Opinions de Elizabeth Street Cafe Austin
Warm cozy inviting Vietnamese that is actually a lot more with its pan-Asian offerings. Definitely will visit again!
Absolutely loved this place. Very flavorful pho broth, amazing flavor on the tofu. Very soft, perfectly fried. Great portions!
No doubt my favourite place in Austin, we were here a year ago and came back and everything is delicious
Charming place with delicious food and decent service. The staff's outfits are the same dress in various colors which is so cute. The spring rolls were very fresh and tasty as was the pho. Many different seating options including inside, outside and at the cafe bar. Outside seating requires a bit more of a wait. Will definitely return!
Having a private event? Rent the Croissant Room at Elizabeth Street Café! From the start, working with the MML team was a delight. Preparation was clear and made easy. The day of the event went off without a hitch! The team at Elizabeth Street Café really go the extra mile to make things just right. We loved having both the inside and outside spaces--it really made the event feel open. And the food and drinks were fantastic! And really, this is a huge shout out to the entire team for making it extra special. We had the best time and I highly recommend renting the Croissant Room for your next event!
We visited Austin TX & got stuck in the ice storm this weekend. This place made our extra day here so much better. The Pho was delicious. Best pho broth I’ve had anywhere! We also got some crispy rolls & it came with plenty of fresh herbs & lettuces. The nước chấm dipping sauce reminded me of my mom’s! DELICIOUS food!!!! Lovely packaging. Thank you so much.
The experience is always top notch! Highest quality food and service. I’ve also ordered recently through DoorDash and appreciate the staff taking taking the time to follow-up if there is ever an issue with the order, and going above and beyond to make things right if necessary. Kudos to the entire staff and thank you for the excellent service!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Elizabeth Café is an absolute gem! I stopped in recently and was blown away by how warm, charming, and perfectly “Austin” this spot feels. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, the service is quick, and everything on the menu tastes fresh and thoughtfully made. The vibes are cozy, bright, and just make you want to stay awhile. My food and coffee were both perfect — full of flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell they really care about quality here. Whether you’re grabbing a quick breakfast, meeting a friend, or just want a relaxing café to unwind, Elizabeth Café hits every mark. Highly recommend! I’ll definitely be coming back. 🌿☕️
We’ve been wanting to try this place for some time and yesterday we finally had the chance. We came in for Happy Hour on Thursday and ordered the Rice Paper Rolls (Crispy Chicken), Chili Oil Dumplings, Steamed Rice Rolls, and Drunken Noodles. All dishes were great! Kai our server provided amazing service and made some great recommendations for us first timers..we’d come back for the service alone!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. The food is just so good. We’ve tried so many things on the menu and have loved it all. Only complaint is service and be a little slow and the seating is tight because it’s a small restaurant but the rest of the experience makes up for it. If you’re looking for great Vietnamese food in the Austin area, this is the spot.
Authentic, Flavorful, and Unforgettable Elizabeth Vietnamese Restaurant nails it with bold, authentic flavors and a cozy, inviting vibe. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted—fresh, vibrant, and deeply satisfying. The Paloma with a mezcal twist was a highlight: refreshing, smoky, and perfectly balanced. I enjoyed a relaxed afternoon on the patio with my dog, and it was pure bliss. Can’t wait to come back!
We’re visiting Austin and all of us agree that Elizabeth Street has been our favorite meal. The spring rolls, chili oil dumplings, Singapore noodles, steak fried rice, chocolate mousse and croissant beignets were all amazing. Our server, Anna, was great. The atmosphere is lovely. Definitely worth a visit or ten.
LOVED everything about Elizabeth st cafe!!!All the servers were very friendly, and kept checking in on us. The decor and atmosphere was immaculate especially with all the outdoor seating for a sunny day. And of course the food was all delicious. A good menu with a lot to choose from including banh mi and pho, but we went for summer rolls, fried rice rolls and grilled fish bun vermicelli bowl. They were all delicious! 10/10! A good majority of the menu was also gluten-free friendly.

We met a group of friends at Elizabeth Street for dinner and drinks. As always, the venue, menu, service and food were all outstanding.

The spring rolls, pork belly buns, Saints and Sunsets mocktails, and Opera cake were delicious. My friend really liked her fried rice. I ordered the banh cuon, and although it was tasty with very authentic flavors, the steamed rice batter itself was quite thick. Pro: You get full really fast on just the dough. Con: You miss out on the tasty pork fillings, and like me, if you're visiting from out of town and staying at a hotel, you have to leave behind half the dish because you can't take back leftovers.
We went to dinner as a group of nine and arrived without a reservation. Even so, we were seated quickly (at separate tables), which worked out perfectly since the restaurant filled up shortly after. The place is very nice, especially the terrace. The weather was great and the area is calm, with little traffic, making the atmosphere very pleasant. The service was excellent. Our waiter, Mark, gave us great recommendations and was very attentive. We started with the buns (the order comes with two, but they added an extra one), had the grilled chicken thigh banh mi with generous portions, and finished with the drunken beef noodles. The beef was delicious and flavorful, though it is spicy — something they let you know in advance. Overall, a great experience and a place I would definitely visit again.
Visited Elizabeth Street Café with a friend and had a really nice experience. The place itself is beautiful and cozy, and the staff was polite and welcoming, which made the visit even more enjoyable. We ordered the Ginger-Chili Oil Dumplings, Spicy Chicken Crunch Spring Rolls, Mushroom & Tofu Bun, and Chicken Banh Mi. The Chicken Banh Mi and the Dumplings were absolutely amazing and full of flavor — easily the highlights of the meal. The Spring Rolls and Mushroom & Tofu Bun were decent but felt more on the average side compared to the standout dishes. We also tried their French Toast, and it was excellent — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and definitely something I’d recommend trying. Overall, Elizabeth Street Café offers a great combination of good food, pleasant ambience, and friendly service. I’d happily come back again, especially for the Banh Mi, Dumplings, and French Toast. Must-try: Chicken Banh Mi, Ginger-Chili Oil Dumplings & French Toast
Elizabeth Street Cafe on South Lamar in Austin is a culinary delight, masterfully blending the sophistication of French cuisine with the bold flavors of Vietnamese heritage. The ambiance echoes this fusion, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere. The Vietnamese wonton soup, a creative reinterpretation of the classic French onion soup, was a highlight of our visit. Rich, comforting, and perfectly suited to a chilly evening, it showcased the cafe's ability to reimagine familiar dishes with unexpected flair. The Bahn Coun was a testament to the kitchen's skill, with tender, expertly cooked meat and a harmonious balance of textures and flavors. Each component was carefully crafted to elevate the dish as a whole. Dessert was a symphony of refined indulgence: the macarons were delicate, nuanced confections, while the chocolate sesame puff was a sublime marriage of crispy, nutty, and rich elements, a true tour de force of textural contrast and flavor pairing. Overall, Elizabeth Street Cafe delivers a distinctive and captivating dining experience, one that will appeal to adventurous palaters and those seeking a sophisticated take on traditional flavors.
My husband and I visited Elisabeth Street Café on a Sunday for a late lunch, and street parking nearby was easy to find. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and, since we had a reservation, promptly shown to our table. The tables are set quite close together - so, at times when the noise level is not deafening, it kind of feels like a large banquet table as one can overhear conversations from nearby guests. Overall, I had two main concerns during our visit: Noise level: the restaurant was extremely loud. Voices from a large table carried throughout the room, making it difficult to hear my husband even when sitting directly across from him. The atmosphere became uncomfortable, and I would recommend that management consider adding sound-absorbing panels to help balance the acoustics. Food spiciness: while the flavors were bold, the redfish dish was overwhelmingly spicy. I usually tolerate heat quite well, but this level of spice left me with severe reflux, which is very uncommon for me. It would be helpful if the staff asked guests about their spice tolerance before serving dishes prepared with such intensity. Elisabeth Street Café has great potential, with a lovely ambiance and attentive service, but addressing the noise and spice-level concerns would make the dining experience much more enjoyable.
The food was outstanding, a solid 50/10. The presentation, dish choices, flavors, and temperature were all amazing. However, the service left much to be desired. I initially thought I could give them the benefit of the doubt, considering they were transitioning into dinner service, but I was never offered anything to drink beyond the water that their attentive busser provided. Even though I was dining alone, I had to encourage a family of three to seek out their server. The inattentiveness of the staff was frustrating, and I can't honestly recommend this place for a dining experience but I would for take out.

I’m accustomed to family run Vietnamese restaurants. This hipster cafe is notable for its long waiting times and high prices. $16 for miso based vegetarian pho plus $6 more to add 2 pieces of tofu…
Beautiful place, full of tasteless food claiming to be Vietnamese 😕 Vietnam is known for its rich, yet light, aromatic umami food that brings complexity and depth while maintaining simple, light and refreshing. The food here really didn’t bring the flavors I know and love, being Vietnamese. I’ve had Bánh mì far better out of trucks, If you want to try Banh mi that is really Vietnamese, please got to Baguette House on North Lamar. Or Cơm Tấm Pa Phi. Pho from Pho Dan is also a great pick. The chicken Pho was underwhelming :( and very bland. There was no Vietnamese pickled vegetables in my sandwhich. And if there was Pa Te I didn’t taste it. It just makes me sad because to me Vietnamese food is so special, and they are boasting of having authentic Vietnamese food with Vietnamese names but just aren’t executing it and slandering what Vietnamese food really is. I’m assuming the good reviews are from people who don’t eat Vietnamese Food. Despite appetizing visuals; the flavor didn’t suffice or measure up
The food was really lacking for the price. $22 for a bowl of Pho. The pho broth was really bland, and the beef was very scarce. The broth was very hot which was good. But overall it was really lacking. For those who know Pho and appreciate quality Pho, this isn’t for you. To be honest it’s probably some of the most average pho I’ve had. Saved only by the atmosphere. Restaurant Atmosphere and service were lovely.
worst phở i’ve ever had. if you come here please order something else. Genuinely atrocious. Please change chefs or recipes or whatever, or stop calling yourself a viet restaurant if the phở is this bad. Not even mediocre. It was just plain terrible 💀💀💀💀💀
