eater but my husband got the grilled snapper and it was seasoned so well! We went back for the snapper fried while it was good the snapper grilled was way better to us. Their mint lemonade I could drink a whole pitcher to myself. Love love this place will def be back soon

Play hooky if you need to make it in for the incredible lunch special. Staff wear shirts that say "we sea food differently" and I do too after a midday meal celebrating a dear one's birthday. You cannot go wrong with the pre-set lunch special menu (various options) but if nothing there catches your eye you can head over to the fresh caught section and pick your own.

Hamido Seafood in Astoria is one of my go-to spots, and I personally love going there with my husband. The seafood is always fresh, and the Egyptian-style grilled scallops are my absolute favorite—perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The place has a casual, welcoming vibe, making it great for both a cozy dinner for two and a fun night out with friends. The portions are generous, and for the quality, the prices are really reasonable. If you’re into bold Mediterranean flavors and fresh seafood, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s a spot we keep coming back to, and for good reason!

WOW!! What a great experience! Visited on Good Friday so the placed was packed but the line was well worth the wait. EXCELLENT, fresh seafood selection and the staff at the counter was super helpful in helping to decide what to get. Overall, the service was great. Would highly recommend visiting for any seafood lover! BYOB friendly too 😉.

We came here for my dad's birthday to try some authentic Egyptian seafood. He has literally been hyping it up all week, so much so that he picked out all our mains and sides leading up to it beforehand. So we were VERY excited. The restaurant and ordering experience is definitely unique. They line you up for the fish bar and you can see all the delicious, fresh cuts of seafood - and you get to pick and choose exactly what you want to be on your plate. They have a variety of seasoning and grilling options, and you can order as much seafood as your heart desires. The food is made fresh, but despite that it actually came out quite fast. We got the mezza platter and hamido salad as appetizers and they were all incredibly delicious. Our fish, calamari, and octopus came out after - beautifully grilled and oh my god that branzino might literally have changed my brain chemistry. It's that good. Grilled to perfection and still so juicy and tender on. the inside. I have not eaten that much food in one sitting in a while, to the point where I might've combusted if you accidentally lit a candle near me. It is not an exaggeration to say that this is probably the best seafood that I have ever had. This place is seriously the mainstay of Queens cuisine. A cultural phenom in the heart of Astoria. Please, please, please make the trip out here and order everything on the menu.

Food takes a little bit of time to come out but that is because it’s freshly made to your preferences! It is super seasoned as you can tell from the pictures. The line is always super long but that’s expected for a made to order type of establishment and it’s also a good indicator of a restaurant that has built a strong reputation.

I had an amazing experience Ibn Hamido restaurant! Everything was incredibly fresh, and you could really taste the quality in every dish. The owner was such a welcoming and attentive host, checking in on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was perfect. It's clear they really care about their customers and the food they serve. I will definitely be coming back this won't be my last visit! Highly recommend it to anyone who loves great seafood and top-notch service.

We went to celebrate my birthday, and while the place looks great, the experience was even better. Being able to choose your own seafood is such a great touch—we selected a whole lobster, prawns, scallops, and octopus. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. They also offer small bites; we chose a variety of appetizers along with their in-season fries, which were delicious. The service was up to par, and we will definitely be coming back again.

Wow, what an amazing experience I had at Hamido Seafood. Found it through instagram which is always a risk if you’re expecting no line and to be sat right away. We went in on a Monday at 6:30pm and were behind 2 people in the fish line. It took about 10 minutes for us to be up and pick out our fish, 1/2lb calamari (fried), small red snapper (baked), 1/2lb scallops (baked), 1/2 lb shrimp (baked), and the smallest lobster they had (about 2lbs or so!) baked as well. It says online that it’s BYOB but it’s definitely not because we saw a sign that said no alcohol…we snuck a couple seltzers in and tipped 25% since no one said anything to us. We got seated upstairs and got a Greek salad. Wow. When I say I’ve never had feta like that before, it was fresh and authentic, absolutely delicious. Calamari was nicely fried, not too much batter and not oily at all, you could tell the fryer oil was changed. The rest of the fish were phenomenal as well, the lobster was great and not overcooked which I was very happy about. It ended up being $180 total without the tip which was not bad at all especially because we got the flounder deboned (extra charge) and a huge lobster! Overall amazing experience and all the servers and food runners upstairs were so nice and provided great service. Will definitely be going back!

This place is an incredible culinary experience that you absolutely have to try at least once! From the moment you select your meal to the moment it arrives at your table, every step is a delight. Even when it’s bustling, the atmosphere is warm and inviting—it's as if everyone is part of a big family, making the lively environment feel comforting rather than chaotic. For starters, we indulged in the Mezza, Moussaka, and fried calamari, and let me tell you, they were the perfect kickoff! The flavors are truly mind-blowing; the Moussaka is rich, delicious, and just the right amount of spice to enhance every bite. As for the Hamido Specials, we savored the grilled shrimp and Branzino, and it was simply outstanding! While I’m usually not a seafood lover, this Branzino was so delicious that I couldn’t resist eating every bit—even the head! The grilled shrimp were phenomenal too. We paired everything with brown rice and a fresh Greek salad, making for a wonderful meal. I’ve visited this gem multiple times, and I’ve always left happy. It’s absolutely worth every penny. A special shoutout to the staff, who are so friendly and kind! I truly appreciate the positive attitude they bring, even after a long day. It’s these little things that make a good experience great. Thank you.

Love it here, delicious seafood with flavor & variety of items to choose from. Fresh from the ice, pick your seafood of choice & then tasty sides. Nice, nutritious & delicious meal. No alcoholic drinks are served, which just let you savor all the flavors exploding on your tastebuds!!

In one word, amazing. You feel like your granny cooked you a meal. A big variation of seafood. All fresh. You will choose your choice of fish and the way you want it to be cooked. The guy at the counter is proposing cooking style if you have doubt. You gonna order sides when you seated. All cooked stuff was to the point. Don’t go there if you’re starving, probably you should stay in a line with minimum half an hour waiting time, but believe me it worth.

Staff were very nice and food was delicious. This place does seem to have a high volume of people so expect longer than average wait time but other than that I think it’s worth it would come back again

First off i will say Hamido is a very clean establishment with great staff and take pride in there service. Now to the food, the food here is absolutely fantastic, full of flavor, perfect amout of seasoning and cooked to perfection. Scallops tasted amazing and the salmon was very tinder and juicy. To top all of this off we had their famous Mint Lemonade and it was flawless. IBN Hamido Seafood gets a 10/10 for me 💯

First time at hamido and we’re absolutely blown away by the food and hospitality. We didn’t know how to order and Mohammed helped us pick the perfect fish for us. It was light and flaky just like we wanted and the seasoning/flavors were spot on! Lunch is the best time to go, I think because by the time we were getting out, the line was long but it’s worth the wait. Will go back again to try new things.

One of the best Egyptian seafood spots I’ve tried in NYC!😋😋 TBH, I’ve been here multiple times and every visit has been solid. The service is always on point and super friendly. The girl who served us was always smiling and checked on us multiple times to see if we were enjoying everything and if we needed anything. As soon as u walk in, you’ll see the fresh fish displayed on ice, and you can pick whatever you like, including the type and weight. Pretty cool! Mohammed was wonderful, very smiling, and helped us choose and recommended the best. 🙏🏻 I’ve tried a bunch of different things here, and everything has been amazing. The lobster was literally to die for, and the tiger shrimp, regular shrimp, jumbo shrimp – all were fire! I also had the small red fish and a huge fish that was baked in the oven. Oh, and don’t get me started on the scallops. They were incredible. The shrimp was cooked in several ways – grilled, fried, and baked, so you really get the full experience. The rice was super good too, and the baba ghanoush salad was a great side. If you’re into bread, they’ve got fresh, delicious bread that I think they bake in-house – it’s a must-try. Overall, every time I’ve been, it’s been a great experience, and the quality of the seafood is always top-tier. Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re a seafood lover in NYC!

One of the most unique experiences I’ve been to. Suggest suggested by the Uber driver if we wanted real seafood . Upon looking it up, it is an Egyptian seafood restaurant in Astoria, Section of New York City. It was a Sunday night approximately 7:30 PM and it was crowded You wait in the line to look at the seafood that they have and they order it and how you want it done. We ordered red snapper fillet to open with a very good sauce on it, and I think it was broiled. We also ordered grilled shrimp, deep-fried, calamari, and a great muscles in almost like a spicy wing sauce. That’s the best I could describe it. Upon ordering, You give them your number and you’ll wait for a table. Approximately 10 minutes later, they call your number and direct you to a table. At this point, you could order sides in which we did a cucumber salad with onions and little cherry tomatoes in balsamic vinaigrette. Also order the Egyptian dip that you dipped in The seafood was phenomenal. I’ve never had Egyptian food and for me it was out of the ordinary and out of the world. Highly suggested. It’s about a half hour ride from Central Park in a good neighborhood. Family friendly. If you have the opportunity in your in New York City, - try IBN seafood

Don’t come here unless you’re ready to gorge like a hyena. You’ll eat way past the point of being full because the food is literally addictive. It’s hands down the best seafood in NY, if not the entire country. The flavor is mind-blowing—it'll make you wonder what you've been eating your whole life. If you think Omakase is the gold standard, get off your high horse in Manhattan and get to Queens. Give this place its Michelin stars already.

Even slightly before Hamido's official opening, a noticeable crowd had already gathered outside, hinting at its popularity. Once the doors opened, the unique experience began with a guided selection of fresh seafood. We were led through the day's offerings, choosing our preferred catches (flounder, scallop, squid, mussel, prawn) and specifying our cooking methods (grilled/fried). After placing our order, we were directed upstairs to await our meal. To complement our seafood, we opted for the variety platter of side dishes and rice. These sides proved to be a delightful accompaniment, but the true stars of the show were undoubtedly the seafood. I often find myself hesitant when ordering seafood, fearing it will be overcooked. However, Hamido demonstrated a masterful touch. Each item was cooked flawlessly, retaining its natural tenderness and flavor. The grilled squid stood out as a particular favorite, boasting a wonderful smoky char. The scallops were equally impressive, offering a sweet and succulent taste. Ultimately, my experience at Hamido was thoroughly enjoyable. The restaurant offered a winning combination of inviting ambiance, exceptional food, and attentive service.

From the moment I walked into Hamido Seafood, I was excited . The owner Samia was so attentive and friendly. The service made me feel like family. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, offering thoughtful recommendations and making the evening truly enjoyable. It’s rare to find a place where hospitality feels this genuine. Mohamed’s was nothing short of extraordinary. His suggestions and patience are phenomenal. Every dish was crafted with care, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. You can taste the passion they pour into each creation. It wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience that stayed with me long after the last bite. And I can’t say enough about Migel. He welcomed me with such warmth and kindness that I instantly knew I was in for something special. Samia, Mohamed, and Migel have created something at Hamido Seafood. It’s not just a restaurant it’s a place where you feel seen, valued, and completely at ease. I left with a full heart and can’t wait to come back.

IBN Hamido Seafood is a hidden gem in Astoria if you’re into fresh, flavorful seafood 🐟🦐. The grilled fish was perfectly seasoned, the shrimp were juicy, and the rice and sides tied it all together like a proper feast. Everything tasted fresh off the boat, and the flavors had that real Mediterranean touch. You can taste the love in every bite. The staff were welcoming and quick with service, even when it was busy. They made sure we were taken care of without hovering—super respectful and chill vibes throughout the place 👌. Whether you’re craving a full seafood platter or just want something light and fresh, this spot hits. 100% coming back for more!

We visited Hamido Seafood after a hike, and though we waited in line for about 40 minutes, it was absolutely worth it! The service was great, especially considering how busy they were. The process is unique—you wait, select your fresh seafood, place your order, and then wait for a table. Despite the rush, the staff were friendly and accommodating. We started with seasoned fries, lemon potato, and Greek salad, which were all delicious. Our mains included lobster tail and scallops, which were incredible. The deep-fried sardines were average for me, as I prefer smaller ones, but the seafood pizza was a surprisingly great choice! The highlight was the Brazino fish—super fresh and cooked to perfection. We also had a side of rice that paired nicely with the seafood, and the grilled octopus to finish, which was very good. The mint lemonade was the perfect drink to accompany all the seafood, especially after our hike—it was refreshing and complemented the flavors beautifully. If you’re in NYC and love fresh seafood, Hamido is a must-visit!

Let me say, this place is Awesome! First time here & was very impressed. First u walk over to the seafood counter, tell them what u want & how u want it cooked, I believe u have to order 1/2 pound or more. Then u go and sit & they will bring the cooked food to u. Everything is cooked to perfection seasoned well, & extremely fresh. I will be a regular customer. Oh the mint lemonade is delicious! Go & enjoy, u will not be disappointed

Wow! This place was amazing. The seafood arrives very fresh and the spices they cook with are so unique and delicious. We had many side dishes such as the hummus, eggplant, salad, and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly. For our mains we had the salmon, scallops, and shrimp. I still think about this meal a month later. The staff was very welcoming and explain the ordering process when you arrive. The place and the bathrooms were sparking clean.

The prices are higher than what you see on the website, so I’m guessing that menu is for takeout. It’s a seafood market concept restaurant where you line up to pick your fish and how much you want and how you want it cooked. They then bring it to your table when it’s done. When you get seated, you can order the sides separately. The seafood was tasty in an expected why, but honestly the unforgettable part was the pita bread.. the pita bread was rly good..

Great Restaurant with BYOB option. Friendly staff, and the crowd is super diverse. They have 2 different dining options, lunch special which includes 2 sides, and the 2nd is ordering fresh at the bar. I thought this concept was pretty cool. We were there for a quick bite, and did the lunch special - branzini with house salad and lemon potatoes, & my husband had the fried calamari and shrimp with rice and seasoned fries. Everything was excellent. Seasoned to perfection, great portions, and left us satisfied. We also ordered a mint lemonade, refreshing and delicious. We definitely plan on going back and trying the bar to get a full experience. I highly recommend this place - might be our new go to spot. Also fyi they have another location directly across the street for take out only.

Wow what a dining experience!!! The seafood here is so fresh. We tried lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, scallops, and snapper. The lobster tails were so thick and juicy and the shrimp was beyond flavorful! The scallops were yummy as well. Service was top tier - felt very taken care of was constantly checked on. This is a great fun and casual date spot that will still impress! cannot wait to book my ticket back to NYC to eat here again!

One of my all-time favorite restaurants! Hamido has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat anywhere in the world. Everything about it feels just right. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely funny, which adds so much to the experience. The guy who helps you choose your seafood is especially great, he has a keen eye and is always happy to recommend something good. Now, the food... it’s heavenly. I used to think I didn’t like seafood until I started coming here. Their made-to-order fried calamari is my favorite. The baked red snapper is another standout, and their pasta? Absolutely out of this world. I’ve been here many times for both dine-in and takeout. Both are solid options, but I highly recommend dining in for the full experience. For sides, I usually keep it simple with the cucumber salad, which is light and refreshing. They also serve fresh bread on the house and it’s delicious! I can’t say enough good things about Hamido. If you haven’t been yet, go. You’ll be hooked.

Incredible seafood, super fresh, and full of flavour! We just finished our meal at Hamido Seafood and had an amazing experience. You walk in and choose your fish from the counter—everything looked fresh and well cared for. We went with grilled red snapper and fried shrimp, and every bite was spot-on. The fish was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—and the seasoning brought everything to life without overpowering the seafood. The sides were also a hit—especially the moussaka, hamido house salad, and rice. Big portions, and the food came out quickly despite it being a bit busy. The staff were friendly and helpful, explaining how everything works since it was our first time. The place has a casual, vibrant vibe—nothing fancy, just great food. Highly recommend it if you're a seafood lover or want something different from your typical dining spots. We'll definitely be back!

Best seafood in town. Pick your fresh seafood, shrimp, scallops, lobster, tiger shrimp, mussels, calamari, ALL kinds of fish. Then you choose how you want it cooked. After getting seated you order your sides, we had the fries (really well seasoned) lemon potatoes, rice and salad, all of them were great. The mint lemonade was also really good. Ample amount of seating in the new location, but still a wait to be seated on the weekends. Regular seafood prices, we ordered a lot of food and it was $400 for 5 people. Definitely worth it.

Amazing, fresh food! We were worried things would be under seasoned but were pleasantly surprised at how great everything was. The scallops in particular were amazing - but honestly everything was great. The only cons are that it can be a long wait (we arrived at a busy time and waited about an hour and ten minutes to order and be seated). Also, the service could be improved a little bit.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ibn Hamido Seafood in Astoria is straight-up the BEST seafood I’ve ever had in my life – and I don’t say that lightly. Everything we ordered was insanely fresh and perfectly cooked: the grilled bronzino was juicy and charred just right, the fried calamari and shrimp were crispy yet tender. The Egyptian-style spices and that garlic-lemon sauce. Absolute perfection. Portions are huge, flavors are bold, and you can taste that the fish came in that morning. Service is super warm and fast, the vibe inside is lively but not overwhelming, and the prices are shockingly reasonable for this level of quality. Came with a big group and everyone left saying the same thing: we’re coming back next week. If you love seafood, do yourself a favor and go to Ibn Hamido. Hands down my new favorite spot in NYC. 🦐🐟🔥

Today was the first visit of what I’m hoping to be many more to this restaurant. A lunch special option is available where you can choose one entree with two sides for approximately $20. When you are given the menu (at lunchtime) there are 9 options the last three do not come with sides. Ordered the branzino with babaganoush and house salad, also ordered the scallop and shrimp with pasta with a separate order of grilled shrimp and calamari. EVERYTHING was absolutely amazing !! All food (entrees/seafood) is cooked upon ordering. Fresh seafood is in the rear for you to choose from also. The service staff was friendly as well. You will be quite satisfied with this establishment and its offerings of freshly grilled/fried seafood and the treatment you shall receive. Look forward to coming back and trying the tajine that was recommended by Ahmad!! Go enjoy!!!

Loved it! The staff are all super friendly and the restaurant is very organized. The food is delicious! We tried several dishes but our favs were the Scallops (the Egyptian spices complement the scallops so well), the Octopus (best I’ve ever had), & the Greek Salad. I could eat the Greek salad every day. It was super fresh & the whipped feta & dressing were 🤌🏾. Oh, get the mint lemonade too. So refreshing!

What can I say about this place? The line says it all. We’re visiting New Jersey from New York and had to stop by Hamido’s. They serve authentic Egyptian-style seafood, and it absolutely delivers. We ordered a variety of dishes fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, grilled branzino, clams, and plenty of sides and everything was cooked to perfection. Fresh, flavorful, and done right. There’s a reason this place is such a rave in Astoria. We will definitely, definitely, definitely be back.

Astoria has several iconic fresh seafood spots where you walk to the counter and pick your seafood and cooking style. This is one of them and did not disappoint!!! There is a lunch special that runs from Monday to Thursday, and this place is packed with friend groups and families, even at traditionally odd mealtimes (i.e. 3 PM). Expect to wait a little for food since cooking a whole fish takes a while.

A must enjoy fresh, delicious and reasonably priced seafood selections with healthy choices such as grilled or baked! You decide how much you would like to eat when you order your favorite seafood and how it will be cooked. Later at lunch, the line is long to select and order. My friend and I shared grilled sardines and grilled calamity. The pound of sardines (sardines can be ordered at a minimum of one pound) were served on banana leaf. We chose our sides at our table. Their Egyptian bread was freshly made and warm. Service is fast and attentive. The place is spacious with outside seating.

Delicious fresh seafood! He ordered the striped sea bass and jumbo shrimp, accompanied by Greek salad, rice and fresh bread. We washed our tasty meal with fresh mint lemonade. Everything was great! Know that this an extremely popular spot so be ready to wait! We went on a Saturday night and waited 45 mins to order our food and be seated. Also, all seafood is market priced. All things considered, the long lines and wait are well worth it and I will definitely be back!

I recommend going for lunch. I went for lunch and dinner at separate times and found that lunch time had little to no wait. For dinner, expect to wait at least 30 mins or more. It's also BYOB! Love this place.

A very wonderful experience. The gentleman at the place gives great suggestions and the food was cooked to perfection. The grilled shrimp and calamari and the pasta stood out for me but everything was great. I was here with about 10 people so we were able to create a family style vibe and really enjoyed a variety of dishes. The line at the wrong time can be very very long but it's worth it

Ibn Hamido has become a special place for us. We celebrated our monthly anniversary there, and it was fantastic! The seafood is incredibly fresh we had lobster, grilled shrimp, salmon, octopus, and calamari all perfectly grilled. The side dishes like tahini, baba ghanoush, and spiced potatoes were delicious. And I have to mention the mint lemonade so refreshing! Every visit is a treat, and the quality is always topnotch. Highly recommend for any special occasion!

This place is worth the hype! It’s always busy for a reason, The food is amazing! I got to try so many things but my favorite has to be the shrimp! Also I am not a fan of fish and I would never eat fish because I do not like the strong “fishy” taste but the best part is I decided to try fish from here and it didn’t have that strong “fishy” taste, instead it tasted like tender chicken! It was sooo good! This place can make anyone a seafood lover! The staff was also very kind and would check up on you every few minutes to make sure that all is well. Also they gave us complimentary fresh mint lemonade which I didn’t think I’d like because I’m Not a big fan of mint but I absolutely loved it! I recommended IBN Hamido to any one, whether or not you like seafood this place will make you a big seafood fan! Trust me! 🐟

The atmosphere was pretty chill. The service was good. Clean environment. I ordered so much food that the table wasn't big enough. The food was great, and as far as preparations, you can talk to the chef about how you would like that done. This place does not serve drinks, but you can bring your own.

BN Hamido Seafood is an outstanding spot for anyone craving fresh, flavorful Egyptian-style seafood. The restaurant is clean, well-organized, and offers a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes the entire dining experience enjoyable. The food is absolutely 5/5 — everything I tried was delicious and perfectly prepared. Their Red Snapper and Salmon were grilled to perfection, full of authentic flavor. The Tahini, Baba Ghanoush, Garlic Eggplant, and Hamido House Salad were all fresh and tasty, and the fries and rice were great additions to the meal. Service is also 5/5. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes sure you get your food exactly how you like it. Another big plus — the food is Halal, making it a great choice for many diners. Highly recommend this place if you want quality seafood cooked with care and amazing taste!

We are so satisfied with the seafood, definitely fresh and served hot. You pick your entree as many as you want remember is by weight, nice and fresh. Unbelievable taste. It feels like you in the Florida Keys... Definitely will come back with friends and family. The price is very reasonable for the quality of food you are getting. You must try the scallops and the octopus 🐙🦑. Guaranteed you will come back. The staff was great.

If you’re a seafood lover, this place is a must-visit. The food was absolutely incredible—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the meal made it completely worth the splurge. The only downside was the wait. We had to wait quite a while just to get a table, and then another long stretch before our orders were taken. If you aren't in a rush, it’s a fantastic spot, but be prepared for a slow start to your evening!

I’ve been wanting to go to IBN Hamido Seafood forever so I’ve finally got to enjoy their food with my family. We had one of the most mind blowing experiences at this restaurant. When we went to the restaurant, the first step was the seafood bar where we got to select the seafood we wanted and how we would like it to be cooked. After we placed our order we were seated. The restaurant is big so I think anyone who goes won’t have any issue with getting seated but we also went on weekdays which was less crowded than weekend I believe. After we sat down we ordered some side dishes. After our side dish order, the servers gave us pita bread which was on the house and they served us mint and lemon water.I think we waited maybe 20-30 minutes until our seafoods were served, frankly I wouldn't mind waiting longer for their food but the time we waited wasn’t that long especially since they were cooking/baking everything fresh. I don’t know the last time I went to a restaurant where I loved every single dish. We had an amazing experience and we devoured all the food in no time. Their servers are also very attentive and super friendly. They had many servers working and they came to check on us often. The price for everything was also very reasonable, their side dishes were very good price as well, everything total was way less than what I was expecting. I do think going with a group would be much more affordable. I’m already salivating to eat their food again.

Finally got a chance to try this place and it didn't disappoint. We got grilled octopus, scallops, and jumbo shrimp, as well as fries and the mixed cold appetizer for about $145. Grilled items were cooked well, especially the octopus. It would have been nice to have a cup of butter for dipping, though. Staff was really nice and patient with the crowds. There was a bit of a wait for food to come out but not too bad; we were in and out in a little over an hour.

P
Price FroFro

Food is out for you to pick and thats nice to see the but its a little expensive for my taste. They charge per lb that you order and another 4$/lb to cook it and that rubbed me the wrong way. Now the food was cooked well. I don’t like heavy grilled fish and it becomes a texture i don’t like. The shellfish, octopus, squid were all prepared perfectly! Highly recommend everything but the fish unless you like it grilled to a crisp

H
Hillary Guzik-Jung

It was expensive but also good. We sampled a lot of things and enjoy most of them. I really like the grilled octopus. We got a whole bass too and that was good. The rice was fine, I wish that the lemon potatoes were more lemony, but I still enjoyed them. You go an order your fish and then find a spot to sit and order your sides at the table. This was unclear at first but we figured it out. The place felt loud but not so much were I could not enjoy the dinner. There was a lot of staff, some were helpful others not so much . This place gets busy, and it was quite filled at 5:30.

S
Sir_Eats-a-lot

Had lunch at Hamido with a friend. We both ordered the Grilled shrimp and calamari with choice of 2 sides. Taste wise, everything was good. The shrimp were on the small side and they only give you 2 pieces of calamari. I had the lemon potatoes and babaganoush sides. Again, very tasty but the portion was minimal. Thank goodness for the pita bread or I would have left hungry. Our server though polite was clearly rushing us out the door. I literally had a piece of pita in hand to dip in the babaganoush when she reached across my face and took it away. She tried to clear other plates off of our table and had to be stopped. I can understand if there was a line of people waiting for a table but there was not. Not cool.

K
Kristina Mosby

Pack your patience. The waiters were very hard to get. We found ourselves flagging them down to get service. All the food was good besides our scallops but our waiter removed it from our bill.

We lucked out as the line to this place can get fairly long but we were able to get a table within about half an hour last Saturday. The deal is you first go in and choose your seafood - nice whole fish, squid, scallops etc from the counter and then wait until a table is available and once there order your sides. I love the concept and this place gives it a nice Egyptian twist in terms of the spices used. All the dishes were nicely cooked. I especially enjoyed the whole striped sea bass, butterflied and topped with spices and olive oil. Nice bustling atmosphere as well. Overall, a nice spot for fresh seafood, especially if you can avoid a lengthy line.

M
Michelle

(4.3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) they moved to the corner of the OG spot which was a nice change. If you’ve never been here the concept is basically picking out the fish you’d like and the style to cook. The scallops were my absolute favvv! I liked the salad and the fish we got. I didn’t like the lemon potatoes. The calamari was decent but I think I’ll try fried next time as supposed to grilled. The babaganoush was decent and took away from the dryness. The new spot is 2 floors big. They’re very busy so we did have a bit of a wait but the food came rather quickly. It’s BYOB so def worth bringing. The service was pretty decent as well.

S
Samina Quraishi

Good sea food join. The fish was amazing. The Calamari was not made well, very tough. The mint drink was good. The mixed platter of side was fine. Baba ganoush was good. The lime potatoes were not great.

F
Fatboi3000*

We got here an hour after they open and there was already a crowd. That is always a good sign (good food). The fish was tasty, but it was not worth the hour wait. If you have somewhere else to be, I would estimate you would be at this place for at least 90 minutes to 2 hours if they are busy. I could not taste the difference between the red snapper and the other fish. The seasoning is very strong (but strong). This is why the different fish taste the same because the seasoning is the same. The Herring salad was surprisingly good. The restaurant seating is crammed together, which is the reason it only got four stars for the atmosphere. I would visit this place again just for the Herring salad.

We visited this Hamido on a Saturday afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The ordering process was efficient - you first select your fresh fish and cooking style at the counter (grilled, fried, baked, etc), then get seated to order additional sides. The seafood quality really shined through in dishes like the scallops which had perfect texture and flavor, as well as the grilled branzino. The fried calamari was a standout, being some of the best we've tried, with a perfect crispy coating. We also tried the grilled shrimp and mullet, though these weren't quite as memorable as the other dishes. The mullet was annoying because of the many tiny bones and not a lot of meat for the work. The shrimp was good but a bit overcooked. The prices were very reasonable for the generous portions of fresh seafood, coming to about $180 for our party of four. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere without being too crowded, and the staff was efficient in getting everyone seated and served.

I saw a clip video on IG, and next thing I knew, I was here! I showed up around 5:30 PM, and the line was tiny just a few minutes then the line are fully block the way in. I waited 10 minutes to get through the order point. You will get a little number for your table, and then it’s time to choose your main course. After you order, they’ll tell you if you’re sitting up or down. Then order your side dishes at your table. We waited about 30 minutes for our food—hello, bake red snapper, grilled scallops, and fried calamari, yes please! The sides came out pretty fast, though. Now, here's the tea: the food came out lukewarm—like, come on, I was ready to be wowed! But, to be fair, it was fresh and tasted good. Still, no real surprises only that clip can melt your mouth.

Came here hoping to sit outside enjoy with the nice weather, we took a seat outside however, upon going inside to order we were informed the outdoor dining area was closed due to limited staff. Fine, although we saw a few people eating out there and all the chairs and tables were still out and appeared open. This was a bit frustrating as the inside area is extremely loud with music and can be difficult to hear each other. It took about 30 minutes to place our order, but the food came out relatively quickly. Overall the food was good but it was not memorable. Id come back for some seafood and change somethings about the way I order. We spend around $200 for 4 people.

Simple Concept, Excellent Execution is the name of the game at Hamido. In an area filled with great restaurants options Hamido stands out with a great seafood dining experience. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by a casual yet welcoming atmosphere. Upon approaching the fish bar, you select from a variety of fresh seafood options. Everything is done by weight so you have to make sure your eyes are not bigger than your stomach or wallet. After you order you are able to select from either an upstairs or downstairs dining room. If available, I would suggest the upstairs as it is a bit more spacious. In terms of the food, each dish was well prepared. You really can't go wrong with any of the items Hamido has on offer. That being said the lobster tail and giant prawns were two spectacular dishes. Each was flavorful without sacrificing texture or temperature. If you are in Queens Hamido is a must visit

j

Have moved down the street to a much larger two floor location. Old location is now takeout only. Wait for a table at peak time on weekends is 45-90 minutes. Very similar experience to many seafood shops in coastal parts of the Middle East - wait in line and pick your items, charge is by weight. There are various marinades depending on what you order, some are ok, some are absolutely delicious. The lobster tail was beautiful but ridiculously overcooked. Everything else we tried was pretty solid. It seems many items are imported frozen, so probably worth asking which are fresh and which are not, if that makes a difference to you. Prices are not cheap but generally fair.

Pooja

Liked the butterfly style branzino and red snapper. Loved the mint lemonade but it’s extremely overpriced. Scallops were decent. Did not like the Egyptian soup with shrimp as much. Waited too long in the line on Saturday evening. Not sure if I’ll go again because of the wait time.

One of everything for me! Everything was seasoned so well and tasted fresh. Can be cooked to specific the way you want wethergrilled or fried. Come early because things do sell out fast. Prices on seafood is per pound. Well worth it!

4.5 Stars I give to this restaurant! They got a new place( on 33 and Ditmars), the older place was kinda small, always had a big line! Im the new place too! But its worth it! I loved the grilled squid that I ordered, the salad was really crispy aand well seasoned! Tahini was also very delicious! You come and choose waterver seafood you want and how you want it, grilled, cooked, deep fried… or whatever the options shown on the screen! My friend ordered a branzino, it was crispy outside and soft inside, really well seasoned also! The only thing I didn’t like it.. was the loud music. Had to talk loud with my friends. But I totally recommend it! Food is really good, very friendly staff, clean ambience.

The food was very tasty and the restaurant offered many seafood options, but it was on the pricier side. My dorota 🐠 was listed at $12.99 per pound and looked like about two pounds at most; however, I was charged $40.00 for it 🤷🏼‍♂️

The food at IBN Hamido was amazing. The flavors were on point and everything we tried had that comforting, well-seasoned touch that makes you want to come back. Most of the seafood was fresh and well-prepared, especially the lobster, fish, and clams. However, the large tiger prawns were a letdown. They were mushy and not pleasant to eat, which was disappointing given the price of over $40 per pound. The staff were generally great, though one dining staff member stood out for the wrong reason. He was hovering over our table throughout the meal, seemingly waiting for the moment we set our utensils down so he could rush us out. It made the experience feel unnecessarily hurried. We spent around $400 for a meal for four, including tip and taxes. While that’s on the higher end, the quality of most of the dishes made it feel mostly worthwhile. Still, it was an enjoyable visit overall. I would definitely return, just with a few adjustments to what I order and when I choose to linger.

S
Shawna Marie

Saw this place on TikTok and wanted to try it out. The ordering is in the back of the restaurant and you pick your meats that you would like. They have several options and the price is by the lb. I ordered shrimp, snapper (filleted), octopus, and lobster tail. Everything was good except I didn’t realize how many bones were in the snapper so it pretty much went to waste. Next time, I’d skip the fish and get more shrimp. They also bring you a menu after you order the meat to get sides. We ordered shrimp and corn shower which was good. They also have good pita bread. It was a neat experience to pick your own meat and then they cook it for you. $134 for two of us. I wouldn’t come back because there are so many places in NYC to eat at. 7/10 for flavor. I believe this is a byob restaurant, call beforehand to double check.

Friendly staff and service. You first go in there to choose your selection and how you want ut cooked, then you are seated. We got grilled snapper and it was seasoned nicely. We got grilled scallops which were okay tbh. The fried shrimp was good. The sides were a great portion, we got salad, fries and tahini. Would def recommend getting mint lemonade, its a classic. Its best to go early, it gets really crowded after 5-6 pm. Best to beat the crowd. Service was quick, and great atmosphere.

Staff here is very friendly especially the people that are taking orders by the fish bar. for all this food the prices weren’t bad honestly. I’ve stopped by today with my mom and the place is stunning really loved the new location! But to be honest the seasoning was a little disappointing. The appetizers were quick to arrive but our entrees took almost 40 minutes to come to our table and we had already finished all appetizers and got pretty full by the time it arrived, meanwhile other tables got theirs much quicker. Not coming back i prefer Astoria seafood much better taste.

J

It was ok. The idea is cool and the place is impeccable. The service was excellent. Byob. They will bring you an ice bucket. The seasoning was ok, nothing to go crazy about. Too much on the fish If you ask me. If it's fresh, let the food speak for itself. If you are into that cuisine, then enjoy. The wild jumbo shrimp was very tasty. Fish had a bit too much seasoning. The sides were very good.

Fresh seafood made to your preference. We came here on a friday night and waited almost 2 hours in the line but it was worth the wait. We may have ordered too much at that time because the hunger really kicked in. To reduce wait time, it may be nice to add more staff at the weighing station. Once seated, they gave us the appetizer menu. I recommend the mint juice and greek salad. It was a nice balance to the mains. As for the seafood, I definitely recommend the grilled octopus. The calamari was a little too tough for me. Service staff was efficient and amicable. Overall, it was a great vibe but the wait and execution of some items could be better. It is still worth a try though!

First time trying this place, and it wasn’t bad. There was no wait for a Sunday lunch. You choose your fish, and they bring it out to you. The side dishes were tasty, except for the fries, which weren’t very kid-friendly. The snapper was prepared in a style I hadn’t tried before—easy to eat and flavorful, though not deboned. The scallops could’ve used more cooking or been grilled for better flavor. The fried shrimp and calamari were good but slightly overcooked. Staff was friendly, service was quick, but the prices felt a bit high for the portion sizes.

Ambiance (5/5): There are two floors of dining space and plenty of outdoor seating as well. We did not have to wait at all on a weekday evening at 6p with plenty of open seating. We sat on the second floor where there was natural lighting, space, and not loud. Service (5/5): Upon entry, you go to the fresh fish area to pick what you want to eat. Prices are listed but the total weighting of each is not provided until you get the final bill. The counter attendants for the fish were a delight—comical and friendly! The servers were quick to provide service and cleanup dishes as they came out Hamido Salad (2/5): This was suggested to be a must-get item. It was such a plain salad with nothing special about it! Mezza (5/5): This was large, had variety, and each dish tasted great. I especially loved the grilled eggplant and the warmed pita! (Pita was supposedly the best thing of the meal according to my boyfriend…) Rice $5 (3/5): The rice was a heavy portion with 2 shared among 5 of us to be enough. 2.81lb Lobster = $87; DO NOT ORDER the lobster. It was probably the biggest waste of money from the night. It was cooked and cut in such that it was very very messy to get to the meat. Additionally, how they cooked it, the meat was stuck to the shell and the meat was chewy (overcooked). Lemonade Pitcher – approx. 8 cups – was refreshing and we enjoyed it. Might be too sweet for some! 1.675 lb Stripped Bass –$38 it cost an extra $3 for them to butterfly it – this was my favorite item that we ordered. The seasoning was good and the fish was very tender. .6 lb Tiger Shrimp $17 – approx. 8 pieces – no comment (table tried it but I did not) .575 lb scallops $24 – approx. 8 pieces - these were jumbo and not much flavor but cooked to perfection. The experience of picking your own fish was a cool novelty but ultimately, the food was very bland and not worth it. The final bill was a lot less than I thought it would be for 5 people ($257, pre-tip).

We waited for about an hour in line just to get a table because we were eager to try this famous New York City restaurant. Having tried many seafood restaurants around the world, I can honestly say this one was disappointing and overrated. The so-called “butterfly fish” was cooked in a high-pressure oven rather than grilled, and it lacked real flavor. In fact, the tomato sauce on the plate was far tastier than the seafood itself — it felt like eating tomato sauce rather than seafood. While the prices were reasonable, the food quality did not match the restaurant’s reputation. We tried several of their dishes, but in the end, we left completely dissatisfied.

This place scammed me so horribly. I was in disbelief when I was charged 37 for HALF a POUND OF crab legs when I specifically asked how much was a pound 37.99 then it switched to no half a pound is 37.99 after i ate the sides were disgusting to much random flavoring, No balance!! Then on top of that I was approached after asking for another half a pound of crab legs to make it a pound since the piece I picked was about to be a pound while I did check the scale and weighed an oz less than the first order. So advised him to remove the to go order that’s insane !! The servers don’t speak English the one that did was very rude about my receipt thinking I was trying to dine for a discount. Getting hostile with me . I heard the fish worker say give her the already cooked crab legs regardless for the inconvenience but the poor manager was young and full of jealousy. All I asked was to fix the check take out the scam price of 67.99 for the supposably to go order crab legs were over a pound which I did not ask for ! Scamming costumers does not help business grow. That half a pound was literally 4 little legs

Me and my husband just had dinner here 10 Minutes ago . I was excited to eat here because of the reviews and recommendations from coworkers. I left extremely disappointed . Customer service was good but that was it . The food was so bland . The guy helping with the order kept saying well seasoned but I don’t think they know what well seasoned means . My husband got the sea bass fried but it was fried to oblivion and very greasy. The calamari was greasy as well. My sea bass was baked but tasted like marinara , what the helly. The only thing that remotely had flavor was the lobster tail. The lemon potatoes did not taste like the lemon potatoes im used to from Astoria sea food or Taverna Kyklades. Mind you this place was busy as hell, I don’t get it , maybe they don’t know food sea food but this was annoying , we spent almost 200.00. I don’t recommend this place.

Last night I went to IBN Hamido Seafood, and unfortunately, the customer service and food experience were disappointing. The male waiter had an unempathetic attitude when I asked a simple question about the menu. When my food arrived, it was cold. I asked for it to be reheated, and his response — “You want hot food?” — came off as rude. The proteins (salmon, calamari, and shrimp) were cooked well, but the side dishes — fries and rice — were cold, unseasoned, and served at room temperature. The mint lemonade also lacked sweetness and flavor. Despite the food looking appealing, the long wait time, poor service, and bland temperature made the overall experience unpalatable. I expected much better from a restaurant of this reputation. .

Extremely disappointing experience. We were seated at a tiny table where our food could not fit properly. I requested another table, and a waiter assured us we would be moved when space became available. Yet customers who arrived after us were given that table instead. When I asked why, we were told there was “no space available.” The lady waiter was rude and dismissive, telling us to “adjust,” and the owner’s behavior felt discriminatory and unprofessional. Because of this behavior, my entire mood and dinner were ruined—I couldn’t even concentrate on the food. Completely unacceptable service.
