Opinions de Perry's Steakhouse & Grille Austin
This place never disappoints. I tried their off menu version of a beef Wellington and it was outstanding. The escargot for a starter was a neat treat and very delicious. This place is busy and dark and full of action. If you enjoy people watching the staff is super attentive and well trained. This is a great restaurant for a nice couples dinner in downtown Austin. There’s two levels of the dining room plus a small outdoor seating area as well.
Such an amazing dining experience for my best friend’s birthday. The food was outstanding. I got the French Onion Soup for my appetizer, the Certified Upper Choice Ribeye for my main course and then as a group we got a selection of sides. The Lobster Mac & Cheese, the Au Gratin Potatoes and the Sweet Sriracha Brussel Sprouts. Every single one of them spectacular. The atmosphere was wonderful. Candle lit tables, beautiful glassware, tall ceilings. I felt like I was in a movie. Finally, the absolute best thing about this experience was our waiter, David. He was so kind, attentive and effortlessly funny. My friend (Who is a bakery manager) brought a cake she made for my friend’s birthday. He brought out plates, a knife and even took the time to sing Happy Birthday with us. When we were leaving (Already out the door) he came outside, shook all of our hands and thanked us again for coming. The definition of above and beyond service. For our next special occasion, we will definitely be going to Perry’s and asking for David.
Plain and simple, this place has AWESOME food! The Pork Chop 🤤 🤤 🤤🤤🤤 The NY Strip & potatoes 🤤🤤🤤 The chocolate covered ice cream and sorbet desserts 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 The place is quiet and dimly lit, which was nice for date night. There’s also a nice bar that I could see hanging out at and getting good drinks. I hear they have a pork chop lunch special on Friday and the cost I remember hearing was a really stupid amount (like super cheap) for the the size of the pork chop you get. It’s incredible! We will be back! Thanks for making my wife’s birthday even more special! PS - My wife has celiac and they were more than accommodating with everything we ordered/wanted to order. I don’t remember too many things she couldn’t eat. Always great to find these spots!
What a great restaurant! We have been going for years. The pork chop is famous for good reason. The steaks are phenomenal and totally worth the price. The seafood is fresh and always cooked to perfection. The reason I’m writing this review though, is for the service. Recently we had a minor order issue with our take out order. I got connected with Del Ray Cross( the General Manager) and he more than made it right. He went above and beyond in such a way that he made us customers for life. Thank you, Mr. Cross. We will surely tell our friends and family about our experience and continue to recommend Perry’s as the preeminent establishment for great food and experiences in Austin.
Visiting Perry's on our trip for music concert. We picked the right restaurant. We ordered steaks and sides. Steaks was cooked perfectly as our ordered. Au gratin was so cheesy goodness. We loved it. Great environment, great service. Probably we will not come to Austin again, but for fine dining restaurant it is recommended.
Wow, where to begin? Our server Sharon was the brightest person in the room with her smile and great personality! She was extremely knowledgeable and kept the drinks flowing! The atmosphere is something to be desired in all steakhouses as it serves classy and modern at the same time, love the space and the lighting. The food was exceptional, we had steaks and lobster tails and I can say that is one of my favorite steaks now!! The scallops were devine and the corn brûlée was mind blowing! Will be back to try the pork chops!
They made it so special for us celebrating our anniversary… and National pork chop day! We definitely appreciated the added touches (rose petals & a third dessert neither of us needed, but were happy to try). Can only speak to when celebrating something special, but would definitely recommend!
Tried the before 6:00 Senior Menu special, it was great! We'll do this again. UPDATE 2/7/25: Back again, family took me for birthday dinner so we all got to try several different things on the menu. Both the service and food was excellent. The restaurant is a beautiful facility. UPDATE 7/14/2025: took advantage of their 4x4x44 special celebrating Perry's 4 decades. Always excellent good and outstanding service. This has become our go-to favorite.
You get what you pay for: Service, attention to detail, attentiveness, seasoning, consistency, excellence. Highly recommend the Pork Chop - gargantuan portion, seasoned, slightly sweet, salty, a touch of spice and a side of apple butter which pairs perfect with the pork. Buttered, creamy mashed potatoes also seasoned to perfection. I ordered some Brussels sprouts as well and they were delicious. I shouldn't forget to share with you the stuffed mushrooms appetizer and cucumber blueberry martini - divine. Slightly tart and sweet, excellent combination of flavors. But best of all was the massive butterscotch bread pudding with charred house made marshmallow! Out of this world, the butterscotch is not overpowering and is absent that artificial flavor so many "butterscotch" concoctions claim. From the bar staff to the servers, everything was well done.
So my wife and our five year old son decided to take me here for Father's Day!! I am still full, but it was awesome food. The service and atmosphere were very nice as well. The employees were awesome and helpful, considering our son loves his food to be crunchy since he is Autistic. The wagyu was spot on perfect, just like everything else . What a wonderful Father's Day gift at a very nice restaurant. It's worth every bit it costs!
Perry’s Steakhouse in Austin delivers an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The ambiance is upscale yet inviting, perfect for a special night out or business dinner. Their signature pork chop is a must-try—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Steaks are top-tier, rivaling the best in Texas, and the sides and cocktails are equally impressive. Service is attentive and polished, with staff who truly care about making your visit memorable. Perry’s combines quality, elegance, and consistency, making it a standout steakhouse in Austin.

From the minute we walked into Perry's and was met with two smiling faces, I knew I choose the right place. It was Thursday night and we just flew in. We had reservations but asked to be seated in …
I will be the first to admit that while I love steak I don’t frequent steakhouses. Something about the level of elegance, price, and the almost “stuffiness” ambiance has always made them feel somewhat uncomfortable to me. Perry’s elegant and can be a little on the pricier side, but it doesn’t feel stuffy. The staff were incredibly accommodating, professional, and friendly The interior is beautifully decorated and is sectioned off (not open layout), which I like. There’s various size tables, and all covered with white table cloths The menu has a variety of delicious entrees, app, desserts, and other delicacies. Again, this is a steakhouse, so, if you’re a fan of steak you should definitely give them a shot. There’s also a fully stocked bar. There is delicious complimentary bread and butter Now, we came on a Friday for lunch, and one thing you need to know about lunch at Perry’s is that everyone is pretty much getting the same thing. The lunch pork chop. This isn’t because the lunch menu only has one item, it has many, but the pork chop is half of the normal dinner size, and it’s difficult to finish even the big portion it’s so big Some tips: This is a great spot to celebrate any occasion, or for a date night, or for any occasion really Get the lunch pork chop! Upgrade your mash potatoes to loaded. And if you’re feeling it get some of their delicious tableside desserts Cheers!!
The restaurant is large and romantic. The service is friendly and professional. We had steak and fish and shared some mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. These were all generous portions and we enough to take home for brekkie. We will definitely be back.
We love Perry’s and since the Domain location opened we go there as it’s more central. Last week we went downtown as it was the first time at Perry’s for our friend and this is a lovely location. The food was great, but our server, G…., was a problem. He insisted that the Prime Rib special wasn’t available, though it was listed and eventually he agreed when he finally looked at the menu. AND he also insisted that the lunch special Pork Chop on the lunch menu included soup/salad and dessert. We told him that this isn’t how it had ever worked and he pointed to a section of the menu. The menu did explain the lunch offering with mashed potatoes and apple sauce, but it said nothing about soup/salad and dessert being included. Again, I remarked saying that the lunch menu doesn’t say that, however he insisted, and three of us ordered lunch specials, with, you guessed it - soup and dessert. When the check came they were charged separately for each item and had not yet been given dessert. Of course we pointed this issue out as the difference almost doubled our food bill and he said “I just wanted you to have the full dining experience.” 🤷♀️ We asked for the manager but our server replied that he would fix it. We would have talked to the manager on our way out, as our experience was bad all around, but fortunately Andy, the manager, came by to work out the check. He then explained to us how the lunch menu works. We explained that our waiter had insisted soup/salad and dessert were included multiple times and that we tried to explain this to him earlier. Andy corrected the charge. Dessert arrived. The entire experience with our waiter was odd. He clearly has a dark, wry humor but he made some oddly pointed comments - “… is that the face you want” for photos and “… it shouldn’t be that hard” when we didn’t respond quickly enough on a question he asked. We asked twice for a replacement napkin and he asked if paper would be better, but than never brought the napkin and we got up and got one ourselves. When asked if he could take a photo when he was not too busy he replied under breath that he was too busy but then took the phone/camera out of the hands of the hostess when we finally asked someone else for photos. (It was 4:30 on a Friday afternoon.) He never asked if we wanted coffees, or if others wanted dessert. This is just a few quips- there was more. We were 5 people with three lunch specials, two regular items and 2 expensive cocktails each. We are in our mid-60s and maybe he was confusing the Friday Prime Rib Lunch with the Senior Lunch? We were polite, friendly, ordered in a timely manner and are nice people. We were really surprised by all of this. We tipped, to not hurt the rest of the team, but certainly not the 25% would have likely tipped. Long story short- make sure you understand the lunch specials as well as the other specials for seniors and military, in case your server doesn’t. Check your bill. We enjoyed the food and drinks and have this lunch special up in the Domain location every month. I think the issue was our server and not Perry’s and I assume he will get the training he needs. I am Happy to talk with Perrys on this.
We checked the menu online before going and it was the right call, menus are too busy, so our server had to spend 5 mins explaining it. That said, food was delicious. Perry’s asparagus was good (but eat it fast, it soaks up all the grease from the plate very quickly). Their seasonal beef wellington was to die for, and steak was wonderfully tender. On dessert front, the bread pudding was HUGE but disappeared so quick that I didn’t manage to snatch a photo. Service was attentive, yet not overbearing. Taking 1 star off for few easily fixable things - for doing so much right it’s odd to leave some of those things be: - the bread we got was presented as “fresh bread”, but it was clearly reheated from day before. Just don’t say “fresh” and we’ll be good! - sparkling wine I ordered came flat, which felt like being served someone’s leftovers from the morning. I know how much that wine costs retail, just open new bottle if it was sitting whole day. - the ice cream in D’angelo dessert was rock-hard. It’s one of desserts that are set on fire tableside, but I’d skip a show and focus instead on making it pleasant to eat. Overall, I will likely be coming back, but I hope they bump up the QA on small things, as they take away from experience at this price point.
Went to Perry’s with a group and had the vegetarian options — honestly, it’s not really built for vegetarians, but they do have a few things. The flavors were okay, but nothing stood out, especially for the price. The vibe is definitely more geared toward steak lovers, but the service was great and the atmosphere was nice. Fine if you’re tagging along with meat-eaters, but probably wouldn’t go out of my way as a vegetarian.
This was my second time at Perry’s - and I’m not someone who would frequent visits here. We got the signature steakhouse smorgasbord for 4 and oh man it was great. I’m horrible with pictures and looking back, and it definitely doesn’t do it justice. The lamb was good, the porterhouse was cooked perfectly at medium rare, the shrimp was good, and the pork chops were great as well. They also moved our table for us to a bigger table to accommodate for the larger plating. The only downside is waiting for our food.. which took a quite a while. Yes it isn’t fast food, but it did take like 45 minutes or something and by the time we were done eating, the restaurant had been closed for an hour already. It might be our fault for going a bit late (delayed flight) but overall, great staff and great food!
Had dinner her for my girlfriend’s birthday. The experience was solid across the board. The atmosphere was upscale yet comfortable, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. The food was good - nothing overwhelmingly great, but everything was well-prepared and enjoyable. The steak was cooked to the right temperature, and the sides complemented the meal nicely. Overall, it was a good night out. If you’re looking for a reliable steakhouse with a nice ambiance, Perry’s is a solid choice.

Perry’s Steakhouse in downtown Austin has a great atmosphere, and I was really looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations. The service seemed a bit off, and several dishes were noticeably over-salted, which took away from the enjoyment of the meal. I don’t typically leave reviews like this because I know how hard restaurants work, and I believe this may have just been an off night. Perry’s has a strong reputation, and I would be open to giving them another try in the future—just not immediately
We had reservations months in advance for New Years Eve, but unfortunately had an unsatisfactory experience—leading us to conclude we likely would've had a better time if we had added a "t" to our intended establishment, and went P. Terry's instead. Definitely would've saved a lot of money and for better value in a lot of key aspects of a memorable dining experience. The foreshadowing of the unpleasant evening began when we were seated in spme auxiliary room, which looked like (in my opinion) a somewhat tacky conference room. I get, they were busy, but it was a disappointment that set the stage to many more to come. Our server was pleasant, and in the initial exchange mentioned (two or three times) the amazing bread that was on the way since being seated. We were pretty excited by the prospect of this amazing bread, made all the mor3 disappointing that it never came. Even after my significant other's soup arrived, was eating, and nearly finished. It would've been finished had we not put it on hold to wait for the bread. I also received the wrong salad (I ordered the mixed green with beers, but received some pear salad). I should point out that the soup and the salad were brought out by back waiters, which plays into the narrative in a bit. When our waiter was finally able to return to our table I mentioned the salad error and asked if we might be able to get some of the bread that was previously mentioned. He then let me know that he was just informed that the only salads being served that night were the caeser and the pear. No big deal that he didn't know that prior, but oddly they would've then just picked one for me and sent it out. He also apologized that the soup came out before the bread, telling us that he was still waiting on the soup, not realizing someone else had brought it out already. Fair enough, a little mishap with the kitchen/server communication on a busy night. At that point I was just looking forward to the bread that would hopefully redeem the first half an hour of mishaps (I had declined the salad I didn't order, so I was getting pretty hungry then). Finally the bread arrived... and I was stunned. It was cheap and bland! Honestly, no exaggeration, it tasted like—and had a similar texture to—that $1 Cuban bread loaf sold at corner stores wrapped in paper. Seriously, Olive Garden bread is better. I'm not picky, but this was not what I'd expect from even a decent restaurant, let alone fine dining! It's so mind blowing I actually think it's pretty hilarious—anecdotal gold, for sure. Oh, and the waiter bumped into our table pretty hard. I felt bad from him, but oddly he kept going and never looked back. It had spilled our drinks. I won't hold that against him, but it seemed to capture the essence of the busy evening, and made me think that perhaps the wait staff were spread thin and possibly overwhelmed. We were just going to order soup and salads, then enjoy some choice deserts but we were pretty over it at that point, so we just finished up and asked for the check. As anticipated, it was pricey. Obviously, I was prepared for that, but it was all the more painful given how disappointing the whole experience was and that I was still hungry. For 2 (non-alcoholic) drinks, 1 soup, and 1 salad it was $50+. And that was before tip (yes, I still tipped—I'm not like that) and paying the valet. So, yeah, our NYE's dinner reflected most people's 2025: pretty bad. Looking forward to better dining experiences include 2026 (likely not from Perry's again).
Sadly the past 3 visits have been subpar for the Perry's that we are use to. This last visit Friday, December 5th was the worst ever. Our party of 6 for 3 of our December birthdays dinner which we have been coming to this Downtown Perry's for now at least 8 years. The waitress rushed us all evening. She took 2 of our salad orders and two of our friends had to request that she take their salad orders as well, she did not even ask the other two of our party if they wanted salads which they did and had to call her back. At that time we asked for bread which usually comes out first but she never brought it until after we had our steaks. When I ordered 2 of the Perry's Signature Wedge salads I explained to her that we wanted the true "Wedge" NOT the slice of lettuce that Perry's decided a few years ago was a wise 100 plus year tradition change! I also let her know that if she had any questions that she could ask the Manager, David and he could take care of that for us. Of course, she obviously did not take the time to do so. We asked for the Manager but of course she did NOT get him. We always have the sides come out first so to enjoy our dinner in courses so to speak but, yet again our wishes were disregarded. The sides and steaks all came out together and the table had not even been cleared of the salad plates. Oh, and my last 2 friend's salads came out finally after we other 4 finished ours! The steaks were all below Luke warm in temperature so we barely are any of them. My Bone In Cowboy medium and my friends Bacon Wrapped Filet you can see pictured. We NEVER leave steak on our plates! By dessert most were over the expience and ready to go to DQ for it. We were non discreetly informed that our "birthday dessert" was limited to the certain options above a certain line even though the price difference was ONLY $1 . This never has been a concern in the past either. Leaving the restaurant we were sent out with plastic togo containers in hand with no bags which has always been a courtesy by the staff. We spent less than an hour and half seated and felt as if we had been pushed out the door by the waitress. Days later my friend messaged me that his cousin in Houston has had the same problems and even included an article where many people have complained about much of the same.

Rough all Around. Started off with me wanting to take my mother in law to a nice dining experience since she wanted to go to the cheese cake factory at first, I figured we’ll take her here to really wow her. That was a mistake. We come in, get seated, got handed 2 menus without inverts for dinner menus. About 5 minutes later we figure that out, still no waiter. We sit another 10 minutes before a grumpy waiter that said “I can’t see that you have to read the menu to me” we ask for water with lemons and get drinks. 20 min later without checking in he comes back with no lemons, leaves comes back 10 minutes later, says he forgot lemons at a bar again. 20 min later comes with first round of food. (50 min after we got there) dirty plates, and obviously say under a heat lamp for some time. Order food, 30 min later we get our lemons, sauces that we ordered with the first round and 2 things of bread we asked for at the beginning. 3 main dishes were so salty I couldn’t event eat them. Mind you I’ve had them before multiple times and I’ve never had an experience so bad. Told the manager she said she understood but didn’t really try to fix it. Said she’ll remake them. 20 min later I said forget it and cancel all of it we’ll cash out. Don’t feel like management really tried to fix my experience. Took of thr 3 bad dishes Lemon took 3 reminders, and 20 minutes. Steak came over seasoned and burned. Kids food was probably sitting on the red light for 30 minutes before we got. This is the most disappointing food we ever got here and we used to go here all the time. They took off the food off the bill that we got - but that didn’t really fix the experience we had. Well remember this as the last time we’ll visit Perry’s. Should have gone to Deans Italian after all.
My wife and I recently dined at Perry's for the first time. I had anticipated a high-end dining experience which would include atmosphere, and for the high prices, excellent tasting menu items. I was disappointed on all counts. I started with the Caesar Salad which was so salty I could not eat it. I returned it and was not charged for it. I also had the Stuffed Mushroom appetizer. I removed the stuffing, which tasted fishy, and ate the mushrooms. I also had French Onion Soup and it was fair. I next had the Crab Cakes appetizer. The plate contained two Crab Cakes. The crab cakes were not lump meat but rather a blended stuffing with a crust and deep fried. I ate half of one. For dessert I had the Bread Pudding which came with a four inch square of marshmallow for a topping. My thought is how ridiculous that huge chunk of marshamallow looked sitting on top of the bread pudding. The bread pudding was tasteless and very solid. It was difficult to eat with a spoon or fork. I only had one bite. My wife had the Chopped Salad which was fair. She also had the Lobster Bisque which was fine but not great. My wife also had the Shrimp Cocktail which was five shrimp on ice with a small container of shrimp cocktail sauce. It was ok. We had a nice young lady as our server. She was polite and efficient. In summary we were totally disappointed in this restaurant. The food was sub par on every item my wife and I tried. The prices were expensive. I felt the dining experience was a waste of our time and money. We will never come to this restaurant again as there are better options.
