Juan was outstanding..great friendly service and amazing migas and carnitas tacos! Cant wait to return!
This place it’s great, food was delicious and costumer service was a pro!! Doris helped me out to choose my tacos and they’re were an amazing choice. I loved the food and the atmosphere there. Definitely coming back. Thank you for my delicious food guys.
I had the largest serving of carnitas in one taco today. The fire chick taco is delicious and decorative. The sweet tea has plenty of sugar too. It's a nice little spot!
Let me make something very clear from the jump: Kesos Tacos is not a restaurant. It is an experience. A revelation. A borderline spiritual awakening disguised as a taco spot. I have eaten tacos in food trucks under flickering streetlights. I have eaten tacos from abuelas who guard their recipes like nuclear launch codes. I have eaten tacos at 2 a.m., 12 p.m., and everywhere in between. And yet somehow, some way, Kesos Tacos in Austin stands in a league of its own like it was handcrafted by the gods of masa and slow-braised meat.
WOW! This is the BEST taco place ever #yumcity. The host/cashier Lucy was so welcoming and friendly, offering wonderful suggestions. Also, queso is so good nothing is better and you get a great size for the cost. The place is so cute and clean! #tripleoinker
I've been coming here for about 3 years now and have always had a great experience. The meat in the tacos are well cooked, flavors are amazing, and sauces are of great quality. Prices are awesome as well and I really appreciate the service--Miguel is so kind, he even remembers how I always ask for a cup for water haha, very grateful for this place, it has made my college experience so much better!
I tried Kesos for the first time this week & I would recommend it for those that haven't tried yet. They have too many options but Dora or I think her name was Dorisse was so kind to helped choose. I tried the classico and Mr Toro and they were so good. I recommend them 100%
I've always been a fan of the mini churros... That chocolate dipping sauce is like nothing else in the world. But last time I ordered them, they looked... different. Very pale. I was worried I had gotten an undercooked batch. Took my first bite... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD IT WAS THE BEST THING I HAD EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE! The crunch gave way to a satisfying chewy center the likes of which I could never dream. Did they change the recipe, I wondered? Or do I just prefer less well done churros?? I thought it was probably a fluke and I'd never get them that way again. But I ordered them again today and... HALLELUJAH THEY WERE EXACTLY THE SAME!!! I don't know if the recipe really has been changed, or if a rogue cook has been frying them differently, but I pray to god its a permanent change. How could something so delicious get so much better??? In other news, I've been pretty much indifferent to chips and queso for my entire life, until I had them here. Now I'm an absolute fiend. It's my go-to treat when I need comfort food or want to celebrate, and I was absolutely devastated when I had dental surgery and could have any for TWO WHOLE WEEKS. They're pretty much fundamental to my identity now. For tacos, I'm obsessed with the barbacoa. They're even better cold the next day, believe it or not. But I'm really just here to say PLEASE LET THE CHURRO CHANGE, WHATEVER IT IS, BE PERMANENT!!
Good food, Plenty of parking at Spicewood Springs location. Service was great - Maria provided information about menu, brought our food to our table, and made sure we had everything we needed. Wonderful lunch experience. Prices are very reasonable!
Kesos Tacos is a fantastic local business that delivers amazing food, quality, and great service every time. Their team is friendly, dedicated, and truly passionate about what they do. We have the privilege of insuring them through our commercial lines at Heaton Bennett Insurance, and it’s clear they put care and commitment into everything they serve. Highly recommend Kesos Tacos!
Absolute gem of a place. I visited this place on my last day in Austin and I regret so much not coming here before. Vibe is good to chill with friends and family. I tried the fried avocado taco and churro bites. Both were really good. It is relatively very cheap. They also have a lot of options to choose from.
Not sure how this place isn’t packed on a Saturday morning. $1 mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays from 10-2 are reason enough to come here. Add to that, the tacos are godly. Austin does breakfast tacos right, this place does them at another level. We all had different tacos and not a single one disappointed. The salsa bar has a variety of spice levels and flavors that give the tacos another level of deliciousness. If you live in Austin or are visiting, make this a regular spot.
Amazing queso selection and salsa for every appetite. The tacos were artfully created and delicious! That's just the beginning, the service from Juan was extraordinary and the actual shop is very cute with a very nice outdoor area with shade depending on time of day and table location. 10/10 will be back
I can't believe how inexpensive and satisfying my dinner was! I was also very impressed with the staff of two handling lots of orders, serving, cooking, and cleaning on a busy weeknight. Two tacos made for a very hearty meal! Patio is clean and charming-- a fun way to watch the world go by. I also love that they have breakfast tacos all day. I had an egg and potato taco and a veggie taco. They were so filling, I got my churro bites to go.
I was surprised by how good the tacos were. My boyfriend who goes over there said they were good but I underestimated what he meant. The tacos a pretty big and 2 are enough to fill you up. Compared to torchys you get more food here. The inside was really clean and had a ton of bright light. I had the al pastor taco that was really good. I also had the fajita which was also good, but the pastor was better. My boyfriend gets the fire chick and the rise and shine. The only compliant he’s had is that the tacos are really oily and greasy at times, but not all the time. Unfortunately it results in him having heartburn. He also said that good has gotten significantly better over the last 2 years. The wait time was incredibly fast, even when it was really busy. The salsas were also good, I liked the green one (not the avocado one). I would recommend this restaurant! I will say that’s it’s very pricey now.
My wife loves this place and we have eaten here many times. Today was abnormal. The chips were stale and my T Fish taco was cold. Not typical at all. I poured the queso on the taco to add some warmth. The cheese is always good.
Food was pretty good, I ordered the chorizo & egg and potato and egg tacos while my partner had the shrimp tacos. My ONLY reservation is the tortillas. They’re not made in house, and unfortunately thats what makes or breaks a taco - is a good tortilla. Besides that, I was a bit disappointed to have paid $3 for a tiny little Tropicana OJ with “*Ingredients not found in regular orange juice,” on the label whatever that means. I’m not disappointed for trying this place, but I can’t say I have a reason to return if not for the appeal of the $1 mimosas on the weekend happy hour. Service was prompt and polite, and the restaurant itself has an amazing atmosphere which could make up for the food if that’s more important to you. I’m sure it’d be a great spot to have a quick lunch with friends or family but I was hoping to scratch my taco itch while on a trip in Austin and just couldn’t stand the doughy, pale tortillas.
Happened to be on campus so decided to give this taco restaurant a try. Wasn’t expecting much given that due to its location it catered to college kids mostly but was pleasantly surprised. The tacos were well put together and very delicious! We tried the chicken fajita, fried avocado, Baja shrimp & the John special taco…all of them were very good but the tortillas were not made fresh. If the tacos were served on fresh tortillas that would be a 5-star rating for me! P.S. Nice, clean restaurant but restrooms were not very clean
Queso 10/10!!! Definitely rivals Torchy’s. Unfortunately, my burrito experience was less than satisfactory. Rice was the main ingredient, which threw off the expected ingredients ratio per bite and the lettuce tasted like the bagged, store bought kind. Suggestions: 1.) default pico de gallo instead of lettuce 2.) black beans as an option to refried beans 3.) EASY ON THE RICE.
I’ve been going here for a few years and have had in general relatively good experiences with the food and neutral experiences with the staff. This morning me and a friend came in for some queso and were treated very rudely by the staff— she walked away before my friend could order and when she came back told us in a condescending tone that we could sit down and wait. My friend corrected her and said she hadn’t ordered yet. Are queso, even though I’m fairly sure it’s premade, took a very long time to come out to us. We started seeing people walking up to where the bags of food were left on the counter from the kitchen, staff, and picking up their food from there, so I figured that something must’ve changed about the way that you received the food. I walked up to ask about it and was again told “NONONONO” and to wait for our food at the table. Keep in mind, we didn’t receive a number or anything to indicate that we were supposed to sit and wait for the food. After another 10 minutes or so my friend walked up and asked if we were supposed to receive a number, and the staff member responded in a really rude, condescending, and weird tone that we “came in before it was busy. Those customers came in /after/ it got busy, that’s why they got a number.” A few minutes later we finally got the food, and they wandered around the store looking for who to give it to for a few minutes (because we didn’t have a number, go figure). This is the first time I’ve had any kind of negative experience with the staff, Who otherwise I’ve all been very kind and accommodating. I’m really surprised by their behavior
I wanted to like it, but it just didn’t deliver. The food was ok, it wasn’t the best or worst tacos I’ve had. The chicken fajita was lacking flavor. The Mr toro was good, and the bbq taco was ok. The chips were bland the the queso was mediocre . The vibe inside was nice however the restaurant and a pungent smell of humidity and water damage . The bathrooms were absolutely gross. I’d give it a 5/10 but since I can’t give that rating we’ll round up to 3/5 .
I gave it two stars based on flavor alone, which is actually very good. However, the breakfast tacos themselves are too wet. It seems like the eggs aren’t cooked long enough, causing the tortillas to become soggy.
The bacon and egg taco was horrible the taco had a very wet and slimy texture, not the best flavor in the world, and barely any bacon. If I were to take a guess the bacon was chopped up and mixed in to hide the true amount. I’m usually not a picky person but I regretted picking the bacon and egg taco. However, I would recommend picking the John Special it was much better flavor and texture wise. Matter of fact after I ate the bacon taco I was debating just throwing the tacos I purchased away until I tried the John Special, so that taco saved breakfast for me.
I've been coming to this taco place for the last 4 years without issue. Today, I was backing into a parking spot when this lady came outside with a mean look on her face. I tried explaining "Ma'am, I'm just backing up to park" and she just kept pointing her finger at me like I was doing something wrong. I love the tacos here but that was uncalled for. Again, never had no issues with parking here or the service except for this lady. The food is great but I don't think I will be coming back in here.
I usually go to Kesos Tacos for lunch on Fridays, and I usually walk since it’s close to my apartment. Today I drove because I have quite a few errands to run. I decided to go to UPS right an across the street just to check one thing off my list before I enjoy my Baja shrimp taco. However, I was in the other store for maybe 5 minutes and when I came back my car was booted with a large fine. This was extremely upsetting, inconvenient, and frankly unfair. Moreover, I definitely did not get a taco today from this establishment and will not in the near future.
