Was here from Washington State and came to see Chicken Shit Bingo. Even though I was $80 into tickets and I didn't win, I had a helleva good time. It was crowded, but great service and great people. Live band and dancing up front, chicken shit crowd filling the rest of the property...what more could you ask for on a Sunday afternoon?
If you dont like Texas Honky Tonk Dives, dont go here, city slicker. This is a true Texas Original. WE LOVE JENNY!!!!
Judy and Terry are incredible. This is my favorite live music bar in town
Always a good fun crowd for music and Chicken Bingo on Sundays around 4 to 8.
The Chicken Poop Roulette is a blast! The line ticket is golden! Bring the kiddos.
Hmm. I don't think it's difficult to find parking, particularly as I walk there!
I used to be a regular customer from the mid 70s through mid 80s. I played a lot of dominos in the back. Moon and 42 mostly. They had an original slate domino table with beer holders. We used chalk to keep score on the slate surface. Hope to return soon with my friends, Sam and Sarah Kiger. The Little Longhorn was one of the best kept little secrets in Austin for years. Cheap cold beer, pool tables and dominos. I now live in New Mexico now but if I were in Austin right now I'd be at the Little Longhorn Saloon.
Great selection of beers and a solid lineup of true Texas country every night on the stage! This place is quintessential Austin and a great example of what a bar should be!
Great honky tonk, live music, dancing and cold beers. The good life
I absolutely love this place! Such great people and such great fun. Always a good time when I come to the little longhorn saloon!!!
Great music almost every night. Got a serious “locals” vibe but in a non the less friendly way. A gem not to be missed.
Sunday Chicken sh** bingo is a blast. Go! Just go. Also great live Texas swing music and great beer prices
Intimate and casual bar with a lot of character. A great place to see love music. They always book fantastic bands.
Chicken Bingo is a must see. The staff are so friendly. We'll worth the visit in Austin.
This place is legendary in Austin. Great music, cold beer and the most amazing staff in all of the Lone Star State!!!
Like good, local music, especially real country? You'll like this cozy little place. Eveebody is the friend you may not have met yet.
this gem on burnet rd is the real deal.. hardcore austin vibe. alvin crow every thursday. you just won't believe the feeling when you walk in. it's truly an austin original. such a beautiful thing. on thursdays from 9pm-1am, it's alvin crow, wes starr, john X reed, jason crow. THAT is an ALL-STAR band, to say the least. you will be surprised to see the famous faces that mosey in to hear alvin crow---nicknamed THE LIVING BREATHING JUKEBOX!! delay no more - experience this little piece of heaven. it's like stepping thru a time warp. alvin's music will have you out of your seat - dancing the night away. and a bonus: NO COVER CHARGE!!!
Best little honky tonk, sure but also great staff and prices. Have you heard about CHICKEN SHXT BINGO? Yup, there's here is the original!
Like you stepped back in time to when it was simple, good friends meeting for the first time. Amazing atmosphere, and awesome folks. Good music too
Great local joint that's been around a long time. Recent addition of good craft beer attracts some new patrons.
Ginny's is NOT closed as the tag says...Ginny's is open and still the best place in town for serious country, western, and honky-tonk music Cheap, ice cold beer and a cool vibe..
This place is exactly what it thinks it is
Burnett might evolve, but The Little Longhorn will remain true to its original, amazing form. This place is amazing
Had so much fun drinking and playing chicken bingo, everyone was so friendly and inviting!
Always a great band playing. Cold beer. Nice people. I love this place.
Great local spot for good music, cold drinks, and fun entertainment!
Great music, cheap beer, 16 taps and Chicken $h!t bingo on Sundays!
I traveled from Washington state and this place has been amazing. The service is awesome and the atmosphere is so welcoming. The dance instructors taught me how to two-step and they were so patient with me! The owner made this place feel like home! Thank you all so much for a great time!
The place was awesome!! The Original Home of Chicken Sh!t Bingo was over the top fun!! I did not win, but man if you’ve never been here at The Little Longhorn Saloon, it is definitely a destination to come too!! The owners are true to the core!! The Band Bob Appel was WOW!! Can not even tell you how awesome!!
Almost feel like I shouldn’t give it a rave review so other tourists (like us😂)won’t find it. Great bar. Great band -Dallas Moore. Terrific folks. Will definitely come here again if we find ourselves in Austin.
An iconic Austin music venue & bar that we almost lost to the (sad) ever-changing city. It's a local favorite with a friendly chill atmosphere, dancing, and always a good time. Loved when Dale Watson was a weekly artist. Never met a stranger here.
This place is the real deal! We visited here while staying in "LoBurn" Live band (were great) and the atmosphere was hoppin'. Great mix of peeps all having a great time. If I lived in Austin this would be my hang out.
This is a real deal, old school Texas Honky Tonk. Great band playing last night. Nice group of patrons as well. Owners were super friendly and welcoming. I am from NYC and will return to Longhorn Saloon in the future. Worth the trip.
We flew into Austin from Michigan to hit the honky tonks and this one was on our list this trip. The little long horn didn’t Disappoint. Great music and a awesome staff.Lots of dancing and a lot of laughs. Thanks Terry for a memorable night. We will be back again!!
My wife and I love this place. The beer is cold, music is excellent, and more importantly the staff is perfect. Tonight the owner came through and gave her love to every patron of her establishment. If you come here be prepared to stay because the customer service is as if you were home.
You will not find a more authentic Texas honky tonk than this! It just has that old Texas flavor from the decor on the walls and the old Ford Texaco truck out back to the bartenders who are all friendly and energetic. The band was unbelievable! Johnny McGowen and his Rugged Gents! True Texas honky tonk, boot scootin music. I can’t rave enough about them. The chicken sh*t bingo was also fun. But the real draw is the music and the atmosphere. If you’re in Austin and want to experience a real old style Texas honky tonk, this is the place to go.
Great local place to watch live Austin music.
Came for the chicken poop bingo, loved it! So much fun. Family friendly too, my 2 sons (9 and 12) had an absolute blast. We will defiantly be back for more fun.
Terri and her team are fantastic. They make you feel instantly welcome and at home. They have great deals on Lone Star but a solid line up of drafts. Always great music!
First of all, bingo- from the poop of the chicken- be aggressive because people will buy up your tickets! Anyways! THIS PLACE IS LEGENDARY AKA LEGEND-TERRY. Terry the owner is a babe and a bad ass. She makes sure everyone feels welcomed. Gave our dogs treats, taught me how to two step. This woman is amazing- and her staff is just as wonderful. I am so thankful for coming here. Thank you!! Big shout outs to Diana, Libby, and Amanda as well!
Real music and real Austin ! Alan Haynes was there last week and Ulrich Ellison joined him on a guitar jam. It was so beautiful and the guitar energy all over the place. Izzy Cox played one of her last shows at the little longhorn salon and that makes it really special joint in Austin. Bar only beer and wine. Cheers
Quaint hole in the wall piece of paradise. Tell momma hi. She always here. Do y'all selves a favor n come in round 4-7pm Sundays. Chicken bingo is awesome. TIP THE BAND!! Thanks momma for the good time!!
What a great bar! Loved the atmosphere and the music. Terry and her team made sure we all had a blast: Thanks Terry!
Awesome bar and great musical talent! Terry the owner was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend stopping at this tavern. Its alot of fun!
I first went there with my mother around 1974. Exceptional neighborhood dive bar. A fellow named Bill Pittman and his wife ran it. The only thing that really has changed is the clientele. A lot more millennials. Most patrons during that time I first frequented it were older and have either passed or have had to move from surrounding areas because they were forced to relocate because they could not afford the cost of property taxes due to gentrification. Not complaining about millennials because if they enjoy the place they have to be good people and are good company to have conversations with.
Oh man, this place is a blast! Friendly folks, kinda diverse crowd, and even though everyone else was SO GOOD, it was still fun tryin' to two-step with my partner. Not to mention, great country bands play here.
One of Austin's original authentic neighborhood bar owned by none other than Dale Watson . If you like to hear grrrrreat Texas Music kick.up your heels & come on down to drink local Texas beers with the friendly folks at Little Longhorn Saloon :-)
New owner has tuned up this famous honky tonk! Continued great music, the chicken s...t concert on Sundays, and dancin'. Loved it!!!
Janet made us feel right at home. I'm from San Antonio and will be coming back soon. Great music, live, every night.
My favorite place in Austin. It's family, it's fun, and it's live! If you like honky-tonk live music, Lonestar beer, and good times, this is where you want to be.
Four generations of my family have enjoyed listening to music, dancing like crazy hillbillies, and visiting with the big circle of family/friends at the one and only Little Longhorn Saloon. So many, many talented musicians and bands have taken the stage here. You'll always feel welcomed and made a part of the family here. You can become a, "chicken whisperer" too.
finally made it here after living in Austin over 15 years. It's quite the spot from youngsters to older Austin OG locals and one of the few places left that still feels like Austin in a way.
Dropped on a Tuesday night as I needed a fix for some live music, but wow, what a treat. Small venue packed with folks who love music and dancing. I will not make the mistake of being improperly dressed again as I visit Austin. While it’s been a minute since I’ve danced a proper country bar, my southern raising made me quite jealous of those in the floor. Great atmosphere!
Cheap beer, live band, and a down to earth mixed crowd of people that were there to dance and hang with friends. Maintains the essence of old Austin along with locals who know each other. If you’re looking for a fun hole in the wall honky tonk, bring your boots, and stop by for a drink.
A smaller bar in Austin. Cold drinks, friendly staff. But, what everyone came for was the Chicken Sh*t Bingo. Yes, you read that right. You basically place a random bet for $2 or $5 were the chicken will poop at. I loaded a picture of the rules to take a look at. Chickens were well cared for, and each round last about 30 minutes normally.
What a fun Texas “joint” where the music is live and the crowd on a Saturday night is a multi-generation mix of two stepping joyful souls. Dancing boots are not required but certainly welcomed. Toe tapping at your chair is something you cannot avoid here because the music is fun and the dance space is always occupied, but not too crowded. And the band plays for tips, so if you appreciate the effort and energy of the band, remember to put a tip in the can!
BEST HONKY TONK with live music! The staff is so friendly and everything about it feels local. In a matter of three hours, I felt like everyone around my was my extended family I never met. “Bill“, who I believe has lived here forever, danced and led thru the best two stepping I’ve ever done in my life. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
Nice honky-tonk with great live music. Band came around and thanked us for coming out to listen.
Solid dive bar right on Burnet. $1 Lone Star draft during happy hour! Always good live music. An Austin legend right here!
LLS is the north-central Austin honky tonk to get your Texas Swing on any day of the week. It simultaneously has a relaxed and spirited atmosphere reminiscent of when its location was probably in the country (outside the city limits).
Real Texas bar- cowboys and 2Step! Great country bands. Take a twirl on the dance floor. Mid week fun.
Sunday's are perfect if you can end them with this place. Cheap cold beer, friendly crowd & a chicken poopin on top of the pool table... Which can earn you some cash?
Very welcoming, homely, free 2-step dancing lessons, free parking and a great place to have a fun night. We arrived there 30 mins late for free dance lessons on a Wednesday night, but the instructor was kind enough to teach us the basic 2-step lesson to get us prepared for a night of dancing. Everyone there were very friendly and we all (my family) had a good time. Live music was great and it was a night to remember in Austin.
I love Ginny's and I've been going here for years. I feel like the star rating here should range based on what day it is how easy it is to park there. It's a tiny little place so when it's full it's FULL! Not all bars are fun all the time, so the more crowded it gets it turns into a 3-star bar. And if there's live music and it's not that crowded, it's five star for me.
Novelties aside, this is a great venue. Bar selection is basic and service is fast and to the point. A variety of bands play here. You can sit up right next to them or well away for conversation. It's a pretention-free zone, you might be next to bikers or business suits, but you'll have a good time.
Came here for chicken shit bingo this past weekend and I was certainly underwhelmed. The venue itself was really cool and the vibes were definitely there, but the event itself felt touristy and gimmicky, everywhere we looked it felt like we were being nickel and dimed. There were loads of children weird was odd it its own way since everyone was gambling and drinking beer. The line for beer took forever with only a couple of people in front of us. Definitely won't be going back any time soon unless people visit from out of town or if it doesn't look crowded.
Old school digs for live music They have one or two different bands pretty much every eve of the year, and that’s pretty much what you’re here for. The place is a bit loud, but not unbearably so, the people are friendly, the kusic is usually good (ion a honky-tonk kinda way), the beer is cheap and cold, and, we’ll, what else do you want?
First time here but I always like trying new places. When we arrived they were making people wait outside so that the private event could clear the place first. First opinion it’s very small and tight quarters to walk around or anything. There was a band playing and it was so loud because of how small it was that you couldn’t have a conversation with someone 6 inches from you.
My wife and I went to check this place out for its famous Chicken Shit Bingo. We were amazed at how many people showed up and filled up the parking lot. It was crowded so it was a bit tough to even see the Chicken Shit Bingo to be honest. But we enjoyed the energy of the crowd and the atmosphere. When we went inside the saloon, we enjoyed the live music and dancing. The drinks were reasonable priced. It was a good time and something different to do on a Sunday.
Service is 1 cuz barkeeper was rude to customers and charged $14 for premixed margarita supposed to be top shelf but was terrible. Atmosphere was 5 cuz band was great. Two women. One on cello and other on guitar. Most fulfilled 2 hours with other patrons.
Great place, but beware ! Bartender just cut me short for my change, 50 dollars. Incredible!
I never met any locals or veterans there, now I know why.The barkeep was really loud and nasty to me, I should of had her make good on her threat to call the police to find out what her problem was..I not even had my first beer!!...that place is poison.
Watch the bartenders with your money here! I have been here a few times and it has been fun, but last Friday the waitress tried to steal $10 from me when my friend paid for our beers and I didn't know it at first. I slapped 10 on the bar and she just took it and walked off, no change, no eye contact, no putting it in the tip jar either. Of course now she wasn't going to come to the end of the bar or look at me for awhile, so I finally got her attention and she just looks at me from the middle of the bar and shrugs like 'what?'. I finally get her to come over and she pulls the 10 out of her pocket and puts it on the bar with nothing more that a quick 'I didn't know' and turns around. Very impolite and dishonest.
I was sexually harassed in the first five minutes of walking in this place. And i was served a beer so old and stale it had lost all its carbonation. and it was sour tasting. People at the bar were holding seats with their hands for people who were not present. This kind of stuff does not fly in my part of town. This bar is actually misogynist and horrible. I tried to email Dale Watson but, he is unreachable. Guess that is how much he cares about customer service. If you are a broke down old nasty jerk, this is the bar for you!
Fun place if the old blonde bartender weren't jealous of her young coworkers and patrons. Poor Terry, hope your isn't coming up short ,during her cigarette breaks. Hopefully the IRS will intervene.
Zero regards for hygiene, rude staff acting like our presence was an inconvenience, horrible food. Avoid this place at all cost
I had a really upsetting experience at Little Longhorn. I’m currently 7 months pregnant, so staying hydrated is extremely important. I brought my water bottle with me and was sitting at my table when a server approached me in a very rude and aggressive manner and told me I couldn’t have my water bottle at the bar. I calmly explained that I’m pregnant and need to be drinking water consistently, but she showed zero empathy or understanding. Instead of offering any kind of solution, like bringing me a glass of water, she simply took my water bottle away. I was honestly shocked at how dismissive and uncaring she was. What makes this even more disappointing is that I’ve always been a promoter of this place. I’ve brought countless visitors from out of town here because I loved the atmosphere and wanted others to experience it too. But after being treated this way, I will no longer be recommending or bringing anyone here. It wasn’t just the policy—it was the complete lack of basic courtesy, compassion, and customer care. There are ways to enforce rules while still being respectful and considerate, and this was not it. This experience left me feeling unwelcome and extremely disappointed.
I WAS IN THERE LAST NIGHT SUNDAY MAR 8TH , FOR SOME REASON THERE IS MOST FOUL MOUTH BLOND HEAED BAR TENDER, THAT TOTALY HUMILIATED RIGHT IN FRONT OF THIS VERY NICE PERSON I WAS VISITING WITH.FOR NO REASON AT ALL.BUT ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME EATHER. I HAVE GOIN IN THIS PLACE SINCE 1978.WHAT A SHAME.
Love this place but the 2 main bartenders are just so rude. I absolutely do not understand what someone gets out of acting like that twords people.
